I never want to rain on your sunrise parade finnime, but I have been wanting to share a photo I took on Lake Michigan on the morning of my Dad's delayed memorial service in Sept 2015. He passed away 10 years ago this month. I have some gorgeous images of sunrise that morning, and it really was cathartic. IMG_0004 by Fl Cheesehead, on Flickr

I'm up way too late after the day I've had. Currently watching Forensic Files about the Coors heir who went missing. I should be sleeping because tomorrow will be even more. At least I can make my own hours, but I really need to sleep. Preach.

I've been up. Couldn't do a whole lot to try and keep the missy asleep/resting.
It's going to be a day folks.

Thank you everyone for the bday wishes! I do appreciate them! Spent several hours at the hospital with DH. He is recovering well. Surgeon came by and checked him. They have xrayed his lungs and the damaged lung is staying inflated. He hopes he can come home tomorrow. I'm thinking Wednesday but I could be wrong. My DS2 and I will go back in a bit to hang out with him more. I'm glad he finally agreed to go and get checked out. What I don't understand is why we had to wait a full week before he was willing to do it? I know I'm jaded but that would piss me off right now. You've waited this long, you can wait another 24 hours - or drive yourself.
I admit I was annoyed. He had all week to do this! So he waits until Sunday and my birthday, no less! DH can be very passive-aggressive with me at times. But he quit smoking a few days ago, and he was just grouchy in general. And probably honestly scared, because he wasn't getting better. So I kept my mouth shut and took him.

Oh boy. I hope it is not serious! Sore throat, cough. Sounds like a cold. uh oh. Hope it is not whatever crap it is that I had and is now making rounds around the lab. I am just now finally getting over the cough. I cannot believe the mental fog I was in for the past two weeks. I am finding shit all over the place because apparently in my delirium I thought it was an awesome idea to store it there instead of where it normally goes. That was a fun Monday morning. Honestly surprised I did not chop off a finger. It got to where I spent most of my day at my desk because I was scared to touch anything for my safety and the safety of others. The only thing I really did "wrong" was fuck up my timesheet but my manager helped me do some wacky math to fix it.

It has been another murky morning, where the low clouds are kissing the top of the mountain across the road. We still have two hummers here.

Self-administered pedicure. It wasn't nearly as good as my salon visits were but the essentials are done and my feet are presentable.

Sitting in a cafe waiting for the rain to subside. This has been a wet trip.

I was playing with one of my dogs earlier, when his head collided with my cheek - now trying to figure out whether I just have a bruised cheekbone or if it's broken. I'm guessing bruised but man did it hurt (still does - it is nice and swelled and purple).

We are in the extreme range for elm and ragweed pollen as well as mold. And, to top off our cup of misery, we are under ozone alert for the foreseeable future. Wheezing, sneezing, not breathing is the order of the day.

The swelling was unreal - it has gone down now, but it was like someone had put a golf ball under my skin right on my cheekbone!

We spent the day at Musee d’Aquitaine. Gorgeous day going, pouring when we left so went to sit in a cafe for awhile. When the rain stopped, TD went on the hunt for a SIM card. You used to be able to get them everywhere, I guess eSIMs are taking over. We installed a short international plan on both our phones after our plans ran out in Ireland. Mine worked, his did not and after multiple calls to Mint, he is not happy. I told him that as long as we are together, he can tether to me.
Decided to pick up take out dinner while out, then called Uber for a ride back. Dumped dinner, and went out to find coffee pods for tomorrow. Housekeeping didn’t show up today, and it takes 2 of these stupid pods to make a cup of coffee. Back to the local store, more fruit, sparkling water, coffee pods and munchies. I found the cheese crackers we got on the Air France flight, I may have to bring some home with me. Courtesy of the rain, my hips are cranky now.
My nylon shopping bag has gotten a huge workout on this trip. It folds up really tiny to shove in my purse, but holds quite a bit. I bought 3 of these in Hong Kong, gave TD one to keep in his backpack, and he lost it. I have not seen these in the US, bought another 3 at a local store in Bordeaux.

I feel good this morning. I slept well last night. I took all the nightlights that shine into our room and unplugged them. They are fine to walk in the the rooms at night but not in our room when I wake up in the night, found they disturb my sleep. If I need one to see can turn n the light under my bed. I slept like a baby last night and I feel GOOD this morning. Trying to decide what to do today. Our closet is in better shape. I ordered hubs one of those small shoe racks and one for DD. They aren't the greatest but will do, $29 each and it looks so much neater already. Going to get hubs to fix a couple of shelves in there too. I will eventually get things organized, just can't stand clutter everywhere.
It's to get 76 today so turned on the AC, rest of the week cooler so likely won't need it. And I know with the house closed up I can breathe better, no dust and pollen.
Going to call DIL and see if she wants to get the primer we are talking about, I need to get one more curtain rod for our room at Walmart and need to do it before they don't carry the matching one. That will complete the blinds and rods needed in the house.
The only other major fix until we sell houses is flooring in our 2 bedrooms and that's it till we can sell some houses. I just want that awful carpet out of our bedroom. DD's will got too but hers isn't as bad.
So coffee and oranges and maybe some cereal for breakfast.
DD and I split a strip steak last night and I fixed a package of mixed vegetables and grains from Aldi. Added some better than bouillon beef flavoring and it was very good. Tonight, not sure what I will fix.
I have 2 of those tiny shopping bags, can't remember where we bought them, maybe TJ Maxx or somewhere?

Farrier is coming today, so I get to play the guessing game of when to leave work. He said he'd be at the first farm between 1 and 2. There are 4 horses to do before Gus and he's sloooow as molasses because he talks so much. Maybe I can work until 3....

Hubs started out with the boat, didn't get far flat tire. He said he went to change it and the bearings are messed up. He looked at the other side same thing. He is close to the house. He is going to get a new axle and put under it and sell it. I worried about him pulling that thing up here. We will just give son the money toward one. I'm kind of glad, I was worried about him trying to get that thing up here. He has it on a gravel road, hope he can fix it by himself, most of his tools are up here. My DIL said Tigger did fine while I was gone, but she said Smoke seemed to actually be grieving because he missed me. I don't doubt that he has been beside me every chance he gets when I sit down. And we talk, he meows back when I talk to him. My baby . I have been doing good not coughing but starting it again, back to my inhaler I guess.

Taking a break. I've hit ultimate in frustration mode and it's like almost at a point where I want to cry.
I think I get the point that I was hired to help codify processes and workflows.
I'm happy to do that. There's a lot of "it just depends." And the depends is based on the last person that addressed the issue. even if it contradicts what has been established as policy.
And since I'm channeling my inner hogan's heros (I know nothing), it makes it really hard for me.
I had an amazing day yesterday. I'm trying to hang on to that.
It's hard to figure out what you can do when there's no agreement on what you should do.

I bought motion sensor night lights a few years ago that turn themselves off after 90 seconds of no movement for this reason. We both need dark rooms as well.

Home for a few hours between hospital visits.
I've eaten two pieces of carrot cake. It was a small cake, so they were small pieces. But still, two of 'em!

Ask him to call 35 min before

I made a Mostly Apples Apple Cake from the King Arthur website. There is hardly any batter, just enough to hold it all together. I've eaten half the cake.
