Trump says he’s been charged in Mar-a-Lago classified documents investigation

Former president Donald Trump said Thursday night that he’s been charged by the Justice Department in connection with the discovery that hundreds of classified documents were taken to his Mar-a-Lago home after he left the White House — a widely anticipated but also seismic event in the nation’s political and legal history.

Several Trump advisers confirmed the charges. Trump said he has been summoned to appear in federal court in Miami on Tuesday at 3 p.m. A seven-count indictment has been filed in federal court naming the former president as a criminal defendant, according to people familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe a case that has yet to be unsealed.

A spokesman for special counsel Jack Smith, who has been running the investigation since November, declined to comment.

The indictment was from a federal grand jury in Miami.

I was wondering what that bribery thing was about. So a paid FBI informant says he knows the Biden family got money from the Ukrainian oil company.

Wonder if this informant will also disappear like that woman who claimed Biden assaulted her - the one that ran off to Russia to hide out with Putin because she felt her left was in danger here.

Maybe when the DOJ unseals the indictment those republicans running for president will speak out.

If they don't speak out then what does it say about them. Are they afraid of trump? Is it okay to break the laws of our country if one is a past president of it?

Republicans are responsible for creating the monster called DJT. Had they tried to reel in his behavior since 2014, trump might not be in the legal mess he is in today. Republicans have only themselves (and trump) for his legal problems today. No one else to blame.

By the way, our local village idiot Marge Greene went on TV and talked about how the DOJ is ‘hiding’ a memo about this paid informant giving bribes to the Biden family. Marge had to go to a secret facility to view the document and couldn’t take pictures or note paper in the room while doing it so she tried to memorize the document then ran out of the room to the first available table and wrote down everything she remembered. Then she waved her notes in front of the camera.

Not sure but if that’s a classified document I think it’s illegal to tell anyone about what you read and also illegal to write what you remember about it down.

Hopefully someone will investigate that.

It is super smart for them to stay quiet until there is more information out there. I suspect the smarter candidates know that the DOJ wouldn’t have done this without significant proof and the grand jury wouldn’t have agreed without compelling documentation. If you want to have a viable, respectable position on this - it is best to wait until the public has access to a lot more verified information and then decide the best way to talk about it.

Biden, however, should say nothing. Fox News already is saying “Biden’s DOJ” in every sentence to make it seem personal and calculated by Joe - if he says nothing, or at best clarifies the distance between him and this case, he won’t feed that beast.
