As everyone else has said, she is way too young to be expected to be a social butterfly or even interact much with other kids. In my world today, we knew Chloe would be the bull in the China shop child, but she proved it today by chipping both of her front teeth after she fell in our lane (gravel). She totally tripped, landed and caught herself, just to let her face hit two seconds later right on her teeth. Ughhhhhhhhhhhh. Off to the dentist in the morning. I am waiting for physicists to explain the laws of attraction between gravel/concrete and teeth. I'm missing most of my front tooth because of that.

It’s the same one between the carpet and the jelly/buttered side of the bread. I suspect it’s the Murphy corollary of the law of gravity.

Ugh there is an Amber Alert for a 6 month old baby. Father and his girlfriend kidnapped her, police say baby may be in danger. I hope they find her. Some people should just not be allowed to exist on this earth.

In C's defense he and E are building some rather impressive houses in minecraft today. So at least he's doing something with the videos I guess?

DH and C are back, and apparently half the people at DHs parent's house had a stomach bug, which they didn't bother to tell him before he got there. C just threw up all over himself in the car seat, and DH isn't feeling too great. He said C isn't upset in the slightest, so hopefully he's not feeling too bad.

Regarding parallel play, even that, I noticed Allie only does with kids she knows. She loves to play alongside her friends at daycare, but she was with her toddler cousin a few weeks ago, and completely ignored her. (She’d only met the cousin once before.)

People often just suck. For all my annoyances with my FIL, he is awesome about not coming anywhere near us when he is sick. And if any of the other grandkids have been sniffling or sick, he’s all over them not to spread their germs. Which is nice, because one of his sons could care less, and they’ve managed to get mine sick more than once.

C was a little whiny last night, but other than that seemed fine. Fingers crossed we won't have any more vomit.

C didn't play with kids at all until he was in preschool so a late 4 early 5. He sticks to the kids/experiences he knows so I wouldn't worry. I would keep up the play dates if you and your wife are enjoying them--we are absolutely loving having a block full of kids and neighbors we're friendly with. We've been going to the pool a lot this summer and see kids from school fairly regularly and he'll do a few laps around the current channel with them usually, but stays with E and I instead of playing with his friends. Then there's E, our social butterfly, introducing herself to her friends parents and setting up play dates, organizing the line at the slide. I wouldn't know they were both mine if I wasn't there for both of their births.

Both of my kids were is daycare since they were a couple months old. They're both a little shy, but easily make friends and play with strange kids at the playground down the street. My oldest says he's in the popular group at school, since they talk to and are friends with kids in all of the grades. He might be right--I can't keep up with all his friends. Neither one of my kids even acknowledged other kids at 18 months. (Well, maybe each other, but that doesn't really count.) I didn't even think about it until they were 2, and then I learned about the parallel play thing, so wouldn't even start to expect it until 3 at the earliest. I mean, some kids are exceptionally social from day 1, but that's not exactly normal, either.

Yeah,Carl, you’re kinda way off on that one. I was going to use the term parallel play, but it’s the same concept. Toddlers don’t “play together”. They sit near each other and play independently. And not everyone just is instant friends. You did a great job setting this up. I’m happy for your wife to have other parents to talk to. It will grow; give it time. Parallel play is the term I learned for it. Me, too. It is perfectly normal, TheHaitian. You will see it for a few more years. Be glad because otherwise kids that age yank toys away from each other. Eighteen-month kids have no manners!

We are home from vacation. Over all it was good vacation. The girls did great with camping, even if I am not sure it is real camping due to the electricity and water at the site. But it was still a tent, fire pit, and ground sleeping for them since the air mattress we brought for them had a hole in it. Whoops. We got to put the tent up in the rain and then it stop about 30 mins later. It stayed nice until the morning we had to leave and then it decided to poor again. We didn't get to see the Science Museum in N.C due to the girls wanting to just relax in the hotel room. We did do the mine your own gems on the way home, which everyone enjoyed. We could have stayed more day and it would have been fine. Planning to do so next year. However, I do not regret my decision to make the first camping trip only two nights. Next year I think we will look at 4 nights there. We did discussed doing some more camping trips during the year.
When DH packed the girls clothes he packed the bottoms to ODD bathing suit and the top to YDDs. So I had to run out and get ODD a top and YDD a new suit since they don't sell children in parts. ODD wouldn't come with me to try on tops so I sent back several pictures of tops, but once I got there she didn't like the way the top felt with her chest. She ended up wearing just a tank top, which is what we suggested at the start but she was worried about looking out of place.
DH did well camping too. Although he said we need an AC in the tent next time. We have also talked for a couple of years about getting a bigger car. That will be a goal for next spring, specially if we want to do more camping trips. We are adding on some towing capacity to open the idea of getting a pop up or travel trailer in the near future too. That would make DH more comfortable with camping.
There was a few moments where DH showed his ass, like trying to put the tent away in the rain. He also ended up breaking ODD's head phones by not paying attention getting it in the car and giving her time to move her stuff. I think one of the main issues is the man refuses to agree to disagree on things. And if I don't agree with him he is sure that it is because I didn't listen to what he is saying so he keeps bringing them up. Even if they are 2 year olds, he will admit that was an issue is no longer an issue due to things changing, but still want to argue about the then issue. Dude let things go and move on.

I don’t know how parents of kids battling cancer or in-out of the hospital for some other reasons do it but God help them.
DW called me and said C woke up crying, her face was red and she called the Dr. All I wanted to do is leave work and go home Immediately.
She also has some rashes on her body that we were concerned with (changing diaper brand to see if that is the cause). Anyway since she has calmed down, no more crying the Dr said to call tomorrow and set an appointment for her to look at the rash.
Just talked to them and Carlie is still ok (thank God for FaceTime) but my baby is sad. All I want to do is go home and cuddle her.

Both Gwen and Abby had issues with Pampers. Could use any other brand but those.
Check out what you are using for detergent too. Gwen reacts to certain detergents like I do. Thru trial and error we found All Free & Clear keeps everyone happy. Can not use any version of Tide.

We had Alys party today, and I pulled off a working volcano cake! So damn proud of it, lol. Then we made slime and I did it wrong and it was horrible. Oh well she had a good time and then my sister took her home. Yay!

We’re in Toronto for a wedding and it was seriously one of the most beautiful weddings I’ve been too! And kids held up remarkably well considering it was a long one. It was a Hindi ceremony, so we got the venue at 810 this morning and left after lunch around 1245 (there was still one other part after lunch but the ceremony itself was done and M needed a nap before melting down). We were back up there around 615 for the reception, and C somehow fell asleep around 915 before dinner (we’d had appetizers), so we ended up leaving around 945. Weddings were definitely later affairs for me pre-kids, we still had a blast. And both kids tried food I figured they wouldn’t, which was also a win!

Hindu weddings are the best! The colors, the decor, the music, the dancing, the food, everything is just so awesome! I have been to a few and always enjoyed the rituals a lot. They are soooo different for our American weddings and so gorgeous Glad you enjoyed it tcu !

We are switching from pampers cruisers to pampers pure... have 1 unopened box I need to return to Walmart. She woke up a little while ago a bit fussy and crying, but rocked her back to sleep. Feel bad for my DW too, don’t think she is getting much sleep tonight... when C is sick she wants her mama, grandma and dada are only good substitute if mama is not here. As long mama is here she will scream her lungs out till she is with mama.

Thing 1's skin has been problematic since she was a baby. Sometimes it seems like anything will set it off and she'll either break out in a rash or full on hives. We always had all kinds of creams, lotions, and antihistamines in the house. Look at anything that has changed. Soaps, lotions, detergents, fabrics, shampoos, etc. It might be something small that is making her skin unhappy.

Sam--I love the cake!!! I might have to steal the idea. Sorry the slime didn't work out. I was going to give that out for C's valentine's gift one year and was a definite fail. It was too gross for the kids to touch.
Chen--I hope your C gets these in quick and then gets a break.
Carl--I hope your C is feeling better today.

My kids have done slime at the sitter's, and it was really runny gross. Last week they did slime at craft day in the park, and that version was not messy (more like silly putty), except for the craft lady who helped the kids in the middle of the process. I took a picture of my kids making it and it looks like they used glue, shaving cream and baking soda. I'm going to have to google the recipe to try to recreate it sometime.

TheHaitian if the doctor suspects an allergic reaction or irritation, it could be a “new and improved” version of a previously fine item. The change might not even be advertised, but if you just started using a new container of something it might not hurt to check for different ingredients than were in the last container, if that makes sense. On my honeymoon I broke out in hives all over my face. They’d changed the ingredients in the facial sunscreen I’d been using forever, and it wasn’t even an active ingredient that caused the issue. And DD couldn’t use the pampers with stay-dry. I didn’t bother to figure out if her skin was just really sensitive to the dampness or to the stuff that was in the absorbing gel, but wow, those were some awful rashes, very upset kid, etc Hope she’s feeling better today!
