I put dryer sheets in mine when not wearing them. Also wear socks. Dry outside and you could try Clorox wipes. A guy I know used to wipe down his feet with Clorox wipes before and after wearing shoes because of his foot odor but he swore it was his feet not his shoes.

Pants why do you stay? He really seems to be adding nothing but stress and unhappiness to your life. I have no doubt that there are some good points but do they really outweigh all of the bullshit he puts you through? I should say that I don't advocate just walking out on a marriage. All relationships have ups and downs and it's important to try hard to work through issues, particularly when children are involved. At the same time, when you've tried and tried and tried I don't see any shame in deciding that a marriage is just not working and it's healthier for everyone involved to separate. Getting real honest here, there are a few different factors. But they essentially boil down to needing ducks to be in rows, and not knowing how to break someone's heart. If the positions were reversed would he care about breaking your heart?

Question...What to do about stinky kid feet/shoes? I've tried wiping down the inside of the shoes with rubbing alcohol with no luck. We have a regular washer so I'm hesitant to put them in there, but will probably do that next. But bigger question is how to cut down on stinkiness before it gets that bad? C's feet are super sweaty and omg smelly. I swear he baths. He's worn new shoes about 3 times and they're already turning. Did you try baking soda on the insoles? We put shoes in our front loader, but I can see not wanting to put shoes in with an agitator. Sometimes, it really is the shoes and not the feet. Yeah, I agree. My teen has sweaty stinky feet, but one pair of shoes in particular just seems to hold onto the smell no matter what. Even throwing them in the washer doesn't get the funk completely out. He has some hiking shoes that he's been wearing now instead of his tennis shoes and they just don't seem to get bad even wearing them every day. But, speaking of feet... A couple months ago when I was at the doctor for thyroid check I complained about my big toe with toenail fungus that I've been treating with every over the counter med for a couple years with no result. I asked if there was any prescription stuff I could use and he said Terbinafine, but you have to take it for a long time and it can be kind of nasty for some people and cause liver damage. We talked it over and went over my liver tests and I decided to take it, even thought he said if it was him he'd just leave it. Well, it's been about 7 weeks now and while it will be a year before my toenail looks normal if this works, my feet are AMAZING!
I have been suffering for as long as I can remember with cracked heels and dry feet. They were really nasty, and I was always trying to rasp them smooth and rubbing foot cream on them every night after showers. Now, only 7 weeks after taking this stuff, the skin is baby smooth and no cracks or dry spots! I must have had some kind of fungal infection that I didn't even know about and this wiped it out.
Now cross my fingers I'm not killing my liver for nice feet.

I put baking soda in his shoes the other day and filled socks with baking soda to leave in his new shoes as well. He freaked out about the baking soda in his shoes. These are the new ones and we had to leave super early yesterday morning for his endocrinologist appointment so I didn't take another sniff to see the effect.
His sandals from the summer are truly tragic. I will try tossing them in the washing machine today. I can see 2 pairs of sandals over the summer potentially. But he has gigantic feet and we end up spending a lot on shoes that are comfortable so I don't know how many pairs I could realistically have in stock to rotate through all the time. He has vans and merrills right now, but the days activities determine which to wear, and we'll have to deal with snow boots soon too. I can get a bag to hang on the line outside and start putting the unworn shoes out in the morning.
I'll check out the spray. He hates lotion, but might be okay with a spray. The endo checks him over including his feet every 3 months so I don't think he has an infection or they would have said something yesterday. Do you spray that on morning or night, or both?

Speaking of the endo, over the last 3 months C grew and inch and put on 5 pounds which was surprising. She guessed that our month of highs were from growing and expects him to shoot up again in height between now and our next appointment. So we'll have countless more times that I say things like, "dude, you're really high!" around people that have no idea what I mean and think I'm a horribly inappropriate parent. His A1C was 7.4 which was great and he's held steady at that for basically a year which is really encouraging.

1) Odoban. You can get a spray bottle at Walmart or online. Its magic. It kills the cause of the odor so the stink is really gone, not just covered up. 2) vodka. The cheaper the better. I mix half & half with water in a spray bottle. Soak the shoes down and let them sit in the sun to dry or throw them in a deep freeze. No more stink

And tea tree oil, and apple cider vinegar, and every over the counter remedy. Nothing touched it even after using religiously for months on end. I don't know if the script will work either, but it SEEMS to be working. The bottom 20% or so of the nail now all looks healthy, and the new nail growing in is clear. Whether it stays that way until all the crap stuff grows off I don't know. The big toenail grows incredibly sloooooow.

I feel like we are living in the same world at times. <3 Sam, I know part of why I get so mad at your husband is because it somewhat echoes my own life. It's different because we're in a detente now - I stopped fighting a long time ago and now we just bob along. Noone's happy, but noone fights. For now it is what it is. And I also know that one of the reasons I have been able to stay in this marriage is that my husband is neither mean nor cruel. He's just lazy and entitled. I love you, friend.

I need to vent.
I'm so fucking tired. I can't wait for this "new job search" to be fucking OVER. I'm OVER it. I'm sick of going to events, I'm sick of going door to door, I'm sick of being on my best behavior, I'm sick of missing my kids games, I'm sick of picking dirty clothes out of the laundry or wearing those ill fitting underwear that's stuck back in your drawer because laundry hasn't been done. I'm sick of eating cereal, or Little Debbie cakes, or whatever I can rummage up for dinner.
DH has been great, but we just have too much going on. My MIL is basically raising the kids, and my parents are taking care of my dog.

Hang in there - it is almost over.

To him it’ll probably be like coming from nowhere with no clue that it’s been a long time coming. That’s what my dad thought. My mom remembers otherwise. FWIW, my mom wanted the divorced. 30 years later, my dad would remarry my mom in a heartbeat and my mom doesn’t think the same.

I've read that most men feel that way. Wives stop complaining and they think everything is finally hunky dory, not realizing that the lack of communication is because she's already checked out and just waiting until the right time to pull the trigger.

When I started cycling, I bought some moisture wicking and some wool socks. Much more comfortable. I actually love wool socks now because they don't get soggy feeling like my cotton ones. I have thick wool socks and thin ones. I have no advice about sandals, I don't really have issues with them although I do wear them all summer. Oddly enough, lotion seems to make me perspire more. Am I the only oddball with that problem?

Swamp, sorry you’re going through a rough patch. It’s been suggested that maybe a housekeeper would be helpful. I had one come once a month. A friend said after that after the housekeeper deep cleaned, “it’s easy to clean clean”. The house work was easier on me, DH, and the kids. It also helped free up some time.

For getting the stink out of shoes my grandma swore by activated charcoal (fish tank filter charcoal) in a shoe box. My Dad has horribly stinky feet and my Grandma said my Uncles were even worse. She would talk about how the boys had two pairs of shoes and they rotated them with the shoes spending the off day in a shoe box with activated charcoal. I have also used activated charcoal to get the stink out of a freezer that had been unplugged and closed up.
