checking back in, as the season has landed where I'll be able to put a table out on the regular with some of the things I've tried to unload via pay sale sites. I'm just over it and want it all gone. I unloaded a ton of stuff last summer this way, this road is much more heavily travelled than I realized when I bought the place. this weekend was solid, though. a friend came by to mow my new sod lawn with her mower when mine wouldn't start. she also took the rolls of wire fencing and stakes I'd picked up last year when I thought I was seeding. clearly with the sod, I'm all set with that. she took it with her and had a taker already. I wasn't looking for $ as I'd picked it up via a Buy Nothing page, I just wanted it gone. that lawnmower is going up on the Buy Nothing page as a project, come take it. it hasn't been started in a couple years, at least, so there's probably some shit that needs tinkering. I'd prefer the shed space. oh, and I have a taker for the huge Casio keyboard I've been bringing around since college. I'd call my piano playing something akin to a henpeck typewriter style, the lessons never clicked. but if someone else can benefit? come take it!

It felt good to give them to hospice and to know how they were going to be used.

Knee Deep in Water Chloe how did the family room project go? NastyWoman lol re: the TP! moneysquirrel I like your suitcase repurposing idea. snapdragon good job regarding the assembly progress! Speaking of assembly, I finally did it! Remember me posting about finding a reading chair for my home office for what, at least two years? Months ago, I found one on sale at Wayfair. Purchasing anything was not in my budget at the time. Last week when I was ready, they were out of stock. Well, over the weekend I received an email they are back in stock, it's 41% off, AND free shipping ends tonight. The dark grey velvet upholstered chaise lounge chair should be here by Monday. This will give me motivation to go through the 3 decades worth of greeting cards, pictures and journals and move the roll top desk to a different corner.

Threw out non functional power washer this morning. But still there. Need to call town how to get it GONE!
Hmmm just read Chiver’s post Can I put non functional power washer on buy nothing? Think someone needs to disassemble and clean inside, we have really hard water and it’s probably causing problem. Of course I’ll state isn’t working. I’m not a member of buy nothing but will join

jerseygirl, people take all kinds of things posted on Buy Nothing. I'd post it, mention that it's a handyman special, and see if someone will take it. Someone may even want it for scrap value. What's the worst that can happen? And 'tis the season for power washing.

I'm fighting another bug and ended up sleeping all day and all night on Sunday. Today I threw away an old pair of shoes. I've needed a new laundry basket for several years, but knew there was one full of DD's stuff. Today was the day. I dumped all her stuff onto the sleepover bed and washed out the laundry basket. It has been in the garage for the past 2+ years so there were some spider webs that needed to go. New laundry basket is in my closet and old one is in the garbage.
I suspect most of DD's clothes that were in that basket will also go in the garbage, probably the only thing that will stay around in her dance bag full of dance shoes.

My mom's boyfriend loves tinkering on broken mowers. Sometimes he has a dozen of them in various stages. His 20ish yo grandson made him a deal lately...gs posts them for sale on marketplace and deals with the people and earns himself 20%. BF was slacking on the sales part of the gig so this works well.

This week is over! I'm off for 5 days. DS3 arrives tomorrow night. It's too early to start the semester countdown, but I'm 2/3 done.

This week - calculate / input Master's marks - weed 2 areas of garden - go through garden shelves
We have two sets of garden shelves. We don't need both. I want to get it down to one and give DD the other for her basement storage room. Either DS1 will add it to his move, or we'll bring it to DD next time we visit.

I'm going to Denver on Friday to see DS. Before that, I'll: declutter the kitchen drawers; reorganize and declutter the linen closet in the bathroom; put away winter clothes, and go through boxes taken from the basement and now on the bedroom floor of miscellany from our move. One step at a time.
I'm going now to tackle the linen closet.

I have been slowly picking up steam with decluttering my house. It’s not as easy as it use to be since now I have to try to play nice and let someone else make their own decisions about what needs to go.
It’s still not an organized or concentrated effort worth talking about here, but it is happening. Slowly lol.
Yesterday I threw about 10 pair of shoes in the garbage, and added some more stuff to a bag that I will take to the Goodwill or somewhere. One of our 2 trash bins outside is already half full, just from stuff I threw away yesterday. I’m not sure why the people I live with have an issue with throwing things away, even when it is obviously garbage, but that’s a whole ‘nother subject.
When I really get some momentum and consistency, I will share my progress here.
Until then, keep up all the good work you all are doing!

Did the linen closet. Just need to buy some small shelves to divide the space on the larger shelves. We have a lot of little things to go into that closet, and the space is wasted. Next, winter clothes.

I asked this the other day, but I didn't get a response, so I'll ask again... Has anyone here ever bought a mattress on Amazon? Our mattress was ordered online, but not from Amazon. It is AMAZING, and it was expensive. As I've said, DS1 will be taking his futon mattress to his new house. We replaced the bed base. There's no rush, but we'll need to replace the mattress too at some point. I don't want to spend a lot, because that room is the guest room. I want a decent mattress, but it doesn't need to sing and dance LOL. We all prefer a firm mattress. Any suggested brands? (Not stores, because we don't have the same stores here.) Thanks! :-) Jumping in way late but all 3 of our mattresses came from Amazon. They are Zinus brand memory foam and I am pretty happy with all of them. They have held up well. DS2 is using the twin mattress we bought for DS1 8 years ago and its still like brand new. We did purchase mattress covers for all of them and I think that helps.

Thanks for the accountability!
Yes, I finished the next two stages of the family room project. I have one official stage left; then it's just upkeep.

We have a free weekend this weekend- first one since mid March and last one until mid July. It's also the first free Mother's Day I've had since DS1 was 2 (hes 13 now). We are usually at a sporting event of some sort on that day- soccer for awhile, the past few years have been baseball tournaments. I plan to work in my flower beds this weekend. I've been antsy and ready to dig my fingers in some dirt for weeks. Theres an herb and plant fair at the county fairgrounds this weekend and I may stop and check out the goodies. I usually only purchase plants for my pots each year as my beds are established. But I did redo our backyard bed last fall so it might just need some new friends before I mulch it. I just don't want to spend a ton of $$ on anything. If I make enough progress on that project, I want to power wash the house and clean up the pool area. And then the rest of the weekend will be spent enjoying the deck with the outdoor fan on, curled up on the sofa with a good book.

I've ticked a lot off my list today. I went to two appointments, scheduled another one, completed one set of paper work, a few little chores, an Amazon order I've been ignoring.

Finally got my front license plate mounted. I bought the car in an adjacent state that doesn't require a front plate. My state does require it. There was no license plate bracket to mount a front plate so I had to have the local dealer install one, which required me to order it from the parts department and have them drill holes into the grill to install it. But it's done. Now I just need to get the title fixed, and I'll be set for a while, I hope.
The mattress from Amazon AND the platform bed both arrived today. I got the bed assembled and wrestled the mattress out of the box. It is "relaxing" on the bed now.
I also received a small pad for the rug in my entry (non-skid) and a box of tile I'm considering for the kitchen backsplash.
My front porch was very active with all the deliveries.

nikiz628 that's the same brand as the base we got. I was actually planning to get Zinus mattresses too, but I googled them, and saw there were class action lawsuits against them for using fiberglass in their mattresses!!! Apparently they don't use fiberglass anymore. But since I'm in Europe, I can't help but wonder if they're using Amazon here to get rid of their old stock. Apparently it's only a problem if the mattress cover rips, but I'd still rather not take a chance. I'm glad you got good mattress covers for them and that you're happy with them! We'll probably bite the bullet and go to the mattress store we used for our rental. DS2 got a mattress from there too, and he's happy with it. ETA: Here is one article about it. www.cbsnews.com/news/amazon-zinus-mattress-fiberglass-health-hazard-lawsuit/Clearly, as long as the mattress isn't open or torn, it's fine. But knowing this now, I prefer to get another brand that doesn't use fiberglass. That bed is where DS1/DDIL sleep. The grandkids are next door. As we all know, kids can do really dumb things.

I am way behind on reading but hope y'all are having a good May so far!
I've been busy with non-work commitments (and looking for more work work commitments), including volunteering at the coffee shop, the food bank and giving scholarships out this week to high school students.
At home I got the pool set up on the sand base I built for it years ago and then the thunderstorms helped fill it up a little. I've put the puppy in to splash around and he seems to like it. It's taken me a few weeks to get the mass of weeds out of the garden and yesterday I was able to start mowing. I still have a section to finish today but it's been good to spread it out so I don't end up too sore at the end of the day.
We had a few close calls with thunderstorms and tornados recently but the house is still standing!

Over the years I’ve accumulated a lot of bowls. Today I put all of them on DR table. Put 6 in goodwill box. Organized others and made more space in cabinets Also tablecloths for kitchen table. I don’t use tablecloths there anymore. But keeping 2 that I bought in Provance Paper bags, recycling the small bags, keeping 4 with handles

I did my grocery shopping for this weekend yesterday. Once I got home I didn't feel like getting dirty and weeding flowerbeds for a short period of time. Instead I did small tasks to get ready for this weekend. The outdoor table and chairs have been wiped down. I also wiped down the grill. We get a lot of winds and blowing dust so everything is always dusty. I put away some tarps and garden cover and ran the siphon for a little bit on the pool tarp to get water off that had accumulated on the top. My battery operated siphon was best purchase ever.

Yesterday I was out and weeding the front for over 5 hours -- I started just after 6 AM and really didn't come inside until almost 2 PM. I was so sore and achy I ended up taking a 3+ hour nap.
Contacted a contractor about a new shed and a few other things that need to happen at my place. They were really helpful in assisting me finish installing the very last screw for my double seater outdoor furniture. So happy that is finally done and now outside.
No guest this week. Medical issues popped up, so we are delaying. The tickets were given to the next door neighbors. I saw the play already and enjoyed it so no huge loss.
Waiting for the Cooling people to arrive and look at my AC unit. Every once in a while, it sounds like a miter saw going through metal and for a bit I thought it was the construction around me. But the hours were weird.
I went out and weeded a bit, but I need to give my body a rest and I will try again this evening or early tomorrow.

Well it's going to be a money fix -- both control panels and the sensor in the Heat and AC units are gone. Parts should arrive early next week than install so looking around $425. Still quite a bit cheaper than a new system.

finnime , Pink Cashmere , moneysquirrel , nikiz628 , Knee Deep in Water Chloe , startsmart , debthaven , jerseygirl , seriousthistime, and Rukh O'Rorke nice job! snapdragon that's a lot of yard work, I'd nap as well. Sorry to hear about your cooling system, but yes, I agree, the fix is less expensive than a new system. I delivered my friend to the airport. The week flew by! She seemed to finally relax after a day or two. L was here Wednesday, so they got to meet each other. Today: -Went to Walmart for a few items -Stocked up at the liquor store -"Decluttered" a plastic food container back to a neighbor -Input receipts and balanced my checkbook Now on to declutter my to-do list in preparation for the weekend. Have a good one, everyone.

I am very temporarily rolling in the dough! Today is payday, and my other client paid two invoices together and early! I will be playing with my money this weekend too! It will all be gone very quickly, unfortunately! But I want to make sure I allocate it as best as I can
