I need to select a new tracker watch. The last firmware update is draining the battery of my not even 2 years old Fitbit. The support forum is full of posts about it and BBC reported on it. They are doing nothing to fix it. I'm not sure I want a Samsung and all the distractions of texts and calls buzzing on my wrist. I might get a Garmin for that reason. I really like my Garmin, but I think you can probably set up your watch for specific types of notifications. My Garmin does, anyway, I would imagine that Samsung has that as well. My husband has one, so I can ask him later.

Weight is up to 162.6! Geez!
I've been working in our bathroom, getting it prepped for painting. It's a long sad story but essentially it was butchered by a contractor several years ago. Everything functions but it's not pretty.
My DH has been out of town for a week, and will be gone for the rest of this week. His mom lives with his sister, and Sis needed a road trip for her own sanity. So they bundled up my MIL and went to visit relatives. Honestly it's probably MIL's last big hurrah. I hope not but she is 94 and not in the best of health.
Okay back to sanding, and then I'm done with that for today. My dog keeps giving me the side eye. She wants her walk. The snow has stopped so I will probably walk her here in a bit.

I went to the Doctor yesterday.
Last Friday I went for my lab work ahead of the Doctor's appointment.
Of course, I was nervous when I went to Quest, and even more nervous yesterday at the Doctor's waiting room.
We went through the lab results together.
Everything except the sugar in blood looks good. Cholesterol went down a lot.
She put me on a different pill for the diabetes, because the Metformin is not working for me. My blood sugar is high, not horrible but high, and has been high for a while now.
So hopefully, the new medicine helps me bring it down some.
She wants to see me again in July.
Oh, and I traveled international in December, returned in January. I did not need a seatbelt extender for the flight. I was so proud of myself. It's been a while now since I had to ask for one each time I boarded a plane. I plan to keep it that way. It's not that I have lost weight, because I haven't, but I've been exercising more and my body doesn't have such a big belly and booty anymore. I mean, they are still big, but small enough to use a regular seatbelt.
The Doctor wants me to exercise more, and also to eat healthier (food being my Achilles heel) for when she sees me again in July.

I could probably turn off some of the Samsung watch notifications. Consumer reports notes the battery life is 2 days tops. I talked to a friend with a Garmin and he says it gets up to 2 weeks on a charge and his is 3-4 years old. I just need to make a decision especially as the fitbit is now unresponsive. I look at my wrist a dozen times a day for time and it's not there. DH is paying as a gift.
I'm ready for warmer weather. Doing decently on the food front. It is just easier for us to move more when it's warmer outside. We walk around the neighborhood on breaks and such.

Monday’s weight was 168.5.
Haven’t worked out in over a week because I was sick with a nasty, extra-strength cold.

Check in
Have not checked in in a couple of weeks. Had nothing new to report. Goals for the week
1. 45,000 steps 2. No eating after 9:00 PM 3. Average 32 ounces of water (32 is just an arbitrary number which is a tad higher than my average last week)
01/01/19 177.2 01/01/20 165.2 01/01/21 169.0 01/01/22 167.2 01/01/23 172.2 01/01/24 187.2 02/01/24 185.6 02/05/24 187.2 02/12/24 189.0 02/19/24 187.4 02/26/24 185.2
Finaly weight is moving in the proper direction. Have a good week everyone.

Similar to Ners, I haven't checked in for a few weeks. I caught another virus/whatever and did another round of prednisone a few weeks ago. I am pleased to say that as of this morning, I lost that weight gain in addition to a few more. I am "this close" to the next lower decade. The key for me is to eat mini meals during the day, a very small supper, and to drink at least 64 ounces of water daily.

Well, I seem to have turned a corner and the few stubborn pounds my body was hanging onto have finally gone away. I was pleased with the scale today. now to keep up the progress and keep those pounds off!

It's a struggle, but I'm still in the game here. Continuing with 1 hour of exercise a day, and although the scale is bouncing around a bit, maintaining the 4 lb loss.
Not sure how much longer it'll take for it to "melt" off, like the last time, but I haven't given up yet.

I haven't checked in for a few weeks now, either. I was sick, then on vacation, then my husband got covid as a souvenir from the vacation. Since I piggyback on his gym membership, there has been no exercise happening. Somehow, my weight is still coming down gradually. There was extra work for my classes last week. Looking forward to settling in to a more regular schedule this week, but there are soccer games and a concert to attend, so still not getting to the gym. Oh well, I guess I'll do my best to squeeze in something and make sure I eat more veggies.

I made it to firmly being in the next decade. And, as of this past weekend, I'm going to drastically slow down on alcohol consumption.

Saw my doctor yesterday for a follow-up visit. My A1c was 6.5 when I saw him in October.
They did one of those in office A1c tests, and it said my A1c was 7.2
I check my glucose several times a day, and enter those numbers into an app called MySugr. MySugr has me at 6.4
So I asked if we could do labs to double check the number.
Came back this morning - from Quest - at 6.3
So there! Ha! But I do need to get it below 6.
He also asked me to try statins again. Statins just mess with me, but I agreed to take a low dose.
We have another follow-up appointment in September.
Weight was 162.6 this morning.

Hi everyone!
My March 5th weight was 169.0. My heartrate and blood pressure are high; I've been having anxiety attacks. I go back to my PCP for my annual check-up today.
I did the elliptical and yoga this morning and yesterday morning.

Give yourself time Knee Deep in Water Chloe. I had anxiety and sleepless nights for a few weeks after I retired. The anxiety is much much better. I still have sleep issues here and there. Mentally I locked all my work trauma away in my brain. When it wants to come out I just push it back. Right now this works for me. Sending you hugs and wine!

Did not check in this week. Nothing really to report. I had to see my PCP so I could get my meds refilled. None of my blood test showed anything bad. A1C is same as last year at 6.1. Not the best but not the worst. I just have not had a lot of energy and have been slacking on exercise.

Well I sure talked a big game at the beginning of the year, then ghosted everyone.
Long story short, had an awesome January, down over 6 lbs. Didn't work as hard during February, so weight crept back up a little. Back at it again, with a vacation to Florida at the end of the month serving as my immediate motivation.
I'm focusing on water, moving more, and tracking everything. Sounds simple. We'll see if I can do it! I CAN do it!
Next weigh in will be tomorrow or Wednesday.
Hang in there everyone!!

I just looked: I am down 9.6 since January 1st. I've been poking around Eating Well's website and took note of numerous low carb Mediterranean and anti-inflammatory recipes. We will have one for supper every night this week. Lots of veggies, shrimp and fish.

I FINALLY dropped another pound this morning. It took weeks, but hey, I'm happy. I'll keep up the pace just to see if the weight keeps falling off.

Similar to busymom, I lost another pound. They are kicking and screaming in protest, but I don't care as long as they leave.

I’m up a couple of pounds since I was last here, which I’m okay with as I’m still down overall from the beginning of the year. I pretty much went off the rails. I stopped meal planning. I got sick and didn’t feel like going to Costco as it’s a half day ordeal to get there and back, but it saves $100-$150 to go there for produce compared to my local grocery store. I should have just caved and shopped locally but didn’t feel like dealing with any shopping. Then my scale broke and needed to be replaced. Meanwhile I managed to eat a whole cake by myself. PMS cravings are no joke. It was a homemade carrot cake with healthier substitutions and was pretty much breakfast and lunch for a few days, so I was just eating my veggies, right?

The trick for me is to find tasty treats, when I have a craving that I just can't kick, so I can satisfy my sweet tooth. I was stunned when I found out Ferrero Rocher's only have 75 calories apiece. I also like Biscoff's, and when I crave cookies I can have 2 of them for 75 calories (I usually only eat one at a time). It sure beat all the calories of other options, like a candy bar. I'm making sure too that the fridge is stocked with healthier options, like vanilla yogurt & fresh fruit (which I happen to like).

Happy Friday! I dropped one more pound. I DID do a lot of grocery shopping yesterday, so maybe the extra walking helped. Whatever happened, I'll take it.

With so much work travel, I need to do a better job making healthy choices and get over my food waste issues. I DO NOT HAVE TO CLEAN MY PLATE, I DO NOT HAVE TO CLEAN MY PLATE, I DO NOT HAVE TO CLEAN MY PLATE.
I also need to start packing workout clothes.

When I was a kid, that was all I heard, that I was expected to clean my plate. I still feel guilt when I leave food behind, but if I really don't like something at a restaurant, or feel full, I leave it.
