If you ever got lard that tasted strong you can bet it was from an old boar.
I have noticed the last few nights my hands have started hurting. I'm reading about the progression of neuropathy and it says many times after affecting the nerves in the legs the hands are next. I hope it isn't that. My left thumb is locking up often too and sometimes I have to literally get ahold of it with my other hand and pull it down.
Also I have noticed that I'm not coughing as much since we have AC and heat and its been running and the windows and doors are closed. At first we got dust, hubs is going to clean the ductwork far as he can in. We found filters in the bedroom registers that were black when painting and I bought new ones. Hubs said I sure hope they have been there 20 years. We think they either didn't change the filer often or didn't even have one in the furnace, who knows. When we first ran it I noticed dust on the furniture, but after I dusted, haven't seen it again. I wonder if they even used the furnace and maybe just used the gas log, who knows.
My blinds are here, DIL thinks we should have not gotten the ones to cover the whole window. In the living room you can't even sit in there till the afternoon as you have sun in your eyes, so we wanted those. We will have then open most times and they are the 2 inch wide faux wood ones in white, which will allow light. also we can raise them, in winter will make it warmer They keep their house very cold, not me. Grandson has always been hot natured, he takes his shirt off half the time he gets so hot.
Time for me to go to bed, getting up very early. I have to be at the airport early as son works tomorrow and DIL has to be home in time to get grandson ready for school and before son leaves. Sounds like DD will be alone for a few hours in the morning. Not crazy about that but she should be ok. Son will be home the other days so no issue. I think they will come here and stay with her.
Night all I will be at the airport for hours ahead of the flight, guess I will read.

Another full day. Going to see how barrels are made, visit a few vineyards snd dinner tonight at a Chateau. I am woefully underdressed for how that sounds, but a full day of playing tourist won’t work as we aren’t going back to the ship.
This is a very short cruise compared to our others, only a week. There is so much to see, snd just not enough time. Also, we have had rain and heavy rain every single day so have been hauling my raincoat.
We have an apartment in Bordeaux for 4 days after we leave, which will let us more fully explore this area.

Good morning, analytical invisipeeps, planning out wills, garage space allocation, travel details and boars vs. sows with teats or tits as you will. Welcome to Thursday. I hope your day offers adventure and amusement with coffee in the morning and an adult beverage late in the day with a delightful lunch in between. When I woke up this morning, a song or poem refrain was repeating in my head: Never, not ever, in your long underwear! I'm sure I've not encountered this before. Yesterday I signed up for the legal services benefit option. For $22/mo we can have a new will and trust drawn up in this state including getting the house retitled to the trust. Fair enough. I agree, NomoreDramaQ1015's experience with her grandma is a good warning. Today I'll keep chugging along, preparing for Saturday's show and the next weekend's party. We should see some sun today. It was scarce yesterday. I did get this picture of wild chicory blooming in the shelter of granite:

And since I am already whining and bitching, here is something else that even I realize is silly to be uoset about, but I am irritated about, regardless. I have started back making sweet tea ever so often. I do not drink the kind of stuff Mister and his children drink, so whatever he buys for them, I don’t touch. I don’t drink a lot of soda, but for years, I’ve liked to keep Cokes and Sprites in the house for the random times I might want one. I stopped buying them after I moved here, because if they were in the house, they got consumed asap. Same thing with apple juice that I use to buy to make smoothies with. Even if I bought 2, it was all gone within a couple of days. So last night I made some sweet tea. Last weekend, supposedly Kiddo drank up all the tea I’d made. Kiddo wasn’t here last night or today, but when I got home today, all the tea was gone. Everybody complains that my tea is too strong and too sweet, but I feel like I can make it how I like it, since I don’t drink up everybody else’s stuff. So if Kiddo wasn’t here, and nobody else wants anything to do with whatever I cook or prepare….. and Mister and I weren’t home today….. how the fuck did the tea I made last night, that is always supposedly too strong and too sweet, disappear?! It's beyond minor and bs in the grand scheme of things, but if it still irks me. Besides water, the only beverages I drink at home are water, the ingredients for the occasional adult beverages I have, and sweet tea when I make it. YD came and asked me some months ago what happened to her 2 liter soda that she had in the refrigerator, because it was HERS I guess, and it would’ve been a problem if I’d drank it. It was a Mellow Yello or something…. something I don’t even drink. And when I went and looked in the refrigerator, it was in the door on the refrigerator, she’d just overlooked it, and I told her where it was. So everybody can have their shit that nobody is supposed to touch, but my shit is free game. And to be clear, I really don’t care if people drink some of my sodas or the tea I make, my irritation comes from me not getting to enjoy any of what I buy or make, if I don’t hurry up and guzzle it down myself. Does that make sense to anybody besides me? Am I the asshole? NTA

Does that make sense to anybody besides me? Am I the asshole? No, you are not the problem. The lack of respect by other people in the household is the problem. We used to own a locking freezer. Can you find a mini locking fridge for your stuff, since Mister doesn't seem to try to command respect from his kids? We did something similar, though not locking. Got tired of DS eating anything not nailed down, plus we needed more fridge room for drinks, so we got a decent sized mini fridge - the kind where the freezer door is separate. But all I had to do was tell my kids that what was in there was off limits. They were 13 & 15 at the time, and they never went in that fridge.

I'm right there with you, Ners. I got about 5 or so hours of sleep. I have to leave for the office soon. I haven't actually seen the missy since I dropped her off at school yesterday.
It's almost Friday.

I’m supposed to have jury duty next week and I’m really hoping I don’t get called to go.
Last week, my boss was basically fired so there’s no one here that can do my job. I should have asked for a postponement last week but didn’t think of it until last night. This morning I looked that it take 1.75 hours to get the courthouse and that just didn’t help me wanting to do it either.

Client 2 gave me a about 10 hours of "closeout" work which has fucked my last week. If you wanted this done I would have been doing it along the way on each file. It's obviously a new requirement becauseeven they didn'tknow exactlywhat paperworkthey wanted, but I'll do it just to end on a good note. If I ever come back to this side of the business though this is the reason I need to have a contract.

Grain markets are unpredictable. That being said, I have had my best success selling grain in January. My brother has also hit the high of the market in January. So pay attention to cash grain prices after the first of the year. If I had grain worth tens of thousands of dollars, I would investigate gifting said grain to my children, or a charity you currently support. Your accountant can direct you further, you should be able to gift $18,000 worth of grain to the individual of your choice without much paperwork. The recipient sells the grain and takes the check to the bank. I would talk to the accountant or CFO at the Coop you are marketing your grain. Lots of farmers gift grain to their families or their churches. You can be a crazy farmer and give away all your profit! If you keep your profit, you will pay income tax on the 20K profit as ordinary income. If you are actively farming (on shares) you can deduct vehicles and expenses related to your property. Thanks! If I’m going to take the tax hit I’d rather it be in 2024, DH is getting additional compensation starting in 2025. Kid is still a minor so that doesn’t do as much to get it off our taxes. I think there is some nominal storage fee as well. I’ll think about donating it…had planned to transfer mutual fund shares to a DAF in 2025 but I suppose LTCG tax on appreciated stock is still slightly less than ordinary income tax on selling grain. It’s a little less convenient though, the DAF allows me to donate chunks to whoever and I’d be surprised if the East Coast local food bank was set up to accept donations of west coast grain. I’ll have to think about it, I already made a 20K donation last year to a single recipient and I’m not sure there’s another single cause I really want to donate that much to. How do deductions work? Would I be able to deduct gifts of grain to a 501c? Seems like I shouldn’t be able to, since I didn’t pay taxes on it. But maybe I could deduct the insurance costs etc?

count me in for that club! my body and brain took a roller coaster ride last night and I'm still in a haze. I woke myself up from the weirdest dream around 3am. I'd gone to a casino with mooch and M, but it looked more like the one I went to in PA (Wind Creek?) except the flow through the place was completely bizarre. I got separated from mooch and M, but then ran into people I know from all over and all different times in my adult career and travels. the groups all seemed to be old friends, but there were groups made up of folks that have never crossed paths IRL. I can't remember what was so startling that it woke me up, though. I know this is just my brain on overload as I figure out my next work steps, but it was just strange...
and then after I woke up, I was wide awake for a couple hours. like, I found a movie to watch b/c I knew I wasn't falling back to sleep. except I did doze off, right before my alarm went off. I hit snooze a few times before finally getting up. I'm gonna need all of the caffeine today. maybe I'll take a nap as a lunch break. the pups are at daycare for their regular Thursday out.

Whelp I bomed that test to high hell. That was NOT what I was expecting from a Lab Tech 1 position type test.
I haven't had to calculate molarity, standard deviation, the slope of a line and all that stuff by hand from memory in decades. I use software to do all that now I've long since forgotten how to use the formulas off the top of my head.
That was embarrassing. I just handed my sheet in and walked off.
You'd think my 20 years experience would count for something but IDK how literal city jobs are when it comes to the testing. That may have totally knocked me out of the running because the test makes it look like I can't even count.
Wonderful way to start the day.
Then I got a nosebleed on the way out.

We can’t find Bill the Dog this morning. 😟 Uh oh. I went through that last night. I had a hair appointment, so DH picked the dogs up from his parents (I usually pick them up). I got home before he did, so I fed the rabbits and was sitting on the couch. First my Teddy Bear C came in and jumped up on the hassock to say Hi, then my Pug M came in and I said I had to go to the bathroom before we went for a walk. Went to get ready for the walk and we could not find the Min Schnauzer Mo. We searched the house, and I told DH, he never came in, he did not come to me, and he would of as he is my baby. Go outside call him, and he is not there. DH did not want me calling him b/c he said it was embarrassing. Wtf. If he would put them on a leash and walk them in the house, he would not have run away. So I got in my car and started driving the neighbor hood. This dog is my one that barks a lot. I could not hear him barking. I was probably driving through the neighborhood for an hour when DH called and gave me an addy where they found the dog. It was a street we usually walk, but not that section of the street, we turn before we get there. I had driven that street several times, b/c when this dog goes on the lam, he really ranges the neighborhood. When he was a puppy, DS's friend lived in the older section of our neighborhood which is probably a good mile from my house. This area, I think maybe my FIL used to walk the dogs on. I have even found this dog on the county bike path once. It was DS or FIL that took him there, DD said she had not gone that way. So, I intended to send DD and DS a text telling them what happened with my Dog. DH and DS have the same first name, and I accidentally sent it to DD and DH instead of DD and DS. I flipped DH the bird in the text. Oops. ETA. It was pitch black. It was after 10 pm when the dog was found. We have Wetlands all over the area, and often see/hear Coyotes. DH told me not to look for the dog, that he would be there in the am. I was not going to leave him outside all night. I would not even leave them in my fenced in yard overnight as Coyotes can jump fences and our fence is only 4 ft high. DD is on a Plane heading to Hawaii. He friend flew to DTW from MKE this am, and was cleared for the flight but DD said she came in on a small plane and they land in a different area of the airport. I am hoping J got on the flight. This trip is for her birthday. With the bad weather, planes are going to be displaced all over, so if she does not get on this one, she may have an issue getting a later flight. They had originally planned to go to Punta Cana, but they are flying standby on DD's benes, and she was afraid they would get displaced by paying customers changing their plans. CG, hope you have a good time at your reunion. Safe Travels.

We can’t find Bill the Dog this morning. 😟 He didn't get shut anywhere did he? Wilbur wandered into Gwen's closet when she was cleaning and she didn't notice. We spent an hour freaking out because we couldn't find him or hear him. We finally heard a faint "scratch scratch" coming from her room and followed it. Poor dog.

Oh Chloe, praying Bill turns up. Misplacing a pet is only slightly worse feeling that misplacing a kid. bean29 if it helps, my DH always under-reacts when one of our cats goes missing.

Sooooo, Mister did not put his Accord in the garage when he got home with it today lol. My car is also in the driveway, but it is in the one “extra” spot in the driveway. His Accord is the car that’s in the way of everything else. I plan to drive my car again tomorrow, so it really doesn’t matter today. But it’s supposed to rain Friday and Saturday, and I prefer driving the Jeep in the rain. I am feeling ornery enough that I will just drive the Jeep through the grass on the other side of the driveway to get out to go to work if he doesn’t put his car in the garage. If he gets some of the shit out of the way in the garage, I will stop being ornery and put my car back in the garage, even though it will still be tight. In my defense, I guess the last straw was that last week he had some kind of air compressor delivered that he bought, for what reason I do not know. It can be used to out air in tires like what they use in tire shops, and do something or another with air powered tools, that he says he has, but I’ve never seen him use. He says I’ve never seen him use them because he didn’t have an air compressor, but it’s a lot of shit all over everywhere that I’ve never seen him use, that only require electricity, skill and/or muscle. This thing is big enough to be on wheels, and he parked it on the side of the garage where I park my car, so one more thing in the way that I have to try to avoid running over. Mind you, there is another part of it, that contains the hose, that he has yet to figure out where to mount to a wall or the ceiling in the garage, to be able to actually use it. I guess I am just fed up with him and all his crap that he has everywhere that he doesn’t even use, and he is still adding to it. When I was typing the last paragraph, he came stomping outside to move his car. At first he was pulling it in, and when he’d maneuvered halfway in, I yelled “how are you gonna get out the car”. There’s a reason I back my car in lol. So he backed out of the garage and drove in the grass to turn around so he didn’t have to go all the way back out of the driveway (so now I guess I can drive in the grass in the Jeep too, even though I know he hates it when people drive in our grass lol.), then backed into the garage. I had to tell him when he was in far enough for the door to go down without hitting his bumper, because getting in far enough for the door to go down is a balance between not being in so far that the back bumper hits the concrete steps going into the house, and there is less than a foot of room to spare on either end. And he didn’t concern himself with leaving room between the cars to walk through, so he could barely open the door to get out of the car. I know I am being petty or whatever for being amused at how annoyed he was. But I am annoyed by all the shit in the garage, so maybe if it’s in his way too, instead of just mine, he’ll finally do something about it. Honestly, I think he will just adapt, but at least I will have proven the point that it makes things even more difficult, when I decide to fight about it again. I'm calling BS on that air compressor b/c we have a donut/pancake compressor that airs up all our vehicle and bike tires, and powers nail guns, pneumatic hammers, and any other tools you can imagine. It looks like this www.amazon.com/CRAFTSMAN-CMEC6150K-Gallon-Air-Compressor/dp/B07KHHDJGD/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2AAMFBKEP9DDK&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.M32XY0Z43EnbtTqvCtBMqCAMd1rqysrM2jTLLDUs-coBL_FGpX9wfjzzc3mp_3-0xDfSncKyqyZm8uDHP_50QPsSUF8trOhY44FTrz4ldL4oo9eWxgIKdf_4_WfcRqIrr5rQXXwXkf0Jlu73txbH_BrGybOZJtZNXzUGqGmW6D2D80KjenJTomNL4WAp25I2ICUFKRe_CLyMdCMnMRVTe9SsLWynrHmE42CNHYY89bM.IDpRZZAcUyaKv4ssPcfIuFgL51RrpumziQIvW1gepq0&dib_tag=se&keywords=donut%2Bair%2Bcompressor&qid=1727309525&sprefix=donut%2Bair%2Bcompressor%2Caps%2C113&sr=8-3&th=1. DH spent $30 on a little square wooden dolly that makes it easier to scoot around the garage as needed. We each have one that's the size of one of those old brick cellphones that we keep in the glove box. It's also a flashlight and power bank. I'm with you. No need to junk up the house/garage with a bunch of crap.

Jerseyguy has an air compressor in our garage that’s on wheels and about twice as big as a small refrigerator. This is what my dad has in his shop as well. It all depends on what you need them for. I have one of the ones that fits in the glove box and plugs into the car for filling low tires, functional and small, but slow. I have a pancake one in the garage that is faster for filling tires and can run a few tools if it's not real demanding and you aren't going very fast. My dad's can do freaking anything and well, there's no comparison really. Air jack the cars, impact tools, sandblaster, pneumatic nailers as fast as you can go. He has so many things he uses his compressor for.

Oh Chloe, praying Bill turns up. Misplacing a pet is only slightly worse feeling that misplacing a kid. bean29 if it helps, my DH always under-reacts when one of our cats goes missing. I have shut cats in closets and in unused rooms where I keep the doors closed. I always panic and think they got outside. Eventually I either hear them scratching or meowing or I realize they are missing and panic. I don't know why I think they have gotten outside because the front door is rarely used and when I use the door from the garage to the house, I make sure they are both in the house before I completely shut it.

I don't think it's silly. It would irritate me too. I just have no filter so I would be bitching and moaning quite loudly to anyone that could hear me. You're a better woman than me.

Today is inspection day. Hopefully this is the laat one. I really like this house. I'm trying to figure out what color to paint. Everything is warm toned, so going with something warm. Was thinking a burnt orange, but pale if that makes sense. There is a ton of natural light coming in, so I want the vibe to be light and airy. Thoughts?

Does that make sense to anybody besides me? Am I the asshole? No, you are not the problem. The lack of respect by other people in the household is the problem. We used to own a locking freezer. Can you find a mini locking fridge for your stuff, since Mister doesn't seem to try to command respect from his kids? This. And keep it in your bedroom. There is absolutely no reason for his kids to be in there.
