I need to go to bed. It's 15 till 2 and then I will sleep till 10.
Today need to do garden weeding, pull some plants, pick tomatoes, likely beans, and cukes. Think I will pull the turnips and give them away, except for a few. The bell peppers aren't doing so great so pull some of them also.

countrygirl2, I thought you were supposed to wait until first frost to harvest turnips. The frost sweetens them.

Good morning, invisible fonts of wisdom and wit, traveling the world or the back yard. Welcome to Sunday. I hope you enjoy a good day in which you experience no losses not of your choosing. Today I'm tackling again the Ikea bookshelves, getting them put together and set up. Also, more unpacking boxes and cleaning up the house. I may purchase a plant for the very sunny front yard; I'm thinking of a weeping white pine that is very striking and I think would complement the house nicely. Tomorrow my DSis will be here to help out. Yesterday I met up with the newly-visible-to-me compatriots of Y Ma'am, Massachusetts chapter with a ringer from Kansas City. It was really good. chiver78 is a wonderful host and cook, too. Franklin the Dog was a bit suspicious when I got home, but he's comfortable that he's mine. Today I'll have to spend extra time this evening at the beach, since he we missed yesterday.

aw, thanks! good to see you again. too. thanks for coming by. I'm glad to hear the inquisition wasn't too rough when you got home!
I had my bed completely to myself last night, and it was fantastic! Punk stretched out with Malarky downstairs, and LD curled up with andi. I haven't heard anyone moving around yet, so I'm just hanging out for now.

I am even now optimistic that I might enter a period of my life where I won't hear "Moooooom I need......" every 3.34 minutes. I lied. That will never happen. hahaha.

Mister took Newbie to the Emergency Animal Hospital this morning. I was at work, worried as hell. He said her face and paws were swollen and she had bumps all over her body. He figured it was an allergic reaction to something, but then she was lethargic and wouldn’t eat. Not even one of her treats, and she’s a greedy lil something. After what happened with OG, he wasn’t taking any chances, so he took her to the doggie ER. I agreed he should take her. They said it was an allergic reaction, gave her a couple of shots and told Mister to get her some Benadryl. He said the swelling had already started going down on their way back home. We have no idea what caused the reaction though. She may have been stung by an insect. Did you check her for a stinger?

DS started moving out yesterday. He is a bit naive. I've started worrying that he will find himself in a bad spot and WON'T ask us for help. DH and I did have a nice discussion with him about that last night. It is one of the best discussions we have had in probably years.

X2. You've had such bad luck with this vehicle. I'm sure financially it wouldn't be the right call, but I would want to sell. Hope you're feeling okay bean!

Waiting for my son and his fiancée to take me to another place for their wedding celebration. They’re “ eloping “ to Canada 9/21 but want a party ( not a reception ) with their friends. Fine. They’re both busy so asked me to do it. Just a few rules on both our sides. No problem. I found a place, they liked it. Then they asked me about another place. Okay, fine . We’re going there today. Then they asked me about another place. I’m done. The first place was the best for what they wanted. It’s on them to pick a place and stick to it.

I thought I would check in after a while. We put out posters for Dali, put it online, etc. Nothing. Had a few false alarms. Havent found him.
Im heartbroken. Until 2 nights ago I was taking sleeping pills but I stopped because I dont want to become dependent on them.
I'm trying to accept reality and to forgive my mom. I'm sorry to say Im full of resentment. I know it was an accident but this is huge.
Yesterday a neighbor brought a kitten that someone had given him but he couldn't keep. He's ( I think it's a boy) will go to the vet tomorrow. This one will get microchipped and a collar with my phone number. I thought Dali was safe here so I kept postponing the microchip and collar. I will never be able to forget myself for that.
This kitten is a sweetheart but the circumstances are terrible. Anyway, he didn't have a home and I will take care of him. I just wish I could be happy instead of in constant tears. Ill be the happiest pet owner if Dali comes back and I end up with 2 pets. But at this point I have to accept that is highly unlikely.
I had Ava for 17 years, and she would occasionally get out but always came back. I wasnt prepared for this. How could this happen. It's like living a nightmare. All I can do is get up every day and take care of my daily tasks one by one, exercise, take breakfast, work, spend time with mom at the end of the day. Each little thing seems such a huge achievement in this reality I'm living now. This morning I was trying to change the language on my phone from Spanish to English to answer a coworkers message, and I accidentally ended up in a strange language. Then I couldn't go back to English or Spanish. I had something close to a panic attack. I finally calmed down enough that I was able to google some words and the language was Vietnamese. So I then googled Settings to Vietnamese, Languages to Vietnamese and I could get an operating phone again. I cried with relief when I was back to it. Everything seems so weird now. Im completely heartbroken.
Eventually, I will get used to it. It will be an old wound, like the death of my cousin or my aunt Ana. Like Ava's death. An old wound that will always be there, but won't hurt so much.

Aw, Ava, I'd been wondering how you were doing. All I can say is I'm so, so sorry. You're living one of my nightmares as we have cats too.

I’m sorry, Ava. I had hoped the signs up would work as well for you as they did me. Trip spent the evening here. There was a kerfuffle where he got Sheldon’s head in his mouth because Sheldon had to check out his food bowl. All is well, but Trip has food issues and apparently has snapped at his owner about it. We were going to keep Trip here overnight, but that wasn’t working out well so TD took him home for the night. He will bring him back this morning when he gets up. We are supposed to go to Seattle for an opera this afternoon.

Oh, Ava, I'm so sorry. I suspected when you didn't post that you hadn't found Dali. I do hope you end up with two pets.

My neighbor had the same thing happen. My boy's mama cat got out when they were on a trip and never came back. I can't believe it as they are so good to their pets. They were upset too but added another unwanted kitten. So sometimes good comes out of bad. Here they thought a coyote might have gotten her.
Still that does not make it better for you at all. I am so sorry and would be devastated if something happened to mine. They are chipped but I can't keep collars on them with them being outside, they have lost some and I don't want them getting caught in weeds or other stuff. But they are chipped.
Take care and you never know, some have been gone for a long time and yet come home again.

Been out pulling weeds and edging. It's already hot, so at ten AM I am done working outside. Maybe I'll make a late breakfast or something.

We have been thinking and sending good vibes your way, Ava. So, so sorry this happened. I know it was an accident, and I also know that does not make it hurt any less. I know you are grieving. Don't give up just yet. Sometimes good things happen.

I didn't know you were to wait until a frost to pull turnips. Hubs said he heard that too, I will do that and see.
I was looking over DD's blood work. She again had her sodium level only 1 point above too low. It says that can cause headaches and weakness. Both she and I have had this issue before of sodium too low. Hopefully, they address that when we go in for an appointment. And her free thyroxine is to high. Maybe they can address these issues and help her, I don't know. Didn't realize how much of an issue low sodium could be.
Don't thinking upping salt in food would help. Sounds like someone with gut issues like her just may not absorb enough. Anyway I will ask.

Need to clean 3 litter boxes today. Look in the garden and see what I need to pick. Not doing much else. May vac the house, can always use it and blow out the garage.
About it for today, got to get out of my chair first.

Ava - I'm sorry about Dali. There is still a slim hope but I'm glad you are taking the kitten. And acknowledging your feelings toward you mother. This is important.
Glad everyone had a good time with Chiver! I'm jealous they got to spend time with the puppers.
DH took me garage sale-ing with him yesterday. I'm not really fond of it but he was insistent I go! Turns out, he found an estate sale of a woman who was a prolific quilter. OMG, I spent so much! He laughed. He had already grabbed quite a bit of cash, knowing this would happen. The woman took excellent care of her fabric and had a stash just like I would buy. I'll spend today sorting and folding/petting THREE BOXES of good quality quilting fabric. I am a happy woman.

Fabric is so expensive. I'm sure it was money well spent.
Also, if you have scraps, LMK.
The woman is also incredible. Like 92, lives a full life..still creates (she's on facebook) and she is a classically trained musician and taught at stanford (I think).
