I'm waiting for the landscapers to finish so I can chain the gate shut and watch stupid tv. I am so grateful for these men who work early and late to provide the environment we enjoy. Without their weekly services, we would have to sell our home and move so we are very blessed by their work.

Goddammit! The deer got all the hostas on the deck on their return trip last night! Bambi’s starting to look a lot more like venison these days.
This house is freaking surrounded by vegetation on 3 sides that they are welcome to munch. The deck is off limits.

Pink@pinkcashmere I'm sorry you are having these dreams. I truly understand how disturbing it can be because I have some that are similar. Many of my bad ones include my mother which is not cool, and things that aren't human (but they aren't always bad ) But I also have beautiful ones that are equally senseless, dreams where I can see the bottom of a crystal clear ocean filled with beautiful creatures or a forest so sparkling green it's as if it were made of crystal. I hope the nights ahead are serene for you Even though I have remembered dreams since I was a young child, except for the years I mentioned here that I didn’t, I know that all of my dreams were and are not always scary or whatever, but I don’t remember ever having peaceful, beautiful dreams like you describe. I am really happy for you that even though you have bad dreams sometimes, you also have lovely, beautiful ones like you describe, too. And I hope you have more of those beautiful dreams from now on, than the other kind.

This evening, Mister and I were in the garage and I asked him for a rag because I saw some dirt on his baby (the Mustang). He said it was fine, because he was going to wash the car before he went to a meet up tomorrow. I asked “WHAT meetup” and he swore he told me about it last night.
I can’t say that he didn’t, because I took a Lunesta last night, and when I take one, I can’t always remember what happened prior or after.
But Mister is really socially awkward, and I can’t see him going by himself to be around a bunch of strangers, even if they have common interests. That is WAY outside of his comfort zone. It’s not something I would be upset about him doing, it’s just weird and even moreso because I don’t remember him talking about it last night.
So I’ve not been very nice to him this evening because I was already kind of out of sorts before that even came up. He has been good natured about it, but I don’t like being an ass with him for no good reason. So I guess I need to go ask him WTF he is talking about concerning a “meet up” tomorrow and try to make amends for being an ass. Sighhhh.

At my old house I planted a small cherry tree that was under continuous assault from deer. Even the momma deer would bring their babies to teach them how to assault my tree. I sprayed neem oil on the tree, and it did a fantastic job repelling the deer. You may need to dilute it a bit with water for hostas.

Easing into the weekend with an adult beverage. It will not be the only one. We'll fire up the grill a little later.

My county is flooded from the remnants of tropical storm Debbie.
I’m fine but multiple roads and bridges are washed out.

I decided just to check the MO side again just to see what was out there in case the seller of the house I offered on said no. I'm kinda hoping they say no just a little bit. There is some good stuff over there.

I’m in N Carolina helping DD do rehab on her dog after hip surgery (the dogs.) I’ve already cleaned and cleaned out her refrigerator and pulled weeds. It got hot and I had enough. I bought and made dinner last night and tonight as well. We’re going to go over her credit card bill again. Of course 4 packages came for her today so part of the deal needs to be to actually stop spending money you don’t have. Hiya Zib!!!!!!!!!! Long time, no see! Life gets crazy at times.

Y'all the police just left here. I heard screaming next door but I was watching Criminal Minds which involves screaming. I paused it and listened and it was coming from next door. The people next door have a couple of teenagers and a tween. I figured maybe someone lost a privilege and had a meltdown. I kept listening and heard "don't touch me" and "I'm sorry.' I figured maybe it would stop and maybe someone tried to buck up to a parent and got hands put on them. I started to call the police but the showed up then.
You know my nosy ass was at the door watching them. Nobody went to jail, but one of the teens left in an ambulance. I'm wondering if it wasn't a medical emergency or a mental health crisis. Surely if someone was beating or attacking someone else, they would have taken someone to jail.

Already fell asleep.
We had Burger King tonight, I am so ready for home cooked food again. I was really hungry tonight for a change.
We worked at the house. I rewashed a bunch of windows on the outside with Dawn and water and rinsed them, then dried with paper towels. I have the inside to do again. I washed one in the front and the damn thing is still streaked, I don't understand it. After I wash them this time, I quit for awhile. I don't know if washing them with CLR would make a difference. going to do the ones on the back inside tomorrow and see what I have. I know they are clean, they squeaked when I dried them. Have never seen anything like that before. Even houses with very old windows I've cleaned and they sparkled.
I washed the walls down in our bedroom. Hubs has to move the headboard for me to get back there and a hutch. It looks a lot better.
I vacced the heck out of the carpet in there and it looks better, don't think they had a good vacuum. I also cleaned several of the spots and the dirt came right out. I was pleasantly surprised. When we move the bed around going to clean a couple more areas. I have done that in other houses until we could afford to get new flooring. It doesn't look half bad. Hubs got DD's room painted, its a darker lavender than I would have ever used. Hubs said DD will love it and its her room, he is right of course. She will be one happy camper. We bought 2 new blinds and they aren't going to work, we are going to have to go with something different as they go up differently. He is taking everything out of her room and I told him to vac it in several different directions, its not as bad. He and son are moving the couch and our bedroom suit tomorrow. We are getting rid of the table and chairs here, don't need them and some other items.
Today I took most of the canned goods to the house and a lot of my clothes from the closet. I loaded the rest of the pantry items for tomorrow. As he said we will take the rest a bit at a time. I'm worn out, today was the first time I have really been able to work, but I got hot and tired and had to sit down a lot. I sure don't want to rewash windows as I'm not all done with them yet. But here we only have 12 windows and 3 glass doors versus 21 at the other house. But we need new curtain rods and likely blinds too.

My kitties are being little dears, they don't go far. Just the one side of the house and a bit in the front yard. Hubs said they will venture further. I don't know, at the other house they seemed to know the boundaries. Tig is hanging inside and in the hobby room plus patio. Smokey comes when I call him and he is very close, they are enjoying lot of loving and pets. Tiggy loves laying on the pass through from the kitchen. And Smoke was on the top of the grandfather clock. I'm just so happy to see them settling in so well. But having the same food bowls, little boxes and furniture I'm sure is helping them, their scent is on most of it.
It's 9:30, I'm about ready for bed, I slept in the recliner quite awhile. But I'm having trouble sleeping lately either from pain or thinking about all that needs done. Way more than I thought. But I guess every used house needs our personal touches and things fixed.
We felt like the lighting is too dark. Hubs took the kitchen light down and the bulbs were so hot he almost burnt his hands. We decided we need to change them all out. It said LED's but we had never seen any like those. I washed the globe and that is better. or temporary he bought me some puck lights to put under the cabinets so that helped too.
First chance I get the navy paint in the small bathroom is going as is the navy in the office/bedroom. Putting that dark in tiny rooms is not for me. But I bet it takes 2 coats of kilz to cover that stuff.
And that's the kind of stuff I'm thinking about.
Hubs said today, it will likely take him a year or two to do what he wants. And he looked sad, he said I bet I am through by that time and can't do more. I told him, I'm almost done now, let alone 2 more years. We are having trouble facing our mortality and loss of being able to do things we enjoy. Very hard for people like us who are used to doing it all.

I missed Houston and the diversity down there, from the food to the people.
Today felt good, I went into Starbucks, there was a lady in a wheelchair young people, people of every color and race, all enjoying life together, old people. To me this is what America is about and this is what a lot of middle America cannot understand. I bet there were all kinds of religions represented or none at all. And to me this is as it should be. I don't want the kind of America one of our candidates is trying to push on us, I want the America I saw represented today. And I once again feel like I'm a part of it. Strange, but I never felt like I belonged where I grew up. I even had people tell me growing up, I did not fit in with people there. I'm sure glad I never did. I think I will be very happy here.

Good morning, inspiring invisipeeps, waltzing through the weeds. Welcome to Saturday. I remember playing in high school on my saxophone, 'Saturday in the park, I think it was the fourth of July . . .' Still at the hotel here. Need to get moving soon to set up our tent and booth. We have until 10, and it's a 10 minute drive away. The rain seems to have stopped which is great news. And the wind is now expected to be a much more reasonable under 10 mph. I really hope today goes well. Yesterday morning at home was foggy and dark. I did see a conclave of tiny dinosaurs, including these, an egret and a laughing gull:

So Mister and OD seem to be playing musical cars. She came over today in her car, and drove away in Mister’s Honda. He said today that she keeps asking to drive the Tahoe instead of taking his Honda. I’ve been driving for 40 years, starting a few years before I was old enough to get a driver’s license, and I learned to drive in big boat kind of cars. So I am confident that I can drive anything except maybe a commercial vehicle with a long trailer behind. And even with all of that, even though I do like driving it, the Tahoe is still a lot of vehicle for me. When we got home from going to pick up his Mustang, Mister said more than once that he was surprised with how I was rolling the Tahoe on the way back home. He got away from me several times, sometimes because he was driving faster than I was willing to drive, and sometimes because when we were rolling through traffic, I tightened up behind him to try to keep other vehicles from getting between us, but sometimes cars did get between us because the Tahoe needs room to stop if I have to hit the brakes, so I didn’t get as close to him as I would’ve in a lighter vehicle. I can ride a bumper with mere inches to spare in my car, but it is much lighter and more nimble than the Tahoe. I don’t play those kind of games in the Tahoe. It does not stop “on a dime”, it needs a few dollars worth of dimes before it stops moving. I feel like handling the Tahoe like I did, with it being such a large and heavy vehicle, has to do with decades of past experience driving different kinds of vehicles, even though both of my current vehicles are tiny. OD has gotten tickets for speeding so fast in her car (which is actually a small SUV) that the tickets were for reckless driving. So I understand why Mister won’t let her drive the Tahoe. She wanted to drive the Mustang when she first saw it, and got disgusted when she saw it was a stick shift. So far, Mister hasn’t said anything about teaching her to drive it. So now her car is parked in our driveway. I guess it didn’t run hot while she was driving it here. Mister says they are taking it to the shop Monday. She has his Honda again because she has some stuff she needs to do this weekend. I don’t really care, as long as my Honda and my Jeep aren’t options for her to drive. I won’t be surprised if she ends up taking his Honda when they go back to college in a few weeks. I’ve only voiced that thought here, and I will revisit in a couple of weeks to say whether I’m right or not. I'm guessing the Tahoe is "prettier", because no 20 something YO that I've ever known would want to drive a "mom" vehicle like a Tahoe. Either way she would be driving a free car. I wish I had that in my 20s, lol. IA that she will likely get his Honda as a hand me down. And I've done that for my own kids, but my kids also treat with me with respect and are grateful for what they get.

They kill my hostas every freaking year. 5 feet from my front door. They do not mess with the hydrangeas and I have no idea why, they are right next to the the biggest hosta. They also eat my planters of American Sedum, which are 5 feet from the porch and 2 feet away from my vehicle. And we have a freezer full of venison because DH sometimes hunts from the back deck.

If my son had gotten tickets for reckless driving he wouldn't be allowed to back my car out of a parking space period. I have no clue on insurance guidelines but had a friend whose kid had several claims and she was on her mothers insurance. Her agent dropped her daughter and they had to go with one of the high risk companies. She was not allowed behind the wheel of her mother's car and if she did drive mother's car and had accident insurance was void.
I don't get what the particular car has anything to do with not letting her drive. She shouldn't be driving any car he/you have unless it's just not a big deal. Don't know age of Mister's daughter but geeze Louise!!
ETA: I think the term used was "excluded driver" on her mother's policy! Long ago so not sure about that.

My get up and go has get up and went.
Everyone wants something from me too. I shouldn't complain. I know I had four kids. And I am grateful that DD1 *asked* to do something with me.
And school starts in less than two weeks and I am so not ready.

I suspect the real culprit is dealing with the emotional fall out of work. It's so dysfunctional. It's like when I started getting space from my parents, and it was quiet and normal. And I literally asked what I was supposed to do now, because all that emotional time/energy suck was gone. I have some paperwork to take care of, as it got lost a long time ago. I said I'd look at it over the weekend. the HR person was like "oh, we don't work on the weekend. Monday is fine." I was like, wait, what? Even my onboarding is super considerate. I don't do well with transitions/change. (There's a shocker). It will all get done. It mostly does.

Found this little bear at the thrift store just thrown on a shelf. He made me think of the bear I got made from my mom's sweater and I couldn't stand tye idea of him being left unloved on a shelf. So he came home and I repaired his arm. I named him Patches. Been thinking about mom a lot this week. This little guy got some big feelings transfered onto him. I hope whoever made him and whoever loved him first is happy he found a new home.
