I'm so glad and relieved to read about the results for your friend at work, Pink Cashmere . Your assistance made all the difference, even if it was pointing her in the right direction. I've been assaulted at work, grabbed and kissed when I did not want to be. I felt embarrassed rather than angry. I was much younger then and as they say, times were different. I am angry now at having gone through that on more than one occasion, too. Different men, different employers. I tried then to think of what I did that invited that treatment. Ugh. What I did report was the time a man that had just been put on the team I managed came into work on a Saturday afternoon knowing I'd be there and expecting rightfully no one else. He was awkward and creepy. We were both married. He told me he wanted to have an affair with me. I immediately left the office. On Monday I told my boss I wanted a separate office rather than a cubicle across from B, and I told him why. He told his boss the story. B ended up leaving maybe a month later. His wife called me soon after the incident and told me he didn't mean any harm, that a young girl he'd worked with in the past got frightened but it really was nothing. That makes me angry, too.In regards to the bolded, that was EXTREMELY inappropriate. It does not matter when it was in time, a wife calling a victim excusing the KNOWN behavior is ridiculous. Today's me would have told the wife I don't care if you have an open marriage or not. It is extremely out of line for him to go fishing for sexual partners at his job. Then slam down the handset.

Came back from lunch with a "do you have time for a quick chat" Teams message from manager. He asked a few questions about my rise in the company and what may entice me to leave. I like my job, so would only be more compensation or better benefits. I think I may be dreaming. He is working with HR to create an "Associate Manager" role that he wants to promote me to, if not this year then 2025.

I was so excited this morning. I found a picture that was in the local paper for my 2nd great grandma's 88th birthday party. My grandparents are listed as guests but I can't pick them out.
This was the Grandma mom and her siblings referred to as Blind Grandma. Someone had written a story of how she got an eye infection while traveling to see family and whatever concoction was used to treat it, left her blind.
I have a quilt she made before going blind. It ended up with my mom and now it's with me. That's one of the things my sister decided she shouldn't have let me have and wanted back. Told her there was no going back.
The picture seems to be everyone who was at the party. So I sent it to a cousin to see if she could help identify people. I also contacted the person who has it in her collection along with other papers. Fingers crossed for more goodies.

TOMe that’s a fabulous find for your family. And you have a quilt she made! I have a tiny white wool knitted cap my grandmother made for my baby son. He had some medical problems and wanted him to keep warm She made many mittens for her children and grands. But I lost mine, cousin has quite a few.

My asset allocation in my retirement account has been drifting out of control for a few years. It seems like every year the bonds and international portion of it shrinks, even though all my new investments have been going into those sectors. The regular US index funds have just been doing so much better and my bonds/international funds have done really poorly.
So today I very painfully sold some us funds and bought some international funds to try to add more balance. It isn't nearly enough, but its a first step for me to actually sell stocks in a rebalance instead of just using my new contributions. The sad thing is I will probably have to do this again a few more times because I was too hesitant to just do it all in one fell swoop. My brain is telling me to stick with the asset allocation plan, but it really sucks to sell stocks that are doing well to put it into areas that aren't doing well.

Just picked up my dress for the wedding after getting about 4” lopped off of it. $50, but there were really 2 dresses that had to be cut and hemmed, the sheer overdress and the slip like dress underneath.

I was about to go out to the car to go pick up the pups from daycare, and then the skies opened up. at least there's no hail here, hoping it stays that way. just over the canal, people were getting measurable hail. yikes.

Someone was saying there is supposed to be severe weather here tomorrow. Um, no. I have a flight to catch. It can rain all it wants after I'm gone.

It's been storming/raining on and off all day which has been pleasant because Carrot has all this back to school stuff that they scheduled...during the work day. So, I had to get him there at 8am for band practice, then back there at noon for an orientation meeting, and I have to leave in a little bit to get him there for pictures at 3. Normally he can walk back and forth from his dad's, but it's a long slog in a downpour so I've been giving him rides...especially for pictures.

They had to bring out snowplows on Tuesday here, to clear the hail from the freeways and highways, during a severe thunderstorm, that dumped a crazy amount of rain in a short time.

That reminds me of a funny thing that happened here years ago (and now I feel like Sophia on Golden Girls). We had a relatively cold winter and one day it snowed in the Santa Cruz mountains, a very, very rare occurrence. People from all over the Bay area took their kids to see snow kind of rare LOL. So that night during the news they were reporting how the snowplows were out to clear the road. My reaction was WHAAAAT, we have snow plows? Why.? Turns out they had converted snowplows to clear rock slides, which are more common than I like around here, and someone was bright enough to use those machines for their original purpose. Quite logical but my original shock at the idea that we had snowplows was real enough

I know it is election season but can they please lay off with the robo-calls. I am not a voter (GC holder) and these continuous calls are quite aggravating even though I don't answer them. I have to keep looking so I don't miss calls I actually do want or need to take

Clean bill of health on the teeth cleaning. Lunch turned out much better than I expected. They prepare everything in-house, even the catsup, and the food is extraordinary. We had the veggie burgers with house-made chips that were to die for. The group was fun too.

How deep was the hail and how close was this to where you live? I think the hail was 2 1/2 ft deep, or more. And was the size of ping pong balls. Lots of flooding. Streets were turned into rivers and people were kayaking in them. Tons of property damage. And damage to cars. It was about 5 miles from where I live and further (covered many miles), where it was the worst. It was crazy. But there were amazing rainbows afterward.

EAT- 2 1/2 ft is what I heard, but maybe that's how deep it was in the piles, after it was plowed? I really don't know. It was a LOT. Otherwise it would have melted and wouldn't require being plowed, to clear the roads.

Someone was saying there is supposed to be severe weather here tomorrow. Um, no. I have a flight to catch. It can rain all it wants after I'm gone. One time I was coming home from Jamaica and had a layover in Atlanta. Our flight kept getting delayed because of thunderstorms. I HAD to be at work the next afternoon, and seriously considered just renting a car and driving home. I was grateful that they were being cautious concerning whether or not it was safe to fly, but I really needed to get home so I could go to work. We finally flew out around 1 or 2 am, and I made it to work on time that day.

Especially when its large hail like this was.

Because mom smoked, it's not in pristine condition. Because of it's age, I am afraid to have it cleaned. It's her dad's grandmother and grandpa was much older than grandma. I had always wondered how Blind Grandma made a quilt, but now I finally know she wasn't blind all of her life. It was about the last 20 years of her life.

I held my breath and washed it in the washer on delicate after soaking it a bit. It came out excellent. I’d have hated to lose it, but the cigarette smell made it utterly useless unless I did something.

I had a similar amount lopped off the bottom.

jerseygirl, I was in Sonoma not too long ago. We stayed a few blocks from the Square, on Broadway. I'm trying to think of which wineries we liked best. We had reservations for a tasting at one of them and they put us at a table outside in the awful heat wave they were having. It was either that or stand at the bar. We were not amused. Fortunately the wine was good. I loved Somona. We had a great time. DS and I did the 5K (he ran, I walked) and he did the half marathon the next day. And then did the SF marathon a week later.

Go to a high quality quilt shop (Not JoAnn's) and ask them what can be used to clean the quilt. Most of them will have a gentle soap and you can clean it in the bathtub or possibly on delicate cycle in the washing machine. The quilt shop should be able to assess the condition and let you know what they think will be the best to clean it. Also after the quilt is cleaned store it in a pillow case or wrapped in a sheet, but not a plastic bag. The fabric won't be able to breathe and it will cause further deterioration of the fabric.

That was kind of a "thing" with the Midwestern families I've known. I have one, and it has yellowed over the years. I just don't know how to safely clean it without damaging it. Someday I'm going to take it to my local dry cleaners, and see if they have any ideas. That's the same place that told me NOT to clean my MOB dress, because I'd ruin the beading.

I think I will try that. Plus mom kept it in a plastic bag, which is not how it should have been kept. The cigarette smoke is a far bigger issue for me. It is in a sheet now. I took it out of the plastic bag.
