I thought I had posted a story and link on this thread (apparently not) about an 18--year-old guy who once he turned 18 defied his parents and got himself caught up on all his vaccinations. Well the guy, Ethan Lindenberger, testified in front of Congress this morning and blamed Facebook and other social media sites for spreading misinformation about vaccines and the danger they cause to children. Teen who got vaccinated despite parents blames Facebook for spreading misinformationA teenager who testified before Congress on Tuesday about his decision to get vaccinated against his mother's wishes blamed Facebook and other websites for spreading misinformation about the risks of vaccines. Ethan Lindenberger, a high school student in Ohio, told the Senate Health Committee that his mother's views that vaccines were unsafe were bolstered after reading information shared on Facebook by "illegitimate sources." He specifically referred to "anti-vax" pages on Facebook, citing a study by The Atlantic that found that seven anti-vax pages generated 20 percent of the top 10,000 vaccination-related posts in a three-year period. "With my mother it continues to influence her views, along with countless Americans," Lindenberger said. Complete article here: Teen who got vaccinated despite parents blames Facebook for spreading misinformationThe age of medical consent in Quebec is 14. I gave a lot of shots to a lot of 14 year olds whose parents didn't approve/didn't know. If kids want anything from a flu shot to Gardisil, they get it.

You may claim my entire share of angel food cake. In perpetuity. It's all yours. You don't even need to ask. Just take it. Please. I'll donate mine as well. It has the weird taste to me. Tastes like old sponges..🤮

I’d disagree with this for me. I like chocolate, but don’t find it addictive. It isn’t my first choice on a dessert menu. I don’t find pizza addictive either, I like pizza but it isn’t always my first choice either. If I had to choose an addictive dessert, I’d choose angelfood cake. Fruit on it ramps that addiction up, but TD and I have been known to kill a while cake in an evening. For savory food, crab and shrimp are my addictions. I can’t walk away from these on a menu. I guess I’m weird. You may claim my entire share of angel food cake. In perpetuity. It's all yours. You don't even need to ask. Just take it. Please. The 'devil' is in the angel food cake ingredients.

I just finished watching the movie Vaxxed. I’m crying. Spread out the fucking shots. Treat vaccines like other drugs on the market that are better tested. Make pharmaceutical companies liable for vaccine damage. A child is diagnosed with autism every 7 minutes. This is just so damn sad.

Make pharmaceutical companies liable for vaccine damage. A child is diagnosed with autism every 7 minutes. This is just so damn sad. The science has proven repeatedly that vaccines have nothing to do with autism. Spreading them out changes nothing and just leaves children vulnerable to diseases more often. Vaccines have been rigorously tested and anyone who is truly harmed by vaccines (an astonishingly small number) have ways to be compensated. Vaxxed is pushing an agenda with lies and manipulation. The increased number of children diagnosed is in no small part caused by the ever changing definition of autism and parents no longer simply accepting being told their child is different. You know what's truly sad? The millions of dollars wasted to reprove time and time again that vaccines are safe due to people believing a completely made up study by a disgraced doctor who did it in attempts to lay the ground for his vaccine to become the standard. That's millions of dollars that could have gone to research on autism that would actually help the kids instead of having to disprove well known lies.

The movie Vaxxed was directed by that disgraced charlatan, Andrew Wakefield, himself!! Dr. Hooker enlists the help of Dr. Andrew Wakefield, the British gastroenterologist falsely accused of starting the anti-vax movement when he first reported in 1998 that the MMR vaccine may cause autism. In his ongoing effort to advocate for children’s health, Wakefield directs this documentary examining the evidence behind an appalling cover-up committed by the government agency charged with protecting the health of American citizens. vaxxedthemovie.com/You can't possibly be serious!

You cannot overload an immune system with vaccines.
If that was the case we'd have gone extinct millenia ago because we are exposed to trillions of stimulus every waking moment.
I assure you you're touching/inhaling and ingesting far more bacteria and virsuses right this second than you will ever get in a vaccine.

With every subsequent vaccine, you body treats it as just another exposure to sick person you meet on the street. It already knows how to fight it off.

I knew I would get jumped on. Agree to disagree. Have you watched the movie? Why not space out vaccinations? Why can’t we question this? Why the big ass jump of autism? Have any of you researched how the costs of development disabilities are costing school districts here and around the world? It has jumped the last thirty years. I guess this is going to be the new normal. The CDC can do no wrong. Uh huh. Citizens can sue drug companies for everything but vaccines. What the hell is wrong with that? Taxpayers are paying for vaccine injuries. Billion dollar industry with no liability. Bullshit.

I understand. You need someone to blame. That being said, why on earth would I watch ANYTHING directed by Andrew Wakefield? That man leaves a trail of death and destruction in his wake. Andrew Wakefield is a disgraced British former physician[2] and medical researcher and is one of the originators of the modern anti-vaccine movement. He is best known for his fraudulent study alleging a link between the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine and autism. Once the massive methodological and ethical flaws in this paper came to light, The Lancet retracted it. He and his paper are a major hit to humanity, spawning a vast number of evil and stupid pro-disease minions bent on destroying the world. The MMR vaccine controversy has been referred to as "the most damaging medical hoax of the last 100 years",[3] and the modern anti-vaccinaiton movement it has created is considered by World Health Organization to be one of the top 10 threats, alongside air pollution and climate change.[4] rationalwiki.org/wiki/Andrew_Wakefield

Taxpayers are paying for vaccine injuries. Billion dollar industry with no liability. Bullshit. Why not space out vaccinations? Because when an infant is born, it’s immune system is almost identical to mom’s. By 3 months, those antibodies disappear. This is called passive immunization, because it comes across the placenta and doesn’t last. The only way to get it more permanent is to immunize, and you want to start at the point where it’s not fighting against mom’s immunity.....around 3 months. However one shot isn’t going to do it. There has been decades of experience in when to immunize to get an optimal immune response. You immunize multiple times to get the highest titer possible which elicits the most memory B cells, which can be called on to produce antibody when exposed to disease. I used to do this in the lab all.the.time. Depending upon antigen we used, we pretty much used the same schedule as most bacterial immunizations to get an optimal lab response in research animal...because it worked so we... Added to this is trying to compromise with the infant getting well baby checks, this is a good time to immunize because the infant is at the doctor’s. Also added to this at about 3 months, the child is being taken out more, put in daycare and exposed to more people.....more carriers of disease. Do you want a half assed immune response? Space them out then. I guess a half assed response is better than none, but your child isn’t fully protected. Why not want your child to get the best response they can? The big big jump in autism is unknown. At this point, the ONE thing they know is that it is NOT attributed to vaccines. Millions of $$$ have been spent to disprove this (possibly at the expense of autism research.....but go ahead and believe a liar who has had his medical license yanked). There has been a change about the same time in the definition of autism, which is now more including of abnormalities that were not classified as such. That accounts for some. The biggest, most logical evidence I have seen is very likely genetic. I’m guessing this, along with an environmental factor has a lot to do with it. Multifactorial causes of conditions are not easy to tease out. The take home message is that non immunized children do NOT have a lower incidence of autism. This pretty much puts this theory in the toilet. www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/03/04/699997613/a-large-study-provides-more-evidence-that-mmr-vaccines-dont-cause-autismCorrelation does not equal causation.

I guess this is going to be the new normal. The CDC can do no wrong. Uh huh. Citizens can sue drug companies for everything but vaccines. What the hell is wrong with that? Taxpayers are paying for vaccine injuries. Billion dollar industry with no liability. Bullshit. 1) I didn't watch it after looking into those behind it. I don't give money or a voice to proven liars that are endangering lives for a buck. 2) The vaccine schedule has been greatly studied. To my knowledge there has been no reviewed and replicated study indicating any benefit from differing from it. 3) Sure, one can question it. But any reason for varying from it needs to be from a legit peer reviewed study that has hopefully been replicated. But there are none - all legit health organizations agree to the schedule and need for vaccines. 4) As stated a big, if not the full, reason for the jump of autism is a greater understanding of the disease and an expansion of the definition. Children 25 years ago were not diagnosed as autism because back then their symptoms did not fall under the definition of autism at the time. Up until recently a lot of children (especially those on the higher functioning end) were simply classified as slow, lacking social skills, or below average intelligence etc. Furthermore some studies have shown that advanced paternal age may be a factor in autism - meaning if the father is over 35 the degradation of sperm may cause autism. And people are waiting longer to have children. 5) The cost of autism has ZERO to do with vaccines. 6) Did you throw out romaine lettuce when the CDC said to or did you continue to eat it? 7) The reason you can't sue the manufacturer of vaccines is because years ago there was a shortage of vaccines. They are low margin drugs due to the limited dose yet high setup costs (standards are very high, rightfully so, for things injected into your body - my understanding is higher protocols than pills but I could be wrong) so the manufacturer's were making next to nothing if possibly losing money but were at risk for the incredibly incredibly rare instance someone had a adverse reaction to the vaccine. So they told they government they weren't going to make them anymore. The government - fresh from polio and smallpox and measles etc outbreaks did not want this to happen and struck a deal - you keep making the vaccines and we'll cover the rare adverse effect because people need to be vaccinated. Now this deal was struck long before the current atmosphere of drug pricing - but the low to no margin of old vaccines still exists (hello there's often flu shot shortages) and companies will and do cut unprofitable lines. The solution isn't to shift the burden back to companies - it's to deal with the shitshow of rx drugs. 7a) Also undoubtedly the idiots that believe charlatans would cause vaccine manufacturers to shutter to avoid the money they'd have to spend on baseless suits. 7b) Did you know thanks to idiots that believed that thiomersal caused vaccines that manufacturers took it out of almost all vaccines almost 2 decades ago? But to take it out they had to manufacture vaccines as single dose because thiomersal is a preservative. But this move greatly increased the cost of vaccines over the 10 doses per vial. Because of the huge setup costs mentioned above most manufacturers don't reset to make vaccines for other countries. So third world countries where they don't have the healthcare system to treat those that come down with preventable diseases now have a much higher cost to vaccinate kids there. Which means less kids are getting vaccinated in third world countries. Which means more children are dying and being permanently disabled because idiots forced companies to remove something that is perfectly safe from vaccines.

And you believe a billion dollar industry that has no checks and balances. Okay. I believe thousands of parents who saw their normal babies regress. Like I said, agree to disagree. Something is not right. But hey, fuck those damaged kids. Doesn’t affect you if you’re not dealing with it personally. I just thank God Noah is a happy kid so far and isn’t violent to himself or others. Hate him or like him, there is more to this movie then Wakefield. The CDC whistblower Thompson for one.
I’m not anti-vaccines. I want the truth and I don’t believe the pharmaceutical companies that produce vaccines are giving the general public the risks of the vaccinations because they are not liable. Get rid of the 1986 law.

The CDC, the FDA, the WHO, the NIH, and lots of other country's organizations are all in agreement on vaccines. This isn't just one pharmacy company touting vaccines and they're not making billions off vaccines (I believe only the HPV and shingles vaccines are still under patents).

Look up Robert F Kennedy suing HHS. Not doing what they were supposed to be doing for the last 30 years. But hey, whatever. Keep on keeping on trusting the government. Uh huh. Remember government good, corporations baaaad. Baaaaaa! That’s sarcasm by the way.

As well as the governments of undeveloped countries. And all the doctors and medical researchers. Btw you do realize RFKs crusade against vaccines had to do with thimerosal which was removed from all childhood vaccines almost 2 decades ago.

I learned a lot more about Andrew Wakefield's financial stake in his single measles vaccine. There were also some amusing stories and my favourite was the one about the doctor who invited an anti-vaxxer, who thought healthy living was all that was necessary, to come to his smallpox ward. The man accepted the doctor's offer and then disappeared for two weeks. When he was finally tracked down in a remote farmhouse he had smallpox. I don't usually laugh at horrendous diseases but that anecdote was humorous.

103 is when your brain starts to fry. That's why they tell you go to the ER if it gets that high. Our bodies are not perfect. It regularly tries to kill us the fact any of are normal is a miracle of nature IMO. This "all natural" crap is dangerous. Nature is not some benevolent entity that would grant us perfect health if only evil modern medicine would get out of the way. It's elitism. The same people saying let you're kid have a 104 fever are the same people screaming about a wall to protect us from Ebola carrying illegals. Well if you want to give yourself a 104 fever and be protected from cancer Ebola would certainly do the trick. Really? I don't think my kid has ever run a fever less than 103. She hits 104 and 105 with regularity, and our pediatricians are pretty chill about it. The nurses freaked out when we told them about the fever-induced hallucinations, but the doctor just shrugged and said they'll go away when the meds kick in and the fever comes down. my sis and I were this way as well. haven't really been sick enough as an adult to see if that's still the case, though.

Get rid of the 1986 law. as a career pharmaceutical engineer, I take personal offense to this first bolded statement. I'd go further, but don't feel like taking a vacation. there are many levels of checks and balances, and you don't have a clue what you are talking about. personally, I left an employer earlier this year due to my own issues with various violations I saw in the short time I was there. the global regulatory bodies routinely inspect pharmaceutical companies all around the world and enforce compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices. they issue observations, penalties, and will actually close a place down if they find things serious enough. in those cases, criminal charges are often filed. for a recent, particularly horrifying local case, I suggest you read up on NECC and the meningitis outbreakas far as the second bolded statement, see above. I understand that you need someone to blame, but your blame is horribly misplaced. your insult is noted, though. thanks for that.

This is Carrot too. I had a heart attack and sped him to the ER a couple years ago when I saw his temp was 104.5! It was 103 when we got there, but I had given him ibuprofen. They didn't really say much but keep giving him meds every few hours.

There are so many things that COULD be causing the increase in autism (including just increased diagnosis). So many new ingredients in food and new environmental toxins out there that weren't 40 years ago. Childhood obesity is off the charts as well, but that isn't being blamed on vaccines (or maybe it is and I missed that Facebook meme).

I'm with you les63. Until our country begins to hold the companies liable that produce vaccines, I'm never going to completely trust them. And, when I compare the number of vaccines I had, to the number the current generation gets, the difference is HUGE. If I had it to do all over again, I would've spaced out DS's shots.

No, we don't walk away. But when we're holding on to something precious, we run.

When you compare the number of antibiotics now to when you were a kid the difference is HUGE. When you compare the number of prescription drugs now to when you were a kid the difference is HUGE. When you compare the number of diseases that now can be cured or effectively managed now to when you were a kid the difference is HUGE. When you compare the death rate of cancer now to when you were a kid the difference is HUGE. When you compare the number and quality of diagnostic tests now to when you were a kid the difference is HUGE. When you compare the number of kids in an iron lung now to when you were a kid the difference is HUGE.
Medicine has made large, huge, incredible strides in the last few decades - a lot of it is thanks to technology. That technology also helps make it safer than ever. No more having the rub a cowpox in an open wound to get immunity.
Wanting to space out vaccines and having a negative reaction to simply the number of them is an emotional response not a logical scientific one.

Les63 - I have young kids so I did the research before vaccinating them. I couldn't find anything reputable to make me decide not to vaccinate. And as for the bolded, I would say that the timing of the regression or noticing abnormalities is incidental. I view it as similar to when a parent would notice and figure out other abnormalities - like deafness. If your baby isn't tested at birth or soon thereafter (I think they all are now), you wouldn't necessarily notice that he/she can't hear until he/she is a bit older. The same with physical abnormalities like low muscle tone diagnosed when your baby is old enough to crawl but can't. Or I know of lots of kids with chromosomal anomalies who present as normal until they don't meet specific milestones. Autism could be the same way. I'd rather see the research money go into finding a cause and/or treatments for autism than continuing to combat vaccines. All that to say Les - I have nothing but compassion and empathy towards you. I cannot imagine parenting a special needs child. My niece has a chromosome break - she's 8 and still non-verbal. She's starting to cause problems in the classroom and at home - whether that's related to the syndrome or she's just fed up with not being able to speak, I don't know. But, I help my sister out whenever she lets me, and I continue to pray every day that they both have strength and peace.
