During summer school break over fifty years ago, I worked at country club's thirteenth hole snack bar. One afternoon, a father and his two sons entered the snack bar for some lunch. One of the son's had from the top of his head head to ankles fresh, deep scars. What lay beneath his short sleeved shirt and shorts one could only imagine. The son with the full body scars way maybe twelve or thirteen years old when I saw him. I later asked one of the grounds keepers who was in the snack bar at the time the dad and his sons were there what happened to the son. The grounds keeper told me the son, while driving an all-terrain vehicle at dusk, had unknowingly driven straight into a barbed-wire fence. The fence had multiple levels of barbed-wire across it. The young boy (at the time) got all caught up in the wire and required hundreds of stiches and several operations to repair the damage to his body. The picture below is not a picture of the young boy I mention above. It is though a picture of a male who while operating an All-terrain vehicle drove right into a barbed-wire fence. Now picture the cuts to the boy's neck in the picture below and imagine what it might have looked like on the boy in my story above. Cut from head to toe. I know you, Rip, like the idea of publicly caning young men as punishment for their infractions against the law. But do you really want to invest in razor wire to stop people on the other side of the border who are fleeing poverty and crime in their home countries? Remember-minor children do travel with their parents and have little to say in where their parents take them. And minor children will get caught up in razor wire if abbott refuses to take it down which federal law and the Supreme Court of the United States have ruled against abbott and razor wire. Know how to not get all cut up by razor wire---don't cross it. Put it up at the border with lots of danger signs some saying you cross this you dumb ass you will get fucked up. Yep that should do it Still wanting to see children drown and all cut up I see.

I see you didn't bother to read my earlier post I made yesterday. Trump doesn't want the congressional republicans to pass any border security legislation. Read the below: For ripvanwinkle (again). GOP senators seethe as Trump blows up delicate immigration compromiseSenior Senate Republicans are furious that Donald Trump may have killed an emerging bipartisan deal over the southern border, depriving them of a key legislative achievement on a pressing national priority and offering a preview of what’s to come with Trump as their likely presidential nominee. In recent weeks, Trump has been lobbying Republicans both in private conversations and in public statements on social media to oppose the border compromise being delicately hashed out in the Senate, according to GOP sources familiar with the conversations – in part because he wants to campaign on the issue this November and doesn’t want President Joe Biden to score a victory in an area where he is politically vulnerable. Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell acknowledged in a private meeting on Wednesday that Trump’s animosity toward the yet-to-be-released border deal puts Republicans in a serious bind as they try to move forward on the already complex issue. For weeks, Republicans have been warning that Trump’s opposition could blow up the bipartisan proposal, but the admission from McConnell was particularly striking, given he has been a chief advocate for a border-Ukraine package. Now, Republicans on Capitol Hill are grappling with the reality that most in the GOP are loathe to do anything that is seen as potentially undermining the former president. And the prospects of a deal being scuttled before it has even been finalized has sparked tensions and confusion in the Senate GOP as they try to figure out if, and how, to proceed – even as McConnell made clear during party lunches Thursday that he remains firmly behind the effort to strike a deal, according to attendees. “I think the border is a very important issue for Donald Trump. And the fact that he would communicate to Republican senators and congresspeople that he doesn’t want us to solve the border problem because he wants to blame Biden for it is … really appalling,” said GOP Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah, who has been an outspoken critic of Trump. He added, “But the reality is that, that we have a crisis at the border, the American people are suffering as a result of what’s happening at the border. And someone running for president not to try and get the problem solved. as opposed to saying, ‘hey, save that problem. Don’t solve it. Let me take credit for solving it later.’” GOP Sen. Todd Young of Indiana called any efforts to disrupt the ongoing negotiations “tragic” and said: “I hope no one is trying to take this away for campaign purposes.” Rest of article here: GOP senators seethe as Trump blows up delicate immigration compromiseThe article is absolutely right. If they reach a agreement no matter how bad it is, it won't be good for the nation. This is Trumps rallying cry. No matter what the agreement is they are not going to stem the tide of 8+ million a year and that is on both hands. I predict within 10 years we will have a terrorist act we can lay blame on the unvetted illegals. you are parroting Trump speak. talk to the hand. i will bet you $1000 that we will have lots of terrorist acts in the next (10) years, and precisely ZERO will be traced back to the southern border. why should they? you think that a well organized terrorist group would send people in that way? why would they? they can send people to flight training school in Florida. it is simple and LEGAL to do that. why would they risk the 90% chance of being deported at the border? you are not thinking clearly, rip. neither are the 40% who parrot Trump speak. please think for yourself. please examine the facts. you are being had. the only thing that happens in 10 years is that you will regret how much you got suckered in by all of this nonsense. but what the heck? at least you will have TP.

All righty! Timothy McVeigh was not a domestic terrorist according to the republican Senate of Idaho. This Idaho plan to get rid of domestic terrorism doesn’t involve fighting itI’ve got great news. Despite its notorious history of racist and anti-government violence carried out by militia groups, we may no longer need to worry about domestic terrorism in Idaho. The Idaho Senate voted Thursday 27-8 to advance a bill that defines “domestic terrorism” as requiring the involvement of foreign groups. According to the bill, if there’s no foreign involvement, then there can be no domestic terrorism. If you think that sounds like it's opposite the meaning of “domestic,” you’re right. The problem is not only that this contortionist’s view of our domestic threat defies logic, but also that it seems aimed at clouding any perception of fellow Americans as a threat. Idaho Senate Bill 1220’s statement of purpose explains that it would codify this bizarre definition of domestic terrorism while simultaneously ensuring that no one in Idaho could be called a domestic terrorist, or a terrorist of any kind, unless they’ve been convicted of or pleaded guilty to activities connected to a foreign terrorist group. Idaho Senate Majority Leader Kelly Anthon, the Republican who sponsored the bill, wraps himself in a “free speech” defense when he explains his proposal to essentially erase the notion of domestic terrorism as we know it. To hear him tell it, terrorists are simply people who speak their minds and hang out with their peers. Rest of republican nonsense here: This Idaho plan to get rid of domestic terrorism doesn’t involve fighting it

I am so glad that this is the most pressing issue for the state of Idaho to deal with. Must be utopia!

House GOP faces pointed conservative criticism on Mayorkas impeachmentA growing number of conservative voices are encouraging House Republicans to drop their campaign to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, arguing the GOP has not met the constitutional bar for removing him from office. Articles of impeachment for Mayorkas accuse him of violating immigration laws that require the detention of all migrants — something no administration has ever done — as well as a “breach of public trust.” But notable conservatives have said those arguments fall far short of the high crimes and misdemeanors standard set out in the constitution. Alan Dershowitz, who represented former President Trump in his first impeachment trial, accused House Republicans on Tuesday of using “double standards” in backing “vague” charges against Mayorkas when they refused to do so for the former president. Any backers, he said, are “distorting the Constitution.” Legal expert and regular GOP witness Jonathan Turley said they had no “cognizable basis” for impeachment, while Michael Chertoff, a Republican who led the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under former President George W. Bush, wrote in an op-ed that House Republicans have “failed to put forth evidence that meets the bar.” The conservative-leaning Wall Street Journal editorial board dropped a critical take amid the House Homeland Security Committee’s marathon markup of the articles, writing that a Mayorkas impeachment “achieves nothing” while backing a key Democratic argument in calling the matter a policy dispute. Dershowitz was one of the most critical of the House GOP articles, saying it would be hypocritical to support a Mayorkas impeachment when lawmakers rejected arguments for Trump that the attorney pegged as not fitting the standard of high crimes and misdemeanors. Rest of article here: House GOP faces pointed conservative criticism on Mayorkas impeachment

i want to get back to the terrorism issue for a second.
Americans seem to have little idea what engenders it. typically it is DISPLACEMENT. the proximate target for terrorism is a sense that a certain group is being displaced by another group: culturally, religiously, and/or economically. this is pretty much the case with 100% of terrorist events. that is thing one.
thing two is that these groups are generally ORGANIZED. at least in it's most DANGEROUS form (the one we should be MOST concerned with) it is. all difficulties are overcome through careful planning, and thoughtful research, and, crucially, $.
thing three is that the target for terrorism is people who will be frightened enough to change their politics because of it. the idea is to attack democracy by making the electorate feel vulnerable.
so, if we agree on all of that (and we should, it is a fact), which group is most likely to cause us trouble this year in the US due to numbers, organization, and $$? white nationalists, or Hamas? and given that fact, why should i NOT think that this entire border scare thing is cover for Civil War II?

From The Onion. Slideshow. Texans Explain Why Razor Wire Should Be Allowed At The BorderDespite both the Supreme Court and the Biden administration ordering the removal of razor wire along the U.S.-Mexico border, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has pledged to continue installing it. The Onion asked Texans why they support the controversial deterrent, and this is what they said. The MAGA Truckers Are Back—And Heading to the BorderA convoy that includes election deniers, anti-vaxxers and QAnon devotees is determined to insert itself into the border battles—and experts warn that trouble could escalate. A convoy of Jesus-loving truckers will converge on the southern border next week in a battle to stop what they say is a migrant “invasion,” as Texas remains locked in a standoff with the feds over razor wire it installed along the Rio Grande in Eagle Pass. But the event—called the “Take Our Border Back Convoy” and promoted by far-right media—is advertised as a “peaceful assembly” of active and former law enforcement, military, ranchers, bikers, business owners, and “Mama Bears.” As Media Matters pointed out, some organizers include a rogues’ gallery of election deniers, anti-vaxxers, and QAnon conspiracy theorists. One ringleader, Kim Yeater, recently told a Christian podcaster that the convoy is “a god movement” that could halt a “Trojan horse” in the 2024 election. Rest of article here: The MAGA Truckers Are Back—And Heading to the BorderSo who are “Take Our Border Back" calling to participate is the convoy? From their website: We The People Taking Our Border Back Well this didn't take long: Blame it on the Jewish community. Texas Border Convoy Descends into Antisemitism
A video is circulating on social media of an antisemitic conspiracy theory being promoted at a Texas border rally. The video shows Michael Yon making false claims regarding so-called "terrorists coming across the border being funded by Jewish money." Yon was speaking at a "Take Back Our Border" convoy in Texas. In the video posted on X, formerly Twitter, the man can be heard claiming that HIAS, a global Jewish nonprofit that works to protect refugees, is responsible for funding terrorists coming to America. The claims are untrue and tap into wider false conspiracy theories regarding Jewish links to terrorism schemes. Rest of article here: Texas Border Convoy Descends into Antisemitism

And more crap from MAGA cult members. 'God's Army' trucker convoy descends into vigil for 'hero' MAGA riotersThe "God's Army" trucker convoy intended to protest the influx of migrants entering the United States on the southern border has largely been a bust so far, with attendance well below its organizers' hopes. What's more, The Daily Beast reports that the convoy this week more or less degenerated into a vigil to honor the imprisoned "patriots" who violently stormed the United States Capitol on January 6th, 2021. One notable figure at the convoy is Joshua Macias, who in 2020 went to a polling site in Philadelphia armed with an AR-15 rifle and a Samurai sword in the name of ensuring the "integrity" of the vote. Macias was also at the Capitol on January 6th, although he insists he never went into the building itself and has not been arrested or charged with any crimes related to the riots. Nonetheless, he described himself as "one of the J6ers" while speaking to convoy attendees, which led one woman to declare, "This gentleman is a J6er" and "a hero." She went on to declare that "I’m here to tell you there are over 1,200 Patriots locked up" for committing crimes related to the riots. The group even chanted the name of Ashli Babbitt, the Trump supporter who was fatally shot by a police officer after she tried to breach the congressional chamber. Back to border security
The GOP has shown they don’t actually give a shit. The Dems are bending way way more than they would normally, and because the bill doesn’t go ALL THE WAY, republicans won’t vote for it. I don’t think there is anything in the bill that would stop them from passing more legislation next year. But if they bend, they can’t campaign on it. This will be our last chance for awhile to get anything passed.

And that will be on republicans head and their legacy.

What is the definition of an open border? A+ for asking that question. A: "what every other nation on Earth has had since the fall of the Berlin Wall" the idea that open borders are an issue for the other 193 nations is ludicrous. that is how it is done. which means you need to manage your migrant population through enforcement. not f(*king walls.

I heard a GOP congressman on NPR yesterday explaining that he would never vote for anything that the dems are willing to vote for and that Biden will approve. For some of the far righties, politics is no longer about working on bipartisan bills to craft effective legislation to move the country forward. It’s all about being obstacles to progress in the most obnoxious way possible so you get your face published across the internet.

From photos and videos I’ve seen it says ‘climb the walls’. That is part of the problem. The wall is there to say use the front door but the rules are being ignored with little to no consequence of it. Look at it this way you go to a restaurant and instead of someone using the front door they open a window and climb in, what would happen to this person. Banned from the restaurant, arrested, both. Enter the country illegally (not using the door is illegal) not much is done and very little recourse.
