I'm just wondering. My (new) DH has always simply ordered them from a take-out place. He gets a medium, and it's always $20 plus tip (figure $25, more or less). He says he eats it only once or twice a year. I did this a couple of times with him and was absolutely dismayed at how little pizza he ate. I'm a single topping kind-of-gal. So today I bought a frozen pizza for myself, but got the supreme just in case. The "just in case" worked. He said he might try a slice or two. Afterward, he said it wasn't the best pizza ever but it was "nice." Tombstone was on sale for $3 less at Publix today (the brand I bought) so we turned a $20 pizza into a $3 pizza. Anyone else converted "connoisseurs" into cheapers thanks to sales, etc? It would kill be me to pay $25 for a pizza that got 3 slices eaten. We haven't had any new threads in a few days, which is the sole purpose of t h is one.

No. But I have eaten pizza bought frozen after it was baked in the oven. No good suggestions as I avoid dairy for my sinuses and buy Amy's Frozen Veggie Pizza(no cheese).

I get frozen pizza every once in awhile. It's easy and fun to make from scratch, too, and you can buy pre-made pizza dough. My brother swears by Walmart frozen pizza. Your post reminded me that I have a Target spinach and goat cheese pizza in the freezer. That will make a perfect dinner tonight!

I don't usually buy frozen pizza. It just doesn't taste right to me. I usually just make homemade or order it from a pizza place.

The better frozen pizzas (to me) are the rising crust type (think Digorno (spelling-?) ) . And, they're definitely cheaper than picking one up at the pizza place, or getting delivery.

DH and I used to buy Digiorno's and California Pizza Kitchen pizzas a lot... then DH started making pizza from scratch (well, canned sauce and boxed crust mix) and now the others taste really salty to me. If not for that, I'd definitely pick frozen over take-out - I can't imagine spending $20 every time I wanted some pizza - I'd be broke!

We don't have any really great pizza places in town, so I actually prefer CA Pizza Kitchen's thin crust frozen pizzas. I usually add a little bit extra cheese, but nothing else is really needed. Sometimes DS will come over with a Little Caesar's, Dominos, or Pizza Hut and I think they're all terrible.
Another alternative is to buy the WalMart premade pizza crust (from the bakery) and make our own, but quite frankly, if you start with a CA Pizza Kitchen cheese pizza and doctor it up, it's better and cheaper.

I do. They are an easy fast food when I just don't feel like cooking. I find Delisio the best. If I'm in the mood I add more Mozzerella cheese.

I haven't had the CA Kitchen ones. Maybe I will try one of those someday. I know I like the restaurant.

Sometimes, but when it costs $5 for a Digornio pizza that we will eat in one sitting or a $5.99 Papa John's pizza that we can eat for two meals, we go for the Papa John's.

We dont eat frozen. We really like the Papa Murphy's take home and bake. They always have coupons and our favorite (pepperoni delight) is $6 with the coupon.

I didn't mind Papa Murphy's (they were never great but they were a good price) but the last two I bought were just terrible. I haven't been back (should have said something but I didn't).
I'll pay the extra for good pizza.

We had a medium pepperoni and cheese this evening with a hot wings for $16.22
Frozen pizza is sounding good, I hope it does taste good.

If you can find it at your local grocery store, you should try the Boboli's pizza. Each pack comes with one crust and one sauce for less than $4 then just get a pack of shredded cheese to put on there and whatever other toppings you want. It's even cheaper going to BJs where they sell packs of 3 crusts and sauce for $7.99. That's $2.67 for crust and sauce each, so you can make a pizza for like $3-$4. It's not frozen pizza. It's pizza you make yourself and it tastes MUCH better than frozen pizza...coming from someone who used to eat at least one frozen pizza every week before I discovered the Boboli's pizza.

DH and I like Tombstone frozen pizza. We buy a bunch when it's onsale for when we don't feel like doing anything major for dinner or want something quick. Currently, my fav is the Pepperoni. Periodically, we do order from a local pizza joint by our house that delivers or Pizza Hut every once in a while. Just depends.

we buy either Digiorno or Freschetta. I like Freschetta best, but just depends on the price. I just started a gluten free diet, so won't be eating things like this anymore . I know I can find GF crust, but I haven't looked into that yet. But frozen is definitely cheaper than the pizza around here.

I keep frozen pizza in the freezer for nights when I just don't feel like cooking (we don't eat pizza much though). I like that DS can pretty much cook it himself We also do the boboli crust and make our own, but most often, when we want pizza, we get papa murphy's, pizza places are just way too expensive for my taste (the only "cheap" pizza place we have here is Domino's, we'll also do that on occasion). I used to work in a pizza place and miss being able to get really good pizza there, but we live.

motherto2, Amy's has some GF frozen pizzas available, and I found another brand that was stocked at my grocery store last winter. I'll have to pay attention next time I'm in there to grab the brand name. it can be done. southernsusana, I'll echo the CPK choices. I also like Kashi's frozen pizzas too. just keep in mind it's uber-healthy, the crust is going to be a little 'off' from what you're used to. I don't routinely do the frozen pizza dinner, but I will pick a couple up when they are on sale for those night when we've just lost track of time and all the (decent) pizza places around my house are closed.

We do eat frozen pizzas sometimes, either Digiorno's or Freschetta, or ( confession time ), the ultra-thin crust pizzas sent out by Angel Food Network in their monthly packages. If you put a lot of hot peppers and some extra vegetables on them, they aren't half bad.

I like Trader Joe's frozen pizza. The 4 cheese, or the margherita with grana padano is quite tasty. They have a great supreme pizza (parlano) as well. As has been said, its a great "I don't feel like cooking a complicated dinner" type of food.
But they are LOADED with salt and calories. 2 slices serving size my butt...

I'm not a big Pizza eater. My wonderful DH is, and picks up a few slices at Whole Foods from time to time.

This thread made me break down and order pizza tonight. I've been perfecting my homemade version for the past several months, with good results, but I have a broken ankle and our washing machine flooded our main floor tonight. After the mop up, I couldn't bear the thought of cooking. Ordered from the place that's four blocks away, and when the delivery guy arrived, he handed me an "It's on us!" card along with our pizza and salad! So our dinner was the price of an extravagant tip. Yay! On topic, we occasionally do frozen pizzas. I add herbs, cheese, olives, hot banana peppers, and jalapenos. It's still got the frozen crust factor, but easy as heck when I don't want to cook. ;D

I used to love those really trashy Totino's frozen combo pizzas. So bad. Yum yum.

I LOVE pizza and probably eat it 3x/month-usually frozen. We have some GREAT places around here: Unos, Lou Malnatti & Edwardos but the cost can easily top $25 for 4 servings + delivery charge + tip. I don't remember the last time I ordered or got carry out (save delivery charge & tip).
While I frequently get cheap frozen pizzia & add seasonings & mushrooms I even more frequently make my own either w/homemade crust or on hollowed out french bread rolls (I save the insides for bread crumbs).

We do eat frozen pizza, and once in a great while, we have to take advantage of all the Chicago Pizza places we have.
However, the best is at my local Italian Grocery/Deli. They sell "pizza kits" where you get enough dough, sauce, cheese, and meat for 3 pizzas. 10 bucks and it's delicious!

I thought I lived in the land of expensive food. $20 plus tip/delivery for a medium pizza. I guess the ones with more toppings can be expensive. I get emails from Papa Johns and I've seen 5 toppings on a large for $10.99 regularly. I can't quite figure out where the hell they are in relation to my apartment and usually I'm starving if I'm getting pizza so I go with the local chain I can find. Its $13 for a small with pepperoni and mushrooms and a big caesar salad. Its two meals for me.
I could understand not eating all the leftovers from a frozen pizza but from one you ordered from a pizza place? If you heat it up in the oven its really not that bad. I try to keep some stuff like the little digornio pizzas or other frozen stuff for when I just don't want to cook.

Don't fall for it WVU! All the ads say $10.99, then they add tax and a delivery charge and the opps charge and suddenly you are over $20.

They used to be a staple in our house. We would just get the one store brand( Wegmans) and add extra toppings ourselves. We have since starting making our own because DS is allergic to the soy oil in the frozen ones. But DH still brings home a frozen one once in while if he wants pizza for lunch. And DH easily plows through the frozen ones on his own in one sitting. When we splurge and get take out we get one from Picasso's. It's about $30 for DH's pizza and wings but it lasts DH all weekend.
