On the toplc of the thread. . .There was one, y'know. . . the vote is now 12.5 to 1. desi, m'boy, bills, and you too Tennesseer, (you stepped right up and took exception to the thread early, remember?). I just thought the spread might be worth mentioning since that part of the thread has been left so far behind us.
Just a reminder that we are not really alone here. Over a quarter million votes and 86 plus % are opposed to the Obama plan for Israel. I wonder if he ever took a course in diplomacy and how foreign policy works. I even wonder if he has anybody on his staff that ever took one.

Self-selected voters answering a question raised on a media website has what connection to international "diplomacy and how foreign policy works"?

None but things like that never stop some for saying they do.
Krickett, because a leader is no longer, does not mean that laws, agreements and things like treaties are no longer in effect because of their absence from the scene. You really have to stop just typing and consider what you are saying, other wise it gets embarrassing.

Young, Jewish American liberals complaining about their reception by Israelis when they protest there. Could be their comparing Israel's treatment of Palestinians to the Holocaust..can't imagine why the Israelis would be sensitive to that.. Reminds me of illegals protesting here. Yes, it makes me mad when they do that.

It is a democracy, Israel, as much as here , and also more political there then here, didn't you know that?
Their legislature, the Knesset is made up of many parties each with their own axe to grind and most governments are formed by coalition, meaning a small block, say three , to six legislatures join with one of the larger ones , and the clout and pressure they can put on that ruling majority is tremendous , way out of proportion then their actual represented #'s.
Example the orthodox religious, most Israeli's are not observant , but the orthodox rule the country on many issues, to many to go through here , even though the majority of Israeli's resent that and the rules that are enforced.
There is a large more liberal following in the country, looking for more then what "Bibi" is saying has to be, and yes they are also very concerned about security, but they are not happy with the status quo either.
To be comparing the treatment of the Palestinians toward the Holocaust is stupid, there was only one Holocaust but these are young people who even as young Jews, have no clue as to what that period, before it in the 30's up to the end of it in "45" was really like, but if they wanted to compare the treatment in some ways to the separation of Jews from society, restrictions of the Ghettos of European Jews in the middle ages, well in some ways, a more likely scenario. Different and then again , not so different.
"Yes, it makes me mad when they do that"
You seem to get mad a lot over every little thing, and while sometimes it probably is a correct reaction, other times, possible know more about the topic before getting mad. There might be a reason behind a happening , and if you knew more about it, possible still get mad but not as mad.
Possible example here in the demonstrations, , demonstrate against a certain government policy by the young demonstrators, their right, leave the comparison to the Holocaust home, because in that, it's just plain stupid.

Remember Yogi Berra, the catcher for the New York Yankees who had with such a way with words until you had to hear them twice to understand what they meant, like, “When you come to a fork in the road, take it”, “It’s deja vu all over again:, "You can observe a lot by watching", “It gets late early here”, and so on. We have among us a poster that reminds me of Yogi. I wasn’t aware of the connection until just a short while ago. I knew there was something about his posts that created an awful lot of double-takes, but I couldn’t really place the foggy context or nail down what was so magnetic about his writing style. Maybe it was like that with Yogi Berra in the early stages, too, but once you got accustomed to Yogi-talk everything he said made perfect sense. So much so it bordered on genius. Heck, maybe it was genuis. Perhaps I have too much time on my hands, but I was just now reviewing some of the posts here that I have previously puzzled over. I finally realized I have been reading a modernized Yogi Berra. He doesn’t post under that name, but he’s here and he’s one of our own. There can’t be two of him anywhere. We ought to be proud that he’s ours. I thought it would be a worthwhile effort to pick off a few “Yogi related" quotes and post them just to see if others have noticed the similarities between our Yogi and the real Yogi. most governments are formed by coalition, meaning a small block, say three , to six legislatures join with one of the larger ones
to many to go through here
looking for more then what "Bibi" is saying
what some don't think is that their S doesn't stink
comparing the treatment of the Palestinians toward the Holocaust
here in the demonstrations, , demonstrate against a certain government policy by the young demonstrators I have to apologize for any lack of understanding I have exhibited to the owner of these "Yogi-isms" in the past, I'll try to do better in the future as it . . . . passes us.

I’m with God on this one and the Jews that wrote his words. Fuck the Palestine’s this is the land of the chosen people. The UN (servants of god) said it belongs to them because the U.S. sure as hell didn’t want them, and Texas would be a little smaller.

In speech Netanyahoo admits Obama said nothing new. He thought he coud lie like Fox and bought off Pubs, was reminded most Israelis know the facts- time for the West to pay off BOTH sides and get a final peace. There is one thing that I don't think will happen, possible if it is a sticking point, other nations might join in , including the wealthy Arab countries, European and then our contribution too. What is that I am referring to. In the past, when Israel retreated from the Sinai, we , US, paid billions, over the amount guaranteed in aid yearly to Egypt and Israel, to pay for reconstruction of military bases in Israel to replace the ones they had developed in the Sinai, I doubt many her realize or are aware of those expenditures. ----------------------------------------------------------------- "The first followed the signing of the Israel-Egypt peace treaty and Israel's withdrawal from the Sinai. The redeployment of Israeli forces and rebuilding of air bases in the Negev cost $5 billion. To partially compensate for this sacrifice, Israel received $3 billion ($2.2 billion of which was in the form of high-interest loans) in U.S. aid in 1979. -------------------------------------------------------------- IF there is EVER a peace signed, I am sure the same request will be asked from us regarding settlements turned over to the Palestinians, and also from the Palestinians if land and property's are given in exchange for the movement of Israeli settlements. Will we say NO? I say Yes , say NO, unless the rest of the involved parties also kick in as it would benefit all parties if a peace could be gotten here. Just my opinion. www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/US-Israel/foreign_aid.html

The vote is now better than 12 to 1 against Omama's position.
A position that was never Obama's, 12 to 1 are against a scenario made up by Fox news to sucker in those who cannot read Obama's speech.
Obama's proposal is an attempt to circumvent UN Resolution 242 and would dilute Israel of its authority to negotiate its own future.
Since you refuse to post a quote from Obama showing that he actually said what Fox news claims (don't worry we know you can't because Obama never did say it) why don't you instead post the portion of UN Resolution 242 that says Israel doesn't have the right to negotiate border positions as part of a peace treaty. (it's ok, we know that 242 doesn't actually say that) Is there anything else you'd like to 'claim' Obama said?
