Right now I'm fretting about my eyesight. It's worsened to the point that even with 2.50 readers I cannot quite make out the numbers on a spreadsheet in 10 point font but have to enlarge the view. I do have an appointment with an optometrist on Tuesday. I can't say that seeing far is very much better.

I went from needing no glasses before that to (seemingly) blind. I don't even know what my script is now, but I don't think 2.5 readers would be enough. When I was at the eye doctor a few weeks ago they also said I was starting to get cataracts in one eye! WTF?!? That seems really early.

I didn't get up till 11. Fed DD, she didn't want what hubs was having.
I'm sitting in the living room, doing nothing. I have Tigger on my legs and Smoke sprawled out on the back of my recliner. Just finished a cup of vanilla coffee, may make another. Also ate an apple, golden delicious are so good when ripe. I pick out the yellow ones at the grocer. I bought a 5 pound bad for either $3.99 or $4.99, not sure which. They are different sizes so likely less than perfect fruit, doesn't effect the taste though.
I was filing my nails and Tig was practically upside down trying to see what the noise was, then grabbed my file. I get a kick out of them, how they will grab stuff I have but not put their claws out. 99% of the time they are gentle with me. But then I am with them too.
I just saw on the weather it's sleeting out, haven't really checked. It's just gray out again today.
Hubs just started in the basement again, I assume he is putting up the rest of the drywall on that end. Don't know if he will put up the door today. He works so neat most of the time. He likes working down there, not to cold nor hot, can watch his news programs and has a couch or recliner to sit in.
I need to hang up a load of dry clothes and make up our bed.
Asked again about dinner, looks like t bones. DD used to not like steak at all, now she really likes it, so that was her vote, we go along if its something we all like anyway. Sadly, I could curl up and take a nap.

Son has a cataract in one eye, he is 53, but he has a big problem with that eye, something wrong with it. I have a lot of them they tell me but not very big. Going to be checked this spring. I thought my eyes had changed a ton. Got to looking at my glasses and they were bent out of shape. Had them straightened and now thinking I don't even need new glasses.

It was a lazy eye as a child and only has about 20/100 vision or something like that, so I really don't use it much anyhow. She said I wouldn't have to worry about it for probably another 10-20 years down the road. She did seem surprised to see it in a 54 year old though. Asked me if I spent a lot of time out in the sun without sunglasses.

I needed to haul out the readers a couple of years ago. I was 45. Otherwise, vision is OK. I should probably go see a dr. though, eventually.

So, I'm 62. I think that's really too young for cataracts. I've been wearing readers for over 15 years now.
About 20 years ago I was traveling for work and couldn't focus in the distance at all once I got off the plane. I went to an optometrist who told me that my problem was a function of poor near sight. I was working so hard to see close that I could no longer focus far. Weird. He wrote a script and I wore glasses for a couple of years then.
I do work all the time on screen, on my laptop.

I'm irritated. I threw the pups in the car to go for a drive to the shop where I get their basic treats, and found it closed. Google shows their hours were changed about a week ago. so that was a wasted trip that kept me out of the house til it was already 7-0 Bills. I missed all the pre-game stuff for Damar. going to have to find it all later.

I think I was 44 or 45 the first time I went to the optometrist. She found my distance vision was going a little bit, but mostly the close up. I opted for progressive lenses right out of the gate because I'd rather have glasses I wear all the time than to be constantly hunting for a pair for just reading (or worse, wearing them on the granny chain around my neck) Now, 10 years later, distance is bad as well as close up, but I've found if I don't wear my glasses for a while it gets better. I think once you start wearing them all the time your lenses harden up faster and can't focus as easily because they don't need to work anymore, but I can't really ditch them at all anymore unless it's doing something like just working outside. I couldn't even figure out how to get the snowblower plugged in yesterday without them. I had to feel for the prongs to figure out which way the plug went in.

I was hoping for it to stabilize, so I could get surgery.

Then feel for the outlet . . .

About to head to the Home Depot. In the rain. Because we need new mounting bolts to replace the ceiling fan. I absolutely hate, Hate, HATE doing any projects in this house!!! The previous owners were diy-ers, and they apparently took lots of shortcuts. Every single time we try to fix something it requires more time and parts because it was not done right to begin with. Ugh.

My dear old helpful husband just helped me again. I told him I had old grease to throw out. I have fried fish in it twice and it needs to go. So he got the kettle off the freezer and came in and said I just threw that grease out.
I said you threw out what was in that pot? yep. Well, it wasn't the grease it was the ham broth. I had cooked and strained and put on the freezer for the grease on top to cool and harden so I could throw it away, with a lid on top. His response, how was I to know? Hum, one hint was I do not fry fish in a kettle and he always knows it is the little deep fryer on the sink. He goes well there is a pot of beans I won't have to eat. He used to tell me all the time I could live on beans and fried potatoes. Yeah right.
I think that is what has happened to me, it seems what I cook anymore is not what he wants or seldom says its good, so I have gotten so tired of trying to make him a good meal I just don't care. I'm not that hungry anyway and DD and I could just happily graze, so it's getting more difficult.
The last 2 nights I have thrown scraps out and no coons or skunks have been up to eat them. Hubs thought he was being funny and told DD. Your mom's cooking has gotten so bad the wildlife won't even eat it. I laughed to, but really dude? That could have been a fatal mistake.

I went down and helped hubs. He was cutting out a doorway and I held the sweeper hose behind and above it to keep all that from flying all over the basement. That would have been a horrible mess everywhere. Then I swept up the worst of it down there and swept down the stairs. Some of his tools have dust collectors, but not a router used on a wall like that.
I am sorting papers and dusting stuff too. I want to dust on the tops of all the desks and storage cabinets in here. Requires a ladder.
I found my info, looks like I took Signa insurance this year. I have a $500 deductible to meet, then will see if it's better. I'm set for Ozempic for at least 5 months. I'm like hubs he got several for months ahead too, so we are good for some of them at least. I don't know what Premarin and Nexlizet will cost yet or the thyroid drug. We got a list when signing up, but seems like it's always more, here's hoping.

Monday morning for me. First day back at work after a wonderful break with the girls down here. I figured I would rip the bandaid off and go into the office. No point in dithering at home “working”, I would feel sorry for myself and work would be twice as painful.

not surprised at the statistics regarding experience of abuse. My XH was abusive, increasingly so over the years. One of the milder things he did early in our marriage was to not talk to me for an entire month. He just didn't respond to me at all, nor say anything himself. When he did start talking again he never explained it. I'm still reeling from the raw cruelty he showed. Why I stayed, I could not say, now that I'm older.I'm
I'm sure emotional abuse and physical abuse are twinned. So many people lack the ability to truly connect with another person or even manage their own emotions. Abuse is a resulting default.
My ex did the same thing. He wouln't talk to me for weeks, or even acknowledge my existence. It's like I wasn't even there.

Jerseyguy finally homeYAY But having frustrations about the lines going to oxygen concentrator and himself. Connecting the 2 hoses is a little straight plastic tube and super hard to get off old hose to put into new. Poured boiling water to soften - burnt my fingers. Used knife to cut off - cut my finger. Swearing helped minimally. Finally got it done. My BP must be up but sitting here typing helps. i'n glad he's home.

The previous owners were diy-ers, and they apparently took lots of shortcuts. Every single time we try to fix something it requires more time and parts because it was not done right to begin with. Ugh. My other house was built in the early 60’s. The original owner took great care of it. They sold it to a young single man, he lived there 5 years, then sold it to me. A lot of things that should’ve been simple, were not, because of the age of the house. Replacing my kitchen faucet, as soon as he touched the pipes under the sink, they crumbled. Replacing the faucet in a bathroom, water ran everywhere because it turned out that the cut off valve didn’t work. When the 23yo water heater failed and was running a river of water down the hall that had the original wood floors, that cut off valve didn’t work either. I had to call the utility company to come shut the water off to the house. Fortunately they came in like 15 minutes. I had the plumber just replace all the cutoff valves in the house after that. Replacing the shower head, the arm coming out the wall had a ball on the end of it, which doesn’t work with modern shower heads. I had to call a plumber to change the arm just so I could have a new shower head. Replacing ceiling fans, replacing the microwave over the stove with a range hood, blah blah blah, all of it was more complicated than expected because the house was so old, and so many things had changed since that stuff had been put in. I think I would’ve been more aggravated, like you are, if it had been because of a previous owner’s diy mistakes rather than just the age of the house.

Just finished my work map project! Looks pretty good! I’ll take it into work tomorrow and put it up.
DD2 is napping but will be getting up in about 30 minutes.
DD1 is at a friend’s house. The mom was good being open-ended with when to pick her up. Not sure when yet to pick her up. Since it’s a school night, it can’t be too late.

People's expectations can be wacky sometimes. Since getting elected to our community association group, I've received several FB friend requests from residents I know by name but have never met IRL. I'm one of those folks who has a limited number of friends on my page and I actually know and like these people. I decided not to accept these new friend requests and darned if I didn't get a nasty email from one person and a voicemail from another, all huffy, saying I HAD to accept their requests because I was "a public servant". Uh, no, no I'm not and no I don't. They be some special kind of stupid

This old house of ours is the same way. There are no simple fixes because everything has to be completely redone to fix one small thing. Our range hood can't really vent, it just has a little charcoal filter the air runs through, because the water pipes to the kitchen sink run directly over the stove and you can't cut into the ceiling there.

I made a dent in the book this morning, but sort of hit the wall on one chapter. Ironically, one aspect of his early childhood 100% matches mine and I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I'll start again tomorrow
