The trick for me is to find tasty treats, when I have a craving that I just can't kick, so I can satisfy my sweet tooth. I was stunned when I found out Ferrero Rocher's only have 75 calories apiece. I also like Biscoff's, and when I crave cookies I can have 2 of them for 75 calories (I usually only eat one at a time). It sure beat all the calories of other options, like a candy bar. I'm making sure too that the fridge is stocked with healthier options, like vanilla yogurt & fresh fruit (which I happen to like). See, I really like chocolate ice cream, like really, really like it. But then I eat more than I should. I tried finding something to replace that bowl of dark chocolate ice cream in the evening with something healthier. I landed on chia pudding made with chocolate protein shake. It adds a good punch of fiber and protein, that I realistically need, but it might not work for other people. I also only need a little to satisfy the craving for chocolate because of all the protein and fiber. I believe it’s working well for me, but YMMV.

And I don’t stop at one serving when filling up my bowl

Probably chocolate chunks up the calories
I prefer fruit ice cream like blackberry, strawberry but not many choices. LOTS of chocolate type choices though

It holds less. It's like using a smaller plate for meals.

Chose a salad over a sub box lunch at the facility today. It came with a small pack of Ken's ranch, which I may eat half. Not really worried about the calories, just trying to get more veggies. Small steps.

Weight this morning was 159.8 Haven't been below 160 in several months.
However, I am very unfortunately fighting a microscopic colitis flare. I caved and started taking the steroid that is prescribed to treat it. I have lots going on - I don't want to be stuck in the house afraid I'm going to sh__ myself.

Good job on the weight, greenthumb59. I hope you feel better quickly. I went camping for 3 nights and mostly stuck to my nutrition plan. Suppers especially were vegetable forward.

Drivers license renewal is next year. This means a new pic for the REAL ID. So I need to step it up.
And I am making sure to add fruits or vegs to every meal. It is difficult while traveling to get them in.

daisylu do you drive or fly? If the former, can you bring a cooler for fresh produce? If the latter, can you bring things such as baby carrots, celery, etc.? For snacks, of course, not actual meals.

Traveled for work last week. The facility feed us true Mexican food for lunch each day and it was outstanding. Then dinner with colleagues each night where I ate whatever I wanted, though some of it ended up as breakfast the next day. The most food that I have eaten in months and I am down 6 pounds this morning - reinforcing that I have been eating enough. I know that is an issue for me, but a lot of days I am just not hungry. The meals last week were pretty much forced on me.

Wow, another month of me not holding myself accountable. Sheesh.
My March 5th weight was 169.0. My March 19th weight was 173.0. My April 22 weight is 178.0.
I have done well the last ten days with working out plus getting over 6,000 almost every day. I realized last week my water intake was way down, so I've done much better with water this weekend.
DH and I are recommitting to supporting each other with healthy food choices. I really need that.
One of the mental/physical health things I've been working on is breathing. Apparently their are different ways of breathing and some are better than others. It's hard being human. Something to do with heart rate variability. I'm still trying to understand it.

Good to see you, ners. Nice job, daisylu! Knee Deep in Water Chloe that's great your DH and you are recommitting to each other! DH and I had a conversation about trying new vegetables. He really wants to explore homemade kimchi and sauerkraut, so I poked around at a few recipes. Last week's groceries included a vast array of vegetables, including kale which I served raw under last Thursday's eggplant Milanese. Let's just say we prefer cooked kale if we're going to eat it.

I have also learned that I chose healthier options like carrots and celery to snack on if I cut them to the size I prefer as soon as I get home from the store.

I have also learned that I chose healthier options like carrots and celery to snack on if I cut them to the size I prefer as soon as I get home from the store. I process celery, baby carrots, cucumbers, radishes, mini peppers, berries, and whatever else I purchase. We like to dip the celery, so I put peanut butter and/or cream cheese into little containers to pack in our lunches. I also boil a dozen eggs on Sunday's which serve as quick breakfasts and healthy protein snacks. If I forget to, or if we don't have any eggs, DH and I find we both miss them.

I hate salads. Generally I hate lunch. But, I decided to rethink it. I now use sliced Brussels sprouts instead of lettuce and some combo of roasted butternut squash, chickpeas, quinoa, lentils, apples, cranberries, nuts, beets, etc. I make homemade dressing. The various combos are more hearty than a couple pieces of iceberg with a carrot or whatever. So far - it is working for me. I will burn out in a bit and will have to decide what to do next. But for now - I’m good.

Welp, it's May 1st. My weight is the highest it's ever been (including pregnancies, in fact, I'd love to just be at my pregnancy weights!)
I started the year at 166.5--but I'd had food poisoning over New Years. My February 1 weight was 169.5 My March 5th weight was 169.0. My March 19th weight was 173.0. My April 22 weight was 178.0. My May 1 weight is 178.2.
I've had three consecutive weeks of working out at least 3 days per week. I've done better with my water intake. My sleeping patterns--with the work of prescription meds from my mental health therapist--are now improving.
Hopefully, it will start to come together soon.

I'm sorry I haven't checked in lately. I'll blame it on stressing about DD's upcoming wedding. That stress might be what helped me break through my longtime plateau, because I've FINALLY lost 5 pounds. (I'm trying so hard not to stress eat, but I'm just not that hungry these days.) I've gotta fit into that MOB dress!

Congratulations to the entire family, busymom! And for losing the 5 pounds. Thank you for tagging me, Knee Deep in Water Chloe. On and off I am down 10 pounds so far this year. I was going to post the following here today: Posting for accountability. I am going on a fancy-to-me vacation next summer and absolutely want to change my body before then. The 2012 30-pound weight loss, and aging in general, has me wanting and needing to tighten up several areas. That being said, changing into workout clothes to go exercise downstairs after work seems daunting to me. The weather has been nice. So, upon arriving home yesterday, I'm thinking, why don't I walk outside?? So, instead of going directly inside, I walked around the exterior of our home a few times. Each round is approximately 200 steps, includes several stone steps, and resulted in a heart rate of 102 (we live at a high altitude which helps). I then went inside and did my usual stretching, crunches, leg lifts and yoga. Baby steps. Literally.

My March 19th weight was 173.0. My April 22 weight was 178.0. My May 1 weight was 178.2. My May 14 weight is 179.5.
Frustrated about the weight. I'm in the middle of a mental health crisis recovery though, so I'm trying to be patient with myself.
I have three medical professionals I'm working with right now. They each tell me that I need to exercise every day in some fashion. Ugh--why do I fight that? It seems so simple, and I do always feel better when I've done a work out.
