well, they have a neofascist government there, right now. but that is not really the trajectory for Italy, in the long term. they have universal healthcare, and treat lunch breaks like they are religion. you are allowed to travel home and have lunch with your family. in fact, it is encouraged. they have paid sick leave, mandatory. minimum wage is higher there than in the US. and there are tons of "other people" all over the place, living there and on vacation. if it weren't for their shitty government, it would still be way up my list. as it stands right now, they rank in the top 5 still, for absolute sure. terrific place for liberals. Going there next week !😎🍷 For how long? Are you going to report back on the wine and food?

Going there next week !😎🍷 For how long? Are you going to report back on the wine and food? YES! 16 days in Milan, Piedmonte, and Tuscany. I will report if you would like. We, and are traveling companions, are foodies/winos.

Went to Rome, Florence, and Venice a year ago. Food was absolutely amazing. Could eat that way for a long time. Took a cooking class in Florence because that was on my wife’s bucket list and had lunch and a wine tasting at an organic vineyard in Tuscany. Can’t wait yo go back

I don't give a damn about Taylor Swift or ANY OTHER celebrity. I could not recognize her voice or name a single one of her songs, and think the showing her in the suites at Chiefs games several times per game is VERY tiresome, but good for her for speaking up and speaking out. Combat the Trump lies, encourage everyone to do their own research and make up their own minds, and both REGISTER and VOTE. Good for her. If it helps bury Trump, all the better.

Can’t wait for Trump to go after her. That will win her fans over. Maybe conservatives can call for a boycott of her. That will sure hurt her ? Maybe she will be worth 1.1 billion instead of 1.5. Still richer than Trump

I agree with you about not knowing Swifts music - but she has an enormous number of fans, some of them rabid fans. If she suggests they should register to vote and then vote, it could have a significant impact. Plus, Trump will undoubtedly call Swift ‘nasty,’ and the one thing you never want to do is disparage Swift around a Swiftie. They will burn your house down.

So Elon Musk got a dig in about Taylor Swift.
He’s got his hopes up for a Trump cabinet position, doesn’t he.
He poked the bear. Curious to see the Swifties plan of attack.

And now Trump says Swift will ‘pay the price’ for not backing him.
What? Is he gonna lock her up? Expel her from the country?
Threatening a pop star - who ever thought a US presidental candidate would stoop so incredibly low.

She's a billionaire. I don't think Trump is going to be able to hurt her. What's he going to do, raise her taxes? Like Trump, she has rabid fans, so he should know "she could shoot someone on 5th avenue, and have nothing happen to her".

He said she'd probably pay a price in the marketplace. Implying that people would stop going to her concerts I guess. Yeah...I don't think so. This comment kind of cracked me up for some reason.

Threatening a pop star - who ever thought a US presidental candidate would stoop so incredibly low. She is of more value to the US than he is. Every single city where she holds a concert, she makes a generous donation to local foodbanks. And still, she is worth over a billion dollars. Where does Donald Trump donate to? And why does so much money from his "charities" end up in his own pocket? Maybe Trump should take a lesson or two from Swift, not that he ever learns anything...

She doesn't seem to be lacking fans. Hes concerts could sell out multiple times over. And she has the most valuable commodity in America, she makes other people money. She could take 500 million, put it in T Bills, and live a very comfortable life. Just don't see much pain in her future as a result of her endorsing Kamala.

Swift pays her staff including road crew quite well. And she probably pays, on time, her concert venue security too. Unlike trump.

Normally I think it's just bad business for an entertainer or business to endorse either side, as it alienates half their customer base. But he didn't really leave her any choice when he was promoting a fake AI image saying that she endorsed him.

Threatening a pop star - who ever thought a US presidental candidate would stoop so incredibly low. He probably thinks it will be like the Dixie Chicks. He's not taking into account that at the time Bush had a lot of support because of 9/11 when the Dixie Chicks disagreed with him. Also the Dixie Chicks are a country music band which tends to lean towards conservative fans. His rabid base aren't Swifties to begin with. He is also not taking into account that the number of people who rabidly support him are vastly outnumbered by the people who are Swifties. Pop music fans tend to lean more liberal. If they decide to band with Taylor Swift and actually head to the polls he's screwed. I hope they do. And I hope they all wear their band merch when voting. Granted Gwen herself is too young to vote but she listens to the hallway gossip. 18 year old girls are VERY excited to get out and vote for Kamala. She is energizing the young voting base like Clinton and Obama did.

maybe. but Swift has already done the calculation. she has enough dough, and she doesn't need Trumpsters in her fan base to succeed. so....yeah. buh bye, then.

But he didn't really leave her any choice when he was promoting a fake AI image saying that she endorsed him. i have made my opinion known on this subject on MANY occasions. entertainers are not just commodities for fan consumption. they are human beings, with feelings and opinions. i think the best example of this was Sinead O'Conner. was her stunt costly to her? yes. it was. did she regret it. no, she did not. when it comes down to it, for MOST musicians (the ones worth listening to), the music and the message are the most important thing, not the fan base. if the fan base leaves- that is fine. because they either don't appreciate, don't understand, or downright hate the art. that is fine. most artists would rather be hated than ignored, anyway.

The best analogy for Swift is Springsteen. He has backed Democrats openly for at least 2 decades. He has no problem selling as many tickets to his shows as he wants. I would argue that he has a more blue collar base than Swift does, and people who take issues with his politics. Hasn't hurt him 1 bit to back Democrats.
Swift, like Springsteen, has FU money. Gives you a lot of freedom

you might wonder WHY Sinead did not regret her stunt.
it is because she HATED her popularity. she likes playing small venues, where her art can be appreciated more fully, and it is less like a circus.
there are two OTHER artists that made this same move. Gotye was one of them. ever hear of him anymore? that is because he quit being a front man. he does sideman gigs now. he is much happier.
the other one is the TalkTalk guy- Mark Hollis. he is an incredible songwriter, but at the peak of their success, he took a turn into darker, moodier, and more intricate material. imo, it is his best work. those interested in the band should check it out (his most famous song is It's My Life, made more famous by Gwen Stefani). he completely alienated his fan base, but he had no regrets about it.
so, yeah. if i had her pedestal, i would be decrying Trump with the loudest voice i could offer the public. what she is doing is tame by comparison to what i would do.

At first I assumed he would give her one of his, since he seems to approach procreation like a sea cucumber does - spraying his DNA around in hopes an ovum is handy - so he can’t have much affection for his progeny. He publicly disowned one not that long ago. Then later I realized it might have a darker meaning. He probably thinks women would be so happy to get his high quality sperm they wouldn’t consider it rape.

I'm guessing it was in reference to Swift signing it - a childless cat lady?
