I'm afraid, since the trial is being held in Florida, that this will end up in a mistrial. No matter how much evidence proves him guilty, he won't be convicted if just one person on the jury finds him not guilty, right? I read that somewhere, so I don't know how true it is, or what would happen after. No, this is a mistrial. BBC made this claim yesterday. Thank you!

So I was just watching an interview with one of Trumps previous attorneys on CNN. He's saying that Trump was negotiating with the Archives folks very nicely and the problem is the AG came at Trump too aggressively in it's first communication. If they had been nicer Trump would have cooperated. He's also saying that Trump had the right to keep "personal" documents and he hadn't gone through the boxes yet to determine what was personal and what wasn't.

A YouTuber named Legal Eagle (give him a watch, he's actually very informative and knowledgeable) said there is reason to believe that Kid Rock is one of the people who was shown classified military documents.

There is something wrong with that? I am sure he had all kinds of insight on how to improve the plans.

Frankly, I'd prefer Kid Rock handle classified information rather than Trump. I think he's got more sense.

He only mentioned Kid Rock. However, I wouldn't doubt that Ted Nugent and Kanye also saw them

OMG that is so funny! Trump trying to impress a washing up singer with no fans or influence. Most of the celebrities that support Trump are all has-beens, except Kanye.

Trump is now claiming those boxes contained ‘shirts and shoes and all kinds of stuff.’ we are not concerned with those. although that seems weird. we are ONLY concerned with the classified materiels. thanks, Jack Smith

I would have preferred: you have until noon tomorrow (date) or I effing will throw you in jail. Excuse my French (added for the required/requested niceness)

Trump rejected lawyers’ efforts to avoid classified documents indictmentOne of Donald Trump’s new attorneys proposed an idea in the fall of 2022: The former president’s team could try to arrange a settlement with the Justice Department. The attorney, Christopher Kise, wanted to quietly approach Justice to see if he could negotiate a settlement that would preclude charges, hoping Attorney General Merrick Garland and the department would want an exit ramp to avoid prosecuting a former president. Kise would hopefully “take the temperature down,” he told others, by promising a professional approach and the return of all documents. But Trump was not interested after listening to other lawyers who urged a more pugilistic approach, so Kise never approached prosecutors, three people briefed on the matter said. A special counsel was appointed months later. Kise, a former solicitor general of Florida who was paid $3 million upfront to join Trump’s team last year, declined to comment. That quiet entreaty last fall was one of many occasions when lawyers and advisers sought to get Trump to take a more cooperative stance in a bid to avoid what happened Friday. The Justice Department unsealed an indictment including more than three dozen criminal counts against Trump for allegedly keeping and hiding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida. Rest of article here: Trump rejected lawyers’ efforts to avoid classified documents indictment

From the PRA: Establishes that Presidential records automatically transfer into the legal custody of the Archivist as soon as the President leaves office. Presidential Records Act (PRA) of 1978

exactly.
so it is exactly the OPPOSITE of what Trump says. he has said, OVER AND OVER AGAIN, that the PRA "lets him keep whatever he wants". that is not true. it does just the opposite. all ORIGINAL documents must be returned to the archives. Trump can keep COPIES of documents, so long as they are not "sensitive". there are a few different categories of sensitive documents, and apparently, he had all of them.
every time lawyers are asked about this, they roll their eyes. not a SINGLE ONE has backed up Trump's claim.
AS FAR AS I KNOW.

There is no way that a classified document could be argued to be a personal item.

new Quinnipiac poll out yesterday has Trump at 59% unfavorable. that is a TERRIBLE rating.
NOTE: Quinnipiac is an A- pollster. one of the best out there. it is also down 6% since their last survey six weeks ago.

Now if we were to take him at his word riddle me this: how can he run for the job again since there is a constitutional limit of 8 years (22nd amendment) in that job?

You expect an attorney who chose to work for Trump to tell the truth? I would not waste my time listening to any of them as they are going to lie. That's why he hired them in the first place. As pointed out already, it is all lies. I doubt Trump was trying to negotiate anything. At best he was saying his version of "mine. mine. mine".

There is no way that a classified document could be argued to be a personal item. Well that explains why trump is in trouble, yes? Even more trouble than that, I believe. Notably, the indictment in Florida left out any charges on the reported cases of showing classified documents to unauthorized persons at Bedminster. Dissemination of classified information is a more serious crime than willful retention of documents. I can easily believe that there could be another indictment coming in New Jersey if some MAGA believer screws up the jury, or Judge Cannon screws up the prosecution's case. Because that behavior happened in New Jersey, it would be properly charged in New Jersey.
