With the "unwilling to do anything" Euro-zone politicians whose most recent smokescreen has now been seen through. The financial unraveling across the pond will carry over here as less export sales hurting our fragile to non-existent recovery in the long run. Our current POTUS must find this exasperating at best because there is little to nothing he can do about it. At this time I would not say he has this election wrapped up.

Too many scandals going on now that's going to backlash on Obama. Fast and Furious, Solyndra, the Blago travesty which I believe Obama and Rahm Emanuel were involved with. Just too many where monies were misappropriated and not accounted for.

I think there is very reasonable possibility that Obama will win another term. He has a great base of people who still believe what he tells them, he is a sincere and convincing speaker and that can go along way in politics. Secondly the Republican Party has done a terrible job of nominating a real good candidate or of showing leadership and taking control of the power they were given in the house at the last election. Don't get me wrong IMO a Republican president and majority in congress would be much better scenario then another term of Obama. He should show up sometime in history as the worst fiscal responsible of them all and four more years of that would probably take us far enough over the cliff that our country could never recover without declaring bankruptcy.

I can't imagine a country that is so dumb that a majority (or anything close to it) would vote for Obama after the performance that he has turned in so far.

I predict that he will lose by 10 or more percentage points & it could be a landslide. I also don't think that it really matter who runs against him except that they will be the next President.

The reason that there are so many Republican candidates is because Obama is such a weak president. I think anyone can beat Obama if they can get on the ballot.

oldtex you noted on here the other day that Democrats and Repblicans tend to think exactly the opposite on any given political issue. While I'm not sure I agree it's always that stark, I get your point, and largely agree with it.

As much as you think of Obama as a failure, many others do not share your opinion. Many see that he accomplished health care reform, is ending the war in Iraq, and did what he could in the face of an economic meltdown worse than any in our lifetimes. All this while being beaten about by a Republican Congress who will do ANYTHING to see him lose, even at the expense of our country. And they see the Republican alternative, which now could even be Newt.

I'm not proposing that Obama is perfect by any means- many/ most who support him have many complaints with his governance, but they are not at all the same as yours.

I'm sure you find the health care reform to be a Communist plot. I don't think it went nearly far enough. For instance.

So yes, I think he has a very tough fight on his hands, and may or may not be the underdog, depending upon events we can't foresee. But the one we can- the economy- is not tilting in his favor. But he is not a 10 percentage point loser, imo, and he could well win.

Demin...I wasn't going to respond to any of the comments on this thread, just browsing and reading..some chuckles along the way but you I believe said it best in your summation of the facts.. you hit all the points... cudo's to you.

As a Obama supporter, there are many of us...and no , most of those supporters are not lock step in favor of all his actions..when is that ever a happening no matter who is in power..but yes, I personally put a lot of the blame on the previouse party and leadership who was in power, the tax cuts for the wealthy, the part D on RX with no increase in revenue to pay for it, two wars with out a way to pay for the wars..and on and on..what Obama inherited was not just the every day baggage of a defeated party, it was a lot more then that and the financial melt down around the world is a good indication of how bad it was..is still.

The expendatures of the stimulue..with out , who knows how bad it would have been, even with many programs one can question, and his foreign policies and doings , not bad at all..and he is not yet finished, a lot will be happening yet..

I agree , he was inexperienced but over all, I feel, until I see a better one coming from the other side, and not even close yet, and his experienc of almost four yearas in the chair..to me that experience is a positive.

Some of the comments here..to me , ludicrouse..a 10 % beating by the other sides candidate,who ever it would be, when for years now a 1 or 2 % difference is a lot..just to much ..and a childish comment, sorry, way I feel..

A shoo in for reelection? Absolutly not..with the economy, jobs where they are..not good, but a loser guaranteed? Not that either..
The other side did nothing in my opinion to help solve any of the countrys problems..their whole shtick was a negative from the get go of taking office of downing the man and all his ideas and thoughts..{ Remember, turn about can be fair play, if there is a change in leadership and control of houses..}

In some ways, Obama getting in for a second term would be a gift to the Republican party. Our economic troubles are going to continue for a few more years. Might as well let him be the scapegoat.

Hopefully your kidding! Did you forget that Obama was part of the previous administration as well? His leadership from my perspective has been dictated by politics from the beginning and his administration with complete control of congress the first two years was the laughing stock of the world at our economic expense. He personally qualifies as the worst ever in my book!

If the economy next fall is in full recovery mode, Obama's chances will be enhanced. If our strategic interests seem as stable as they are today, Obama looks good. If nothing in particular goes to hell in a hand basket, the Republican candidate will struggle.
If any of our interests internationally is in turmoil, Obama will be in a peck of trouble. If the European crisis is as bad as now or worse, Obama will be in a corner. If the economy and employment figures aren't significantly better than now, the Republican candidate will be on easy street.
Today, it's hard to tell.
