I LOVE the wood flooring! The only thing I'd change sooner rather than later is I'd remodel the green bathroom.

And there's room for a large freezer nearby. It's a win/win. Is it just me that finds it funny there's a shower next to the barber chair? You can quickly clean up the mess. Sometimes the combined brainpower in the group is a little terrifying

NNP I am sorry for your loss. DH is heading to Chicago for a friend’s picnic. He usually grills corn. He had to go buy a grill and the corn. Says this is the last year. I hope so. It gets boring for me. I can barely stand up straight rn, so I am staying home with the dogs this year. Back Problems. He says he is giving DD’s rabbits to the farm where he bought the corn. They have a petting zoo. I told him he would ruin his relationship with DD. So he left w/o them. She was very upset about it. I told her it was not realistic for her to have them b/c she is gone 3 days at a time. Idk. We will see. He says they smell. Which is true. I am the one that feeds them & cleans the cages. finnime I hope you have a great show this weekend. GC I hope your DH feels better soon.

There's a story on the local news about a convenience store calling the cops on two guys causing problems. Officers, including one female, responded and determined that one guy had warrants out. The female officer was attempting to handcuff him when she saw a gun in his waistband. She pulled her weapon and alerted the other officers that he was armed. He continued to struggle with her, shouting that she should shoot him because he would prefer to die than go to jail. She obliged and he succumbed to his injuries.
I know this isn't funny, but I told DH you should NEVER tell an armed woman to go ahead and shoot you.

It has the smallest kitchen ever. It also has very narrow stairs. They want way too much money. I'm leaning towards the Verde house, but not 100% sure.

I'm currently parked on the deck with the book I was reading on the plane last weekend, and a movie quietly streaming on the laptop til tennis starts. "Neurotribes : The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity". it's been pretty fascinating so far, how the history of the defining of the condition came to be, as well as how these folks on the spectrum were received by society and medical professionals in the US vs Europe. the twist on WWII interfering with the European timelines has been sobering.

watching tennis; working on the next party I'm hosting. I brought in more flowers from my cutting beds today. I have 15 sun flowers in the house right now, four pink and purple dahlias, and two white irisis.

My Twitter friend, Steve Silberman, wrote Neurotribes. I started chatting with him on Twitter because I was chatting with David Crosby. Steve was asked by the family to do the write up when Crosby died and he died because of Covid. Steve lost his mother to dementia last December, so we also bonded over that. Steve passed away very suddenly last week. If he was ill, he never let on. I have not found anything about the cause of his death. His husband announced his death. Steve was close to leaving Boulder when I arrived. Had we been there together more at the same time, our paths would have crossed. We knew many of the same people and went to the same places. I miss chatting with him.

I'm taking it that it looked okay. Do any of the bathroom have walk in showers? I keep torturing myself looking at place in Boulder. I can only afford a condo/townhouse. After the HOA fees for those are added in, I can't afford those. The last two I thought might be low enough in price were 1 bedrooms, 400 sq ft and about $325K. I won 't pay that kind of money for 400 sq ft.

I was going to hire the kid I've been hiring over the summer to come cut weeds next week. My neighbor weed whacked them all when he mowed Thursday evening so I don't have to do that.
I have hired him to plant some fall bulbs when they arrive. I will hire him to do the graveled area in front. With digging up around the entire basement, the landscape fabric was destroyed and it's nothing but weeds. I will wait until spring when the dirt will be softer.

It's strange how you click with people over social media to the point where you consider them friends. We had both moved to Threads and continued our conversations when he died. He was a great friend of Crosby and there are some interviews that Steve did with Crosby out there that I need to find and save. He also wrote liner notes for all of Croz's solo work. Steve was also a Deadhead, so the Deadhead community was also shocked by his passing and that of Bill Walton.

I finally signed up for FB after I went to a funeral for a childhood friend's mom, that my mom had seen the notice in the newspaper. I got there and found a handful of other HS classmates, they had found out from a FB post by my friend or her brother. I signed up that afternoon. I had LinkedIn prior, but rarely use it. I have no other social media.

I have accomplished a few things. The other day I remembered to clean the filter in the dishwasher, not terrible and as dirty as the other place but bad enough. Also another realtor took pictures of our home, they are 100% better than the first. 8409 W State RD 58, Merom, Ind 47861 Sullivan County. Today all clean bedding and I'm washing the other, trash out, and I'm off to the grocer. Hubs is doing ok, but he is not trying to do anything either, so I know he is not feeling well. But he will be ok The dealer had someone interested in my car, haven't heard back. We are thinking of keeping it, son can sell DIL's car and I take the 2018 and bring it up and she takes mine. It will save them money, we will just take whatever they get out of hers in payment. Neither of us cares, we kept asking son and he couldn't decide. Both are very good cars. Ok need to go do a couple of errands. I looked at the photos on your real estate listing. I did not see the previous photos. I would immediately remove the photo with the cat tower and the photo with the dehumidifier. The cat tower signals animals indoors, which is a no go for many people. I do not question your housekeeping, from what you described here, you can clean circles around many of us. The dehumidifier says this house has a wet basement. Hope you get a sale soon. Somebody with lots of hobbies is gonna love your property.

DH and I got out for a ride on our e bikes. This trail was half paved and half sand/gravel. I did pretty good, no wipe outs. My butt got tired before the end (about 10 miles), but I powered through. The e bike did a good job going up the hill to our house. We live about 4 blocks uphill from the river, where the bike path is. Leaving home is easy, getting back home is harder. With the e bike, it was no problem. I would be walking home on my other bike.
I have been asking to spend the night at Badland National Park and DH wants to take the e bikes along. Maybe next weekend. I would really like to catch the northern lights sometime. Badlands NP is a very dark place, the MilkyWay galaxy should be there to great us. It's only about 2 hours from our house, we don't go there enough.

If any of you have seen Sue the Tyrannosaurus Rex at the Chicago Field Museum, she came from the South Dakota Badlands.

I LOVED toe socks I wore my rainbow pair till they fell apart.
Abby was mortified because I was chanting "Toe socks! Toe socks!"

The Verde house has too small bedrooms and the 9th St house has a tiny kitchen.

Got the laundry done and some weeding, just to stretch for the race for tomorrow. I have some leftover chicken and rice for dinner. DH is having a small pork chop and a baked sweet potato. I will run the dishwasher tonight and empty it in the morning, then get him the paper. His breakfast and coffee is ready. After the race, I will need to get home quick, shower and head out to meet friends for lunch and the local gun show. I did pass my safety course, and do plan to buy a firearm for personal protection at some point.

DH told me about some problems with a couple of our outdoor lighting fixtures. The lighting system was put in back with the sprinkler system when we were much younger and has aged too. We've been patching things for a while but I've decided that that's sending good $$ after bad so I've proposed actually having a company come out in the spring and evaluate/upgrade the whole thing. DH wants to have our local electrician come out and look at one light ($125) and maybe he can splice a bad wire. But if he can't, we (I) have to go to the store, buy a compatible fixture, and have the guy come back out for another $125. IF DH could actually deal with any of this, I would say whatever, but his hearing loss means I have to schedule and be present for all appointments and pay with my CC so I'm calling the shots on this one.
This will be next spring because I'm just hoping to survive next week and the possible hurricane coming this way.
And the effing cameras have died AGAIN!.
Thanks for letting me vent, peeps!

Steve had all kinds of Twitter and IG friends that he private messaged with. You never know how you will find someone you click with.

We have 2 of the outside lights with some bulbs out in the front. On our back patio neither light worked. I took the cover down and washed it, new bulb, that one is ok. Took the other one apart, cleaned and it has some kind of odd bulb with 2 pegs, got the adapter just need to put the new bulb in. I want to take the ones apart in front and clean them too, kind of candelbra bulbs.
Hubs and I cleaned out dying folage around the gazebo today and trimmed back some Euronymous and trees. We took a whole load of trimmings to sons house. He can burn after 9/30. Tomorrow shrubs that have been let go to long. They are leggy, if we can't get them looking good in the spring, will replace them. I'm hoping to find and plant a bunch of those knock out roses they are called.
A neighbor lady said oh you cut out hydrangeas! Of course, she didn't realize that was where we had the heat pump outside unit placed.
I'm not sure about hubs. For all his life its we are NOT having any animals sleep with us. About 2 weeks ago I started leaving the bedroom door open because the AC circulates better. Tigger will tiptoe in and get in bed by hubs, Smokey sleeps beside me. He has never said a word, used to get up, run them out and close the door. I kept waiting for that to happen. This morning he says I had to go to the bathroom and could hardly get back in bed for Tigger all sprawled out. I'm thinking if time with the kitties has changed him. Tig gets on hubs lap for awhile about everyday. He finally has him get off, so I think he has really softened.
Hubs is taking the cat tower out next trip and the dehumidifier helps keep any musty odor out. The previous owner said you need to run it or it does smell musty so we just always did. Yes, in that pic hubs did not have the drain tub tightened as some water ran out. We keep it 50% all the time in there. Since he put vapor barrier in the basement and drywalled it, it may not anymore. The basement does not leak and my house is very clean down there. I will have those 2 pictures removed.

I know my children’s birth dates, but honestly, it has gotten to where I have to calculate the years to know exactly how old they are. DS’s birthday was recent, and I did remember the date and told him Happy Birthday, but even as I type this, I’d have to calculate the years to say exactly how old he is now. That is embarrassing to admit, and it makes me wonder WTF is wrong with my brain these days. Earlier today, idk what thought process led me to it, but I had to go from Mister’s birthdate and year to figure out his age. I know how old I am, and I know how old my Mom is, because the year she was born makes it easy for my brain to figure it out immediately. This whole idea of knowing the ages of the people I love, is kind of stressing me out, because who doesn’t know exactly how old their children are and their SO, without having to add shit up in their minds. I know how old my grandchildren are, without having to think about it. So I guess that’s good? I may be overthinking things like that because I worry about me having dementia at some point, because it is family history on my Mom’s side. I often do the math with my kids' ages. Hell, I often do with math with my own age - age numbers just aren't something that occupy my head space. To me the number isn't important, how you feel is. I often forget my wedding anniversary until the day off, along with the number of years. I only know the number of years of my parents marriage because I was born 8 months later. Age is more to me than a number - a number which is not important in my mind so I don't think about it. Dementia is not prevalent in my family, but selective memory is - that's a whole nother topic. On the wedding anniversaries, one time DH and I missed it so the next time we went to the store, we each looked for a card for the other, exchanged them, and laughed or “awwwwed” and put them back on the rack. 🤣

We sat on the deck for a bit tonight before dinner and it was amazing - mid 80's, low humidity, great breeze. Tomorrow should be lovely, sort of the calm before the storm. Tomorrow is CVS for Imodium, Aldi for miscellaneous groceries, and some local car parts place for oil for the generator.

My best friend of 54 yrs. passed away last night. She was 92 and lived a good life. I’m going to have a good cry and then kick back and remember all the good crazy times we had thru the years. I am so sorry! Unlike family, you can choose friends and so many times they are the best gems in life. Hugs!
