I do not have kids in school. However as a parent, are you going to cyber school, home school or just see what is happening with your local public school? It's looking more and more like our area schools will not be opening. I moved my son to a private school because they did a lot better with the online teaching this Spring, but it's really just a crap shoot at this point. I considered just enrolling him in an online school from the get go, but I did want to make sure he had a spot in this private eventually anyhow. I just wasn't planning on it until at least 7th grade (he's going into 5th).

Got my first puberty related question from Gwen yesterday. My baby isn't supposed to be old enough to ask me about puberty yet!😪

WI Beth - thanks for mentioning that your clot may be from how you sit at work. The last few weeks, I've noticed that I have an indent in the muscles on my right outer thigh. Last night it dawned on me that it's from my left foot when I sit cross legged in my office chair. I know that stupid bad habit contributed to weakness in my back from my spine being off center - I had a back injury about 3 years ago that thankfully is mostly recovered.
I wouldn't have figured it out without your post on another thread.
Now if I can just stop myself from sitting that way. It's such an ingrained habit and how I feel 'naturally' positioned when I'm working for hours. I've tried wearing shoes to remind my feet to stay on the floor but eventually I just tuck them up anyway. Any suggestions?

Nope. I'm fighting with the same issue. I want to sit with my left foot tucked under/next to my right thigh. It's hard to reprogram 45+ years of body habits!

azucena/ Wisconsin Beth - invest in a convertible desk - one of the best value for the money - staples had one for 130$ or so - it's not as nice as the one I had in the office, but still allows me to stand for a while - I am in meetings all day and need to use my computer at the same time and it has helped a lot.

I have a standing desk in the office but I rarely use it.
Mostly comes down to the majority of the time I'm too exhausted to stand for even small periods and can't get over the hurdle of forcing myself to do it anyway. I have to force myself to do so many things during the day particularly when I'm overwhelmed which seems to be where I live these days - that standing is just a screw that.
And now I sound like she-who-shall-not-be-mentioned. At least I own my whining.
I'm burnt out. Kids have been melting down on basically a daily basis. Our isolation has reached a not healthy line. Trying to change what I can without sending myself further into anxiety which could then trigger depression.
Yesterday afternoon, DD7 lost her mind when I wouldn't let her drink from a teapot that was in a handmedown box of toys. It's a metal teapot and rusty inside. Pretending wasn't enough.
The night before it was her dolls hair was messed up. Both resulted in screaming fits in her room for over an hour. Too much when my nerves and patience are already non-existent.
Add in DD11 coming in at 10:30 last night and saying that the reason she's so scared of high school and also wants to go to boarding school is because she's afraid of school shootings. Again, I didn't have patience to address it then so sent her to bed which means she was yelling at me as she went.

I see my therapist on 8/6 - counting the days.
All things considered, I'm thankful that my meds and learned coping skills are keeping me afloat relatively 'well' at this point given my life this year.

azucena, I know what you mean - I have to force myself too. But after I stand for a while, I feel much better. Hope your days get better soon.

I need something to keep me from sitting here day after day staring off into space. I'm don't think my meds will need adjusting but it will probably help to take them. Oops. Off to the pill box!

You have so many balls in the air to juggle, between your family and job at any time, and then adding COVID would cause anyone to drop a few. Have you thought of doing yoga with your girls? Something, anything, to add some relief to the pressure. Best to you.

Just out of curiosity, I'm cleaning out some of the more useless of DH's stuff. By that I mean a cabinet of newspapers. He had this thought that saving newspapers from 9/11 and the capture and execution of a worthless one, were going to bring me big bucks when he died. Tell me it's ok to use them in the firepit.

Totally ok. Those kinds of things only have value if it is rare and in demand. Considering THOUSANDS of papers across the nation would have ran the exact same stories there is going to be zero demand for the copy your husband kept.

I've tried wearing shoes to remind my feet to stay on the floor but eventually I just tuck them up anyway. Any suggestions? I have figured out how to do two worthwhile things when I got myself a smaller cup of water on my desk instead of a giant water bottle. A cup reminds me to drink more water and because it's small, it makes me move more often. I have to get up couple of times a day to refill the cup. And I need to use the bathroom several times as well, so just need to make sure I don't combine the two and actually get up and walk around more. It might not work as well when you're working from home as it's probably not a very long walk but I would think every little bit helps. Another poster here, can't remember who it was at the moment, added one of those small under-the-desk stationary bikes to get some exercise while working. Would that be an option for you? Hang in there!

I got a new chair from staples that doesn't make me want to sit like that as much. I'm getting so many stupid ergonomic issues now that I'm old!

So daughter’s school is saying people in high risk states (as defined by NY) have to isolate in NY for 2 weeks before school. Boyfriend’s mom is worried that while we are not designated so now, we very well may be before start date... so we are now looking at maybe moving in a week? to... a hotel? Gah.

Yuck. Living in a hotel for 2 weeks sounds inconvenient, AND expensive! I'm kind of wishing DS would have chose the #2 school on his list because they seem to really have their shit together with this. They have two dorms they were going to tear down that have instead been kept as quarantine/testing buildings. All students will be tested coming in with less than 24 hour turnaround on the results and they are doing a lot more classes in person, but they really gone all out with making the classrooms safer (including fun things like zip tying every other auditorium seat so they physically can't sit next to each other. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/lol.gif) ) We haven't heard much of anything yet, but I think that is mostly because they are at the mercy of the governor and he isn't making his school decisions until Thursday.

She’s going to boyfriend’s tonight and will talk to his parents then. There is a hotel offering $700 for 2 weeks per person and they could share but I’m like, that sounds unpleasant... and then what do they eat for 2 weeks... I am also not prepared for her to leave in a week... I’ve been easing up to it lol...

WFH has forced me paperless so I don't think I'd have that complaint any more. Never realized it.

I’m doing some research but also figured I’d ask here. Anyone know anything about Roblox? Okay for an 8yo boy (heading into 3rd grade) to play? C asked about getting it - a kid at daycare with him this summer has it and let’s C play/watch him play some times when they can use devices during the younger kiddos’ nap time.
I will also add that we are not gamers unless it’s a board game or card game. We don’t have any gaming systems, and while we have an iPad that he can occasionally use, it doesn’t have games on it other than some learning games, PBS Kids app, etc.

Never realized it. www.staples.com/staples-sorina-bonded-leather-chair-gray-53253/product_24328568I had my husband find it in his emails. Staples has a million office chairs, it seems. I chose this one because it has a really cushy seat, and I think the shape of it helps me sit straighter side-to-side. However, I've found that I still tend to hunch over (which messes up my shoulders), so I've been adding a flat rectangular pillow behind my lower back. Maybe a chair with more lumbar support would be better, but it's working for me fairly well. As far as going paperless, I'm not a big fan. I've been trying to adjust doing AP paperless, and it's taking so much more time. I'm getting another monitor tomorrow, so I'll have 3 screens to work with. I'm hoping that will help a lot, because I could probably actually use 4.

It is a platform for people to create games on, so there are many different games you can play on there, with varying quality. My kids' current obsession is Bee Swarm Simulator. They even have my husband playing it now. I think they've played theme park tycoon before. There are more violent type games on it too, so you just have to watch what they're playing. We have to ban certain ones occasionally. Special characters in some games can cost real $$, which I hate, but my DH allows occasionally. I guess they can spend their money on a plastic toy, or virtual toy, it's still kind of a waste.
