And another mass shooting where the shooter had no business possessing any type of firearm. 5 dead in Texas 'execution-style' shooting, suspect armed with AR-15 is on the looseFive people are dead after being shot in a Texas home by a suspect armed with AR-15 style rifle in a horrific series of "execution style" shootings, police said. The incident occurred at 11:31 p.m. local time on Friday when officials from the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office received a call about harassment in the town of Cleveland, about 55 miles north of Houston. When authorities arrived at the location, they found several victims shot at the property, police said. Three of the deceased were females and two were males, including the youngest, an 8-year-old boy. Two female victims were discovered in the bedroom lying on top of two surviving children, authorities told ABC News. Police said they believe the massacre occurred after neighbors asked the suspect to stop shooting his gun in the front yard because there was a baby trying to sleep. "My understanding is that the victims, they came over to the fence and said 'Hey could [you not do your] shooting out in the yard? We have a young baby that's trying to go to sleep," and he had been drinking and he says 'I'll do what I want to in my front yard,'" San Jacinto County Sheriff Greg Capers told KTRK. I wonder how Fox News, OAN and others will spin this. Shooter is a male Mexican national age undisclosed.
Authorities said the suspect is a Hispanic male armed with an AR-15 style rifle and was believed to be intoxicated, authorities say. They say he is approximately 5-foot-8 and last seen wearing blue jeans with a black shirt and work boots and is described as having short black hair.
Capers believes the 10 people in the home lived together, with four to five of them just moving into the home from Houston within the last three or four days. The victims are all of Honduran descent, and the shooter is a Mexican national.
Capers said footage from a Ring doorbell at the victims’ house shows the shooter entering the home where the shooting took place with a weapon.
Any guesses for fun on the shooter's age? I will probably be wrong, but I'll go for between 25 and 35 yrs old.

No, more like it is an expensive lesson for both the scammer and the victim who thought using a gun was a better idea than the legal system. He'll spend way more than $40 dollars just getting to trial. Then he will probably become unemployed whether he does well at trial (doubt it) or not.

Just my humble guesses.

The latest idiot. People like him need their firearms confiscated before they harm others. Illinois man using leaf blower allegedly shot, killed by neighbor in his drivewayAn Illinois man using a leaf blower on his property was allegedly shot and killed by his neighbor this month, becoming the latest in a string of shooting victims purportedly targeted while doing everyday tasks. William Martys was found dead in his Antioch Township driveway around 7:35 p.m. on April 12 with a gunshot wound to his head, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office. He was declared dead at a local hospital. After an investigation, authorities on Tuesday arrested Martys' 79-year-old neighbor, Ettore Lacchei, who they say allegedly approached Martys and began arguing with him. During the dispute, Lacchei allegedly shot and killed Martys, according to police. "Our condolences go out to the family and friends of William Martys, who was senselessly murdered," said Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg. "The members of the sheriff's office are relentless when it comes to seeking justice for victims. The members of our Criminal Investigations Division have been working around the clock to bring Mr. Martys' murderer to justice, and I am happy Mr. Martys' family can begin the closure and healing process." Lacchei is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and is being held without bond in the county jail. Chris Covelli, a spokesman for the sheriff's department, said, "He hasn't been arraigned, so no plea yet." Rest of article here: Illinois man using leaf blower allegedly shot, killed by neighbor in his drivewayMaybe Mr. Martys was a second amendment advocate and would be happy his neighbor was able to exercise his second amendment rights.

Two more Texas mass murders, a guy shot up a mall in Allen TX and then a person rammed their car into a bus stop outside a refuge for homeless and /or immigrant people.
The guy at the mall is so far looking like a white supremacy extreme white terrorist based on his hundreds of neo Nazi social media posts.
The guys name was Mauricio Garcia. Dude! You realize you would have been one of the people Hitler shoved into an oven, not one of the storm troopers, right? Did you miss the Aryan part?
Let me apologize in advance for saying a cop shot him dead in front of a Fatburger in the mall and that made me laugh ghoulishly. You ended like a SNL sketch, shithead. Roast in hell with Hitler.

I read a little about the mall shooting. I am sick of people defending these AR-15s and similar. One of the accounts had a bystander come in after it was over to assist. Found a girl/woman crouching behind a bush. Touched her to see if she was alive. Turned her only to find out she had no face becayse the shooter blew it off with the AR-15. Of course, some of the usual, mom dead and small child covered in mother's blood. Kind of the current GOP agenda wish list right there.

Maybe a page from the AntiAbortionist playbook needs to be taken.
Is/are there any groups that would stand outside gun shops (or conventions) and/or the houses of pro gun politians holding up placards with images of people (or what's left of them) who have been shot and killed? The images don't have to be actual victims - they can be photo shopped somewhat.
Why not make the people going into gun ranges and gun shops and their politicians - squirm alittle. The protestors don't need to be confrontational or loud or anything else. They just need to be seen.
Why not have a display anywhere the gun toting public congregates? too bad if their little kids are traumatized - (it's not like they aren't going to see that in their school or church or mall or other public place at some point).
THEY are the ones that need to do something about this problem. They need to pressure their community (the people who buy and sell guns and who use guns for fun and entertainment or as part of their livelihood (farmers/ranchers/whatever - who have to deal with wild/local animals)
Maybe they all need to come off the sidelines and say something and do something. Because saying/doing nothing makes them complicit in every mass shooting in America in my mind.

I'm sure Texas will do better going forward

Especially since some graphic images are all over Twitter allegedly. I do think echoing their techniques with these images should happen. The tough thing will be coming up with a way to do this without traumatizing family members more than they already are. (Just noticed your Photoshop suggestion, I think they should be realish with face and other identifying information photshopped out. )

I'm not complicit in any mass shooting I'm smarter than that knowing a gun didn't do anything it is a tool that was used for evil intentions. That is like saying pro abortion women are complicit in infant genocide. Kinda of stupid right only the person getting one is the guilty one.

The question is more whose mind would it change? There have been girls and women who folded from the pressure of anti-abortion groups marching around women's health clinics.
It affected some people. So this will affect some people as well. How many? TBD.

Now we have far right whackadoodles like MTG and Ann Coulter picking up on the fact and using that to claim that the mall shooter couldn’t possibly have been a white supremist because he’s Hispanic, and only stupid white people would believe that he was. Trying so hard to avoid linking this tragedy to the far right nut jobs they’re willing to overlook hundreds of social media rants about black people.

www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/05/09/louisiana-shooting-girl-hide-seek/A Louisiana man has been charged after police said he shot a 14-year-old girl playing hide-and-seek on his property in the back of the head. The shooting occurred Sunday morning in Starks, La., a rural town of fewer than 700 people near the border with Texas. Officers from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received reports of a shooting at a property there, the office said in a news release. When they arrived, they found the girl suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening, the release said. The release said children had been playing hide-and-seek in the area and hiding on David V. Doyle’s property. Doyle, 58, told officers he got his gun after seeing “shadows outside his home.” Doyle “then advised detectives he went back outside and observed people running away from his property, at which time he began shooting at them and unknowingly hit the girl,” according to the release.

How do you propose we keep guns out of the hands of people who do these acts? Do you have one? Do Republicans? You keep harping on the same stupid talking points, and people continue to die. Do we just accept that this is the way things are now? We cannot do anything to change this? You have no answer for these questions because your "right" and desire to own these weapons outweighs our right to leave without the fear of being shot at school or going to the mall. And before we say we need more people armed, answer 1 question. We have more guns than anywhere else in the world, yet we are the only place where this happens. More guns do not make us safer. it has been shown over and over again, but you refuse to believe the data.

Until people stop doing evil things there won't be a solution. You are right our rights to own and bear arms do outweigh the fear of getting shot. There are approx 70 millions guns in this country than there are people so statistically the amount of gun violence is acutally pretty low compared to gun ownership check the data on that.

It is unlikely people will stop doing evil things. Nevertheless, we have transitioned from black powder muskets to whatever the army and armed forces in the US use today. Cars have been made safer because much of society likes protecting children and people in general should they be in an accident. The tide is turning, people are not happy about finding bodies of their loved ones with big holes in them. No face, no torso or barely there for school age shooting victims. The tide is turning.

They need to pressure their community (the people who buy and sell guns and who use guns for fun and entertainment or as part of their livelihood (farmers/ranchers/whatever - who have to deal with wild/local animals) Maybe they all need to come off the sidelines and say something and do something. Because saying/doing nothing makes them complicit in every mass shooting in America in my mind. It probably wouldn't have much outcome for change. How many women saw those signs and pictures of abortions yet still are pro abortion? It wouldn't change my mind of pro gun rights, especially on AR, AK series. I would look at the pictures and signs and think what a shame some nut killed innocent people. I see the Canada banned "military style weapons". Are shotguns allowed? A 12 ga shell will have between 8 to 15 pellets in it. That is alot of projectiles flying around whith 1 shot. I'm not complicit in any mass shooting I'm smarter than that knowing a gun didn't do anything it is a tool that was used for evil intentions. That is like saying pro abortion women are complicit in infant genocide. Kinda of stupid right only the person getting one is the guilty one. Yes, of course. We hunt.....a lot.

Yes - Abbot is blaming mental health problems. By the way, Texas spends less on mental health than all the other states. This is what the conservative party has become. A party of excuses and blame. If this is indeed the problem, what is the solution? They are the party of blame and no solutions. Yet again it is time for Independents, Dems, and sane Republicans to do the heavy lifting and start locking in some solutions. If and when sane Republicans return, we can do a bipartisan solution. For now, we need to solve what they refuse to. Humanity and better awaits.

You way way way underestimated the number of guns How Many Guns Are in the United States? The National Institute of Justice (NIJ) reported in a national survey that in 1994, 44 million people, approximately 35% of households, owned 192 million firearms, 65 million of which were handguns(25). Seventy-four percent of those individuals were reported to own more than one firearm(26). According to the ATF,* by the end of 1996 approximately 242 million firearms were available for sale to or were possessed by civilians in the United States(27). That total includes roughly 72 million handguns (mostly pistols, revolvers, and derringers), 76 million rifles, and 64 million shotguns(28). By 2000, the number of firearms had increased to approximately 259 million: 92 million handguns, 92 million rifles, and 75 million shotguns(29). By 2007, the number of firearms had increased to approximately 294 million: 106 million handguns, 105 million rifles, and 83 million shotguns(30)…. By … 2009, the estimated total number of firearms available to civilians in the United States had increased to approximately 310 million: 114 million handguns, 110 million rifles, and 86 million shotguns(36). Per capita, the civilian gun stock has roughly doubled since 1968, from one gun per every two persons to one gun per person… www.gunpolicy.org/firearms/citation/quotes/6676

People have always done evil things. Our nature is not going to change. What has changed is the ability of evil people to do damage to others. That has occurred as the lethality of our firepower has increased. Other Western countries have evil people. Yet they do not have more than 1 mass shooting a day. That is strictly an AMerican phenomenon. Ans as Swamp pointed out, we have more than 300 million guns in this country. As gun ownership increased, mass shootings increased. Go figure. Your solution is to do nothing and accept the status quo as normal. That's it. Funny how Conservatives seem to have this be the only thing they do not believe we cannot fix. They seem to be finding the time to pass a whole host of nonsensical laws. but yet this problem, which is getting worse, we can't do anything to solve. And as Swamp pointed out, we have more than doubled the number of guns in this country, yet we are less safe than we were before. Just more nonsense from you.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Slams 'Dumb White People' Over Texas Shooting MotiveThe ignorance is strong in people like MTG and others who believe Hispanic is a race. It is not a race, it is an ethnicity. There are Hispanics of all races.
