Nope, she goes to conservative church weekly but nothing else there. Makes a point not to talk to anyone at church lest they gossip about her.

She's an extreme introvert and has been still enacting covid precautions because she has no one to care for her if she gets sick. Her siblings are strong Democrats. I wouldn't have known any of that if not for hearing 3rd hand Obama drama amongst them.

I really think it comes down to the TV channels she's watching. She used to be a court reporter and even worked most of her tenure for a Democrat judge in IL and loved him.

The Cubans in Miami are a solid Republican voting bloc.  They think the Dems are nudging us toward old-style socialism/communism where the government will start seizing private property, etc. 

For the 2020 election, the Republicans pushed this narrative by showing a picture of Joe and Jill Biden with Castro.  The dates don't match up (Castro was nearly dead when the picture was supposedly taken) and the picture was not the Bidens but another older couple visiting with Castro. The man in the photo died in 2002.

Red Hatters?? that's incredibly disappointing 😞 I worked with a lady awhile back who was Queen Bee, or whatever the lead of chapters are called. I went to some gatherings, where I wore pink and lavender, since I'm still under 50yo. the gatherings were full of very strong and independent women. ugh.

The problem though is conservative policies that ignore abortion is used for far more important things than "birth control". Abortions happen all the time during a pregnancy, i.e. miscarriages, so it must be God's will then for them to happen. Yet conservatives want women to get sick and possibly die if a miscarriage is unable to resolve itself without medical intervention. That is cruel and not Christian IMO.

Open borders is a myth. Demand is high and we are not the only country swamped by immigrants. Trump will not solve the issue but fewer immigrants will come because of his policies.

I understand the immigrant issue and the traditional hate for social programs. What I think is shortsighted is ignoring that abortion care includes many mothers who want children. The country is not great in healthcare and will become worse under the incoming regime. Infant mortality and maternal mortality are already up from stupid anti-science abortion laws. That is anti great IMO. Make this country suck more should not be a slogan, but that's wher we appear to be.

Well to be clear I don’t know for sure which group said those things. She belonged to one Red Hat group and three bridge groups and her comments always started with ‘Well Joan says…’ and I wouldn’t know which group Joan was in - or Susan or Bev.

Attorneys General and the State Health Department in these states refuse to clarify these laws and when the procedures are legal. And if you think doctors are making these decisions, you are 100% wrong. The decisions on whether a hospital does or does not do it is entirely in the hands of hospital administrators and their attorneys.


As to employment: the unemployment rate where I live is 3%. Where are all the workers that are needed coming from if we have zero immigration?

There was plenty of proof of this first one being look how many people got penalized for not having ins. Took Trump to fix that. He also had the big apology tour. This is the grey area that Dr's and hospitals are making up. They are afraid to help. In reality they should be able to be sued for negligence. If we can get that passed it would go a long way for care.

Nobody is going to go to jail. Many of these states have made it difficult to sue for malpractice. Funny now she wants it to be easier. To sue you first have to prove that what needed to be done was actually legal. It will be fun to see that go through the court.

Obs are already have one of the highest malpractice premiums and chance of being sued in the country. Making it easier to be sued will just quicken their voting with their feet. OB residencies in some of these states have already seen their applications fall. People are already making decisions based on these laws.

Second open borders is not a myth the democrats love to have them pour in and to say that other countries are swamped by immigrants we are better than other countries the goal should be zero illegals. Obs are already have one of the highest malpractice premiums and chance of being sued in the country. Making it easier to be sued will just quicken their voting with their feet. OB residencies in some of these states have already seen their applications fall. People are already making decisions based on these laws.

Nice fantasy world you live in. Make the laws clear so the Hospital Counsel can tell them that it is legal, and they will do their job. The AG in Texas has made it clear that in any questionable case he will pursue prosecution. So waiting until you are now clearly in the legal zone for doing your job is the only rational response. 

It is not the physicians fault that legislators passed stupid laws without their input. People are suffering as a result. But the legislators 1) do not care, and 2) are so afraid of being primaried because of gerrymandering that they won't do their jobs. They passed the laws that caused this mess, not the physicians. They should clean it up.
