Walgreens vs Rite Aid? On the road to our appartment there is a Walgreens and Rite Aid. Once we are done moving I will pass them every day on my way to/from work so it's not like there are out of the way. Which one should I pick or just get a card at both? Did not look out for a CVS but will cawiau: No card is required at WAGs unless you're in one of their test areas. I would go ahead and get a Wellness + card at Rite Aid. I don't shop there as much as CVS and WAGs, but sometimes they have killer deals (although they just tightened up their coupon acceptance policy).

Hi Ladies! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. I have had a terrible week myself. Spent several days in the hospital. I thought I was having an anxiety/panic attack at work last Monday, couldn't catch my breath and felt like my heart was going to beat out of my chest. I was convinced that I had scared myself half to death, but decided to leave work and go home. I had my MIL pick me up and drive me to her house. I spent a couple of hours calming myself down, but in the end decided to go to the ER, if I didn't go, I would never relax! All the usual tests came back negative and just when I thought they were going to say "Yup, it was just a panic attack" the blood work came back and showed an enzyme present! Weeelllllllll.....this hospital doesn't have a cardiac unit, so I was whisked away in ambulance to another hospital. I was scheduled for a heart cath the following morning bright and early! My DH was already at home in bed when I got the news about that, they started prepping me about 11pm so I could sleep a little longer in the a.m. DH and FIL showed up just before they took me into OR. So, I have told them that I think I am allergic to shrimp and everyone just looks at me, so they give me some benadryl before hand and knock me out. Well, as soon as they shoot me full of the dye, I WOKE UP! I started screaming at them, I am burning! I am HOT, I can't breathe! there are people laying on me trying to keep me from moving, oxygen mask pressed on my face, I start really flipping out on them! Then I started to vomit, then........my DH heard them call a code blue! I had a severe allergic reaction to the dye, oh and had a stent put in during the heart cath. I have been a mess since then, can't stop crying, the terror just hits me out of the blue some days, today was bad! All the medication I am on isn't helping either! I am on a BP med because my BP was so high all week! OF COURSE IT WAS HIGH, they tried to kill me!!!! OMG! I really hate going to the DR's, but I need to go Friday to get some of this off my chest!

But you're gonna be OK! Hang in there!

Went to about 7 different WAGS this morning starting at 7:30. Keep in mind that around here there is basically one on every corner so I'm not going out of my way. I drove from boyfriends place to my place and hit almost every one in between. First one- 24 hour store and they had nothing. Even the crackerfuls they had a note up saying they couldn't get enough from the manufacturer and were offering substitutions and all the substitutions were gone. Also, no calcium, no paper towels, no right guard, no degree... nothing. The store manager said that at midnight they were lining up. This was pretty much the same story at all the ones I hit. I got one item or two items on my list per store throughout the other 6 stores I went to, but nobody had a decent stock of anything. Every place that was 24 hours said that people were lining up before midnight. The ones that open at 8 said that people were lining up at 7am waiting for the doors to open. I don't know about the rest of you, but I didn't even think that the deals were that amazing this week. Definitely not worth me fighting the crowds like that. I 'd never get anything if I didn't have 10 WAGS within reasonable distance. This is getting obnoxious. I had a really frustrating day too. I hit 5 Wags on the way to visit my mom. We left early to make sure we would get some of the good RR items, but it didn't go well. Not one store had the Crackerfuls or the butter that was on sale. We did get three bottles of calcium for $5 with a $10 RR, and a few bottles of Ecotrin at a little profit, so it wasn't a total bust, but I was irritated. Then we went to Albertsons to take advantage of their double coupon sale, and it was awful too. They made a big deal over my coupons (which were all good, and for the right products), and held up the line behind me while 47 people gave their 2c on the coupons. Took forever to double three measly coupons (all we get here in the land of infrequent doubles). The irritation wasn't worth the three bucks. I think I may email Wags corporate about the stock issue. It's not worth my time to stop at one store after another when they don't have the items they advertise. Grrr.

Have to admit it. I was WRONG about WAGS issues yesterday morning. I went to my 24 hr store which is closest & also the smallest in town at 8:30 am and got my Crackerfuls, icey hot, alum foil and a jar of olives (so I could use my $2 RR). I was SHOCKED that they had everything. There were still 8-9 Crackerfuls, 4 icey hot and a BUNCH of foil on the shelves when I left.
Sharona Complaining will NOT work if I am the ONLY one to do it. We ALL need to go after them by every means at our disposal. WAG can decide I am a nut but if 100s of people from all over the country start filing complaints that should catch their attention.
Debinwa Please do email WAG + every other regulatory agency you can think of in your area.. See my comment above to Sharona.
filing multiple compaints does NOT need to take forever. Just type it out in your wordprocessing system, go online to each agency and do a copy paste. No retyping time needed.

I think Kathy did what I think I'm going to. WAGS coupon @ .99 ea (in this week's ad), MFR coupon $1.50 off (insert a couple of weeks ago, but I don't recall who) one nets free Ecotrin and possibly the overage. It's not a RR item. We prefer Ecotrin over Bayer, so, although the stockpile is good on Bayer...it will be worth the trip to WAGS. I really hadn't been shopping Wags because we didn't need anything and had no RR's... But this did catch my eye..I took the time because it was storming outside to look at the ad... Kathy, am I right? I don't see it in my ad from KY....maybe it's on the smaller part from the outside??? The Ecotrin In ad q is on page 14 of my ad

Thank you all, I am sorry for the rant! I was very tired and frustrated last night. I have trouble actually saying any of that out loud because it makes me cry and my BP go up! DH went back to work and DD was at a friends so I was all by myself and was NOT enjoying it! Today I will be with my family so I plan to enjoy myself and maybe get in the pool just to cool off. First I have to go buy a bathing suit! I put my old bathing suit on yesterday and it "crunched" the whole time I was putting it on, danged thing dry rotted! no elastic left in it at all! Since it is a tankini 2 pc, there was no way I was getting it wet for fear of falling off! I have been showing a new friend the art of couponing, she is soooo excited to get some cheap/free stuff. We went to RA last Saturday to spend my Ups that expired that day. Her DH is also appreciative. She is waiting for me to get back on my feet to go shopping with her. Maybe a good hound will take my mind off other things for awhile!

By the way, no inserts in the newspapers today Hi cawiau, Yes, there weren't any inserts in yesterday's newspaper. The reason is that the coupon providers don't make them for holiday weekends. Sorry if we forgot to tell you. Another tip: Always check your newspapers before you buy them. If it is a holiday, there won't be any coupons; and if the newspaper person "forgot" to put them in, you will not be happy when you get home.

Thank you ladies... I will stop at Walgreens/Rite Aid later today if I have time on my way home. If not most likely during the week. Suzie, thank you. I usually just go in and buy a Daily News and a Poughkeepsie Journal and I was surprised/pissed when they had no inserts I will make sure to check in the future before I buy them, thank you ;D

Shelly! Good news on your job. My school made me sign a release of job form, then a re-hire form for the next school year at the same meeting. Weird. Oh well, at least I have my job for another year. I am 55, so I take it day by day. Being skilled at saving money sure helps. Yesterday: I bought 2 sourdough bread bowls for $1.00 on markdown. I warmed the bread bowls in the oven, then cooked two cans of Campbell's soup. I think that the cans were free with my coupons and EB's. Dinner for $1.00 for two. I take my skills for granted now, but I realize that these habits were not acquired overnight. Day by day, I just got better and better. The rotisserie chicken (from Costco): $4.99 Free shredded cheese from the packaged Kraft deal (frozen) Free tortillas, hot sauce (Frank's free coupons), and free sour cream from CVS EB's that I had saved. Hawaiian bread marked down to 99 cents, paid for with EB's. Fresh green beans $1.00. Anyway, I made TWO meals for two from the above purchase. The first night: Breast of chicken, Hawaiian bread rolls, and green beans. $2.50 chicken + $1.00 green beans, the remainder were on EB's. The second nights: Tacos $2.49 for the chicken, the remainder were on EB's. This is why my food bill is fairly low. It would have been less if I bought a frozen chicken on sale for 75 or 79 cents a pound. A four pound chicken would have cost me about $3.00 total, so the meat for both meals would have been about $1.50 each night instead of the $2.50 each night. I have been lazy lately after my surgery, so I opted for goodness in the taste of the chicken and convenience. My DH is going on a golf tournament. This means that I can cook what I want in the freezer for dinner without asking him what he wants for dinner, LOL. I have some free meats from Von's (Safeway) that are still good. Remember when they had that $2.00 off of any Rancher's Reserve meat??? I was buying packages for slightly over the $2.00 price so that I could use the $2.00 coupon and get it close to free. For me, it is a big deal to eat out. I have to really think about it from a financial AND calorie/health standpoint.

Today, I am making my 8 quart pot of homemade spaghetti sauce:
I like to make a big pot and then freeze the sauce in small containers. This pot lasts me for 3 months of spaghetti, lasagna, and manicotti meals.
It is not only fresh, but delicious.
I will talk about the cost of this pot later.
I have to help DD move today. Her roommate graduated from nursing school and decided to move to another city to live with her BF. DD decided to move in with another friend 10 minutes from her job.
I will not be moving things, as I had surgery 3 months ago. I guess my job will be to supervise and to line the shelves and drawers with lining paper.
\Have a great day, hounds!

There should be more than 2 coupon inserts. This is because the previous weekend was a holiday and so the following weekend after the holiday, they make up for it. I usually get to CVS early and buy about 6 newspapers with my EB's on this type of weekend if the coupons are really good. Hopefully, there will be a 30% off of your order or some other discount to help out. Maybe you can buy two newspapers.

Regarding the WAGS lack of stock issue: the beauty cashier at one of my WAGS greeted me at the door yesterday...their power had been knocked out and they couldn't get the RR's to print, so she was warning me ahead of time, LOL. Anyway, she told me that due to the increase in couponers, there was now a 1-2 item limit for each customer, but on the last day of the ad you could buy as much as you wanted.
Another cashier told me she was frustrated at the lack of stock too...she said they can order anything they want, but corporate decides where to send it, in part based on sales history. So how are the small stores ever going to get much of a sales history for certain items when they can only get 2 or 3? Doesn't seem to make much sense. None of our 3 stores got the Crackerfuls, and the BW was gone by early afternoon.

Any pet lovers who got the q for a free bag of Iams (up to $10)...Target had the 8 lb bags on sale for $11, buy 2 and get a $5 gift card...averages out to about half price for some good quality cat or dog food. They have the same deal with the large bottles of Tide Stain release, so if you have 2 of the $3 off q, brings them down to about half retail, or like getting one free. Has anyone seen stores carrying the small hanging bags of the Purina One? I was hoping to score some free chow with the $2 q from last week.

Here's the response from Tide after last week's Wal-Mart fiasco. I knew I was right on this one, so I am hoping to get an answer about the other products (after I contacted the correct manufacturer, thanks to dancin!) Dear Deb, Thank you for contacting Tide! I'm sorry you were unable to redeem one of our coupons. We can't force stores to accept our coupons, but we certainly reimburse stores for purchases made of any product mentioned in the coupon wording. Coupon redemption is based on the wording, not the products pictured. We're not always able to fit pictures of all product versions and sizes on a coupon due to limited space. Most stores also scan the bar code on the coupon which recognizes when the correct product is purchased. I'll be forwarding your comments to our coupon managers. Listerine and Reach are brands that are not owned by Procter & Gamble, so I am unable to answer your question regarding their coupon. I hope this information is helpful. Thanks again and always feel free to contact us here at Tide! Warm regards, Nick Tide Team At least they replied...still waiting to hear from J & J and Kroger!

ooty- Glad you are still here with us. Make sure you find out what ind of dye you had a reaction to. If it is an iodine based dye, you may want to be checked for a seafood allergy. My DM is allergic to seafood and has difficulty with some, but not all, iodine based dyes.
Ladies: Please, anytime any of you have a doubt about how you are feeling, don't hesitate to go get checked out. Women often do not have the same symptoms as men when it comes to heart attack and stroke. I know trips to the hospital and tests are expensive when you do not have insurance- and they are expensive even with insurance. But you are my friends and I'd like to think my extended family- The Sisterhood (and Brotherhood) of the Traveling Deal- I'd like to keep you all around as long as possible.

I am SO sorry that happened to you. As soon as you said you told them that you are allergic to shrimp, I thought OMG this is NOT going to be good. (I have some serious allergies as well so I know all about this.) That is a terrible experience and I can definitely understand why you are still feeling anxious.

Grrr. Ugh...sorry to both of you. I have only 1 Wags near me (and ironically I don't even live in a small town.) Maybe things will get better eventually on the couponing front. For now...oy...I don't know...

Winco: I bought 4 ears for corn for 24 cents each, and broccoli crowns for 88 cents a pound. I love vegetables!
