Well that explains why trump is in trouble, yes? Even more trouble than that, I believe. Notably, the indictment in Florida left out any charges on the reported cases of showing classified documents to unauthorized persons at Bedminster. Dissemination of classified information is a more serious crime than willful retention of documents. I can easily believe that there could be another indictment coming in New Jersey if some MAGA believer screws up the jury, or Judge Cannon screws up the prosecution's case. Because that behavior happened in New Jersey, it would be properly charged in New Jersey. Saw this on TV this am - second indictment in New Jersey over the two instances of showing off classified documents to untrained people may be in the works. This way if a MAGA minion wrecks the Florida case they have a second indictment in a less MAGA state.

At least that is how he will frame it. Is there a point that enough voters will buy it?

This is a deep state action against the one politician in America who is not part of the deep state and who is truly fighting for ‘Merica. However, I know three people who voted for Trump twice who are not conspiracy nuts. All three said they’re voting for any other GOP candidate because they are tired of the constant drama. We have to hope they’re enough of those folks and independents who will defeat Trump in the primary. I’ll be voting in the GOP primary again this year myself 😉

There is no chance in hell he could win the General (from prison) . He couldn't win in 2020, and it's not like he's gained voters with all that has happened since. He's toast.

I think it would be better for the long term health of our nation to have him rejected by Republican primary voters and the GOP national convention.

I think there were a lot of people who voted for him because he was an unknown. I also think misogyny played a large part. Trump would probably win against Kamala.

It still amazes me how the GOP tries to defend him. Saw this today, & IMHO it applies to Trump:

Everything is on owning the dems and consolidating their power. Trump has shown that he is the quickest easiest path to both goals.

Also....I just went to Fox website to see what they are saying, and not one single article on the main page is about Trump and the indictment! Nothing at all! They are acting like its not even happening lol.

Oh well, putting his name on hotels in different countries seems to be one of the few things he gets excited about. I still think its a major reason he is so into Putin although it looks like they both learned how to be better assholes to their countrymen from each other.

well, my internet is not cooperating with me tonight so I can’t link the story, but Trump told Fox that the reason he didn’t give all those boxes back is because he had his golf shirts and shoes and stuff mixed in with all that other stuff, and he didn’t want to send all that stuff back to the archives. And darn it, he’s been so busy he hasn’t had a chance to go through them yet.
Interesting how his story keeps evolving. I don’t think we’re done yet. He’ll be crafting and recrafting that story right up until he sits his ass in the courtroom.
I hope this reminds everyone about how kids always do this - young, guilty, caught-red-handed kids.

And darn it, he’s been so busy he hasn’t had a chance to go through them yet.. this story directly contradicts a story that is already being told by witnesses: that between around October and Jan of this year, he had gone through the boxes. that resulted in the 15 boxes that went back to the NA. the easy way to tell would be, of course, if no shoes and shirts were in those (OTHER) boxes. which i am sure they weren't.

Well, he does have the intellectual and emotional capacity of a third grader. Didn’t he say he hasn’t changed since 1st grade or something like that? Yes, and he was proud of that fact. Add to that the fact that he was such a brat in elementary school he had to be shipped off to military school and you have some idea how he got to be the shallow, craven adult he is.

I will say Bret at Fox did a good job interviewing Trump. He pressed Trump on a lot of things, including the Big Lie.
Trump came off as flustered, combative, self pitying and rambling.
Guarantee none of his few remaining lawyers thought it was a good idea for him to go on Fox and talk about the case against him.

I am sure Trump's legal team will push back. Judge sets Aug. 14 trial date for Trump documents caseA Florida judge has set an initial Aug. 14 trial date for former President Trump in the Justice Department’s (DOJ) case over his retention of classified documents. Judge Aileen Cannon set the preliminary trial date for roughly two months after Trump’s arraignment at her courtroom in Fort Pierce, Fla. The judge said in a Tuesday filing that all pre-trial motions must be filed by July 24. Trump and his team are expected to push to delay the trial through those motions, however, making it unlikely that the Aug. 14 date will hold.
