I just need to talk about his. DS 18 was just diagnosed as Level 1 Autistic with ADHD-Inattentive type. He also has depression. He wasn't doing well at college. We got some services on line for him and he appears to be doing better. I'm not sure where he goes from here. He's very very smart, he just gets very overwhelmed with choices/information overload adn shuts down. Do they offer tutoring? I didn't know Simpson offered it till someone mentioned it in class. Rather pissed it wasn't well advertised I could have used the help in more than physics. It helped to have someone to break the information down with and have their undivided attention to ask questions The have an academic success center that has everything. Right now they're working on time management and attention. He's OK with the work. They also had him drop Calc 2. He was taking 17 credits which was too much for him. I'm super impressed with the assistance and support the college has provided to him. Go 'Phins!

We got some services on line for him and he appears to be doing better. I'm not sure where he goes from here. He's very very smart, he just gets very overwhelmed with choices/information overload adn shuts down. First . My DS, now 23YO, was diagnosed with ADHD at age 3. A diagnosis that I had to fight for. Where the psychologist told us that he was very smart and wanted to what was asked of him but got easily distracted which upset his train of thought and made it hard for him to get back on track. He was never tested, but I now believe that he is on the autism spectrum (for a lot of other reasons). He also battles with OCD. I learned early on that he shuts down when given too many choices (I just thought he got that from me!) and needs things to be repetitive and on a schedule. He also gets super focused and can't see the first for trees. We have been learning to deal with this for 2 decades, so DS knows his limitations and what works best for him. I could not imagine learning this as a new college student or as a parent of a new college student (especially if he is away from home trying to deal with all of this).

I'm glad, swamp, that your DS has the support he needs available to him and that he's learning skills to manage better. Plus I am glad you're DSis made out ok in the hurricane.

Me, I am hanging out in a hotel next to the office building where DD is working. She'll be done giving shots at 3:30. Cambridge is lovely today.

Grieving. We spent last night in the hospital as hospice eased my father's transition into his heavenly home. I'm so sorry.

swamp 17 hours is too much, especially the first semester. I hope the resources as school can provide the assistance he needs.

This morning I determined that the plants I bought yesterday had not planted themselves overnight so I started potting them up this morning. I only worked about 1-1/2 hours today but I'm so out of shape my back is killing me. I have one more succulent for a pot, and a salvia to plant in a bed but I need to dig up some overgrown volunteers in the bed first so maybe Sunday. I need to make a run to the pharmacy tomorrow to pick up my prescriptions and the bathrooms have to be cleaned too (I could have sworn I installed the self-cleaning feature )

I'm so sorry. I'm sure they've told you that it's precautionary, they're just trying to make sure, etc. but that doesn't make it any less scary. Well. The odds are in my favor. (Isn't that the quote from Hunger games?) Depending on what you look at, my actual cancer odds are still under 50%. I guess cancer is like a 30ish percent chance with my birad.
I don't feel any lumps, not like the first time. So. All I can do is just keep moving forward and not dwell. Which is easier said than done.

Just returned from the pharmacy. I got both the Covid booster and the flu shot. I was told I need my second Hep B shot as well. Do you want to do that one today too? Oh sure why not! Well my Part D plan won't pay for it. So no second Hep B shot today. I didn't realize I needed a second one or I would have taken care of this already.
So much for being the organized one in the household!

Anyone heard from zibazinski through any medium? She hasn't posted here since telling us she was headed for a quick in and out to Tampa.

Hugs to all who need them I leave tomorrow for another trip to see my parents. This was planned before my emergency trip 1.5 weeks ago, and for reasons, I still need to go. Usually I try to work the days that I travel there and some of the time I’m there. Not this trip. I gave in and took 2 vacation days. I just cannot handle having to work from their home again, lol. and fingers crossed my sister stops acting like a fool. Bc she’ll be there part of this trip and my patience, which is thin in a good day, has been worn away when it comes to her. Sigh.

Well, sheesh you guys! I leave town for one day, and look at all of the mischief you get into. Seriously, swamp I am sure you were a bit shocked to get that diagnosis on your son. On the positive side, he sounds like he is very high-functioning, and should do well with the right tools. Wishing you both the best as you navigate his future. (Autism mom here.) tractor, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. You really are a good son, as you did so much to help him as he aged. Wishing you peace.

We have been busy here. Today hubs and I started painting again. DIL wants to help so I called her about noon, we just work for 3 or 4 hours at a time. She came over and painted 2 doors, I did the 3rd and all the trim around all of them on both sides. So that completed our bedroom. Hubs painted the ceiling in Dd's bedroom so tomorrow he can put up 3 venetian blinds in the 2 bedrooms. DIL wanted to help us paint tomorrow, but we are not going to this weekend unless I paint DD's door and trim. I'm not crazy about painting doors and hubs dreads ceilings. The doors have been painted before, but I think around the doors is just the original primer on that trim period. It's rather grey looking. The baseboard is that plastic stuff and looks fine just washed good. However the hallway trim was painted as its different. All the doors that need painted are in the hallways and bedrooms. other than the exterior doors there are no more in the house. Next hubs is doing the bathroom ceilings, we are going try and finish all back in the wing before moving on to the living room and kitchen. I told hubs wish we could afford to hire someone to paint, but like DIL said, never sure they will do a good job anyway. I bet it would cost $5 to $6k to get someone to do it. He and I are kind of burnt out on painting we have done so much of it over the years.
I mopped after that and cleaned any paint specks off the hardwood. I ended up mopping it all as it has been awhile.
When grandson found out I made brownies, DIL said he just had to have some. So she brought over spaghetti sauce for us, hers is amazing its so good. I had salad and spaghetti, grandson ate more salad even though he had dinner and brownies. I sent some home with them. We didn't know we were babysitting tonight but that's ok. She took the Christmas tree I've been trying to get rid of to a friend of hers, hubs was thrilled, it was taking up a lot of space in the garage.
Grandson was so full of energy he was bouncing off the walls tonight, just wow. And I was so tired was not up to it tonight, but hubs handled him. He is taking him to the trampoline place this weekend to play and work some of it off. We are going to look into a swimming place too. His pediatrician suggested some type of marshal arts to help with discipline for himself and activity, we shall see. I think he needs meds for ADHD but DIL won't hear of it. I think its really hurting him on being focused at school. She did get him an HPV shot at the docs but won't let him have a flu or COVID shot. I can only suggest, son would do it but I'm staying out of it. In my opinion doing him a big disservice, he even said he would take meds for ADHD.
We are making progress here but its slow. Hubs and I are feeling our age and neither of us can work as hard as we used to. Both of us are just dead tonight. I'm getting pain in my hands anymore from painting and hurt all over. We know its age and feel we are lucky to be able to do what we do. We get the paper back home and people younger than us are dropping like flies. 2 guys in the same family, one in his 50's and the other in his 60's both died in the same week. I see 4 or more a week dying back there like I said both younger and older than us. We figure each day alive is a good day. Hubs goes in next week for the results of his ultrasound.
Son stopped in the other evening on his way home. He was all dressed up from the office, he looks so nice when he goes in, very handsome guy. He was always a good looking kid. I don't know what is going on right now but she said he has been covered up. He was in his home office working this evening. Believe she said he had to go in tomorrow too. Usually only has to go in 1 day a week. Been hearing a lot of helicopter activity at night the last couple of weeks so possibly some type of training going on at Ft Lewis.
I need to find a good massage therapist for DD and I, we both need a good weekly massage, I'm sure missing that. Still so many health things needed done, a dentist, glasses, and more. I can't get into doc until November, frustrating.
Well done for today, it was a productive day. But need to take it slowly.
DIL likes hubs and he teases her a lot, she really likes that. We have our days but overall we get along well with her. And I know its nice for them to be able to drop off little guy or have us pick him up when needed, I remember how helpful that was when my mom did it.
So all is going well, do far, hope to hear good news about hubs next week.
Tractor sorry to hear about your dad, its never easy.

Good morning, busy invisipeeps, administrating your lives. Welcome to Friday! Thus ends another work week. I hope your day provides satisfaction and pleasure in sum and no one pees on your pancakes. The 1.25 hour drive home from Cambridge yesterday took twice as long due to %#()%#* traffic like I knew it would. But we did get home none the worse for wear. DH wanted to go out for some ice cream so of course we did. Didn't get any work done on the website; that will happen today. The sun rose yesterday beneath a cloud ledge:

Still battling, even after Paxlovid. It is not as horrible as it was earlier in the week though, which I am grateful for.
DH is getting some congestion and is going to test when he comes in from hunting this morning, so that he can do a Teladoc quickly.
And I just realized we are down to our last 3 tests. Requested the 4 free ones from USPS this morning, but if DH is positive and gets meds I will break down and pay for some at the pharmacy.

I finally broke down and turned on the heat this morning. The house didn't warm up at all yesterday even though it was sunny. It was only 67 downstairs when we went to bed. It was 63 when I woke up.

well, I had to figure out zoom last night, bc i have the first person on the panel interview at noon today. the rest will be next week. luckily, they provide a test call link, so I was able to figure out a good angle and appropriate height stack of books to have under the tablet placed on the tall kitchen counter for today. I'll mess with it more this weekend for a more permanent spot to sit for the longer call.
yay, Friday. I'm done with this week for real. hugs to those of you that need them this morning. ❤️

For DH I keep the heat set at 68. The radiators were just a bit warm this morning.
