Life sometimes sucks. I found out last week that my former best friend has ovarian cancer. She’s 39, turns 40 in February. She finds out this week on the stage and the treatment plan.. I had texted my friend a couple of times yesterday but she hadn’t responded. I was going to text her this morning to see how her doctor’s appointment went. Found out via Facebook this morning (one of the posts from her sister) that my former best friend died last night. She was a great friend and will be missed. She was 39. 😭😭😭

Apparently ovarian cancer is still the nasty bitch she was 25 years ago. and with symptoms like this it is likely to stay that way for a long time:
"Early-stage ovarian cancer rarely causes any symptoms. Advanced-stage ovarian cancer may cause few and nonspecific symptoms that are often mistaken for more common benign conditions.
Signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer may include:
Abdominal bloating or swelling Quickly feeling full when eating Weight loss Discomfort in the pelvis area Changes in bowel habits, such as constipation A frequent need to urinate"
www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/ovarian-cancer/symptoms-causes/syc-20375941
Who hasn't experienced these symptoms (except maybe for the weight loss → I seem to be immune to that)?

Making Gwen put away all the clothes I had to pick up off her floor and clean.
It's insane and I'm not done. I told her think about this whenever you feel the need to throw stuff on the ground.

Oh taz157 I am SO SO sorry. That is absolutely heartbreaking. Indeed, life is not fair. I know this is absolutely none of my business, but please, Taz, see the fertility specialist. Make an appt. If you don't feel like it when the appt comes around, you can always cancel it and make another one. But PLEASE make one, soon.

Unfortunately, I don’t know what her symptoms were. I knew she had gone to the ER 1.5 weeks ago for anemia and she was admitted. 3 days later, she was told she may have cancer. 2 days after that she was told that she did have ovarian cancer. On the day she was supposed to get stage and treatment plan, she passed away that night at the hospital (after she had been released earlier from her earlier stay). I don’t know what happened during all this time except what my friend told me.

There won’t be a funeral for my friend but they are having a memorial at another person’s house on Saturday night. I’m planning on going. It would be 5.5 hour drive there and I’d spend the night in that area. I’m debating whether to drive myself, have DH drive with me, or have my mom drive with me. I’m preferring to drive myself but DH doesn’t like that idea. Decisions...

Making Gwen put away all the clothes I had to pick up off her floor and clean. It's insane and I'm not done. I told her think about this whenever you feel the need to throw stuff on the ground. I mean, she won't. Because children are mostly assholes. My 5-4-3-2-1 system has still been successful, but less than during the initial burst of energy. And today I found the drill left in the garage from a "project" 10 days ago and then noticed that when DH abandoned cleaning the gutters 10 minutes in because it was drizzling, he just left everything where it was. Which, I must point out, is how there is a bag of leaves FROM LAST YEAR SITTING ON OUR FUCKING PATIO. I'm trying hard not to lose my shit tonight. Im still the one pushing the girls to do their chores, and I'm doing more than ever, naturally. He's also doing more but still not enough to even begin to clos the gap. with that said, my house is approaching something I would consider livable. And the daily investment is helping our weekends be more relaxed or letting us tackle bigger projects without getting behind on everything else.

Taz - I am so sorry for your loss. Ovarian cancer is wicked.
As far as your DH and driving, do what is best for you. After all you've been through of late, you need to take care the best care possible of yourself.

FWIW, my maternal grandmother had ovarian cancer just before she turned 50. She was treated and lived until she was 82. My mom said that it was basically a fluke that it was caught as early as was considering this happened in the early 70s.
OTOH, my former boss’s former wife died 2 months after she was diagnosed in the early 2000s.
