I cannot express how much I hate being included in group chats. My phone is chirping off the hook today over the discussion of Stella's MRI. I have no idea who Stella is or the person sending the messages. I dare you to text that you hope Stella gets her groove back after her MRI. I screenshotted someone from the chat I knew and asked them. Apparently she's the 9 month old granddaughter of a friend of my mom that had a tumor of some kind removed. I probably shouldn't joke. No regrowth though according the the chatters, so YAY STELLA! eta: brain tumor.

Well poop. It looks like consolidating may have come back to bite me in the booty again studentaid.gov/manage-loans/consolidationGenerally, you cannot consolidate an existing consolidation loan unless you include an additional eligible loan in the consolidation. There is an asterik that says I might be able to IF I now qualify for the forgiveness program which I am not even sure I do. I am going to have to try to get ahold of a human being. I am not sure if it is worth going after if it is going to create new headaches when it comes to paying it off should my previous employment not count. I only have 5 more years to go. It's not fun to think about the fact I'll be 43 when it's finally paid off but I would hate to do all this and get myself screwed over by some technicality. If it ain't broke maybe I shouldn't fix it?

No hubs does not have to drywall the garage, but the house is a cute little brick house and brick garage and looks nice, so that will really upgrade it. We found long ago looks sells quicker then quality. But hubs believes in quality. Our houses easily pass inspection and renters are very pleased with them. I think if this couple had not been fighting and mad at each other they would not have left the place like that. They moved from the mobile 4 years ago to it and it was not like this at all. I think they just both quit cleaning, she was working during that time and a lot of hours. She also suffered from depression. Still no excuse, but I can understand part of it. Sure made it hard on us though.
He is down there today, cutting down a tree that is dead. It's not real big so he took scaffolding to put beside it so he can cut it. On that side of the house is a nice church on the other side an empty house but it's kept mowed.
It was so cold this morning. It was 59, I took a jacket but didn't put it on in the grocery and like to froze. Hubs said wait till in the morning to try and work on the garden still to wet. I forgot to buy new spinach seeds, they nor most of my beans sprouted. I have a new package of beans to put out. The tomatoes, bell peppers, and cabbage look good. I guess I need to throw my old seeds away, darn I thought they would stay good.
Son said we can get little guy the 28th of this month and bring him home the 31st of July. So now I need to make reservations for the vet. Just need to know the day hubs wants to leave.

Not sure what to do….if anything. My MIL and SIL are supposed to be joining TD and I for the last 2 weeks of our WC that ends in Stockholm. I have put her in contact with my contact at Viking to make this happen. He called her last week, and her intention this week was to start the process. That is, until her Dr appt this morning. My MIL had a BP of 180+/ ? Her doctor wants her to keep an eye on it, thinking it’s white coat syndrome, but in the past when she’s had her BP taken at the doctors office, it was 130ish/??. She had her get a BP cuff and take it at home, but my MIL had a mini stroke. Why is not starting her on something even an option? This isn’t that her BP is 10 points over what is considered normal….but 50 points! My SIL, who is a doctor, is ok with this but this just does not seem right to me. She said she woke up with a headache and it was well over 180. I think they should be more proactive and am bothered by this ‘wait and see’ attitude. As a result, she is backing off of scheduling her trip.

I LOVE a Bosch, this is my second one, had one in the other house. Super quiet and washes clean, will never have a different kind. I sent son enough money to buy DIL a new one, the one in the house was awful and she said filthy?? So they got a Bosch, almost $2k, she called one day and said it's the best ever. Hers has a flat tray in the top for silver, knives, and items like that. Money well spent. I'm in a great mood again today! DD and I went for a check at the docs. Our blood work is good, our blood pressure, oxygen, heart rates, and everything. She lost to 128, I only lost a pound. At home weigh stripped down so was 153.8, but there 157 with clothes on. But like they said at least you are losing some and not gaining, going to have to try harder. So really good reports for both of us. Hubs did his medicare wellness check, but I said he needs to go into his doc for blood work and just a check, been almost a year. He was good too. Doc said keep doing whatever you are doing, it's working! Yep, told her very little processed foods. We stopped at a local restaurant that is good. I had a bratwurst, wasn't very big, with sauteed peppers and onions, soooo good. They had pasta salad and chips with it. I ate a few chips and the tomatoes out of the salad only. Now I'm eating some grapes. The first Bosch I bought (several years ago), I was patient and kept watching prices and finally found a good sale on the one I wanted. It was regularly over $800 and I bought it from Sears on sale for over $500. It took a while for me to get used to the weird layout, but I loved it. It cleaned very well, but didn’t dry plastic too well. That was the only issue for me. You could literally be standing right in front of it and not be able to hear it running. Which mattered at that house because of the layout. The dishwasher before the Bosch, if the dishwasher was running, we had to turn the volume up on the tv in the den because the dishwasher was loud. With the Bosch, sometimes you could hear water whooshing when it would drain, but that was it. This new one cost more than twice what I paid for the last one. It has that flat tray on top too, like your DIL’s. The last one was a 500 series, this one is a 800 series. The 500 series these days has a feature where it automatically opens the door a little once it’s done, to let air circulate and help dry the dishes. For some reason, I wasn’t sure I wanted that feature, so I got the 800 series that doesn’t do that. Hopefully I like it as much as I liked my last one. It’s stainless steel, which I don’t care about enough to pay a premium for it, but it didn’t come in black, which I prefer, just stainless steel or white. My appliances don’t match anyway. My stove top and ovens (and the current dishwasher) are all black, the refrigerator is stainless steel. I’m not going to replace appliances that work, just to make it all match colors. But I guess as I replace things here, it will be with stainless steel now, instead of my usual black. Anyway, it’s awesome that you are in a great mood again today! I love it! And awesome that you got good news on you and your family’s checkups. Like the Doctor said, keep up the good work!

If it ain't broke maybe I shouldn't fix it? It's worth talking to someone about this. Or look for the facebook group - I think it's this one: www.facebook.com/groups/pslfprogramsupport. They were super helpful (if very overwhelming) when I started the process. You can also send a private facebook message to FedLoan Servicing www.facebook.com/MyFedLoan/. They respond to those (and will sometimes call you back based on your message). When i was in the group, it was taking a week or 2 to get a response to private facebook messages but at least I didn't have to wait on hold for hours and hours to talk to someone. Oh, and the general thought is to call first thing in the morning to avoid an hours long wait if you are going call. ETA: I agree with wvu that the process isn't a quick one. I consolidated into Direct loans in November and was forgiven in late March. Still worth the wait!

I'm sitting outside in a hoodie, hoping the sun will warm me up. I refuse to turn the heat back on in the house, but it's cold in there. (I love that about this house, actually, that it stays cool. just not today) Our furnace popped on for a few minutes this morning. We have our heat set at 65. Same with my furnace set at 65.

We had frost warnings last night. It was 34 when I got up. Furnace has definitely been kicking in the last few days. <br>

I should see if Creighton qualifies too, probably not since they are private but if so that would put me well beyond 120 payments. Next step is figuring out I suppose if I can qualify to consolidate again.

NomoreDramaQ1015, I would bet Creighton qualifies. I worked at a couple private universities and both qualified b/c though private, they are still not-for-profit. Good luck!

They qualify I just looked it up. That puts me either very close or beyond 10 years. Huh my brief stint at Boys Town counts as well. That was a surprise. So I have been employed in some form or another with a qualified employer from 2006 to 2018. That is well over 120 payments. Might as well have something come out of me making peanuts all this time. Now onto finding a human being to talk to.

Also the time period during which payments were suspended counts as payments. I made several payments during this time before I quit. I got a check with all those payments paid back to me. Definitely start now because you'll have to get your employment dates certified by each employer.

It's just the price of everything has skyrocketed, we will be doing the work ourselves. And we aren't doing anything unnecessary. I would like to have hubs put in a d/w, he says not enough room, but there's enough cabinet room and it won't hurt resale. He said he might. The countertops will be probably $300 but a new sink and faucets will cost. We may put laminate down, will see. I can do that. The bathroom is the expensive fix. But even paint is expensive anymore, but we will get it done, we haven't lost money on anything yet, let's hope this isn't it. Like I said we haven't had to do much to it, but just wear and tear and age is what made fixing up happen. Extra work for us cleaning up the dirt. Thankfully it's not new stuff we have to replace. Is this the same place where your husband wants to drywall the garage? Is that necessary? Why not just spray paint the garage as it exists? If there's no drywall I assume you're talking about studs. I do get why I think you want to fix it up to be nice. In a small rural area where you own multiple rental properties where you've fixed them up, you want to maintain a reputation or brand. Word of mouth travels fast and you want people to know, if it's yours, that it will be nice. But don't go overboard. Even $2-$3K extra could be spent on travel to see your son, cover your prescription drug co-pays, etc. Fixing it up to be refreshed, and clean is good, but fixing it up to be more than that is likely not going to get you anything more than giving you the "feel goods" about the place. Agree. I wouldn't drywall the garage at all. Even in this nice suburban area ($300k-$600k) they don't usually drywall the garages except where they are adjacent to the houses and they only do that because it acts as a firewall and it has to be insulated. My own house wasn't drywalled in the garage when I bought it.

I went to the grocery store, cleaned the kitchen, called the brokerage co. about their computer's inability to understand that I am taking my RMD via stock transfer, not cash distribution, wasted 30 minutes on hold with the toll road folks before going to the website and fixing THEIR problem myself.
The guy came and fed the trees so we'll check tonight to make sure no wires were severed and all the lights work.
We're supposed to get another band of heavy rain tomorrow am and maybe Wednesday too. Hopefully nothing violent.

Karma in action. A neighbor who complains constantly that we are no longer the white-majority neighborhood she moved to in the '70's was thrilled when the minority family renting on one side moved out. Guess What? Over the weekend a minority couple moved in on the other side. She complained that they were "very cool" when she went over to introduce herself. Yeah, probably thinking who is this crazy old woman knocking on our door?

United scheduled me with a 1 hour 10 minute connection in Chicago coming in from Munich. Surprise, surprise. I didn't make it. We left Munich half an hour late which didn't help. Sure enough, by the time I landed I'd already been rebooked on the next flight out which is unfortunately at 9 PM. Good thing I didn't break my neck trying to make the original connection. The Border Patrol guy in Munich asked about my skinny passport and I explained that it was a replacement. It wasn't stamped with the date I entered the EU, of course, and he asked for some documentation of when I'd arrived (if you stay longer than a certain period you need a Schengen visa). The first thing I could think of was my Tripit app on my phone which had the full itinerary- he accepted that! I'm in the United Club for the long wait so it's manageable as long as I don't think about what time it is in Munich. My FitBit is charging up but is still displaying Munich time- 11:24 PM. Fantastic trip even with the bumps in the road.

I thought I was going to get detained one time on a work trip. as a personal rule, I only use my US passport when clearing US Customs. well, I had just renewed my Canadian one before one of my last international trips for my first employer. we didn't get an incoming stamp in Bologna as we'd touched down within Schengen in Frankfurt. I have no clue why I didn't get a stamp in Frankfurt, but that's beside the point. the guy in Munich was dialed in on my completely naked Canadian passport, and how did I get to where I was without any stamps. I was a little scared.

I'm sitting on the deck right now with dinner and a cocktail, catching up on Law & Order SVU and OC. I've seen some interview headlines that have made me shake my head, so I need to catch up before season finales. I'm going to be a hot effing mess tomorrow night with the series finale of This Is Us, so tonight it is. I really don't follow many tv shows, but these are definitely on the short list.

Talking tough Midsummer Murders style: elderly woman to middle aged man "you better be there or you will be in deep doo doo" I was wondering for half a second why I never noticed the tough passport control in Munich. Duh, I have an EU passport - in my defense I have hit a stretch of insomnia the last few weeks.

In fact, this is what Viking initially booked us for going on our last trip…..through Heathrow no less! Yeah, that wasn’t gonna work. Any chance you can book a day room at the airport hotel? We had a 9 hour layover in Dubai coming back from the Maldives last Sept. Emirates covered it for us, including providing a driver. I was utterly amazed as to how much better shape I was when I got home from that trip. It’s incredible as to what several hours sleep in a real bed and a shower will do.

Over the weekend a minority couple moved in on the other side. She complained that they were "very cool" when she went over to introduce herself. Yeah, probably thinking who is this crazy old woman knocking on our door? Besides the neighbors in our cove that I talk about sometimes (ours are the only 2 houses actually in the cove) the neighbors on the other side of us, whose house actually faces the big street and their back yard ends at the side of our yards, are friendly enough to wave when we wave at them, but other than that, they keep to themselves. I went over not too long after we bought our house, when they were working in their yard, to ask if they could show me where the property lines are so we wouldn’t overstep our boundaries. The wife walked out with me and showed me a marker set back in the brush, that is completely covered now. She was polite, but not really all that friendly. That’s the only conversation either of us has ever had with them. She is white, he is Black, but has what I think is maybe a British accent. She said they’ve lived here “forever”, and that was that lol. That is literally all we know about them. Except I’ve seen him come home from work (I ASSume) a few times and he wears a suit and carries a briefcase. They don’t seem to ever have visitors. The only cars we’ve ever seen parked at their house are theirs.Mister calls them serial killers because of how they dress when they work in their yard. They both wear blue jumpsuits like who was it, Michael Myers or somebody from one of the old horror movies. LOL! I think they are the original owners of their house, which was built in the early 70’s. I imagine that as a mixed couple in the south, they have probably dealt with a bunch of bullshit from people if they’ve been together that long, so maybe that’s why they are very reserved. I don’t care about all that interracial marriage stuff, but I follow their lead and leave them alone since they don’t seem to want to be bothered. I wave, they wave back, and I keep going lol. The neighbors on the other side of our next door neighbors, their house faces the big street too. They are white and they do not wave and are not friendly at all. In 2020, when I was trying to give them a card with cash in it that had been delivered to our address and opened because I wasn’t paying attention, they wouldn’t even open their door when I rang the doorbell even though someone was obviously inside looking out of the window. I could literally see lamps being turned on and curtains moving, but they wouldn’t come to the door. The second and 3rd times I tried, I deliberately wore my work clothes with my employer’s logo printed on my t-shirt, in an effort to appear non threatening. When they finally did open the door and I gave the man the card with an explanation of why it was open, he didn’t even bother to say thank you. So fuck them.

Tonight is finally Monday Night Piano Bar! Last two weeks had to be rescheduled because the artist had Covid.
I was reading in the Boulder paper that a builder is not wanting to build affordable housing, which is standard with all building permits for a subdivision, etc in Boulder. He wants to pay the waiver fee that was in effect in 1999. Planning board is not buying it. They have also implemented some new code changes since the fires in December. He is not liking those either and the board is adamant those will not be waived.
If he hadn't been complaining for over a year about the waiver fee he wants to pay and the one currently in effect, he would already have his permits and the new code would not have gone in to effect. Now the building will cost him more--if he gets the permit.
Reads like the board has lost all patience with him.

I think I’m just going to go a little on the warpath. This past weekend, we stayed in a really nice hotel. jasperfargo.com/It is not inexpensive, but the location was excellent (across the street from the reception), the rooms were comfortable and it’s where the wedding couple had set up a block of rooms for wedding guests. This hotel was one of the most expensive places we have stayed recently. No housekeeping was available. $300/night for a hotel, I think that there should be housekeeping available. We spent a total of 10 nights in hotels in Amsterdam, Budapest and Prague and every single night we had housekeeping. I’m not buying this Covid BS anymore. At this point, I think hotels realize that they can get away with lessor service and collect the same amount of money, and do so. They don’t charge me less for the second day, why should I expect less?

All of the hotels in the US and Canada that I stayed in on my trip to Toronto and home via the East Coast had no housekeeping. That included the expensive hotel in Niagara Falls. They also had no valet parking because of Covid but still charge a parking fee as if they do have valet parking.
I told them I will never stay there again--mostly over $75 a day to self park. There were lots of reviews on Tripadvisor about both the lack of housekeeping for the price of the rooms and the $75 a day to self park.

I can’t imagine anyone scheduling with a 70 min connection from an overseas flight. That’s just nuts! In fact, this is what Viking initially booked us for going on our last trip…..through Heathrow no less! Yeah, that wasn’t gonna work. Any chance you can book a day room at the airport hotel I know- I'm usually a total control freak about layover times and I didn't notice this till a few days ago. If I had, I'd have booked what I'm stuck with now anyway- there are no scheduled flights between the 3:35 originally booked and the 9:05 I now have. I should be OK- boarding in 3 hours and I'm still feeling "normal" Have been holding off on the alcohol, though. I know. I stayed in a Hampton in Ohio last October for 4 nights and there was no housekeeping even on request. Front desk would give you more coffee supplies, shampoo, etc. If your trash baskets were full you had to put them outside your door. I'm also getting really tired of the "well, you know, COVID" excuse with no break on the costs. When I checked into the Hilton in Malta I immediately ran up to the room and emptied my bag upside down on the immaculate white-clad bed, shaking everything out in a vain effort to find my lost passport. I then took a Bolt car to the Embassy. When I got back the bed had been cleared and the maid had folded my things and put them in logical places- toothbrush in the bathroom, etc. I felt like SUCH a slob.

Yes, fuck them. What I didn't post earlier was that the neighbor I know also said, "She was "cool". I gave her my phone # and she wouldn't give me hers. I need someone to talk to me over the fence and help me with my disability. She's of no use to me." #1 I would never, ever give my phone # to someone knocking on my door. #2 Your neighbors aren't there for unpaid assistance in aging. #3 I always wave to new neighbors if I pass them in the street but that's as far as it goes if they don't indicate a desire for something closer, I'll wait for a sign that they want to engage more. On my 2 blocks, it usually takes about 6-8 months or a couple of burglaries and power outages for folks to get to know each other. That gives us time to figure out who's a grifter and who isn't.

Yeah, I was on the warpath about this after our Arizona trip a couple of months ago. Hilton Hotel and minimal housekeeping available only upon request. Clean your own toilets and go down to the desk for towels, soap, etc. Tour leader said this was the new norm. Not for me at that price point. I'm not packing trash bags in my luggage in order to empty our room trash and put it in the hallways. And I'm not walking past stinking trash bags lining the hallways. Nope.

Delta loves to offer me a 47 minute connection in Atlanta. You are hosed if you need to switch terminals or if your flight takes off late. I don't think I've had a single flight in the last 6 months that left on time and some delays were over a hour.
Nowhere has offered housekeeping unless you were staying a week or so. I'm normally staying for 3-4 days max. I think the Marriott and Hilton CEOs both admitted it was a race to the bottom to see what travelers would accept in terms of lesser services.
As long as someone brings me additional towels or whatever I might need I'm generally okay. This weekend there were no wash cloths or tissues in the room. I had them 10 minutes after I requested them.

Mister loves the smell of jasmine, so being the good girlfriend that I am , I ordered a jasmine plant to try to grow for him. It took so long for it to ship, that I actually kind of forgot about it. I thought about it today, and checked my email, and lo and behold, it was delivered Saturday. The first time Mister and I checked the mailbox here, it was a couple of days after we moved, and we were outside at night talking about lights and stuff and wandered up to the mailbox to get the mail out. The mailbox is encased in brick, and in a flowerbed. That night, there were huge bugs running around the bricks surrounding the mailbox, and at least 3 more INSIDE the mailbox when Mister opened it. Needless to say, we left the mail in there that night. A few months later, while DS was visiting, him and DD took pictures and video of all the HUGE spiders hanging from webs in that flowerbed. Pictures and videos I never looked at, and told them to show Mister instead of me. So, of course, I never get the mail because I’m scared. But in my defense, it was creepy enough that Mister doesn’t even like getting the mail, and he doesn’t every day. Maybe once/week, unless he knows from watching informed delivery that there is something important in it. That is the same flowerbed I had Mister help me plant flowers in last spring. Mister did all the digging and planting, I just supervised while keeping an eye out for big ass bugs. I’ve not been really good at tending to those plants other than watering them from a safe distance. But they are thriving anyway, thank goodness. So today I was gonna be brave and get the mail because that’s where the jasmine plant was. I opened the mailbox, which was full, and the first thing I saw was a big ass bug. I tried to be brave, and threw the catalog the bug was on on the ground, but it wouldn’t come out of the catalog. So I tried to be brave again, and slid the jasmine package out of the mailbox and let it fall on the ground in case there was a bug on it too. I didn’t see another bug, but there was still the problem of the mail on the ground with the big bug in it. I scooted it around with my foot, prepared to run when it came out, but it refused to come out of hiding. My nerves couldn’t take any more, so I left the catalog on the ground and didn’t get the rest of the mail out of the mailbox. I was embarrassed to tell Mister what I did, but whatever. I don’t like being like that, and I really, really wish I wasn’t, but it is a real and genuine fear for me. I’m trying to work on it because I want to grow stuff outside and I know that means dealing with bugs, but Good Lord, I’m not ready yet. There’s no telling how long it will be before I try to get the mail again, I don’t care what’s in the mailbox. Well, maybe a check with some commas…… Imma go get that, damn some bugs lol. No check with commas, I can keep waiting until Mister gets the mail lol. Fuck that mailbox.

I complained to the front desk (and he said he’d pass my message on, I apparently wasn’t the first), and I’m making noise elsewhere too. This was not a Hilton or Marriott hotel though. I find it amazing that hotels outside the US have resumed their old standards of daily housekeeping.
