It's always scary to start a new job, giramomma. And I've been in some very toxic work environments. The devil you know is sometimes less scary than the devil you don't. But, it's time to make that leap of faith. We're always here to listen. And, you'll be great! Just remember it's best to give a new job 3-6 months before you decide if you love it or hate it.

I'm pretty sure my sinus surgery needs redone. It's common from what I've read. At least this time I'm smart enough to go to the CVS clinic for $0 copay versus $50 at urgent care.
This is the second sinus infection this year and I was down to zero for several years after the surgery.

Closed on the house today. The bank checked and we all verified that the wire transfer went where it should. They told me at the bank there is so much fraud now they have to watch. I had to call in, give them a special code, and indicate whether I had personally talked to the closer that was getting it and more. Of course, I'm glad they did that, but I was still nervous. I spent 2 hours getting my printer to work on my old computer. Now I'm trying to get the form printed for the savings bonds I need to report as lost. The old computer doesn't seem to want to print the form, got it to print other things, and I can't get the new one to connect to the damn printer, hubs wants me to get it in in case someone tries to cash them. I think I will call tomorrow. I go to Treasury Hunt and all it says is there seems to be some in my name, and that is with my SS number!! I don't have time, but I need to get that in and reported. Then today DD to the doc. I'm exhausted, even slept through a windstorm last night. I saw lightening when I went to bed and that was it, I fell asleep and heard nothing. But like everyone else not rested. Talked to son and grandson has either measles or chicken pox, he is quarantined. Said they are fortunate as the doc is across the street. I don't know if DIL is too. That's not good. He said she is ready to come home. I don't know if because of that or other issues. He has been vaccinated, but figure that was the fever he had before he left. Nothing worse than not being home and being sick. I HAVE to get more done, this stuff isn't packing itself. Hubs worked with the guys today and got rid of old metal and steel for them to take to sell. He wanted all the junk out of the yard. He said he also got some stuff out of the basement. There's just some odds and ends empty boxes and things down there. Had another person come and get moms' old bedroom dresser and has to come back to get the headboard, she was thrilled to get it and I was thrilled someone like her did. I think made another $400 today. Ok, going to mess with the printer again and see if I can get it to work with this piece of junk. While I understand your concern about someone cashing them, I think the guy you feel took them might have a hard time doing that. Many banks do not deal with bonds, most banks are very leery of doing business with non-account holders and it seems unlikely a homeless guy has a checking account. Plus, how would a guy (who might not even have photo ID) cash in a bond held in a woman's name? This dude doesn't sound like a criminal mastermind. Good luck with your printer though - printers are evil!

Good luck with your printer though - printers are evil! There aren't any banks that just cash bonds anymore you have to have an account with the bank. And even those are few and far between anymore the government wants you to do it all online and mail them in. We had a hell of time cashing DH's bonds. We had to provide a copy of his SS card and his driver's license to prove that he was who he claimed to be. We also had to get a death certificate for his mother because her name was on a few of them to prove DH had the right to cash them without having her written permission. It took close to 6 months before they were finally cashed out. There is no way a random dude is going to be able to walk into a bank or anywhere else to cash them. He doesn't sound like the brightest bulb in the box if he indeed took them.

Not that it would be easy for someone else to cash bonds in someone else's name, but I don't need any ID to cash mine at my credit union. I just fill out the back and put them in at the drive thru window and they immediately deposit them with all interest earned to my account.

There is no proof that the bonds were stolen. They may be misplaced.
My credit union will do most anything for me over the phone. But I have had an account with them since I moved here. We added the extra layer of security on phone calls when the my SSN was added to some dead priest's name. But my credit is frozen so the risk is small on someone getting a CC or loan with my SSN.

Surgery is getting closer to doing laundry today.
I don't think my bandage will be as big as the kotex on TFG's ear.

I am tired but have to keep going. I slept good last night but just not enough rest. I kept getting emails from the agent, the shipping rep, DD's case worker. I finally told them I'm going to bed, good night. I just couldn't go anymore.
I just about have DD's room cleaned out, I'm packing shoes and things she wants to keep. Just put a bunch of stuff out by the road of hers. I have a couple of things left in her closet. I am leaving some clothing in her drawers, not much. The drawers in her bathroom are cleaned out.
Have to go to the last doc at 2 so that will be done. Then hope to get the kitty room done. It will come together the next few days but its hard and we are both tired. So far we have managed to not snap at each other

I got cold feet about the new job last night. It will be a good time for me to learn some humility. And I'm going to need to keep that in mind. I also am totally addicted to the emotional hits from the poor environment. Like, just thinking about not getting those hits puts me in a panic. I came home last night and I was like "OMG. WTF have I done? What am I going to do?" DS was all like "Ma. You are going to knit and shit. You won't be so stressed that your hair is all grey." DH told me it's the best decision I've ever made. I did remind him that, it's up there, but not the best decision. The struggle is real. that sounds so like something my son would say so be warned you will hear this stuff for life - my son is 57! But he also says "you'll be OK just like you are always telling me I'll be OK" I am not making light of you cold feet situation at all. We've all been there at one time or another. So hang tough and time will tell you that you did make the right decision!!

My Amazon spending is also going to include a new Keurig. Stupid hard water. When I dumped the water reservoir to try and descale it, the bottom was covered in gritty stuff. I even use filtered water from the fridge.

Good luck with your printer though - printers are evil! Exactly. My parents tried to cash in a bond I was given, and they could not as the bond was only in my name. When I wa in TX, my apartment was robbed and the thieves stole the stack of bonds I had through a payroll savings at work (at the time, those were earning about 9%). I got them back by filing a report of theft through the Treasury. There was no way they could be cashed. Right now, I doubt that TD could cash them. They are reaching the end of the time where they earn interest, so I’ll need to be doing it myself sometime soon.

I have looked at Nespresso and I've been dying for a true espresso maker but if I bit the bullet and the hard water killed it anyway I might cry.
I tried one more time and it worked. I left it sit overnight with the descaling solution in the water reservoir. I'm guessing that softened up the blockage? I'm running the descale solution through it now.
Our water is awful. I noticed last night my instant pot has a white ring around the lid from the water.

In fact, the first time I went in I had a huge stack of them (like 30 or more) and I pre-filled out all the info on the back of every single one before I got there (I think it asked for signature, address and SS number) and they're like "you know, you really didn't have to do all that work" Since then I only fill out one completely. Not sure I even need to do that. Of course, now I only have two paper bonds left.

I buy bottled water for all of us to drink, and I use that in the coffee pot. the bottom of my humidifier this spring was just when I broke it down to clean for the season. no way I want all of that in my system, or the pups.

I'm so far behind I'll never catch up.
But I keep having a question I thought I'd pose to the group. Is there a difference between checking out and matching energy or is it semantics? I suppose by the time you're asking it doesn't matter, but I feel like there is a difference but I can't actually articulate one when pressed.

I think it depends on how far apart you are in terms of energy and it's a really fine line to walk. If I were to have matched DH's energy on some things then I would have been checking out of our relationship. I expect my partner to be an adult especially when he is 10 years older than me. The idea that I need to come down to his level is bonkers to me and IMO smacks of Men are from Mars type sexism. No I am NOT going to parent a 50 year old adult. He can put on his big boy undies and nut up. Supporting him as he is grieving the loss of both parents and is struggling to function? Yes absolutely I will come down to his level because he needs that space to be able to focus on the really important stuff like doing his job. But I also expect him to grant me the same grace and he did. If he expected me to always match his energy and never come up to mine then we'd be divorcing.

It looks like someone just moved it out of the way to access something in the ceiling. Realtor couldn't reach it before taking pictures? I'm more worried about the ceiling in the upstairs bedroom...

I used to do all bottled water. Gallons were one of the things that got scarce during covid. Makes no sense to me. Anyway during that time we also got a new fridge with a filter. I would think at $50/filter it would be filtering out something.
I definitely need to get better about cleaning the water reservoir.

I’m not sure if Britta filtered water would be sufficient, but maybe using distilled water in the future? Either that, or plan on descaling weekly to avoid a huge build up.

The way I understand it, when people say something about matching energy, they usually mean matching negative energy that someone is directing toward them, and reacting to whatever that person does or says with the same kind of negative energy. Checking out is not investing much, if any, energy in a person, in thought or deed.

But I also expect him to grant me the same grace and he did. If he expected me to always match his energy and never come up to mine then we'd be divorcing. To give an example that isn't marriage related- I spent years doing 80%+ of the calling, texting, and generally just carrying the friendship with sil. It's not that she didn't like me, but I did most of the work. I wasn't one of her top priorities. Eventually I stopped and only put in the 20% or so that she gave me. I don't think I checked out, but what I had been doing (for years at that point before and after kids, living near and far) didn't make sense. I still loved our time together but I redirected my time chasing her down on to other things. But there's a good argument to be made that I effectively did check out. Whether I meant to or not. Inertia kept reducing our efforts to the point that now I only see her a few times a year. With sil, that's fine. Sad, but fine. Applied to other relationships though that inertia is making me into the bad guy which I guess is what is pissing me off. Some of it is people getting angry when you stop doing the things they took for granted. In the end I guess it is all semantics.

I think the first time I saw it explained was mothers day vs father's day. If mom makes a big effort to make father's day special and but dad is throwing together mothers day last minute or worst ignoring it especially repeatedly eventually it's OK to stop putting so much energy into father's day.

Time for us to get ready to go to doc. I am starting to see results now as I'm clearing things completely out. Will be done today with DD's bedroom and bathroom. Also cleaning out our bathroom cabinets. I plan to finish the kitty room today.
Then I'm going back to the kitchen, the upper cabinets are mostly emptied as are the bottoms, but still a lot of stuff to go. We put things beside the road and people are still grabbing them. Hope they continue.
Hubs is working on the grandfather clocks and on putting the starter on the generator on the motorhome, we are hoping that fixes it. He can then take the kitties up.
We have made enough money to pay for about all the move we think, so that's a good thing. We are hiring a guy to take a something up to save hubs a trip, so that will help us. They are rolling it into a trip as they have never been out that way. So helps us and them too.

I suppose by the time you're asking it doesn't matter, but I feel like there is a difference but I can't actually articulate one when pressed. If the other person is not expending any energy, it is semantics. if the other person is expending energy, they're different.
