I think some of the hummers started migration today. I am not seeing anywhere near the level of activity as yesterday. I know the males leave first and the females a few weeks later. What I learned a month or so ago is that the juveniles leave after the females are gone. It seems early for the start of their migration that we have observed here. Between that and what seems like early color on the trees, I am beginning to wonder if we are going to have an early winter. Hugs to azucena and minnesotapaintlady.

I don't feed them here at my house, but I've seen numerous reports of hummies passing through Houston on their way south. My tree guys say the early leaf drop means early winter, even though the Farmer's Almanac prediction is for a mild one.

We had such a mild Winter last year I'm concerned this coming one could be a "payback" year. I hope not.

I only saw one hummingbird today, but I changed out all the feeder water anyway. There may be some stragglers coming through. Sending them your way soupandstew!

azucena I've only seen foster care from what Laterbloomer said and on television, both fiction and in real life. The kids really do get lost in the system and it is not there for them. I know BT is in pain from her tooth. You are a wonderful person for taking this on. She has so many reasons not to trust you but she does trust you. From what my half sister has told me, she can see now as a much older adult, the bad things her mother did to her regarding our dad and why dad insisted she had to graduate high school here in Iowa. She didn't see it as a teen. She said she didn't see until her own kids were teenagers and giving her problems but she didn't really figure it out until much later. When she asked me last winter what I thought about how my mom treated her and I said very bad, she said did you know that then or now. I didn't know it at the time. Even my sister says my mom did not want her there and did everything possible to make her go back to California. I so hope you can get her to the appointment on Friday.

What a day! Cut myself washing blender parts.
Another food processor went on strike I couldn't get the lid off. Had to take it to maintenence. They said I'm the type they won't give sledgehammers.
Which is wise I would have gone Gallegher on its ass.
Then Captain Dipshit came through singing bird is the word. Again understood why I'm not allowed sledgehammers at work.
Behind because of a bazillion meetings and being expected to train new people because now I don't have a designated back up "everyone" is my back up!
Which I would not mind if I didn't get in trouble if they ask questions or make a mistake. If they are going to throw me under the bus I'd prefer one person I intently train.
Everyone else has a back up and I'm being expected to train to be two people's back up.
Then the one method I wanted to learn and was told I could learn got handed to someone else. Found that out today.
Instead I get to learn lots of grunt work which supports my theory that us techs are going to be shoved in the corner and expected to do all the high volume tests while others get to do work that will get them recognition and promotions.
J said I should talk to our department director.
I'm in chair throwing mode right now so no. Plus at this point I do not think he could say anything that would change my thoughts regarding staying.
Maybe if this next interview doesn't pan out.
Right now I'm too pissed. I said my piece on Friday to my manager's manager. Now all us techs have to have yet another meeting with my manager because, shocker!, we weren't leaping with joy and excitement over the reorg.
Then I have my 1:1 with her. Ugh.
Tomorrow I'm stuck in a 4 hour orientation in person because we got shuffled into Supply Chain because they have no idea what to do with us.
I tried getting out of it but I am required to go for the "learning opportunity"
Yeah and while I'm "learning" you're going to note all the work I didn't get done.
I am ready to make a cross roads deal so I can get some peace.
Burn lab burn baby.🔥🔥🔥🔥

soupandstew I heard a pipeline blew up in Houston and caught some houses on fire. I hope you and yours are all safe! Thank you so much for your concern. We are many miles away and safe, but it's horrible for those in that area, and the poor air quality will impact many thousands. The petrochemical industry has massive facilities in that area and when things go wrong, they go really wrong.

NomoreDramaQ1015 My work group got organizationally moved to another unit. I suspect they must be big on trainings. They send me the training materials, but don't actually invite me to the trainings. I just delete the materials. Maybe they'll catch on one day. I'm not pointing it out to them, though.

I can't even imagine the horror of the folks in the neighboring homes who went to work and then got an alert showing those flames just feet from their homes. The fire departments did what they could but the heat was so intense that many homes are damaged. There was one beautiful story where police broke into one home and rescued a dog whose owner was teaching at a nearby school. The petrochemical complexes provide a living for thousands of persons but they also pose a nightmare danger to all in the area.

I've had enough of football, and I finally sat down after a bunch of kitchen work for the pups. currently watching a really old* Law and Order episode with a cocktail. I still need to make up my bed with clean sheets before I can get in it tonight.

Today, at work, I saw a sign in the bathroom that said "don't stick your hand in the toilet."
I wish I was kidding, folks.

Those complexes are so dangerous and a whole corridor of them. Have been some massive fires, hope everyone there is safe. I have been putting off sending to Treasury Direct about my missing bonds. I decided today I would do it. But I told hubs I'm making one more search. I had a couple of boxes saying 2024 tax returns and important papers. Already went through 2 others again. I started through this box and lo and behold, I found the pouch.!!!!!!!!!! I AM SO RELIEVED, a weight just came off my shoulders. I mean those things were a $100k. Hubs agrees I am renting a safety deposit box. We are going to keep sorting and only put our really important stuff in it. Going to do that this week. Did I say I'm relieved. Now I only need to find my robot sweeper, I also found my painting.

Yes, I was just going to report them as lost as we had no idea. But I did think the guy could have taken them. He had a history and had been in trouble for taking things. But I was blaming myself because I thought I had left them under my keyboard in a bank bag. Everything was so hectic. And I do feel bad about thinking that. But I would never have reported it. As hubs said he couldn't very well cash them, would just have caused me a ton of work.
Today we sorted items and put up another shelving unit. Got more put away. I think tomorrow we are going to take off paint cans and some junk plus more donations. Hubs thinks soon we can at least get my car in the garage. Even if it was clean not sure we could get it and his full size truck. It does hail here at times and I don't want to get our vehicles messed up.
We got some more items transferred and changed so moving along. When I'm in Indiana I'm going to close a couple of bank accounts and move that money.
we have had no showings on either of the houses, not good. Some houses are selling but its way down. I've been looking solds up here and active ones. Prices are being lowered $25k at a time on some of them. Saw some on the market for a long time so I'm not optimistic, we are thinking may not get better till next year. If a certain person gets in I think we are really hurting. All these years we timed things right, I sure didn't this time, though I did tell hubs we needed to get ours on the market quite a while before we did. But no point in rehashing that, we will just have to live with it.
Looked over money and investments, we are ok, but going to have to not get carried away doing things for awhile. We will get the roof done, its half paid for now, painting, and the 2 rooms carpeted and quit for now. Though this winter we can work on refinishing our bottom cabinets, that won't cost a lot, just our labor.
Hubs and I decided this winter is a good time to go through the storage boxes of pictures on rainy days. And I need to look through the dolls DD has and we never had time to research and see if any of them are worth anything. I don't think they are worth much. If very will likely donate.
I'm sitting here munching on kimchee and cucumbers, sooooo good and watching Colony again.
I know this is a lady discussion but I have been having a miserable time with bras. Years ago I started buying Vanity Fair ones, but I don't know anymore they are uncomfortable. So I ordered a Playtex 18 hour the other day, used to wear them long ago. So far it feels pretty good. What kinds are you gals wearing that you like? If this one doesn't feel good, wondering what other kind I can try. Don't like underwire and the sport ones are generally too short on me, so not sure what other kind to try. Any suggestions?
About time for bed, have things to do tomorrow. All of you sleep well tonight.

Good morning, illustrious invisipeeps, working intently at all manner of tasks, keeping your world in balance. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope this day is auspicious for you. I hope it provides another step in your path to success and that it includes joy. DD's first day back yesterday was a resounding success. She had PT also in the late morning and worked from 2:45 to 9:25. She was very happy with how everything went and to see her patients. I'm glad for her. She'll keep up going to PT for a few more weeks anyway. DH has made great progress in clearing out the office. It had become overrun with paper but now you can see furniture emerging. Although it's early I think, our lawn mower guy told me he thinks the grass has stopped growing this year. I may ask him to come one more time to clean up the yard of sticks and refill holes Franklin the Dog has dug trying to get at whatever was living under the deck. We'll see. Today I'll clear up the flat surfaces in the living room and go through our framed pictures, preparatory for the show this weekend at the Cape Cod Canal. Unfortunately big wind is predicted, so we may not participate. Setting up and staffing a tent in 18 mph wind is no fun at all. Yesterday was another clear day, warm in the middle and cool early. The dawn was lovely:

countrygirl2, I'd suggest finding a shop with a professional bra fitter and get something that fits well. I went to a privately owned shop here before DD's wedding, and got 2 that, as the old joke goes, "fit like a glove". More expensive than I'd normally pay, but at around $70 each I'm not complaining.

Gwen got me sick. She doesn't have allergies she's contagious.
I can barely swallow and coughed most of the night.
I said I suppose I should thank her being home sick gets me out of supply chain orientation today.
I got the severe cold Dayquil formula. Might as well tweak while being home.

At the new house doing the inspection. It's so quiet here. I dig it. I'm going to be on the lookout for critters. Wondering how many I see today. The sellers have a trail cam wrapped around a tree out back. Maybe I'll see some deer.

countrygirl2 , I'd suggest finding a shop with a professional bra fitter and get something that fits well. I went to a privately owned shop here before DD's wedding, and got 2 that, as the old joke goes, "fit like a glove". More expensive than I'd normally pay, but at around $70 each I'm not complaining. I was going to suggest the same thing. I suffered through bras from Soma for years. I felt no matter what measurements they took, the bras never felt right. But the not-fitting-right was only apparent after I'd worn it a few times. I'd buy for comfort, and then realize the bra wasn't really doing the job. So I visited the specialty shop and got a professional fitting. She brought me bra after bra to try on, including a few I didn't even want to try because I have not liked that style in the past (and I loved it!). I bought three bras (Wacoal) and shop the sales for different colors in the same style. For as much time as we spend in our bras, they should "fit like a glove." Yeah, the bras were about $70 each, but how much money have we wasted over time buying less expensive bras we're not really happy with?

countrygirl2 Aren't you converting your Walmart stock and your savings bonds to digital format as your attorney instructed? That obviously prevents loss or theft and makes estate settlement dramatically easier. There are posters here who can tell you the problems of managing paper certificates in their family's estates.
