Or could it be chiggers biting you? Chiggers are tiny red dots right? I’ve seen them on my IPad screen occasionally and flicked them off. If I am right about what chiggers look like, it’s possible that they are what is biting my ankles. But when I start itching and scratching, I don’t see any kind of insect. Maybe they have moved on by the time I feel like something bit me. Yes, tiny red things. I've never actually been able to see one, but can sure tell when I've been bitten by them. They itch like crazy!

I'm sorry, they haven't found the reason. Was she feeling stressed, when it happened? Years ago (I was in my 40s, I think), I felt fine. Took my new ferret to get a check up, so I could have her at my apt. Things got stressful for me and by the time I got back to my car, I couldn't drive, or even figure out how to use my phone! Scared me to death! The manager of my Apts, brought the assistant manager and they came, got me, my ferret and my car. She told me to go home and go to bed. I did. By the next day, I was okay. Not great, but okay. It was so drastic and happened so fast! The only thing I could figure out, was I got really stressed, at the vet. It has never happened again. I really hope your mom will be okay. Scary. Could it have been heatstroke? Nope. It was stress. When the stress went away, I was fine. (Spring time. Not real hot outside.)

I had kind of a lazy day. We did do some housework, got Carrots shoes picked out (had to order them though because they didn't have his size) and walked the little lake, but then we called it quits and went to see Deadpool and Wolverine. Between the funnel cakes and cheese curds on Saturday and the mega-sized movie popcorn today I haven't been eating too healthy this weekend. Grilling salmon tonight to try and make up for it a little. 😉 How did you like the movie? Its on my list. I thought it was really good. Probably the best of the 3.

I caught Ryan Reynolds and his costar doing that show where they eat chicken wings with sauce with increasing heat levels. It was so interesting how different Ryan and Hugh Jackman were. You can tell how close they became while filming, but they reacted so differently.

The hummingbirds have been amusing the last few weeks. I think we are up to about a dozen now. I keep waiting for them to skewer each other with their pointy beaks. They do a lot of aerial fencing. My mom is still in the hospital. They still can’t figure out what started the chain of events. Apparently, along with the immediate CT, they did indeed check for UTI, which was negative. CT came back normal as did the MRI. They did vein/artery ultrasounds to double check for clots. BP and heart rate have normalized. Her blood sugar had been really low, and still not quite at a level they want to see. They did PT after I left, and that was also going to be an evaluation on possible short term rehab to regain strength she has lost over the last few days. We are working on ways for her to be able to stay here for a few weeks to regain strength and do follow up appointments with her before I bring her back to Florida. I really hope your mom will be okay. It is my opinion that stress was definitely a factor, but I am not a doctor so what do I know. She is 80 and my personal feeling is they are looking for things that are more complicated.

Good morning, illustrious invisipeeps, rending the most of your August days. Welcome to Monday. I hope your day offers solutions to what vexes you and you enjoy a relaxing foot bath to get the gremlins out. We're home. We stayed late in Mystic eating a very fine meal at a local restaurant, celebrating. We did very well at this show. We'll be back next year, definitely. DH even won an award for Best Mystic Photography for a piece he'd done last year. I wasn't eligible since he was the one who signed up for this show, but I'm very very proud of him. I'm not even daunted at the thought of doing it again next weekend in Gloucester on the Massachusetts north shore. THese art shows are a lot of work but very satisfying when all goes well. Haven't been to the beach this morning. Need to pick up Franklin the Dog at DSis's later today and ship a picture printed on canvas to the purchaser. I took this shot a year ago, sunset over New Bedford:

andi may have created a monster when she was here. in addition to the boneless pork chops I bought for the pups, I grabbed a package of country ribs and have them boiling right now for pozole. it's only a 1lb package, though, not the huge stockpot she made for us. but I'm coming down from being annoyed. I needed a can of hominy, and some cilantro. so I threw the pups in the car and did an errands loop. some genius thought it would be a fantastic idea to re-seal the majority of the parking lot immediately in front of the grocery store, at a coastal touristy location, on a fucking summer weekend. it's all taped off with caution tape, including the central entry at an intersection with lights. AYFKM? andi9899, Malarky - you've actually been to this plaza. it's closed off from the entry doors on the left, all the way over to just about the doorway to the packy on the right. I usually park over on the packy side as it's less likely to see wayward carriages. but not with dogs in the car for a quick run-in for two things. so I had to go back out to the main road and go past the closed intersection to come in from the other side. watch, they will do the next section next weekend. if they even waited til after Labor Day, it would make a hint of sense. Pozole is so delicious. Next time I'll make you the green version. It's also pretty delicious.

back at it this morning, my typical am calls were both cancelled. I'm good with that! it's sunny and mid-60s here this morning, so I've moved the laptop out to the deck. we've got a vet appointment this afternoon, where LD is going to get some "cold laser therapy" on the leg that had surgery last summer. and I found a bump on his back that he wouldn't let me get near. so that's getting looked at as well.
happy Monday, kids!

Maybe he can help with things he likes that you do? In my first marriage we had a bunch of beds around the house. XH wouldn't always water things, but I think he did pay attention. I know he loved the year we had Lupines on the back side of the sunporch. And sure, he did most of the initial prep work, but I think when we briefly had a small indoor "greenhouse" for seed starting he watched those too. I hope you guys learn to talk more, meaning he really needs to talk to you instead of waiting until it goes pear shaped. XH wasn't the biggest talker but we both grew up with gardens in our backyard, so this was just a NJ version complicated by shade and soil. Much of the soil in NJ is clay and neither of us were used to that, so he rototilled in stuff for where I grew veggies by the garage and also the one time I did the bed by the sun porch. Now that I think on it I had stuff on all sides of the house but one. Might have been because of that neighbor. Pic of the kind of lupines we had. Then a couple years ago, he used some kind of herbicide that killed everything I’d planted DH has not been allowed to put fertilizer on our lawn for over 15 years now. Last time he tried we had stripes. He is no longer allowed to use Round Up or any type of weed killer because he has seriously injured all the fruit trees and shrubs at our house in AZ. Luckily the palms are tougher than the citrus, so we still have trees in our yard. If you can't follow written directions on the bottle and use common sense when applying the product, you are off the job. I have other work for you.

Pink Cashmere. You do know that tomatoes rotting on the vine will attract all kinds of strange bugs, worms, flies, raccoons, and any yard vermin like mice, squirrels not to mention dive bombing birds and bats. Just a thought. Oh and ants love sick plants.

I've been seeing references to changes coming in the real estate market this week in terms of commission payments and buyers agency agreements so I finally read up on it today. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out over time. I have a number of acquaintances in the industry and some think it's the end of the world while others are just "meh". It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Funny, one year I couldn't find clear nail polish anywhere so I used red. LOL. My late MIL would wash off with rubbing alcohol when she came in from mowing.
How can they be on your Ipad? Outside? I spray permethrin on my clothing, shoes, outdoor chairs, anything going out during chiggar time.

When I got chiggers when little mom put bacon grease on the spots. Since they need to breathe anything that seals the pores off will pretty much kill them. Another old remedy, piece of bacon over a splinter,it can swell and come out easier. Some rashes mom would grate a potato and put over it, yeah, this stuff worked. And of course Vicks was used for everything.
I have put away a couple of boxes of stuff so far, need to do more as hubs is bringing stuff from the other house. Having things from 3 homes is overwhelming. Some is going into the sale here, some to the , and hopefully little here. I told hubs I think we have a lifetime supply of bandaids and other products, just crazy. None of us are to buy any of that stuff until we look through the stash first.
Need to feed DD,I had a couple of eggs and coffee. So NICE to have a big kitchen again. I LOVE it. Found out last night there are some lights above the cabinets, hubs said how do you turn them off. Looks like you don't, I think they are tiny tree type lights. We will move things around some until we get it right. Our bedrooms have plenty of room. Our closet doesn't but we will have racks in the hobby room and we got rid of tons of clothing.
Need to get up and get busy, have the furnace/roof estimator coming at 2:30.
Hubs is over cleaning more stuff out of the lake house.

Chiggers don't actually burrow into your skin. That's an old wives tale. That's correct - they bite just like a mosquito or spider or any other insect. My one and only encounter was decades ago when I went berry picking. My lower legs were so chewed up I went to urgent care for treatment.

Working on doing needed things with mixed results. Money should be available to pay rent mid-week like planned. Might not get my maintenance done today as apparently its rake through my paperwork time because landlord said so.
Update - turns out cleaning the contacts in the detector with vinegar was enough, so it appears to be working at least for now.

Thankful that I got online early and managed to snag DD16 a parking pass for school for $85. The fb parent site has turned brutal with one mom suggesting that passes increase to $250 to 'weed out those who don't really need one' and another saying stop whining, do we expect admin to "print more out of their butthole."
