Well, I just got around a thousand dollars worth of makeup for $80. Girl math for the win! I probably wouldn't buy makeup all year, hoping for you to give me some! Hahaha 🤣 Can you tell who ran out, because they quit wearing makeup? You got some great deals! Well done. 👍

I bought myself a new purse, online, a few weeks ago. DD2 has been telling me forever, I need to get a new one. I have one I like, but DD2 calls it my Mary Poppins bag. 🤣 She said I need one that a bowling ball won't fit in. Recently, I sat in the back of her new Escalade and put my purse on the seat, next to me. The car alarm kept going off, for someone not wearing their seatbelt. It was my purse. 🙄
Sadly, I don't usually have very good luck with online purchases. So I paid extra, for expedited shipping. Purse was supposed to arrive in 7-12 days. It has been 14 days and there's no sign of it. Nor can I find any tracking info, on anything that has been sent to me. So much for that expensive shipping I paid for, in hopes my order would actually arrive and in a decent amount of time.
So far, my "me" purchase, is a bomb. I've always hated math, of any kind. 😕

Not only that, but whenever someone needs something, such as a bowling ball, who do they ask? Me! And do I usually have what they're looking for? Yes! Or a close substitute. One never knows when you'll be asked to substitute on a bowling league, while vacationing in the Bahamas! Or you may need a golf club unexpectedly, while out to dinner. Sheesh! 😳 It is because I, like Mary Poppins, am willing to pack this bag around on a daily basis, she only needs to carry her phone, drivers license, credit card and key fob. Which she occasionally asks me to carry in my bag. Even though she has a 3 yr old and a 5 yr old. Go ask grandma, if she has a bowling ball, you can use. 🙄 The truth is, she would just take her CC and buy a bowling ball, bag and shoes! (She does not have, nor does she want a YM card, 99.9% of the time.) 😄

Me and my youngest sister try to restrict ourselves to not too large satchels because we will pack too much weight into them. I have no desire to have a really large bag although I usually have a tote for overflow that I do take to work with me in addition to my purse. I need to convert my daily purse back to a pseudo satchel, but I need to go to the mall and the store for that. Its actually a crossbody that sold out at full price that I bought after my mom passed. I wanted something that would remind me of her instead of what she left me moneywise being absorbed into food & medical. Still looks good 4 or so years later because its leather and better quality than what I had been buying. A poster mentioned Portland leather and one of these days I plan to buy a cross belt bag from them. Probably the markdown ones with flaws so I can see how I like it. Like Brighton, they are not cheap at full price for most of their range. They look like they should last for years though, which is important to me.

I have three Portland Leather bags. I love them. My daily bag has been the large circle crossbody (nutmeg Almost Perfect) since I got it this summer, though I will have to switch to a tote soon once bulky coat weather is here.

Certainly NOT your jeans pocket, because women's jeans pockets (in my experience) are worthless. Good for a lip balm and not much else. And for me, pockets are important because I only carry a wallet. I need to be able to comfortably get my keys in, at least.

One of my favorite TikTok follows is a New Zealand radio(?) program that does a regular girl math segment where they help callers rationalize purchases. They've even had an economist on who approved of their way of thinking, so fuck the girl math naysayers. It's professionally approved! www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRvAj1VK/

I like Mich's booties. I'm happy that's she's happy that she bought them. I clicked the link and now they are showing up on my facebook feed (which is ok I had googled dog boots and I've been looking at those for the past week...) Neither type of bootie is for me but they are fun to look at! The "girl math" triggers me... haapai nailed it.

Wait...Portland Leather is a thing outside of the PNW Portland Leather has been showing up on my computer quite a bit. In fact, I received a catalog from them yesterday that I just threw in recycling. I may have to pull it out, but my quick leaf through it I didn’t see anything I couldn’t live without. My problem with buying a purse from someplace is that I need to see the inside of it. My purse needs to hold my wallet, my sunglasses, a pen and a bottle with a few ibuprofen. I bought one purse online that I coveted. I watched it for a looooong time before it went 50% off, so pulled the trigger. I could put either my wallet or sunglasses in it, but not both. I gave it to my niece. I find the same with luggage too. I need to see the inside.

If I was rich, I'd get this because it would go with so many things and last for years with decent care. Brighton has a store at the local mall, so I've seen most of their stuff in person. I do prefer seeing even phone organizers in person, but some things I am willing to risk if the price point isn't too high. The belt bag from Portland leather would replace my old black leather fanny pack I mostly use weekly while doing laundry and going to things like street festivals where I prefer to carry very little. www.brighton.com/products/audrey-satchel?variant=43632781066472

Tip: get on their email list, because once a year you can get a new purse at a discounted price by donating a purse, any brand, to them to give to charity. Just so you know...

DD2 lacks common sense doesn't she. Where is,the world are you supposed to put your bowling ball, which you must carry just in case there is a game you want to join, if you have a tiny(ish) purse? In your jeans pocket? I know. Right? (She does not have, nor does she want a YM card, 99.9% of the time.) 😄 No bow!ing ball in my purse but my (extended!) family acts the same way. So I got curious and stepped on the scale without purse (ouch) and with purse. My everyday load of my purse is 3.9lb. I add a half quart of water to that when my friend and I go on our weekly hike/walk. Among the less common items in my purse are a small adjustable wrench for my hiking poles, a pocket knife with several handy attachments (but not the bulky Swiss knife DS2 gifted me a few years back. Along with common handy items such as bandaids, bug wipes, tiny Altoids, etc. By now even my parents' great grandkids know that my purse probably holds whatever may be needed. Family reunion coming up in January...

Comon' share with us! Is it the front fake pockets, you dont like ? Or perhaps having no pockets, at all. Possibly, it's that immediately upon sitting down, everything you managed to get in that 1/2 inch pocket, slips out,, never to be seen again? Esp when you really need it most. Me, I hate not having a good pocket for my phone, to keep it safely with me, as I do other things. Because if I set it down, I may never find it again. And the idea of putting it in my bra, is less than appealing. Though I see many women do this. Give us your thoughts!

I try to only buy pants with decent pockets jeans and dress pants especially. Designers rarely think of the practical aspects even on pants with pockets. I have a nice gray dress pair of work pants with unfortunate pockets. They are deep, but crease in the wrong place when I bend and sometimes sit. I like the pants but I have lost multiple things while wearing them. Now I am extremely careful as I lost work keys once when running to a grocery store on lunch break. Had no idea where they slipped out in the store, but I knew it was the only place I could have lost those keys. Sadly they need to be in my weekly rotation and I have to watch my keys while at work and even if I put a tissue in my pocket because my sinuses are acting up. Things just fall out, and IMO that should not happen. Having said that, I am probably going to buy a pair of Ponte knit pants from Macy's on BF special because of the price and I need more winter work pants. (No pockets. And pull on, which I do not like. I prefer pants with belt loops.)

I hate fake pockets and the ones that barely hold a tube of chapstick. I've almost lost my phone work in a commode too many times to count. And why do women pay more than men for less? I do not like carrying a purse because it becomes one more thing that I have to watch over.

On the topic of pockets, I always buy pants with pockets. I often buy knit slacks from Lands' End, not because they're the most fashionable, but they sell the type with deep pockets. (If you've ever had a purse stolen, which I have, my car & house keys ALWAYS go in my pocket.)

On the topic of pockets, I always buy pants with pockets. I often buy knit slacks from Lands' End, not because they're the most fashionable, but they sell the type with deep pockets hu. (If you've ever had a purse stolen, which I have, my car & house keys ALWAYS go in my pocket.) I too have had my purse stolen. I am EXTREMELY careful, to NEVER put my purse down, when I'm out and I clip my keys inside and my garage remote is secured as well. But I prefer to have my phone in my pocket, so I can call for help, if needed. If I have to, I'd give up my purse, then run, or something. But I hopefully will have my phone, to get help, at the very least. But another thing for me, keeping my phone on my person, is because I babysit my granddaughters. I need to be able to make, or take a call, immediately. Around the 1st of October, I accidentally left my phone home. I couldn't call my daughter, to tell her I'd be late, so I could go back and get my phone. Instead I drove the 40 minutes to her house, explained what happened, then drove back home 40 minutes, grabbed my phone and drove back to her house again. Ugh. When I have my phone in my pocket, I am constantly reaching to feel for it, just to be sure it's with me. I don't need to take it out. But I can't see it, if it's in my purse, and I don't always hear it, when it is. When I'm at home, it is usually left on my bed. Before I went to Disneyland, I bought a jacket to take with me. It has a secured pocket, within the pocket, for your phone, or keys. So they don't slip out, accidentally. And it would be harder for a pickpocket, to get your items, without you noticing. I like that feature. You can't see it, by just looking at the jacket. You have to know about it, then look for it and undo the security snap. I'd like to see features like that, more often. Women deserve pockets, as much as men do. And not just for looks.

Since the start of the pandemic my house keys and car keys live in my pants pockets too. Never had a purse stolen but during the pandemic I decided safety first. I still buy tees, coats, etc. at Lands' End, but pants only if I can try them on in store.

I still buy tees, coats, etc. at Lands' End, but pants only if I can try them on in store. I get the Sport Knit elastic waist pants. Not stylish, but considering I normally wear tunics, no one can really see how high the waist is on them. I want pockets deep enough for keys, even if I have to give up a bit of style to do it. Warning: for some reason, around the holidays, the pants don't always fit me right if I order on Black Friday. I suspect they rush the order at the factory at this time of year, but that's just my opinion... I love their Winter coats too. In this part of the country, you need a quality, warm jacket.

On the topic of pockets, I always buy pants with pockets. I often buy knit slacks from Lands' End, not because they're the most fashionable, but they sell the type with deep pockets. (If you've ever had a purse stolen, which I have, my car & house keys ALWAYS go in my pocket.) When I was a teenager, someone snatched my Mom’s purse when she was coming out of a store. Fortunately her keys were in her hand and not in her purse. So I learned to never put my keys in my purse. I also don’t put them in my pocket when I’m out and about. I keep them in my hand because they can be a decent weapon if I need to defend myself from somebody that is close enough for me to hit them. Don’t judge me for thinking like that lol, I’m from the ‘hood and learning to defend myself by not fighting fair was a survival skill.

I keep them in my hand too when the parking lot and tend to palm the key so it's sticking out of my knuckles. Gwen asked me why I do that and I said it's just something I was taught as a female as means to defend myself. I don't even realize I am doing it anymore. Unless I jab myself in the thigh then I remember how I am holding them. They do usually go into my purse or pocket when I am shopping otherwise I tend to leave them behind. I was so well known for it at the bank branch I frequented that when I did the walk of shame back the door I didn't even have to ask, they already had them ready for me. After all you saved, a few days ago, you can buy whatever you'd like! Especially if you either used, or got points in the deal. But I have a question... Don't you already have all those colors? Maybe not together, in the same case like this. But seriously, you MUST have those colors already. At least one of each, if not more. Tell the truth! (Nope. I'm not judging. Just curious.) 😉
