Here I can get the ballot for my area online so I print that out and mark my choices. It must not be visible until I am in the little private voting stall. One year my blind friend asked me to help her vote by mail during the primary. Remember we vote for all judges and, during the primary there are usually 3-4 candidates per party. So I spent many long hours researching every single candidate only to have her tell me to (1) vote only for candidates from one party and (2) only for women.
And for those surprised by my long wait time to vote yesterday, on Monday my county processed 125,000 in-person voters. This fell short of the record 128,000 in 2016. Since my voting center is one of the most popular (central location, lots of parking, high-density area population) I suspect they probably got 5-7,000 of those and much the same yesterday.
I will say we do accommodate mobility-challenged voters pretty well as you can have a tablet device brought out to the car, and special machines also offered for the visually impaired that, as I understand it, read the choices aloud and respond to voice selection. And all forms of voting are offered in English, Spanish, Vietnamese and Mandarin.

It’s the judges that trip me up. Mine is filled out except for those…I don’t have a strong opinion and most of them are “do you want this person to stay in office or not” rather than head to head races. Might not bother on them. I don’t like voting without enough info to make an informed decision and I don’t care enough to do a deep dive right now. But I haven’t sealed and signed and hit the drop box yet so we’ll see. MO sends out ballot slip and there's a website to look everything up. I spent an hour working thru that with bonus teen this past weekend. When I asked if she wanted to shadow my voting process, she was all in. She'll go with me to early voting booth when I find an open spot in our calendars. Waiting til 11/5 will mean standing in line for at least two hours and way too many people. Pretty sure early in person voting is relatively new to MO so I'm happy to support it. Looking up the judges seems like extra credit work that I don't have time for. At this point if they're listed Republican they don't get my vote. Fair. I didn’t have a strong opinion on most of the school board candidates, except for the anti vaxxer who bragged about wearing a gauze scarf as a “mask” to teach in during the mask mandate in the thick of the pandemic. I didn’t even bother to read the opponent’s background before filling in opponent’s bubble. (Hopefully opponent is not a serial killer but as long as she doesn’t bring it to work…) I am following along the BT story and flinching at every setback and cheering at the wins, btw. I am deeply frustrated with bionut on your behalf and also in awe of your perserverance. It makes me vicariously happy that BT has you in her corner. We’re not local here mostly, but we are certainly happy to support any way we can

azucena it is wonderful that you new church seems to be working out and the members and Pastor are so kind and welcoming. It says a lot about BT, that she notices that things are difficult and often stressful for you, and it matters to her, instead of just taking it all for granted. She sounds like a lovely young lady. And you are beyond awesome for everything you are doing and trying to do for her, and how you have gained her trust. Please don’t worry about posting here a lot, I doubt you could ever catch up with my millions of posts. We care, and we are here for you.

The Iowa Secretary of State has not updated the absentee voting site since Monday. People are not happy. I need to know my ballot was received.
On retaining judges, I vote no because of who appointed them.

I hate printers, hate them. I fiddled with this damn Epson for an hour. First was connection, then said was offline. Then I got that fixed and the paper wouldn't feed. It kept saying check ink, it has the tanks you fill from a bottle, supposed to be able to see the level from the outside. You can't, I tried putting ink in them and they wouldn't take any. So then I finally got a page to feed and the printing was like no ink, I gave up. I need a letter printed out to mail to get them to stop taking Aetna out of my account. You can't just tell them you have another supplement. I got my other stuff done but I need this. I'm thinking I can take my computer to one of the stores and they can print it out from my laptop. The only printer I ever had that worked well, was an old HP but it finally wore out. My son who works with stuff hates them too, said they are awful in many cases to get and keep working. I am frustrated and just m ad, I won't sleep good tonight. About time for bed. I have an old HP laserjet I bought when I moved out here. Model is HP 1102. This printer has been an absolute workhorse for me. The only thing it does not do is stay connected to my computer, so it’s hard wired into place. TD bought a newer model, and his is hard wired too. It’s just not worth the grief. I had an Epson in KY and that printer was horrible. Bad enough that I vowed never again.

I have a neighbor who is passionate about school board so I just watch for her fb post voting guide there. Told teen last night that I don't let anybody mess with my family and she's family. I'm as stubborn as they come on that. Was texting with Theo after she checked in on me this morning. Shared a pic of DD12's school fit today where she dressed like a teacher in Teen approved clothes and borrowed a pair of teen's fake glasses. DD also promptly added fake glasses to her Christmas list lol. The two of them are also planning teen's 17th bday sleepover party next month. It's penguin themed and they've been texting me multiple amazon links per day. DH and I need to sit down this week and determine party budget and then turn them loose.

The next printer I'm going to get will be a laser. I am fed up with ink jet printers and cartridges that cost as much as the printer that dry up because we frequently go stretches of weeks with no printing. DS wants a printer for his apartment as well and not sure if I'm just going to send him our desk jet and get myself new or get us both lasers and throw the current one in the garbage.

I got 10 hours of NyQuil induced sleep last night. I feel like a whole new person today, haha. Not only do I still have a left over cough from my recent cold, but my seasonal allergies are KILLING me. It’s a double whammy, but apparently good sleep helps!

I am hard-core HP laser with wired connection only person. I have no idea how old my HP is, maybe 15-20 years?? This is the first issue I've had with it, and that's after printing out literally thousands of pages over the years for my author guy in additional to myself. There's no way I'm messing with inkjet-for pain and aggravation I can have a hammer handy and hit my head with it.

I’ll stick with HP even though I don’t do a ton of printing nowadays.

Our son the guru worked on this one and even he couldn't get it to work, I'm done with it!&^&^%$*&#$R$@!#@

I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 9015, printer/scanner model and its been great. I bought it after WFH orders were issued at the start of COVID, so it's 4yo. there's probably an updated model by now, but I'd recommend it if anyone is looking.

How about this one a HP Laserjet, MFP3301. It's $428, thoughts, can be hard wired, usb, wifi, Ethernet.
This weighs 37 pounds and I can put it on top of my wood file cabinet.

Well it's official dad and I are off everything. When we log onto her bank account we can no longer see her information. Hopefully now grandma's mail will stop coming to my house I am tired of filing stuff. I did get the letter she was approved for Medicaid renewal. That was a relief and now I can finally let go. As much as it all pisses me off she is still my grandma and I am going to do right by her. That was a metric butt ton of work I put into getting her on it too! While I wouldn't have been able to fix it if they screwed it up there are still ways as next of kin I could have and would have made their lives miserable until it was fixed. It's one thing for me to be tossed aside like yesterday's garbage. It would have been another for them to completely undo my work. And at least we didn't get booted off until I gave them a headache stopping that $6k payment. Looks like someone got involved and slapped their hands because the deposit was corrected to the amount that was approved by Medicaid. Who knows how long it would have taken to get fixed or if it would have even been caught if we hadn't paid attention. I like to think of it as one last "Fuck you" from us to them. I know I harp on it but some things really should not be for profit and should be WAY more regulated than they are. I can't sneeze wrong without a pack of DHS agents coming down on me but the state appointed guardian can fuck up to the tune of $6k and still be allowed to be in charge of someone? Okey dokey. Not to mention all the horror stories that come out about care. The one GU was in did finally get fined for him failing. Granted he had passed by the time they ruled but it is still a black mark against them which is something. I have come to the conclusion nursing homes do not want you to be involved. They do want you to come see the patients so they can brag about being family oriented but otherwise sit down and shut up. I think part of the reason the dislike for us was so intense is because we did take the time to educate ourselves and we were not scared to leverage it. Most people either do not know, do not care or are too scared to speak up. They want you involved but not like that! Only be involved when it works to THEIR advantage.

Why do I have to explain commercial auto to a commercial auto insurer? Some days I hate this job. I am often in this situation at work also, but with Medicaid. Explaining their coverage and responsibilities to their own employees. I often stop and wonder if it's a trick question or something.

DS wants a printer for his apartment as well and not sure if I'm just going to send him our desk jet and get myself new or get us both lasers and throw the current one in the garbage. This is what I had to do at our house in AZ. I ended up with an Epson laser printer that came with two toner cartridges. I think I paid about $160 and it should yield over 6000 pages of printing with those two cartridges. Ink jet printers would dry up in the low humidity of our house when no one was there. I wasted a bunch of money trying to get the last inkjet printer to work again. Finally, I threw it all in the trash and got the laser printer. I expect to buy a whole new printer once these two cartridges run out. That's the way the game is played.

I got my Covid shot yesterday. Not much for side affects other than my back felt stiff. Everything is good today, just a little stiff in the injection site. I do hope to stay well this winter, especially with the traveling we have in mind.

CG2 - total HP snob here and that one looks really good. I love the way it does everything in laser form so no worry about cartridges. Unfortunately, you are the latest person I know to have issues w an ink tank Epson.

Every time I coughed I coughed so hard I peed my pants. Hard to tell because I also had two kids and I am approaching peri-menopause. My vaccine is up to date but that doesn't mean I can't ever get it. Everyone was testing negative for COVID and the flu.

You can get way cheaper sticking with black and white. We don't do any pictures with our printer so I'm not going to pay extra for that. I've been researching them a lot lately and Brother laser printers get a lot of good reviews. The one I like is about $140 with 700 sheets of toner. A 3000 sheet cartridge is $80.

I remember you telling us earlier this year that you had an older desktop running an older version of Windows as well as older versions of Quickbooks and Excel, and that you would replace it after you moved. You might want to make sure your new printer will be compatible with your older hardware and software. I believe you have a newer laptop which should be compatible with most printers, but can you produce your correspondence and Excel reports on the laptop? The compatibility issue is what forced me to upgrade my desktop as I couldn't install the later versions of Windows due to lack of memory. I also upgraded my Quicken at that time.
