I was up late one night and decided to make pizza dough from the Sapranno's cookbook. The recipe gave me 4 crusts so I froze three with the shredded cheeses and pepperoni. The one we ate was very good. The dough cost about .46 to make. The kneading keeps my muscles strong and the dough fills my tummy.

I live in the land of Pizza - a slice or pie is rarely more than 3 blocks away (and it's any variety from mom and pop pizza place, to bar pizza, to retail chain pizza). So, no I don't buy frozen pizza. I also don't eat alot of pizza if it's just me (I'm single). Pizza is a "get together" food in my world so I tend to eat it several times a month - usually with a group of people. I did experiment with making pizza dough from scratch - came out very good - but since I'm single and don't eat it often at home alone so even making less and in smaller portions was alot. If I was hankering for home made pizza I'd probably go the 'prepared crust' route - either a single serving pita, or a single nan, or an actual packaged baked "flat bread" and then add my own tomato sauce (or maybe cream cheese mix) and toppings.

I don't. I either make my own, or I buy fresh. The most I might do is buy dough from a pizza place, if I want to make my own, but don't have the time to make the dough from scratch.

I don't know where you live, but if you're in Ontario, try the President's Choice Blue Menu Roasted Red Pepper and Chicken. Yummo!
We also recently tried two flavours from McCain's International Something-Something (can't remember the full name) because they were on sale at $2.99 for one.
The PC one is usually $5.99 but sometimes is on sale for $4 or $5. We prefer the PC one but are open to trying new sale-priced frozen pizzas. The McCain's was tasty but PC is our clear winner so we likely won't buy McCain's again.

Sometimes I buy a frozen pizza for when we have a busy week and I have no interest in cooking, but we live within blocks of a number of pizza places, so we normally order fresh and walk to pick it up. It's not like it's saving too much. A frozen pizza (Giant brand) is $5. A large pizza from down the block is $12. I'd rather pay more for a superior product.

I discovered Digiorno stuffed cheese pizza. Sausage and pepperoni and the crust is stuffed with cheese. Large size runs about $6.50 and there are coupons out all the time. Pizza Inn has one similar that runs $12.00.

We used to buy them quite a bit. We eat it mainly for the convenience, and not necessarily the low cost. Lately, we've been getting Little Caesar's takeout. They're hot and ready, and only $5 - which isn't much more than Digiorno's or Freschetta. I think they taste better than anything you buy at the grocery.

We don't generally eat frozen pizza, although we do like the CA Kitchen's frozen pizza on occasion.
We generally order from a local mom-and-pop place. I think their pizza runs about $20 for a large with the toppings we like. I've tried several frozen pizzas but don't really like them.

I've tried to "save" by eating frozen pizza but so far have not found a brand I like. I am lucky, my great uncle owns a pizza place so if I want to save, I go eat pizza there for free! We rarely get pizza anymore, it isn't worth the price. If we are going to pay for it I've been trying to get DH to order it either from Pizza King or Lansky's. We have to pick it up but it's worth it to me, they are quality pizzas and I can't find a frozen one that compares (probably has to do with the ovens). I don't eat most chain pizza. If I am in a mood for one it's either Papa John's or Pizza Counter. I used to like Dominoes but their new recipe is nasty.

We usually do frozen pizza one night a week. Usually one of the nights my older son has soccer practice as we don't get home until 6:30 and the kids go to bed at 8. We like them. We sometimes doctor them up with habenero and extra cheese, but "as-is" is good too.
Lately we've been doing the $10 any size, any topping deal at Pizza Hut, getting a large and just piling on everything and anything. It ends Saturday, so we'll have to plan that for one more night this week!

DH is not a big pizza eater so I usually get the small Digiornos just for myself. They are actually pretty good for a nuked pizza (come with a little crisper tray).

We live in the boonies.. so frozen pizza is a must in our house. I prefer Red Baron, but lately we've been getting Jack's. We throw some extra cheese on it and it is good to go. The best pizza place is right next door to my office, but they are so expensive. But so good.

Frozen pizza is disgusting. My husband eats it and when he insists that is what he is eating for dinner, I have a bowl of cereal and sit in the other room. That isn't real food. I'll gladly pay the twenty bucks than save money on that. I swear, eating the cardboard it comes on is better than eating the pizza.
I do agree that the Bobolia crust is good and easy to make homemade. I have recently found a store that sells dough for a buck when we want homemade.

I love those Totino's pizzas - $1 at the store. And they taste like childhood to me. Don't judge me.

Costco sells a 20 pack of Pita bread that makes excellent single serving pizzas. Sometimes DF and I split one if we are also having a salad or something. We always have tomato sauce (homemade) in the fridge.

The best frozen pizza that I like is Frescettos (sp) portobella mushrooms with spinach.

We usually keep a frozen pizza or two in the freezer for a fast lunch or emergency dinner. We either get DiGiorno, or a local brand of frozen pizza that I call "the best bad pizza you'll ever eat." It's not good, but somehow it's still great. I can't explain it.

I definitely buy frozen pizza. The brands don't matter because we have different brands here but it's one of the "staples" in our freezer for when we're not home and a couple of kids need a quick, easy meal. BUT, I also freeze "real" (take-out) pizza. I'm don't know how it works in the US, but here, if you pick it up yourself rather than get it delivered, it's buy one, get one free. Since we're frugal, and we only tend to order take-out pizza when we have a kids' party, I tend to over-order. Oops! ;-) So I happily freeze the leftovers as individual slices in a zip-lock baggy. I LOVE pizza, so I'm very happy to eat those leftover pizza slices for days in a row. :-) We also like to make our own sometimes, but that's not the subject of this thread.

Too funny . . . my DH just asked if we had any of that (previously frozen) pizza left for dinner. I threw it out, thinking he wouldn't eat it again. I'd say I was converting him except I saw the $158 receipt for him taking just my DIL to a sushi restaurant. How and why? Lol. I'm saving $15 bucks or so on pizza and he's spending 10X my savings on sushi? We have separate accounts before anyone screams. I obviously married someone with better taste buds than mine <g>.

LOL SS. I would cry if somebody threw out my frozen leftover "real" pizza LOL.
Wow! Sushi is so common here, that seems like a HUGE bill for sushi for two! I am literally the only person I know who doesn't like sushi. I can do sashimi. I don't mind the raw fish (although I don't love it), but I just can't face eating cold rice and seaweed.

$158 for sushi for two sounds kind of expensive, but not super expensive if there was alcohol too. I'm eating sushi as I type this, and it was $22 for three kinds of rolls and a salad. I got carry out.
