$1 becomes $2 and $2 becomes $4 off! I've never seen a sale like this 'round these parts. I can't wait! There are quite a few rumors that Pathmark is going to be closing some or all of its stores soon, and this may be a way for them to clear out some inventory. DBF's mom worked for Pathmark for 30+ years and was recently laid off, so its a little bittersweet for me. She's been applying to all the supermarkets in the area so hopefully something will come along soon. You lucky . What a great opportunity to stockpile!! Have you already scoped out stock/prices so that you're good to go on Friday? Are you taking the day off? ha ha ha I've been going through all my inserts hunting for $1.50 and $2 coupons. Living Rich with Coupons has some match ups, but other than that, I'm going to hunt around in the store on Friday and see what I can find. I can't believe it - Pathmark is tripling $1 coupons again next week! This is just insane.

Frugalsuz, I would take a day off and "go to town." Start cutting out every coupon that is for stuff that you want that is $1.00 and up. Keep all of your flyers in your trunk for "insurance." Our stores did this 3 or 4 years ago. I remember bringing home "mountains" of groceries, only to go out and do it all again. I had no time to put it away, that was for later. I "went crazy," but I never saw the sale again. Treat it for what it may be: "A once in a hounder's lifetime event."
Frugalsuz, I have a close friend living in South Carolina. Are there Pathmarks in her state/area? Are they participating in this sale? She is new to hounding, and would be trilled to participate. When does this sale start? When does it end?
Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions for items on sale. I went to Target yesterday and did the diaper deal. It wasn't as good as what she had listed as my P&G had only $1.50 of diapers and $.50 off wipes, but I was able to get 2 large boxes of diapers, 2 large boxes of wipes, and 2 small things of wipes for less than $50. To put this in perspective, this is the equivalent of 16 things of wipes and 6-8 packages of diapers. For not having time to wait (the truck is leaving Friday night) I felt I did well. It also forced me to really get into the hallway closet where I keep most of my stockpile. I found so much I didn't realize I had. One item that was requested was feminine products (makes so much sense). I have tons of pads. I don't care for them but they keep giving away the Stayfree and I can't say no to free. I use them but prefer the other. Tucked away in the closet in about 7 boxes of "cotton ponies". Yeah for me, I am giving away all of my pads, about 8-10 packages. I also found a couple of toothbrushes (we use electric so I don't but regular), some dental floss picks, tons of the J&J Buddies (I kept a couple for the kids, but they prefer bodywash) and I picked up 8 free packages of Ivory soap at Krogers. I will definitely have to take a picture before I take the stuff on Thursday. I think all told, I spent no more than $75 on everything and most of that was on expensive baby stuff. And yes, I do have an ulterior motive. I now have room for more hounding. ;D

Oh my goodness, now A&P is doubling $2 coupons this weekend too! I'm going to be very, very busy! The only problem is that the prices in these two stores tend to be high, so I may not be able to get mountains of goodies. But I've got my fingers crossed! suzi - I'm not sure which stores are participating and which aren't. I think Pathmark usually puts their circular up on Thursday for the sale week starting Friday, so hopefully your friend can check the circular online and see if her store is doubling too. Here's some info on LRWC: www.livingrichwithcoupons.com/category/pathmarkThe double event is running this Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. They'll double up to 20 coupons total, no more than four of the same coupon. Next weekend, it looks like they'll be tripling $1 coupons again, but that might only be Saturday and Sunday.

14 ct Always Infinity pads $2.99 each (buy 2) -$1/1 Q P&G 5/1 -$1/2 Target Q from Target insert 5/1 $1.50 each

Hi Hounds! Is there a site that shows which coupon insert is which? I've been busy lately and have a stack of them I didn't write the date on.

QUESTION FOR GALS WHO HAVE JOINED THE GROCERY CHALLENGE IN THE LAST YEAR OR WHO CAN REMEMBER:I just invited someone from the Smart Spending board to come join us. I don't know if they will, but I wanted to give them a personal invite. I have been on the GC so long, all I know is what I feel in my heart when I welcome newbies to the board. I never really know how THEY feel. So, here's the question. Please take a moment to think back. When you first came to the board, how long did it take before you felt comfortable with "us"; not necessarily with coupons and doing the deals, but with us as a group and posting? If it took you a while, please say so. I am always looking for ways to make newbies feel welcome and am wondering if there is something I/we need to change AFTER their initial welcome. TIA

I don't know of a site that will do that, but on the spine of the outter most page it should have a date and what paper it came out of.

I told my mom that I mark my inserts and she asked me why I did it when the date is on the spine. I looked and sure nuf, there it was. She has a system where that works for her, but she only has her own set and sometimes my brother's set; it would never work for me.

Although people made suggestions (and still do) how to get more bang for my buck, no one ever gave me grief about being me. Unlike some other boards I have been on. I don't really see why anyone wouldn't feel welcome here. We are family.

What is amazing about our frugalsuz is (and she can correct me if I'm wrong) that until around 2008 she had hardly touched a coupon. I don't know if it was the Grocery Challenge that got her started or something else and she found us afterward, but I have NEVER seen anyone who decided to take something up and went with it 100% from Day One. Not only that, but as you all know, she's REALLY GOOD at it. I think she has coupon ink in her blood. Unfortunately, no matter how hard some people try, they just never really quite catch on to the more complicated coupon concepts. frugalsuz got it from the get go. It wasn't long after that that she discovered rebating. Since then, there's been no stoppin' the gal. I just wanted you to know that I have always been extremely impressed by your diligence and tenacity.

Many many of the gals on Smart Spending use coupons, but some of them have never crossed over to the GC. I also noticed that the Smart Spenders have started their own No Spend thread which I find odd since WIR already has one. I don't know if they don't feel welcomed or what.

Dancin: I have to think back re your "welcome" question. Ironically, it was Donna Freedman's article on living on $12,000 year that first caught my eye on MSN--and she is the Smart Spending moderator. From there it was Mia's articles and then the Grocery Challenge thread. I think it took me a year to really begin--always have used q's the usual way. I'm not sure I'd ever have figured it out without the internet and all the various sites. Of course, it was you guys who directed me to all of them. When I finally "published" my first transaction, nobody made me feel stupid although I know I was making lots of rookie mistakes. Heck, I still do.
So for me, although I felt welcome, I probably lurked and gleaned tons of info before diving into the posting part. For me, folks posting their deals helps tremendously. Just wish more would do so.

I HAVE started a list of blogs to direct newbies to, but that type of information is more region specific. As I find out about them and the region of the country that would find them helpful, I add them to my list. It is a work in progress.
