I hear you! We're forecast for 18 Friday morning and we are not built for that at all. We've done what we could and now we'll see what happens I'm along the same interstate corridor as you, but much further to the east. As of the news we watched this morning, we are forecasted for 18 on Saturday morning. The other issue is, we are in the low 20's the day before and the day after that. It will be sustained cold. I'll keep an eye on the forecast. I guess the only saving grace at the moment is we do get highs above freezing every day. I mean, 35 is just barely above freezing but it's something. The other problem I am having with the weather is the rain. Over the weekend they said it will rain tomorrow. Then this morning, they were all like oh, rain will start today after lunch with scattered showers and move in by the evening commute. Well, I did grocery shopping today so I wouldn't have to get rained on tomorrow. And the rain did hold off until we were back home and inside putting the last of the groceries away. But, I still have to cover at least one of my outdoor faucets. I can't do it in the rain and wrap it in wet insulation. So now I have that chore left undone and hanging over my head until the rain breaks. This weather is getting on my last nerve! I did groceries yesterday because today was forecast for rain and it did start at noon with a drizzle and move on to heavy showers through the afternoon. Our current game plan is to cover the last outdoor faucet tomorrow afternoon and I'll wrap the one fern we want to save, and make an absolute last minute grocery/alcohol run Wednesday.

We are all packed up. TD is putting snow tires on my car for the drive to SEA tomorrow. Just need to charge up electronics, and put last minute toiletries away. May you travel safely and with great joy - we all benefit from your journeys

Oh my, there is a lot to read about Adult Day Care here, I’m going to wait until tomorrow morning to read all that, because my brain is pretty much done for tonight.
But I am relieved that if that’s something that will work for Mister’s Dad, we have an option. Even if we have to pay for it. And I say that without having any kind of idea how much it costs, so that includes “if we can afford it”.
I would rather do something like that if possible, than have someone in my house 9 hours/day to be with him.

We have geothermal and its wonderfully warm. The people that had this one put in said they put in double the amount of loop underground. Maybe that's why it works so well. I put it was 14 years old, not right it is 19 years old. The loop is supposed to last at least 30 years or more. The inside furnace part who knows. We had it worked on twice in the 10 years we have been here.
The fan runs a lot but it keeps it nice and even, not up and down like a normal furnace. I really like it. And its' very clean, much cleaner than gas and especially cleaner than oil heat.
Hubs has a guy here that is distant relation of his that works for a car dealership, he said he is going to have him keep an eye out for a decent vehicle. Something she can hopefully get 30,000 miles out of which will allow her to save for her next one if she will do it. This will be a one time thing for sure. I hope she takes advantage of it.
He also said we will do it after we are back so she doesn't spend the Xmas holiday running around and thinking that is what she is going to do all the time. We will give a leg up, it's up to her what she does after that.

taz157, I'd go with something like 25% increase for job 1. It seems fair after 6 years. In the future you can raise your rates annually until you catch up. It sounds like you just haven't bothered as you were unsure the work would continue. Since it has you are in a different position now. I do quite a bit of freelance work and reset my rates annually, typically in January. I do give a better price per unit of time for those who hire me for larger projects.

I spoke with the primary person I prepare work for at Job #1 and she agreed with me. She just needs to discuss it with others. Job #2 always increased my fee $5 per hour every year. He just really liked me and knew I did good work. FWIW, he’s offered me a full time job more than once since I left. I never took him up on it. I like doing it as a side job instead of a full time job. 🤷♀️

Pink Cashmere , I'd be calling that doctor & telling him what is printed on the warning. Don't use your "outside" voice though, say it and then ask if he/she should be considering a different medication. (Then, if that's his primary doctor, maybe it's time to find him a new doctor...) Health care sucks in this country right now, and everyone needs an advocate. I think it’s probably better to just not have Mister’s Dad take anything for anxiety. Mister has BEEN disgruntled with this Doctor and probably does not trust him at all at this point. I told Mister this evening, after the medicine mess, that it seems like it might be hard to change Primary Care Doctors in the middle of everything his Mom and Dad have going on. I am sure Mister would be relieved to have another Doctor that he believes is more capable, handling his parents’ medical care, but it seems like this is a very bad time to try to find another PCP, in the middle of all these issues. Am I wrong? Maybe it’s not as difficult as I’m thinking it would be? Maybe. But how hard will it get if you don't change doctors? Both parents are in precarious states of health. This doctor doesn't seem up on what kind of care to take of either patient. What if Mister's mother had gone home? Or his father had taken that medication?

I am a bit overwhelmed trying to find a PCP for myself. The one I’d been going to for over 20 years retired at the end of last year. And the lady I’ve been seeing since, in the same practice, I’m not all that impressed with. I can’t imagine trying to find another PCP, and getting to know them enough to decide whether they are a good fit, while letting them get to know me…….. in the middle of me having stuff going on serious enough that I’ve been in the hospital for months, or I was recently released from the hospital because of a blood clot in my lungs and congestive heart failure. I’m not saying it can’t or shouldn’t happen, I’m just saying it seems to me that it would be problematic and very complicated.

Pink - also realize that moving an elderly and recently sick person causes them to be confused. Even if they DON'T have dementia. Maybe put the dishes out where he can find them that you want him to use. Write down and set out his lunch, etc. Worked for my elder person.

SMF is right...put out the stuff you want him to use. Write things down. Hang up a calendar so he knows what day it is. Cross off the days as they go by.

I bought a container of what I thought was cut-up cantaloupe. I eagerly opened it, only to find it's some kind of cut-up squash. The label just says courgette, so no idea what kind. I didn't have my reading glasses with me to check what I was buying. I've never cooked squash, ever. My BFF serves it at Thanksgiving, and it's usually watery and completely tasteless. Feh! I didn't know what to do with this unfortunate purchase. So, I boiled it, and added S&P. No good. It needed something. I added a bit of brown sugar, a generous helping of butter, and some cinnamon. Now it's edible.

I was disappointed when I looked it up and it was just a lowly summer squash. I don’t like cooked zucchini unless it’s in a stir fry or something where it can take on the flavor of seasonings. Enough butter, brown sugar and cinnamon can probably make many things much more palatable.

All zuccihni are squash, but not all squash is zucchini. This was orange and looked just like canteloupe. This is also a courgette.

I want a Soda-Stream for Christmas. I can't ask DS for one. Usually, he buys whatever I want, from ipads to really expensive cookware. This year, he has to pay $10,000 in back taxes from 2021. I told him not to get me anythig.
Does anyone have one? Do you like it? Pros and cons?

A Croque-Monsieur is just a ham and cheese sandwich. Everything sounds fancy in French.

I gave it to my niece, who loved it. A matter of taste, I guess.

Good morning, industrious and wise invisipeeps, willing the world to keep moving. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope your day offers solutions for every issue and joy hidden in the corners of your world. Today I swear I'll do All.The.Things that need doing, getting ready for the holidays. Yesterday I spent preparing then publishing! my young children's counting book. It's in review for another day or two but then it will be available properly printed and bound. It's not an ebook in its final form, because it's really for young children with an adult to read with them at least at first. I'm excited. Also yesterday our passports arrived, and some mandarin oranges that had been sent from Georgia 10 days ago then inexplicably took off for Nebraska once they rearched Providence, RI. One was moldy when they got here but the rest were fine, and the pecans were in good shape. The company is sending new mandarins. Plus I researched and found pet-friendly hotels for DS on his trek from New York by way of Columbus then Topeka to Denver. I had him stopping in Kansas City at first but he wanted to get further, so Topeka it is. He's rented a UHaul. I so hope his trip is problem-free. I sent him on the more southern route rather than via Pittsburgh and Iowa. Fot those of you in Indiana, Missouri and Kansas areas, how much snow is he likely to be navigating? So, today: wrap presents, write cards, mail, decorate tree, make cranberry nut bread and cookies, do laundry, clean bathroom. Tomorrow to DSis's to drop off roasting pan, scallop shells I collected at the beach, cookies and bread, wines, and make meringue mushrooms for the buche de noel on Sunday. Later in the week I'll make pecan pie, cheesecake, dough for rolls, mashed potatoes and creamed onions. First thing today is a trip to the beach. #Lifeonvacation is full.

I know it's absurdly difficult, Pink Cashmere . Mister's parents ideally would have a geriatrician or at least a skilled internist/family medicine doctor or nurse practitioner who cared for them. People go on for many years with barely adequate medical care. Problems are only clarified by a crisis. It should not be this way. I wish I could help. Sending you strength and wisdom and all the hugs.

Kicking myself for not going to 5 Below on Saturday, while DH was working. Could not go last night or tonight, as DH needed to drop his truck off for an oil change last night and we will have to pick it up tonight. Garage is near home, not town. I am off the rest of the week, but he is off Wednesday too and Thursday is calling for another wintry mix day.
So much to do, so little time!

The high on Thursday is supposed to be 0 so we're expecting school to be canceled. No snow in the forecast so I will need to water the lawn once it warms up.
We have lights on the tree but no decorations. They'll want to keep it up longer because it's going up so late. But dh brought the tree home 12/3. Its ridiculous. Shopping is about done, except for my parents. We're slow at work so I'll try to sneak some wrapping in today and tomorrow. Planning on more cookie baking tonight with my mom.

Sitting around drinking coffee. Local morning news is on. Side eyeing the meteorologist every time he puts the 7 day forecast on. Sent DH the list of stuff he needs to bring home today. Will get moving here shortly. Signed the kiddo up for an art class/art activity. It's a make and take gift. Should be couple hours of fun for her.

Sitting in SEA while TD went on the hunt for coffee. It was 15 deg and snowing hard, with about 5” on the ground. Driving was a bear until we got south of Everett. SEA was 35 deg and rain, so flight will get off. We are direct to FLL, so shouldn’t have any issues.
