Going to a Judy Collins concert at our small town historic theater. shit. this is how overloaded my brain is with music trivia. i now have "Both Sides Now" firmly stuck in my head after a couple weeks of showtunes, just from seeing her name. so, thanks? 🤷♀️ she's playing here soon, too, or just did. enjoy! We saw her in concert several years ago at Mt Baker Theatre. Covid aside, the theatre’s offerings since then have not been very interesting for us.

I understand why she wouldn't want to go with the manufactured home. The $700/mo. is in addition to whatever the manufactured home costs. I've read of various manufactured home parks being bought out by speculators who raise the lot rents by major amounts. I wouldn't want to be in the situation of having to move that home quickly or put up with a major increase in lot rent. Some doubled or tripled.
I think she can find a one level home in the near future. Waiting until the real estate market settles more is probably a good idea.
That is why hubs won't do it. He said try to move a $200k home that is 20 years old or even 15 to another park. The costs would be a lot plus I doubt they would accept it. I have looked all over trying to find one somewhere on its own land, seems like half the places up there flood. Hubs said imagine spending that kind of money plus more and then have it ruined. If he could buy the land under it likely not an issue. I finally found one but $550k, sorry no way would we do that.
We aren't making the rentals perfect, but we want them to pass inspections and not have to take off a ton more money to sell them. And just like the upcoming house, to sell as is would be nothing fixed, really bad looking flooring. It needs painted inside also and a shed sided. It would knock $20 to $30k off it I would bet. It will just cost us for materials and his time which he has plenty of and I can do the cleaning. Besides it will be a last hurrah on fixing them this time, which I like.
Prices are coming down up there, we intend to make a decision by year end. Crossing my fingers the perfect place shows up for the right price.
We will either drive or fly up this summer for his birthday, he is ready to come down to visit. And DD and I will likely fly up ourselves again. The flights are pretty cheap if it's not a holiday. Neither one of us wants to imperil our retirement either.

One more sea day and we hit LA. Apparently the USBP is demanding the ship be empty before they allow anyone else on board, so we will have to get up at the buttcrack of dawn and go through immigration with the other 850 passengers before they let us back on board. About 500 are getting off, another 550 are boarding and we will be with this group until London.
We have nothing planned for LA formally. We are meeting a friend for brunch in Long Beach, and she is bringing a couple of packages that TD ordered from Amazon of things he forgot. We need to be back early evening as there is a huge party on board to dedicate the Viking Neptune. Sounds like it might be fun to attend.
When we leave LA, the next stop is Santa Barbara, where we are having lunch with another friend. After that, a bunch of sea days until we hit Hawaii.

DD is mad at me. I told her a few weeks ago if she has an accident she will strip her bed and wash the bedding. She says I'm mean, I know she is lazy. Hate to admit it but true.
So amazingly it's only happened once since. Today they were damp, and I made her strip them. When we get back she will wash them. Our w/d is easy to use but it's been a long time since she has used it. It will take a few times for her to learn, especially, since she doesn't want to do it, LOL!
I have protection all over this mattress and we only bought it 2 years ago. It's going to have to be replaced, I need to do that next week. I cannot stand stained mattresses. Need to find better waterproof mattress padding.

I must have dreamed about cookies or something. There will be chocolate chip cookies in my future today. Butter is sitting out to soften. Also lots of laundry. That's on the docket for tomorrow night here. Carrot has to do his science fair project and he chose different types of cookie sheets effect on cookie baking. Otherwise, I almost never bake. Carrot is the only one in this house that could get away with eating that stuff regularly.

I have an old old house built in the 1800's. It's wonderful and sturdy. It also has really steep stairs. When DH got hurt a few years ago, the stairs really created problems. I wish we could move. Eventually, we are going to need to.

Tried pur-eh tea this morning. Not sure I like it but not sure I disliked it.
It tastes all right but smells like wet dirt.
It's not one I want to drink multiple cups of in a sitting.

Those are the back stairs would have been for the servants making beds and that sort of thing. The main one is the one I would use. That tells me it's a true old house. The servants were not to be seen as much as possible, goes from the kitchen area. Did you see the magnificent cook stove? I wonder if that stays, hubs said likely not. But that town does flood, so that would be an issue. He doesn't want to pay much and thinks he can find something to remodel, however, all I've seen with low prices to remodel appear to be flood houses. I saw a beautiful manufactured home today but it was another with a lot lease of $700 a month, not going there. The price wasn't bad at all though. None of those seem to be on a lot you can buy or if you can it's in a terrible area. So much like Houston with no zoning that's what you get, houses next to businesses, I'm not sure why it's like that but that is why there are so many HOA's. CG - I love you, you remind me of my stubborn godmother/aunt who will turn 80 this year. I think we would get along well in real life. So please slow down and hear me saying this in a loving tone...Buy this one! Yes, it's $700/month but I've seen your numbers and you can afford it and this is coming from a risk averse/saver personality just like yourself. Get yourself up to WA as soon as you can. Your relationship with son and DIL is good, let it continue to flourish. And think of the payment as what it takes to pour your love, wisdom, and heck, even your work ethic into grandson particularly while he's still young enough to mold. Not many of those years left. Plus, it puts DD closer to the 3 of them and it's clear they love her and will help you make her life wonderful. And, it sets them up to help care for her as you continue to age. This will ease your mind about her immensely and that itself is worth the money. As for DH, we all know he will need a project, so turn him loose to work on son's handyman list. He can take a huge weight off son getting it done, save him a ton of money, and likely share skills with son and grandson - win, win, WIN. Plus when DH finally slows down, you're not left stuck living in a project house that is only partially finished. And sell, sell, sell the rentals. Don't keep trying to update them to perfection - that's a grand gesture but not necessary and is delaying your family time. You also don't need to wait for top dollar or the rental folks you're fond of to land in perfect spots. You've provided great homes and security for them for years. The rentals have served their purpose - you accumulated wealth from them. It's time to move on. I know change is scary as will not having the running income coming in, but it's time. You need to move into the spend down phase of your retirement. Your whole family (you, DH, DD, DS, DGS) deserve it. If you were to poll YM, I bet you'd get almost 100% YES vote on this one. And you know we almost never get our shit together to be unanimous especially about spending money, so please take that into consideration of how much we all think this move would work out entirely in your favor both personally and financially. The thing I've found about aging, is that I really need to get into a place on the first floor. Not only is that hard to find, on my budget, I'm at a point where it would be nearly impossible for me to do it (even the easy stuff), myself. And I don't have the money to hire it done. I didn't realize how quickly going up and down 3 flights of stairs was going to impact me, in a negative way. Funny, how we want and pretend we're okay/independent, then suddenly, we're stuck.

Contemplating getting dressed and doing a few errands. I have nothing earth-shattering that needs to be done except gas in my car but that can be done tomorrow when I go get my paper. Maybe I'll just stay beached on the couch and read. I need to stay out of stores and luckily i don't like online shopping so I save money there. Decisions, decisions.

I finally remembered something useful I could do during this period of hibernation: I have the old family photos that were in Dad's storage unit when we quietly cleared it out. Poor Dad thought he'd be going back to his Independent Living unit from LTC but he'd had a serious stroke. When I accidentally mentioned that I was taking them home with me he was concerned but I told him it was to protect them from fluctuating temperatures in the storage unit- a valid concern.
I'm pitching a lot of photos of scenery and of Mom and Dad with people we don't know. I'm slowed down a bit having to annotate photos with notes on the back in Mom's beautiful handwriting but grateful she took the time. One was a picture of my grandfather before I was born, sitting in his office at the steel company with the blast furnace visible outside his window. Grandpa loved blast furnaces- would seek them out on road trips and take pictures.
So, please- take lots of pictures with people in them and document, document, document! Will be sharing a few on FaceBook.

We moved to the house we chose in large part because it is one story. After DH's surgeries it was very clear that stairs could not be in our future. There are stairs here down to the basement which I negotiate maybe a couple of times a week.

Oh, look, I'm working again. That will be me either when DD2 naps today and/or tomorrow. I put DD2 down for a nap, but I hear her making noise but she should fall asleep soon. My “work” today is a craft project for my day job. I have a US map in my office that I’ll use to flag all of our locations on it. I’m putting 2 foam poster boards behind it so that the pins I got can stick in it. I also got a picture frame holder for it. We’ll see if it works.

k, someone reminded me that two weeks from today, we'll be flying to FL for the big cruise. that snuck up on me... I just called and booked a hair appointment for next Friday afternoon, my head is a little too sparkly again. I'll also need to find some time to go get my nails done again closer to go time. I've been setting aside things to pack, but I think I need to figure out once and for all which bag I'm using this time. there's 3 of us in the cabin for the first time in awhile, but I need to save space in my luggage for a bulky bomber jacket that is my milestone swag gift on the boat. I should probably also try on my shorts to make sure they still fit. I'm a little puffy rn, and that will be shark week. fun.

Stupid question, I want to get my eyebrow pierced before I turn 50. That only gives me a couple of months. I just don't know where to go. Claire's or to a tattoo shop? Does it make any difference whatsoever?

Yes, they're reports I create for them to present to the customers. Every month I rename the previous month and add the new data, so I depend on the prior month being left alone. Some of the engineers are good and make their own personal copies if they're going to eff with it...some just don't get it.

FWIW, I’m still thinking of getting my ear cartilage pierced and I plan to go to a tattoo shop. I’ve gotten my ears pierced at Claire’s. Tagging NomoreDramaQ1015 because I think she’d probably have an opinion. I thought she had an eyebrow piercing.

Well, I did good at the grocery. I did add 3 items, of meat, I don't have though. Bought 2 t bone steaks, a roast, and a ham. Save A Lot will still cut meat, so they cut a bunch of ham steaks, and split the shank for a couple pots of bean soup. It was on sale for $.99 a pound so good buy, it's like 10 pounds, the rest didn't look that great, pretty picked over, this one did though but was bigger than I would generally buy. I only spent $102 for groceries. 5 pounds of apples $4.99, onions, oranges, bread, potatoes, I will divide the hamburger buns and hot dog buns, hubs loves having those and freeze them. 18 eggs, ouch $7.99, milk, $4.49, chips, 2 candy bars, and peanut butter bits for DD our treats, lettuce, cucumber. At Walmart bought hubs yogurt he likes, cottage cheese, bananas, and some hot dogs. One can of baked beans to make some with and a can of red beans for chili. So I think that stocked up and added to what we already have. I generally order cleaning supplies so needed none, with what I got from the rent house shouldn't need any for a long time.
Ok, need to seal the meat in packages, good deal when ham steaks are now almost $8 each.
So now what will I have for dinner, LOL! Always the same question no matter how full the fridge is.

I'm pretty sure you can lock cells, or even the whole worksheet. past that, I've had good luck in limiting the shared network drive to "read only" unless you actively needed write access. people could grab copies of things without messing with the originals. this was in the days before my control system configuration files were under electronic records lock and key. maybe ask your IT group if they can lock out write access? if any of the engineers wants to mess with things, they can create a local copy and have a party with it all.

you did pretty well, cg! I dropped $70 this morning on a family pack of 80/20 ground beef for the pups, ~2lb of pork chops for me, a couple HBA things I haven't been finding anywhere else, and a huge cart full of produce for all of us. dinner tonight for me is leftovers - chicken piccata over mashed potatoes, I may roast a fresh veg. idk yet. not sure if that helps you much.
