Verizon guy has come and now gone to look at a box a couple streets over. No signal coming from the street at all. Glad it wasn't just me. Now to rearrange the garden bed. I have Internet!!! And an all new power system for it. Now to mow some more yard before I drown myself in the pool aka outdoor bathtub. Friends are comíng over tonight for the firepit. There are so many dry pine needles in it, it's gonna be visible from space.

chiver78 I was melting outside too, and after only 1/2 hour of weeding. In the morning. I am not proud of that. Watching Stage 20 of the Tour de France - less than 15 miles to go, but all the top spots are decided. W atching the descents through the Alps makes me nauseous. They are cycling faster than I often drive. Tried a Red's chicken chorizo burrito this morning - it was a bit spicy but actually pretty good. I got DH to try a blueberry scone for breakfast (bought from a bakery) and he liked it, so I will have to learn to make them now.
I would love to be watching but I need things that will mellow me out at the moment. Still, it is very awesome and scary as heck. I love that WF by me makes nondairy scones and donuts once in a while. Pricey, but nice to have as a treat. Ohhhhhh I wonder if it is blueberry frosted donut time now?

Home Goods was just okay. I didn’t see anything really that would warrant me wanting to go again.
We are heading back out for a late lunch. Not sure where yet. DH got his work stuff (or should I say his employee’s work stuff) done, so he is in a better mood now.

I got a lot of little odds and ends done in the yard. I'm still dealing with the aftermath of having a bunch of work done on the house, but closing in on the end of that. I still need to get a trellis back up. If it's not too hot, I may even go buy some mulch for a bed that I have completely weeded. Or I may just chill and find something to watch.

More and more stuff going to the road. My deciding to keep something is getting very low. The kitty room is almost cleared. I just have boxes to seal in there. Hubs is outside washing windows, so we are moving along. I need to vac in there and think hubs has the vac in the basement.
However all of a sudden had to visit the commode several times again. I'm not sick, so maybe I was just super backed up, who knows. I know TMI, sorry about that.
I'm going to have to get DD lunch, later all.

I haven't clenched my teeth while sleeping for the past three days. I even slept through the night last night, sleeping more than 4-5 hours. I've also been able to walk every day. So my cankles are nto awful. Totally worth the cost. (I'm on one of my crafty retreats). AND I get to do it again soon. Theo, you are in my thoughts. Is it because you are at your retreat, or you see an end to the job nightmare? Regardless, I’m glad your stress level is dropping. I think it's because I'm on a retreat. My jaw has been clenching at home. There is something truly magical about the experience.

Texted MIL for help, at least with the walking. I know they liked walking the track at the school too. She offered to do any appointments too, but I have that covered for the next 2 weeks. She can assist after that. IDGAF if he likes it or not. He wants to live in the country and one of the drawbacks is not having conveniences like food delivery, public transportation, Uber, etc.
I took him to the track today, where he did 3/4 of a mile. Tried to finish up the mile but started hurting too bad. He was determined to do the mile, so it must have been very painful for him to give up. And he thinks the doctor is going to clear him to drive Tuesday. 🤦♀️

We are less than a week away from my MIL/FIL's 50th anniversary. I think we have around 80 people coming in for the party. MIL has 12 brothers and sisters, and they all have a very strong resemblance; so I keep going through the Shutterfly photo book that we put together to make sure that at least I can recognize the ones that will be staying overnight in our home. I feel like I should be frantically cleaning, but realistically anything I clean today will be dirty again by Wednesday when my first guests arrive, so I think I will wait until Monday so I don't have to re-clean again.

We bought a larger house than we needed so we could accommodate family visits. Our last house was under 1000 sf and had just one bathroom, which made things uncomfortable for everyone when we had guests. But we may have been a bit too successful with the larger house because this will be our fifth set of guests in the last three months. I enjoy having them, but I am ready for things to slow down and for our guests to be spaced out a lot further apart.

MOA is freaking amazing! I usually hate malls but damn. Abby has been in the amusement park and I took Gwen shopping.
I really want a pair of Guess jeans.

Very overwhelmed, on the verge of a panic attack. Between 2 new humongous work projects with strict schedules the next 2 months, handling everything at home with DH out of commission, and figuring out how to work around his doctor & now PT appointments and trying to get him out of the house to walk because he doesn't want to be around his parents because they are annoying him (welcome to my f*cking world!) I can't keep up at this pace. Are the PT appointments at home? Or drive to? We have a rehab for PT that has a bus to pick up and drop off patients. Can he get into a car by himself? If so Uber .Does he make appointments or get you to make them? Push as much on him as possible. Don’t take on job of keeping the peace. Suggest you look at the project timelines and make a strong case for getting more people put on it if required to get them done on time. Can you rearrange deliverables for the projects by adjusting intermediate steps? Don’t just ‘dive in’, stop and review timelines and steps first

daisylu, can you hire anyone to help you with the everyday stuff, like cleaning house, grocery delivery, or anything else that will take some of the pressure off of you? Wishing you the very best!

Holy crap this mall is HUGE! We were there when our kids were maybe 12 and 15. We actually enjoyed ourselves very much even though our kids were a bit old for the rides. We spent $$ shopping even though the prices there tend to be higher than same store at other local malls per my Minneapolis based cousin. DD likes Sushi, so we ate at a restaurant called CRAVE in the mall. Don't know if they are still there. I think it is a chain. Tested myself for COVID with an expired test and it was +, so I went to target and bought a new one, and that one was also +. I am currently at work, have to try to get some work done. I am the only one here right now. Didn't want to take my mom to church and spread my germs around. My son had also asked me to give him a ride to retreive his car from his work and I didn't want to expose him. DH is going to handle giving DS a ride. Let my siblings know I have covid. Mom has a Dr. appt on Monday, don't know if she will end up with covid too or not. I went to mom's yesterday on my lunch to pay her CC bill. I went downstairs to check on her laundry and restarted something in the machine, then she told me she was out of TP, so I ran to the grocery store and bought her Yogurt, Ice Cream, Bananas, and TP. Went back after work to move the laundry to the dryer, and one of her friends was there. She had brough Fish Fry for both of them and they were eating dinner. Mom had told her we were going to move her to a "Senior Living Facility". Friend proceeded to lecture me that mom just wasn't ready for that yet. She said she would be willing to come every day and give mom her meds. She is a retired nurse, but she is the same age range as my mom - so early to mid 80's. She lives about 4 blocks from mom. She also told me that her daughter and son-in law are taking care of his parents, one of which also has Alzheimer's and her daughter makes a schedule every Sunday of who in the family will be "on duty" at what time. I told her well, there are only 3 of us, and we are all still working. I also told her I cannot quit working because we need the health insurance. I did not mention it, but my DH is diabetic. They put him on Ozempic b/c his numbers were bad and either his kidneys or liver are at risk. I know that he is currently getting a discount on the Ozempic cost, but I don't think the Manufacturers give those discounts if you have marketplace plans. We could buy via the small business marketplace, so I don't know if it would make a difference or not. DH always tells me I am also uninsurable b/c I had cancer about 15 years ago. Who knows what happens if Trump gets in and they start implementing that 2025 Plan. I talked to DS last night. She basically said she needs to keep working, she seems to feel moving mom to this senior living place is the right decision. DS will be 62 in fall, but has very little saved for retirement. DH said the only way mom can stay in her house alone is if we find someone to live with her. He said his mom would watch my mom or be willing to live with mom and care for her but they would need to live in a ranch house. Mom's house and my in-laws house are both 2 story houses. At any rate, I am not so sure that is anything but a temporary solution. My father-in-law is rather frail. Came to the office to get some stuff done, I have a long list of to-dos for July. I don't have time to be sick.

Mom called me wanting to cancell her Monday Dr. appointment. She told me my brother was in Florida. I texted him and he said he is in town and he will handle it. I have to call him tomorrow and tell him about Mom's friend G. At least he needs to know what is up before he sees mom. Idk if the friend set mom off or what, on Thursday she told me the place was nice. Don't know if she will settle down or not.

He did the scheduling and scheduled most for the end of my workday. We live too far out of town for Uber. The work timelines are realistic but still rushed. My manager understands that and has told the rest of his team that this is priority, so they are to let me manage and them do most of the heavy lifting. But ultimately, it is my name attached and there are now 5 VPs (outside of the usual 1 that I report to) of a global company paying close attention to our results.

And yet it happens. I still have no idea what to do about my dilemma with my very hurt knee etc. in conjunction with work now being a newly merged company. When the doctor mentioned being out two or three months I pretty much freaked out. Even if I should do that, how I am supposed to survive economically? I really do not know. But I need to change my POV and ask the universe to help me. And be patient enough to let it. That's the hard part of feminine energy to me. Waiting. Accepting. Taking what comes and transforming it into something beautiful when you can and in my case up the style points if you need to. ,No alcohol in the house, but there is food. Crestie might be a bit happier. I forgot my usual protocols of letting him treat me like a tree when he was half awake and then gently convince him wants to be back home. So, as he toddled back into deep forest cover late morning (his) I think he was more at peace. The website reminded keepers that if you get upset and put them back immediately after bad behavior they associate being handled with bad things. So, it was suggested to have a towel at the ready. I used to have a washcloth at a minimum, but I guess I need to rearrange my critter care stuff again.

After lunch we went to Home Goods. DH had only been there once before many years ago, and it blew his mind in a good way. I found 2 cute Halloween items, more Oxo pantry storage containers (I love those!), a new dish soap dispenser to replace the Covid-era one that's dripping, and a fridge bin for fruit. DH got a beautiful handmade wooden tray to hold his wallet, watch etc. on the dresser, a nice woven basket to hold his special laundry (the stuff that is cold water wash/no fabric softener), and a bag of coffee caramels. He was surprised how crowded it was, including a lot of couples.

Does food have sales tax? Varies by state but groceries for cooking is usually no. Prepared food and meals (restaurants) yes. City close to us just raised the meal tax to 14%. Fast food is included. Robbery IMO. ETA - The meal tax and sales tax combined is 14%. Sales tax is 8%. Tax on top on tax. Ugh Everything is taxed in Utah, I think. I grew up here and have always known of sales tax. It seems weird to me, when I travel, to not pay sales tax on some things.

Am I the only one annoyed that the back-to-school stuff is fully stocked in the stores? I get it, a lot of schools start up again in August (most schools here start after Labor Day), but for me personally Summer has barely begun, and I don't want to even think about Fall. At least not yet. (And yes, I was in the retail industry for a time, so I know they're always at least one season ahead of the "real world".)

DH has one week of summer left and he will go back to work. Kiddo goes back to school in 2 1/2 weeks. For us, school shopping always starts when the 4th of July is over. I made DH take Kiddo shoe shopping a couple of weeks ago. We will grab the rest of the classroom supplies this week. And hopefully we will be done with school shopping after that.

Went to farmer's market. Went to the local co-op, as it is downtown. I am a member there, but I rarely shop there. It is so expensive. Whole Foods is cheaper!
We came home. I got the back yard mowed. DH ran our generator for a while, and then drained the hot water tank. Then he went out for some errands. Of course when he does this, he always sneaks a bottle of vodka home. Both me and DS2 know he's sitting in the garage drinking. Sometimes I get mad, sometimes IDGAF. Today is IDGAF. He is asleep now.
I'm looking at getting a knee brace for my dog. She is doing okay, but still limps some, especially when she gets up from sleeping on the floor. I ran into a lady at the farmer's market whose dog had a brace on. She told me it really helps, so I'm looking into it.
I could go pull corn stalks from the garden, but I'm settled pretty well inside now. Our weather has been nice the last couple of days. Cool mornings, no stupid heat or humidity during the day. I may make a cup of coffee and sit on our deck for a while.

By then everything is so picked over.

They have to get it on the shelves this early or the Christmas stuff will claim that shelf space in six weeks. ETA I think our tax free is this weekend. I need to check so I’ll know to wait till Monday to hit store.

Carrot just finished up his 8th week of Summer break and starts back 8/19. Thankfully, he's in high school now and our list is pretty much non-extent now. He did need to get a graphing calculator, but other than that, just show up with notebooks and pencils and pens. Pretty sure we have all that covered from our stash without making a Target run at all. I think he will need to move up a size in uniform clothes, but he can limp along the first few weeks if I don't get to it right away.
