She is a Republican. I said many many times before I do not want any Democrats in office. I never used to be like this but with this Harris coup I have become more and more upset. I didn't want Trump to run and I said I would not vote for him and I won't. He is still better than Harris she has done nothing in the Senate nothing as VP except to follow a mindless pos around wiping his ass i have said this before, and i will say it again. i would vote for a disused bag of dog waste over Trump. i honestly don't care about the qualifications, experience, etc, so long as they promise to uphold the constitution and the rule of law. you find a candidate you like? i have voted 3rd party in every election since 1996. here is a list. you should write in one of these: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third-party_and_independent_candidates_for_the_2024_United_States_presidential_election

They step in when the president is incapacitated, sometimes temporarily (like when he’s undergoing surgery) and sometimes permanently (like when he’s assassinated). When Biden participated in the debate it was clear he was having issues- pretty much everyone admitted that. So the VP stepped in. True, no one did that during an election cycle before but then we never had such an old candidate before.. we do now! the oldest candidate to ever run!

The Arlington mess continues. First Trump said the cemetery worker did not get pushed. She did. Then he said he was just doing what the families wanted, so that made it ok. Nope, still illegal. The current spin he is trying is to blame it on Harris. She arranged it just to make him look bad. it's funny.... earlier he was saying the fact that Harris didn't show up made him look GOOD.

I remember teaching my son when he was about six that it’s better to confess and ask forgiveness than to keep trying to shift the blame. Too bad Trump had such shitty parents. So she is too incompetent to be president but she is more than capable of orchestrating a plot to make him look bad by convincing his entire publicity team and the family of certain veterans that using Arlington as a backdrop for one of his videos is an awesome idea AND managed to ensure every single one of them remained silent on the matter? Okey dokey. Thank God I don't understand the mental gymnastics going on there because then I'd be one of them. That is the problem with all these conspiracy theories. The number of people who need to be involved , and the level f competence assigned defies reality. Not to mention that conservatives believe that governmental employees are incompetent, but yet are capable of this mass coverup. Any rational person has to know how nuts t is.

Okay, so I am not in favor of birthright citizenship, and do not believe it should be the law of the land. The key for me is of course the phrase, "and subject to the jurisdiction thereof...." There was a narrow exception carved out for foreign diplomats and agents not subject to U.S. laws and for Indians on reservations subject to treaty rather than law. This is okay, but not sufficient. It should be remembered first that there was originally no such concept as an illegal alien. In fact, there was no restriction on immigration at all and one of the charges in the case for independence (if I remember correctly) was that the King was restricting people from emigrating to America. We WANTED to add people, and as many as we could. That is not the case today, and has not been in my lifetime. We have long had an immigration system and process to both limit the number of persons entering the country and control who they are and where they come from. We simply cannot afford to bring in as many as wish to come, and there is nothing inherently wrong with that. I don't pretend to know what the numbers should be, but the fact remains that there is a system in place and it is a violation of law to avoid that process. At any rate, there is no reason to think that because illegal aliens were not specifically named earlier that they should automatically be allowed to benefit. The concept did not exist. My primary objection to jus soli is to the idea that the children of illegal immigrants should be U.S. citizens simply because they were born on U.S. soil. This flies in the face of logic. By entering and remaining in the country illegally, the parents never subjected themselves to the jurisdiction of the United States. If they had, they would have been deported. Their entry into the country was a violation of law, and their mere existence in this country is a continuing violation of law. One of the basic tenets of jurisprudence is that one should not be allowed to profit from the committing of an illegal act. That is the entire raison d'etre for the existence of Son of Sam laws. Those were created to prevent David Berkowitz from potentially profiting by selling his story. Similarly, American citizenship is a huge benefit to someone from another country. Many people try for decades even after arriving and remaining here legally, working and supporting this country. Logic and justice dictate that nobody should be allowed to receive citizenship as the "profit" from an illegal act. I have far less of an issue (and can indeed see both sides) when referring to the children of those here legally. They subjected themselves to the process, and the law, and have supposedly done everything asked of them to earn their place here. I may prefer that citizenship follow the mother*, but would likely not argue for or against either side. That is certainly not the case for those in the country illegally, and that status alone is sufficient for me to reject the idea. * To clarify, I would suggest that the children of non-citizens in the country legally should be allowed legal residency as their parents have, but citizenship should not be conferred simply by virtue of being born here. Tallguy...WOW!!That was eloquent. If anybody disagrees with it they are idiots. That's spot on. You could argue it before the US Supreme Court. It is eloquent and logically consistent, however, it has no case cites nor any basis in law, it's solely opinion. So he could argue it to the Supreme Court and get completely shot down** **Shot down under a normal Supreme Court. These guys are just whacked.

I don’t think he would do that if this was a coup. Trump keeps calling it a coup because he wants to run against Biden, not Harris, but we have to think of the good of the country, not just what Trump wants. Further, the delegates had not voted yet. Biden was free to release his delegates and ask that they support Harris If this had happened after the convention, it would be a little murky. I think it would still be OK, but I'm not an election law scholar. But since this happened prior to the convention, there is no issue with it. It's not a coup.

I swear they need to add "Conspiracy Theorist" to the DSM. My ex-MIL falls for everything and swears the government is covering up the cure for cancer. WTH? I ask her, "Do you know how filthy rich someone would be with that info? How would that ever be kept quiet?"

Biden dropping out WAS sudden. it was not violent, it was not unlawful and it was not a seizure of power from a government. let's contrast this to January 6th. it was sudden, violent, and an unlawful (attempted) seizure of power from government, was it not?

(Just to note that I did not say it should go to the Supreme Court. And I doubt I would waste my time with THIS Court even if invited. Half of them shouldn't be there.) One of the things I have gotten quite a bit in my life is along the lines of, "I may disagree with your opinion, but it is certainly well thought-out and well-expressed." That's good enough. I have convinced more than a few people in my life on various topics, but will never convince everybody of everything. Too bad though, because we'd be better off.

i want to address this issue of "disenfranchising primary voters".
first of all, primaries are not a necessary or required part of our political system. it is a fairly recent artifice. and i think there is a case to be made for it being not the best way to choose candidates. after all, this system gave us Trump.
the delegate system is also an artifice. but it is closer to the republican ideal than primaries. if you believe in the idea of a republic (which, theoretically, Republicans do), then this way of choosing candidates should be very appealing.
if the delegates THREW OUT Biden and selected Harris, that would be perfectly consistent with Republican politics, and perfectly legal. the electorate could then REJECT the Party by writing in Biden. that would be their prerogative.
in conclusion, what happened on the Democratic side is far closer to what and why we have a republic than what typically happens in an election.

In addition, if the members of the Democratic party disagree with this decision, they have a mechanism to express it. They can stay home, not vote for president and only in down ballot races, or vote the the other party's candidate. It isn't the Democrats fault that Republicans have nominated the most horrific candidate in the history of our nation. Unlike the results of a real coup, where there is no mechanism to express your opinion but protest.
Given the fact that Democratic voters seem to be happy with the result, calling it a coup is just pain idiotic.

Against Harris it's apparent for all but the most deluded to see that in reality he's your demented conspiracy driven Uncle that your parents force you to invite to Thanksgiving every year. The only explanation is they did it on purpose so Trump wouldn't be able to ride into the oval office on a cloud of popular votes. It's a coup because now he may actually have to compete. He can't run on old age, he can't trot out a list of women her husband has sexually harassed. He's pissing people off this time calling her race and citizenship into question so it's not working like it did with Obama. He may actually have to ... gasp! Have a platform! That's not fair!

I'm not a veteran nor do I have any family buried in Arlington but even I'm pissed at this photo. None of those soldiers or their families consented for those tombstones in the background to be in those photos. Shame on Trump and shame on those families for using their dead relatives for their own 15 minutes of fame.

And another: I made my first trip to Washington back in April, and made a point to take a day to walk through Arlington. It is a place of sober reflection and reverence. Any person with any sense of history, respect, and decency would have been appalled to see this. While I generally prefer to leave others to their own affairs, I have to believe I would have had to say something to these disgusting f***s.

Trump shouldn't have done this at all, but the thumbs up is tasteless but I bet it is part of the 2024 campaign. I wonder how much that woman(or her family) donated to Trump for this photo op. Trump just does rote marketing at this point. It doesn't even occur to him that the thumbs up is not appropriate and maybe a large smile sends the wrong message especially since another gravestone is in the pic easily seen plus all the rest in the background.

How is it a coup? Biden voluntarily said he was pulling out. He had yet to be officially nominated. I think scgal has been drinking Trump' KoolAide. If Trump says something it is likely a lie. All the people following RW media, i.e. that crap that is called entertainment for legal reasons on FOX are less and less informed on reality as time goes on. They are fed a steady diet of lies and marketing and are basically programmed useful idiots like Putin's citizens. Someone needs to update that political knowledge test for the week's stories or even current monthly ones. I think a serious scale of how wrong some people are needs to be developed.

She is a Republican. I said many many times before I do not want any Democrats in office. I never used to be like this but with this Harris coup I have become more and more upset. I didn't want Trump to run and I said I would not vote for him and I won't. He is still better than Harris she has done nothing in the Senate nothing as VP except to follow a mindless pos around wiping his ass I think those like Marge are really sideshows collecting a very good paycheck using the Trump umbrella. She is as Republican as Trump is, which is not at all. The fact that you think there was a Harris coup ... That is a RW marketing message, it is not reality. I understand sometimes people not wanting the other party in office, but usually its based on real actual information. Real events, real policies. Not made-up talking points and the marketing message of the day from Trumpland.

Were they here legally or illegally? Not that it matters for her citizenship status - but if they were here legally, then all those people who whine that immigration is fine - as long as it is legal…should be cool. It takes a long time to get through the system, and often you are here working on a visa or green card or whatever while you are going through the process. They were here three to four years before she was born. Not my image of an "anchor" baby as their intention to be here was not based on having kids but following their various paths of work. It may not be your image, but it's still an image many do hold. hell, *I've* been called an anchor baby bc father still carries a green card after moving here in the early 60s.
