My cell phone died this week as in the screen went black and won't come back. It had been going downhill for several weeks and then last week it developed a green fluorescent stripe which research indicated was a hardware issue and last night it finally gave up the ghost. I'd only had it since February 2021 so 44 months ain't too shabby.
Spent two hours w ATT tech activating my old Samsung and moving the SIM card from the dark Pixel 5. Gotta say, those doors are hard to find when they've never been opened and even harder to open when they've been glued in place with years of coffee & soda pop & who knows what else.
Now I have to find and get into my Cloud Backups - hope they work. This gives me a few days to decide which cell phone I want. I find it all overwhelming and don't do well with too many choices. It's a big commitment and these days it's for three years!
I'd love to hear the good, the bad and the ugly of your phones. Also, any and all recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I freely admit I don't know everything and frankly, these days I'm so out of touch with technology.

finnime Can you identify the buildings in the background of your picture. They are so interesting and just caught my eye. If not I'll understand and try another approach. Just a tad lazy this morning so thought I would ask first. TYIA Sure! The two pointed tower tops are to the town hall and the rectangular tower is to the Unitarian church, NE of the town hall. You cannot see because it's not tall enough the Millicent Library tower, SW of the Town Hall.

Works4me, I've been very very happy with my Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra. It does everything I could want. DH has the foldable Galaxy and he's happy as a clam.

No complaints from us for any of our Pixels. Husband has purchased from Swappa for a decent with no issues; mine I have luckily been able to time with black Friday sales.

I spent my morning watching an electrician replacing 6(wtf!) hardwired smoke alarms. They went off yesterday afternoon and just would not stop. I realized after speaking in person with the local FD that I needed a electrician. After calling, driving home as soon as I pulled in, I could hear the alarm going off outside. While waiting for a call back I realized that I had 5 other smoke detectors and they were all going off! So, I spent about 40+ minutes swapping out batteries and they were still chirping last night. When the electrician called me back, they weren't able to come until this morning. Luckily, I phoned a friend and they reminded me to check my fuse box. I had already taken out 2 batteries but it wasn't doing any good.
So I ended up finding the correct fuse and turning it off so I wouldn't have to hear the damn beeping all night.
In short, if your hard wired smoke alarms start to go off for no reason and you can't change them right away look to your fuse box and throw the switch! Otherwise, I probably would have ended up doing something bad and my neighbors would be cussing my name to the sky along with all of their dogs.
Come to find out at least 4 of the detectors were from when the house was built. I have been told that hard wired alarms like I this usually last between 8-10 years before they need to be replaced. Exhibit A for why I will never have hard wired smoke detectors! Ugh, what an annoyance.

I have had Samsung Galaxy since their first arrival and have always been with them. Then switch to the S20 Note and was happy with that. Current phone is a Z Fold5. I have had it a year and love it!

Have been on phone getting DD drug coverage, guy was having computer problems so gave me his number and extension to call back. I will feel better when that is done. That is her big expense. I told hubs if she is hospitalized we will just have to pay $2800 as the deductable, but she hasn't been hospitalized for a lot of years.
I'm going to the school with DIL. Will go to the parent/teacher conference with her as son is gone for the week,so that will help them.
I'm still sleeping around 12 hours a night, not sure when that will change.

They were a complete and utter PITA for sure. I am not even going to blink when I get the bill. The quiet is worth just about any price.

We often ate at Indian restaurants when visiting Glasgow. Food at many Glasgow restaurants was pretty stodgy. Other favorites were oyster bars, the oysters were outstanding! And of course fabulous whisky to go with the oysters. My favorite was in a former bank with impressive architecture But trying to order at the Indian restaurants was not easy. The waiters had a Glasgow combined with Indian accents. Us Americans were hopeless but our Scotch colleagues were able to understand. When my husband (then boyfriend) went to Scotland for the first time my Dad asked where he'd like to go for dinner. He said there was a new "American style" restaurant that had just opened in town. My husband replied that he would rather do something Scottish. We went to the local Indian

You are not reading too much into it. IMVHO, you are going to have to be direct with him. I hate when these situations involve friends of relatives. Ugh! I was hoping you were going to tell me I'm crazy. The most important thing is to listen to yourself and what YOU are comfortable with.

my house smells amazing right now. 🤤 I've got a stock pot simmering with the carcasses of the four rotisserie chickens I shredded this morning. I haven't made my own in a long time, def not since being in this house. I'm going to use it in risotto soon.

I'm having no problems with it, but my bank is updating, so I won't be able to use online banking with it anymore. Ugh. It's old.

DD told me yesterday that she thought maybe she had a UTI. Given she moved to MI and has not found a new primary care doctor yet, she thought she might go to a walk-in clinic. She ended up going to planned parenthood and saw a Nurse Practitioner. NP saw no signs of a UTI, but she was concerned that she could not find any sign of the strings for DD's IUD. DD said she had seen a Dr when she was here previously, and they did an ultrasound b/c of the same reason. It was in place, but apparently, they took it out and put a new one in at that time. The NP gave her prescriptions for other options. She has to find a primary to schedule the ultrasound though. She has some pain in her side, I said well it could be an ovarian cyst, or possibly wherever your IUD is sitting, that may be causing the pain.

Glad you have found a plan you think will work for your DD's medical coverage.

Speaking of twins. Jackson woke up before I did and went downstairs and got in the trash this morning. I had made ribs in the oven last night and he took out the greasy balled up aluminum foil out and it was all over the living room when I came downstairs. I cleaned it up but Macy was licking and biting at the carpet. So I got to take the trash out and run the spot cleaner before 7:30 am. They're free to a good home.

Also, I think my cousin's friend is trying to date me and I hope I'm wrong and don't have to tell him no. I've known this guy forever. They've been friends since we were kids. So a few weeks ago we were at my parents house and we were talking about going to a Chiefs game. Fine. Next thing I know my cousin sends each of us the other's phone number. We go to said Chiefs game with them and tailgate together. Because my cousin and his wife already have seats, we sit together elsewhere. Fine. That's the end of it. Fast forward to this past weekend and I've spent the entire weekend with family because they were in town for my grandma's birthday. The friend was there the whole time. Cool. On Monday night we're all at a bar and I want to get food to go, so I stay for one more beer while I wait for my food. Friend stays and family leaves. While we're waiting for food, friend is telling me about how he and his wife are over. Yes, I said wife. Said food comes we part ways. Yesterday he texts me and asks me if I have plans for tonight's Chiefs game to which I said I'll be at the gym until 7 so planned to watch it at home by myself. Friend says "cool, just didn't know if you were interested going out to watch it." Am I reading to much into this? First of all, I don't date married men. Second, dude's not my type. Third, he my cousin's best friend, so a hard no. If there is a next time add in somewhere this is one of the reasons I love being single. The freedom to do whatever and whenever I want. Not planning to ever giving that up. Then continue as usual. Slip things like that in whenever possible and you may avoid having to say "no"

When we did our large group meet up in Liverpool in 2008, our favorite place to eat was Chinese, followed by Indian.
Since our "guide" lived in a suburb of Liverpool where we stayed, we also went to her neighborhood pub to eat.
We had good food at all of the restaurants.

Right now I'm eating jelly beans, Jelly Bellies to be precise. One of these has 4 calories, so I feel virtuous.

We went to Costco this a.m. with minimal damage to finances. Weather will give us a brief dry out and cool down over the weekend before something boils up in the Gulf next week-maybe just a rain event or maybe something bigger and badder. Chatted with our wonderful mail carrier today; I hadn't seen him in a bit and thought he was on vacay but he was on medical leave after a pit bull jumped the fence and tore the side of his face off. Dog owner is suing him for "antagonizing the dog", he has $$ in medical bills, and he has to deliver mail to that location daily.
I'm going to gift myself new frames for my birthday-they are amazing with golden snakes crawling along the earpieces and coiling around the eyes. Snake print on the nose pads too. I have to get a new RX for them so will schedule an appointment for some time in the coming month.

I am so angry! Once again, I ordered something and the tracking shows it was delivered. However, management says they don't have it and can't find it. The vendor says it was delivered. Mgmt says, they are not responsible for packages that are delivered.
This is not the first time, or even the 2nd, or 3rd!
I need to have my packages delivered somewhere else. Grrr.

Just the lockers provided by the apts, that are "provided as a convenience". My guess, is that they put them in the wrong locker. Then that person kept them, or gave them away. It was pants, for Halloween.

Wedding is over, for us anyway! The young ones are still going, but we gave up the ghost around 11:30. Rain held off, the ceremony was outside with no issues. Cocktail hour outside with passed apps, then dinner. Very good dinner, no wedding cake.
Just one night in the castle, then we take off tomorrow for Cork.
