Crap, meghan. How expensive is sushi in Philly? You need to move out here. We have a new(ish) sushi place that has really good sushi at really awesome prices.

I know of a lot of places around here where I could spend $158 on dinner easy. Seafood's not cheap but oh so good when its fresh. And in some alcohol and you have that kind of bill easy.

I agree if there's alcohol involved, but I'm wondering how expensive meghan's dinners are if $158 sounds like heaven. It sounds like sushi in Philly is a lot more expensive than that. Minus the alchol, DH and I can get take out from our local place for the two of us for around $50. I didn't realize how lucky we are.

I'm not a big sushi fan but I used to go with my ex bf and his sister and her bf. We could run up a $100 tab easy without alcohol. Wonder if it was more expensive there bc WV is landlocked? I'm thinking if you got a few different rolls here there are some places that would run you $75 or better. Everything is just expensive here compared to Morgantown/Pittsburgh.

No, we never buy frozen pizza. We get pizza from papa murphies twice a month or so on Saturday movie night.

No, I meant $158 in sushi sounded like heaven because that would be a shit ton of gorging going on! Sushi is not expensive at all, depending on what you order, of course.

I don't eat sushi so I don't know how much it costs. But he says this place has really fresh sushi and some unusual stuff. He's from AZ by way of California so he probably is ordering top shelf stuff.
But there was also definitely alcohol involved. He's retired and likes wine even with lunch. Not a lot, but good stuff. It makes me laugh since I have to play the "It's five o'clock somewhere" card before I'll even let myself have a beer at 4:30.

We always spend $100+ when going japanese. We get drinks, and usually get tempura, too. I know there are some "bargains" out there - but if there is one thing I won't skimp on - it is sushi.

We buy frozen pizza dough balls at Sams, $16.50 for a case of 20. Take out a few in the morning, make the pizza after work with whatever sauce, cheese, toppings you have in the refridgerator - easy and quick for pizza night. I still prefer homemade but the premade dough is super quick, I can get dinner on the table in about half an hour. Faster than delivery in this neck of the woods! Can top with herbs for foccaccia style bread to serve with soup or stew, also.

I've gotten a small one, once with an ex-BF. my table has ordered them when I've got out with friends, but I usually steer clear because I can't do shellfish or tobikko in my sushi. the boat that my exBF and I ordered was at a place around the corner from my house, that I trusted not to give me either when I mentioned my allergy. it helps to know your sushi chef.
