Now that summer is coming, I'm going to have to start hiding some of the junk food and bring it out a little at a time. I bought 4 packs of cookies and 4 bags of Doritos over the weekend, my teenage daughter and her friends finished them off in two days, because they were there and to lazy to fix something.

Famous Quotes from Dancin Mama:The last time I met an organic whole chicken at the grocery store, it was priced at over $18. I decided not to invite it home for dinner. ;D LOL! Sorry - I know it's from the other post, but you just crack me up!!!

Is there a place (web site or something) where you can see all of the blogs for different grocery stores in different parts of the country? I'm in Southern California and I've looked at some of the blogs that are mentioned here but they have stores we don't have so I suspect they are elsewhere. We have Ralphs, VONS, and Albertsons. I do see some Albertsons posts on one of the blogs occasionally. Thanks! oreo, Here's one - although I don't use hers often - www.southerncalisaver.com/ETA - slick deals seem to be the best place to get in on the latest deals. It's hard for me to wade through the tons of posts and forums that they have there, so I usually just look at some of the regular ones like frugalsuz, my frugal adventures, centsable shoppin and here. I shop a lot at smaller stores here (for fruits and veggies)and at Trader Joes (for milk, yogurt, cheese and a few special things)and their prices are always good on the items that I buy there. Suzi and I are also from SoCal and so let us know if you see any great deals or want us to check something for you. HTH

WAGS: Simple. I bought: Gillette Fusion for $9.89 WAGs TB disc (blue thingy) .39 GUM Flossers $2.00 Comet Cleaner .50 cents Sub total:$12.78 Minus: $4.00 MW for the Gillette 75 cents MQ for the Flossers. $5.00 RR $3.00RR
New Sub total: 3 cents OOP Tax $1.12 Paid a total of $1.15 OOP Received: a $5.00 RR for the Gillette a $2.00 RR for the GUM
Yes, I lost $1.00 in RRs doing this transaction, but the good thing is getting 4 good products and only spending $1.15 including tax and OOP.
Now my RR's have new expiration dates.

Thanks saveinla (I karma-ed you!) This site has the stores I have at least. She/he (I don't want to assume!) doesn't have this week's deals up yet but I'll check back tomorrow.
I also use slickdeals but mainly to see what alternate Groupon-type offers there are. I'll get something like sailing lessons in the daily email but really they'll have something like today $30 worth of Frazee paint for $15 which is something I actually need!

I guess I do that on ALL my shopping trips.

You can also use the other sites for Kroger (Ralphs), whose deals start early Sunday - Monday, to plan your trips since our deals run Wednesday through Saturday. The prices may differ, but the deals are all the same. I may do the Boulder chips deal at Ralphs this week. There was also a free Magnum ice cream bars for Ralphs in their digital coupons section. Not sure if it's still available, but I have heard rave reviews on them.

dancin: Just one more comment re that other thread: she says she doesn't buy any processed food but states she buys pasta sauce. She'd save a ton of money if she made her own. Oh well... murphath: She said A LOT of things. When I called her out, she started back-peddling and contradicting herself. She does not REALLY want help with saving money on groceries or anything else. She just wants attention. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! (I was looking for a "hit the nail on the head" icon, but we don't have one...)

I saw a $2 off the Magnum ice cream bars (in the Ralphs digital coupons), is that what you saw? I don't know how much they are this week at Ralphs. I saw they are $3 this week at Albertsons. I bought a box at Target but haven't tried them yet.

But load the 2$ ones too, since they will be gone soon. I didn't know anyone who was using eQs here from Ralphs and so did not post about the deal. I will try to post them going forward.

weaselfer - did you get the target additional insert this last weekend? i think there was some pampers q's in that which could be stacked with the giftcard deal this week. check totally target for details. Oh, yes, I did. I will have to check it out on Totally Target. I bought 4 3/packs of Ivory at Krogers for free and a couple of Soleil razors (probably paid too much). I will have to grab my MIL and go back for some more Ivory soap. They had a bunch left. I will need to check for Quaker granola Qs as they have it on sale. The truck leaves Friday night so sales from next week won't help, although diapers are always a need. I don't have classes over the summer so I should set aside some "donation" money to purchase items just to donate. Usually I just go through my stash which means it is items that my family uses so no baby stuff in my house.

Yea, they (Ralphs) must have run out of the free ones for the Magnum bars. I've never seen a free electronic coupon but then again, I don't think to ever look except when they send me an email which is probably like once a month. Do they change all of the time like the Target coupons? I think of all of the coupons I've loaded I've only ever used 1 (and I didn't remember I'd even selected it!)
If you see anything really good, it would be great to know about it, thanks! And I'll try to remember to look occasionally too.

You can do that, but it doesn't do you any good if someone else has already quoted it. I thought about it and I realize that there is more there than meets the eye. Actually, it's kind of sad.

Pathmark shoppers - they're doubling coupons up to and including $2 this Fri/Sat/Sun! I am so jealous! I would love a good doubles sale right now, even if is was only temporary. Up to $2.00!!!! Does that mean all $1.00 are $2.00, or that all $2.00 are $4.00??? WOW! Have fun. Show us what you get.... $1 becomes $2 and $2 becomes $4 off! I've never seen a sale like this 'round these parts. I can't wait! There are quite a few rumors that Pathmark is going to be closing some or all of its stores soon, and this may be a way for them to clear out some inventory. DBF's mom worked for Pathmark for 30+ years and was recently laid off, so its a little bittersweet for me. She's been applying to all the supermarkets in the area so hopefully something will come along soon.

You guys got me so curious that I went back and read the whole thread. It reminded me of the woman who posted on the old boards a year or so ago-- maybe some of you remember her. She was a single mom with two small children wanting help to save money on her basic expenses, and then shot down every single suggestion made to her. She couldn't move to a cheaper place, couldn't move with her folks, couldn't take in a renter, couldn't cut her bills. I think the thread had a record length, and made so many people mad. She had posted similar questions on other threads too. I think there are people who can't be helped because their minds are closed to any options.

She'll bring it up again somewhere, sometime and if I see the thread all I will post is

UPDATE[/b]: My brothers friend and his wife are ok. They had gone to a friends house. A good thing since there is now only rubble where house had been. Another friend of mine and his wife are ok. There house is destroyed and they spent the night in hospital with injuries but they are alive. Thank God for all the miracles of this past week. I am totally overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and offers of help during this disaster. It has been truly amazing.
Dancin Something we have learned this week you need in emergency preparedness is cash. During power outage you cannot process credit cards, pump gas or many other things that you take for granted. We had to drive for miles to get gas for chainsaws and generators and diesel for equipment to move debris out of roadways. At least with cash you can get some of the basics that you need. [/i] mommy2twoal [/b] I learned about having money in the house after the ice storm. I was okay on this side of the Ohio River, but Vince had trouble in his part of KY due to so many power outages! Glad to hear your loved ones are okay!!!

Dancin, I also got a real chuckle out of you not inviting the organic chicken home for dinner ;D
Yes, it'd be nice to have someone walk me through my grocery purchases, but that's why they have sites like couponmom.com and the multitude of other couponing and deal websites out there. It's a bit hard for someone to tell me how to shop with coupons when they don't buy what I do and don't live where I do.
I took a trip to WAGS tonight, but I didn't do as well as I had hoped. Maybe I should have done multiple transactions to keep my costs down, but only one item (the Noxema razors) had a RR. Otherwise I bought a 99 cent Mother's day card, a clearanced calendar ($2.50), a package of training pants ($6.99) and 2 boxes of the Tylenol Precise ($0.49 each after q's). My total was $19.50 after the exchange of RR's.
Looking at the transaction, I can't think of much I could have done differently other than skp the calendar and buy the Precise on different days because of how much I pay in sales tax (8.35% - not as much as some of you, but enough). I need to get better at stockpiling training pants until my little one is out of them.

I don't know what a good price is for a bunch of radishes where she lives and I certainly don't know what a good price is for organic meat or cheese. Then to find out AFTER ALL OF THAT that she keeps a PRICE BOOK. I just about died!! Actually, I think it was BS; but that's beside the point. I commend her for the way she feeds her family, but it is a choice and has a cost. She seems pretty militant about it and if you really want to save on food, you have to be a little bit flexible. But she already knows that.
