Virgil Showlion I get your point now. We know what Trump is and his actions don't surprise us anymore. So why keep bringing it up. Which is why I haven't posted much since the election on the outcome. I just don't have much hope for us unless Paul Ryan and Congress reel him in.

I thought, at the time, that was a bad idea. Like so many other times, I was wrong. I don't like the principle of it, but I'd support it in extreme cases. Somebody creating more than 30 threads per week, for instance. I think one poster actually got that bad in 2012. YMAM (which was still NMSNM at that point) was half NMSNM, half Drudge Report newsfeed. I remember the limit. I think it was 3 threads a day max for P&M and maybe 5 for YM and EE. I think some posters may have not read P&M in 2012 or its predecessor in 2008. I probably started more threads back then because the titles were more outrageous than Virgil's made up ones.
It slowed down eventually after the limit and when the limit was lifted. There still was stuff that amazed me as Obama's every move seemed to be fodder for some. Christmas announcement does not use the right words. Shit about what the kids were wearing for the Turkey pardoning. Crap I never saw from the moderates or left of center when discussing W. It was a whole new level of shit.
I think after 8 years of being subject to all that, it should be expected that one poster or more responds in kind now. This suggestion works for all - if its too out there, don't post to the thread. Let it die. On this board it seems unlikely all can refrain, but that works better than a thread limit if people can do it. Thread views with no posts eventually fall down off current topics and board first page topics.

Don't really understand what your complaining about...with out the threads presented, mind telling me what the purpose of this site is... Discussion. Before you create a thread, ask yourself "Is there something here for people to discuss, where reactions won't be obvious?" If not, reconsider creating the thread. You can always post the tidbit to an existing discussion. You can even create your own serial thread that serves as a repository and mini blog of news you find important. People poke in every few weeks and sample the latest dirt if it interests them. These are all just recommendations. By me, personally. This isn't official and it isn't endorsed by anybody. Just respect the fact that we have a finite capacity to care about Pres. Trump, and the way information about him is filtered and structured is important. Think of it like reality TV.

Which is why I'm parodying rather than pushing a new limit.

I got that Virgil. The issue I am having is in context, this is more of a tempest in a tea pot. Some posters start a lot of threads, some do not. It may surprise some if they do some research to see posters' threads they are annoyed by are usually not thread starters. I checked on some peeps here by looking at member profiles and clicked on threads started. Of the handful I checked including myself, the low was three pages of threads started to a high of 40 pages.
I think I am at 18 pages and my threads are allover the board not just a couple places like P&M and EE. My point is we've had to endure worse. And if some feel compelled to create lots of threads now in spite of their lackluster history of thread starting, why the heck not. Time for the other side to experience the "joy" of winning in P&M and the resulting thread count.

I don't even care if anyone takes my advice (it's more for their benefit than mine). I just saw the barrage to be ripe for parody. "P.E. Trump Pickled Oprah Winfrey" I mean... come on. We would eventually get to this. ETA: ...and the really sad thing is that, by the time we did, 90% of the board would be thinking, "Well, she probably deserved it."

These titles must have been written by PE Trump. There is a misspelling in one of them.

A thread on our soon to be POTUS can be positive or negative..up to the man himself...

He didn't have to attack them. He could have ignored them. But he has proven that he can't take the least bit of criticism from anyone, even a college student who disagrees with him. On to twitter to put her down. On to twitter everyday to make a fool of himself. With all the talk and blather ..what is over looked is our next POTUS has, as being demonstrated by him and we can observe..absolutly no control over his actions...This is the next POTUS people..this is embarressing..this is dangerouse..this is wrong and what is worse is his supporters don't , won't or if agree..won't say anything...accept it and his big claim to help them so far.."trust me...make America great again "..oh, also his fondness for red baseball hats..

One of the titles that says Trump stomped on the Canadian flag...or something along those lines. Pay attention! "Canada" is one of the subjects, as is "the American Flag", but not the Canadian flag. You had me worried there for a second. Nobody disrespects "Old... Leafy". Excepting my grandfather. He was about my age when P.M. Pearson brought in the maple leaf flag to replace the Red Ensign in 1964, which had been in use (modulo some updates) since confederation. It featured the Union Jack in the top left corner. Much beloved by conservatives of that era, and so greatly so by P.M. Diefenbaker that his casket was draped in it when he died in 1979. At any rate, conservatives of my grandfather's era (of whom there are not too many left) really have no use for our current flag. It was seen as a sell-out to appease Quebec (it was, in part), and of course the maple is a scrub tree, invasive, and considered a nuisance in most places. Aside from the fact there are a lot of them in Eastern Canada and Quebec is famous for its sugar maples, it's really not a symbol you want to put on your flag--from a semiotics standpoint. We seem to have that problem up here. Our national animal is the world's biggest rodent. I grew up with the flag and like it. I think it hits that happy medium of being distinctive but not complicated. Even little kids can draw it, but it's instantly recognizable. You're not scratching your head trying to remember which country is those three stripes.

The only downside is it makes me wants pancakes and we all know they are temporarily filling but you are hungry again an hour later.
Sorry about the title thing. Was sure I'd seen that.

Do you get that? You can be loud and indiscriminate in your criticism, or you can be taken seriously. You can't have both. I should think you'd want to be selective in your criticism and be taken seriously.

Besides that, I think there may be like 5 people on this board you could truly call "Trump supporters". I think they got the message. People might want to shoot for a larger target of them.

Seriously, what's wrong with his baseball hats? If he wears one while delivering the State of the Union address, I guess... They are red, of course. Most of the ones President Obama wore were blue. So that's ok. Jeez. If he's wearing them in inappropriate venues, like diplomatic meetings, I'd have a problem with it too. Plus... yeah... you can't wear a baseball cap anywhere (except maybe a baseball game) without looking at least 30% more redneck. But they hide his hair, right?
