Thank you for the info. I feel the same way: lack motivation/depression/anxiety. Meds for anxiety and depression don't work very well for me. I've had some issues with distractibility and focus since childhood, but was never hyperactive or anything, and got great grades. It's definitely not clear-cut for me, but a possibility. One thing I loved about the book is that it highlighted several adults who were extremely successful, got good grades, etc. They thought because of that it wasn't possible that they had ADD. That describes me as well. I've always done great in school, as well as professionally, but it's always felt like it was harder for me to get things done and that I was never really firing on all cylinders. I procrastinate everything. Then the adrenaline of needing to get something done ASAP it what makes me able to focus and get done what I need to. That is a great book! I read it when my son was a teenager and suspected he had some form of ADD. Have you read the follow-up book, "Delivered From Distraction"? If not, I highly recommend it.

My brother had ADHD growing up and I was "the good one".

After reading his book I felt so hopeful, like yes, this is a problem for a lot of people. There are a lot of great solutions and you don't have to live like this forever.

Not to hijack azucena's thread...when did you switch to a booster? I have a 97th percentile kid 5 1/2 year old and a britax car seat that will accomodate her up to a 85 or 100 pounds (not sure on height, but she'll hit that before the weight requirements but she's good now). C turned 6 in June and is 95th height/85th weight. We won’t be turning anytime soon - we have a Britax Frontier and it’ll be in the harness mode until he’s mature enough to sit properly in a booster. We’re on vacation now and for vacations, we use a BubbleBum booster so we don’t have to fly with his seat. It’s definitely enforced my mindset it’s the right decision for him to still be in a 5-point harness at home/most of the time as he just can’t sit properly for long periods in a booster.

DD moved to a five point booster in June. She’s thin, but was about 1/4 inch away from being too tall for the seat in my car at that point and has grown about 2 inches this summer, so it was definitely time. The back comes off this one when she’s ready for just a booster, but she has a few more inches to go for that yet. I traded in the regular seat in my car for this one when Target had their trade in sale in late May or June, then bought two more for DH’s and my parents’ car. The only part I don’t like about the booster is that it looks really uncomfortable to sleep in. She could have stayed in her regular seat in the other cars for a bit longer, but once she was in the booster in my car it was just easier to have the same seat in all the cars. And I was thrilled to trade in the seat from my car. I’d considered setting it on fire a few hundred times it was so horrible.

What a week, what a week!!!
Rash has spread vs going away... now it is all over her back, legs, stomach, face, behind her ears.
My wife almost drove herself crazy overthinking it. .. she still might!
Made us take DD to urgent care Saturday night.... pediatrician there suggested Benadryl and misdiagnosed DD. Suggested she had (I forgot the name) something that 50% of the time is caused by Herpes. Off course now a fight brakes up at home because my wife is accusing me of bringing herpes to the house and passing it on to DD... Let’s just say it was not a happy Home and I was about to move out by Sunday.
Tuesday or today we were back at her Primacy Care that told us to stop the Benadryl and suggested Zyrtec instead.
Didn’t trust her so got a second consultation. Now this Dr (owner of the practice) said not to give her nothing, that kids get rashes for random reason (kind hard to pin point)... to just let it be and come back if it does not disappear in 1-2 weeks.
Easier said then done since I am married to Ms Crazy over there that since the rash has appeared has cleaned the house up and down twice (and want to hire a cleaning company), turn over her mattress over, cleaned/Washed all the sheets and clothes, no one was allowed to touch Carlie when coming home till after hands were washed and clothes changed, going over every detail of her diet, has canceled all play dates we had scheduled.
Both her mom and I have told her she is driving herself crazy over this, all she thinks about and wants to talk about... but she blames herself and keep on saying how she failed as a mother, her job is to protect Carlie and she couldn’t that.
In the mean time Carlie is happy as could be, strong appetite, playing and acting normal. No fever, no other sign of illness... just he rash all over her body.

We basically went through her diet a week prior and up till today, no new food was introduced. We thought she may have been bit at the park during the play date which is why first dr visit we accepted it might be due to mosquito bites. But then it spread all over her body when at first it was just around her belly and pubic area. We also changed diapers... looked into the detergent. We use the kids detergent for her and Tide for us, now my wife is wondering if we should stop using tide for us... looking at if they changed anything.

TheHaitian, you've probably already ruled this out, but since the rash is not bothering her it may not be an allergic reaction, but maybe heat rash? Babies and toddlers get this easily. Just a thought.

Everyone in my family including me is allergic to it. Rashes.

And now I think I might have ADD... I am sure I am in the ADD category as in "add chocolate, be happy"
Sorry I couldn't resist and I know this is a real problem for people/families dealing with the medical condition.

Then I'd listen to the doc and don't do anything for a week or two. Carrot got rashes and eczema all the time until he was 4 or 5. I thought he was allergic to everything, but he outgrew it.

My sisters 6 children all got rashes and the cause was my sister was bathing them too much, especially with bubble bath type stuff. She was scrubbing her kids so much, she took off patches of their skin.
She's a clean freak and impossible to be around. She screamed at me once cause my sandwich bread made crumbs on the plate.

My kids get rashes all the time.
Last summer, Chloe would break out in this random red rash sometimes for no reason at all! And it was slightly swelled up as well. We had to give benadryl to get it under control. It stopped after about two weeks.
Harper has eczema, it gets really bad if she's been swimming a lot and not using lotion. It was really bad when she was about 8 months old - as Jaguar mentioned, it can be exacerbated by too much bathing and using things like bubble bath. We only bathe the kids two or three times a week now with just sensitive baby wash by Cetaphil.
Harper has also had roseola - a high fever and generally fussy baby and then after she got better, a weird rash covering most of her body. It lasted for about a week.

Thing 1 got rashes and had eczema. She lived. She still has it as an adult. I know plenty of kids with eczema. Mrs Carl needs to chill until the doctor tells her not to. And really? Carl brought herpes into the house? The poor guy works 80+ hours/week. He's trying to start a side business. He does work around the house and spends time with the family. When would he have a chance to go out and find some that's enough, Tenn! ans contract herpes?

If it's an allergic reaction, it doesn't have to something new. Might be something she's been exposed to before. Have you considered soaps, shampoos, even preservatives in them? It can be tough to figure out. Hopefully it will go away on its own.

Gwen also had eczema and grew out if it. Then I'm 99% sure a patch on the back of Abbys neck is psorasis. She could have inherited it from DH. The only way to confirm though is a biopsy and I'm not putting her through that. It is possible for it to clear on it's own. I'd punch DH if he accused me of bringing home herpes. Course 80% of the population has it so eventually the kid will likely get a cold sore or two. Carl your wife is going to end up having a stroke. I know I'm beating a dead horse but she really needs to see someone. You mentioned on YM she has high blood pressure freaking out this bad about random rashes and bugs will kill her. Carlie isn't even two how the hell is Mrs C going to handle the school years?
