YIKES!
Okay, I need a little help with the labels, before I mess things up (any more than I have!).
Apparently I was somewhat aware of labels in the past, because I went to add/manage my labels and it showed one already there. I thought I was adding a new label, to one message only- but NO. It looks like I changed the name of my original file and all the messages in it. YIKES! Is there an easy way to undo the changes I've made?
Ugh. I'm feeling overwhelmed and confused. And it happened so quickly/easily! No wonder I'm not an IT specialist!!!
Thanks again!

I have no clue what to do about that, toomuchreality. I've never had that experience. I'm going to give you the link to the Support board. Tell them what happened and they'll be able to tell you how to get out of it, or come in and get you out of it themselves. This is a job for ProBoards' Red-name brigade (the Support admins) unless moonbeam or Virgil knows how to fix it. HERE IS THE LINK.

No problem! The folks on the Support board are really great to work with and they don't treat you like an idiot. When I get myself into trouble that's the first place I run to! They'll find the problem for you and tell you how to fix it.

Is there a place for new members to weigh in and say a few things about themselves or ask some questions or for older members to welcome new members.

Is there a place for new members to weigh in and say a few things about themselves or ask some questions or for older members to welcome new members. I don't think we don't have a specific place devoted to that, jambo101, but you're more than welcome to start a new thread. If your questions mainly pertain to money, you'll probably want to start the thread in Your Money. If you're more interested in introducing yourself and chatting with other members, you'll want to start the thread in Everything Else.

What a pleasant surprise! Welcome! Pull up a seat and make yourself comfortable. I think you'll like it here. If you have any questions, folks will be more than happy to answer them. It's a pretty good crowd. Or you could PM me.

You'll be able to PM members after you've made 75 posts here on the forum. That's in place to prevent spammers from driving our membership nuts. Sadly, that happens. As the message states, you can PM any staff member prior to reaching a post count of 75. We like getting PMs! Makes us feel loved! We're discussing your query about a place to introduce yourself when you're new here. That might be a very nice addition. Let us get back to you on that and thanks, so much, for sharing your thoughts here! Again, welcome and we're so glad you're here.

Go to your Profile, jambo101 (Profile at the top of the page). Click on Edit My Profile, then on Notifications. You'll see a list of things about which you can be notified, either by a little bubble above that area here on the boards, or by email. There's a dropdown under Email for each choice. Set those to Never using the dropdown. If you have problems let me know and I'll do all I can to help.

Yes, you have to have a certain number of posts before you can pm someone who's not staff. But weltschmerz can certainly pm you, then you would be able to reply, I believe. Also, I've created a new board for new members to introduce themselves if they wish to. I've had a few requests for that so I finally set it up. You can find that here - ymam.proboards.com/board/65/introduce

no, everyone should be able to post there other than guests. I think the thing is, it's a brand new board and there are no threads started on it yet. so, effectively, there's nothing to click on, other than "create thread".

If you're noticing the site being slow, you're right! It is (or has been). I'm sure the staff at ProBoards is working on the problem as it's been mentioned on their Support board. Hopefully, things will straighten out soon.

If, by chance, you start getting odd error messages or the Err Bear makes a visit, ProBoards is working on an error in the template system. It's gone rogue. They're working on it and hope to have it fixed soon. ETA: Should be out of the woods on this one now. No more problems are anticipated at this time.

OK... many of you have had great suggestions for cosmetic changes that will make your experience here a bit better. I have completed some: - added a sports board
- put a navigation tree at the bottom of the board as well as the top
- gotten easier to read buttons in place (not fully complete and is only on the default skin right now, but i'm working on it)
- made it so when you post, it goes to the bottom of the thread
If you have other suggestions, please post them in this thread. I will try to do as many as I can, but it will depend on if i can find a code hack on the support boards. Yeah, I have other suggestions...BE YOURSELF, and don't take all things seriously. Oops, you are six years ago...still. I hope all is well with you.

Is there a way to remove an entire thread so that you no longer see it? Without just not looking at it?

Is there a way to remove an entire thread so that you no longer see it? Without just not looking at it? That would be a good feature. I've gotten to where I mark a thread as read forever and it seems to help as it isn't in my face when it shows up as New Topic. It's still there but doesn't have the "new" tag which is what catches my eye anyway. In my case it helps a bit Just a mind trick on my part and it doesn't take much to trick my mind.

Not that I know of, zib. NMP has a really good idea, though. It's something you could try to see if it works for you.

I think I got it now, WOO HOO! I once knew a man from Sin City, Who sinned when he sat on a kitty, His wife shit a kitten, When she saw he'd been bitten, Now he's single again, what a pity. It appears to work.
