Here is an idea: everyone relax. We live in an imperfect world. It is possible to find examples of murders and kids younger than ideal doing dangerous jobs that are tied to immigration. But, on total, is there more bad than good in the current situation? There are individuals living a better life here than they would were they came from. There are children who will be productive members of our society coming in. We all benefit from workers willing to do hard jobs for pay we wouldn't accept. Tru. But we all know business owners, Democrats, independents and Republicans want to keep the cheap labor. So politicians are in no rush at all to create new laws which financially and physically punish business owners for employing undocumented young and old immigrants. So who exactly doesn't want to keep cheap labor?

Being a sanctuary city does not translate to lots more crime, but I know Trump and others want you to believe that. Part of the problem for NYC is reporting on any crime has gone way up since Adams became mayor. So people assume things are worse when its mostly crime reporting blew up. www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2022-is-nyc-safe-crime-stat-reality/Part of the outsized perception can be traced to the city’s new mayor, Eric Adams, whose focus on crime helped propel the 22-year veteran of the New York City Police Department into the job.
Once in office, he staked his administration on the idea that he’s uniquely suited to provide a quick fix to the complex problem of eradicating violence in the city. Crisscrossing the city to show up at crime scenes big and small, he became well-known for delivering sermon-like admonitions in apocalyptic terms. “We’re in a real scary place,” Adams said in a May police briefing where he likened the NYPD’s work to war deployment.
Media coverage has followed Adams’s lead. There were nearly 800 stories per month across all digital and print media about crime in New York City following Adams’s inauguration, according to an analysis of data compiled by Media Cloud. That compares to an average 132 stories per month during the eight-year tenure of the previous mayor, Bill de Blasio.

So who exactly doesn't want to keep cheap labor? Nobody I guess including the U.S. Congress. i would imagine anyone who IS cheap labor doesn't want to remain that way. i would also add that most economists don't want labor to remain cheap. there is something called the "virtuous cycle" whereby all participants in the economy benefit equally from gains in productivity. that cycle has been broken for 50 years. and i would add that during that time, GDP growth, wage growth for the bottom 50%, our ability to produce balanced budgets, the GINI index, debt -vs- GDP, social unrest and every liberal progress that was made in the 150 years preceding that point has STOPPED. you can call that a coincidence if you like. i choose not to.

Could all this have been avoided if they were not a "Sanctuary" state?? I wonder if or when the legislature will wake up on the next state election to the cost of their benevolence? Will the people of NY rise up and end this social experiment like the Boston Tea Party?

Another news article by fox. Do you actually read anything that isn’t right wing garbage? I can/do read the same story on ABC, CBS, NBC news websites and it all reads the same. They have their slant also. My home page is MSN News. Fox News seems to be the one that pops up more than others. They lean left of center. mediabiasfactcheck.com/msn-com/.

You probably get a lot of Fox News articles because you tend to read them. Plus there is what is being pushed by advertisers etc. I get far too much Temu which is a Chinese super cheap goods company which I think is far more than just a cheap goods supplier with issues.

Probably not as governors are bussing immigrants to them for political points.

Do you ever think your time would be served better by contacting your representatives in Congress to solve this issue rather than counting how many articles you can? Do you not see that we are the greatest nation in the world and can solve any issue if we really wanted to? I know, I know, then I woke up, right? Your party can't even get along with each other, why would I think that they all could work together? Keep counting and bitching, I guess.

Conservatives don’t want to fix the problem. It is better to keep their base angry. Solving the problem requires compromise, and as we can see in regards to the budget, they have no desire to compromise. Keep them angry about this, and they won’t notice how they are screwing them.
They bitch and moan about this, but Trump’s trying to overthrow an election is no big deal.

The Washington Examiner is so bad that I refuse to even read any of their articles any more. I don't recall if I have ever found even one that was sensible and thoughtful, and most of their claims are so off-base I have to question why anybody would believe them. I actually get angry if I click on a link and it turns out to be them.

If I'm a illegal, I know I can go to these states/cities and not have to worry about if I run into trouble, they won't call INS and inquire about my status. If that's not a inducement to go to these places I don't know what is. Food, housing, medical, transportation etc. All free.

You are woefully uninformed. They can be arrested for criminal activity. There is a limit to all the “free” stuff. Not to mention that the crime rate is lower in “illegals” than it is in US citizens. Maybe we should deport them.

Another news article by fox. Do you actually read anything that isn’t right wing garbage? I looked for this news story on all the legacy media and none of them had it on their web sites. ABC, CBS, NBC, Associated Press, The Guardian, PBS, Reuters. Spent over 1 hr looking and nothing.
Your response I'm sure is it wasn't worth covering. And you wonder why I read Fox news. I found it interesting.

Not calling ICE is a different issue from your mostly false beliefs about housing and medical being available to immigrants presenting themselves at the border. Demand has been too high post pandemic and many are living like homeless people. Image is from Chicago, there are more but my system is seizing up on the article so I can't copy text or more pics. www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/09/25/migrant-surge-us-cities/70921430007/
