We are finally home. It has been a very long day, but it was worth it because Mister is so happy.
We ended up driving the Tahoe, because no rental car agencies between here and there were accepting one way cars. I drove the Tahoe back home.
We stopped at a Chik Fil A about an hour or so into the drive back home, because we hadn’t eaten all day. The Chik Fil A was on a corner, on a Main Street, but the only way way to get on the parking lot required us to make a left turn onto a side street. I was following Mister, so he turned first. As I went straight to a parking spot and as soon as I put the car in Park, as Mister was walking to my door, we heard a very loud noise. Two cars had had a bad wreck at the intersection we’d just made the left turn in. One was stopped in the middle of the street, the other was still rolling, and stopped when it hit the curb in front of Chik Fil A. They were both mid size SUV’s, if either car had been bigger than the other, the smaller car would not have fared well. The front of both vehicles had a lot of damage. We couldn’t tell exactly what had happened, but whichever car was coming down the Main Street, must not have slowed much, if at all before it hit the other car.
It kind of shook me and Mister both up, because if we’d been just a few seconds later making that left turn, we could’ve been involved in the wreck. We still had about 3.5 hours left to drive home. I am grateful that we made it back safely.
Mister’s skill are very rusty, but he’s not doing too bad driving the car. It did cut off a few times. He gets very anxious every time he gets to a stop sign or red light. He’d prefer to just drive it on the highway lol. He wanted me to drive it when we took it for a test drive, but I was too nervous. I did drive it for a few minutes after we got back home. Other than a couple of slight jerks when changing gears, I didn’t skip a beat. I was SO proud of myself! Mister was surprised (honestly, I was too lol), and I reminded him that my first 3 cars had manual transmissions vs him never having actually owned one himself.
It is a very nice car.
And he was going to park it in the driveway, but that made me nervous, so I told him I’d rather he put it in the garage and we could move my car to the driveway. He insisted it would fit with my car, and guess what, he was right! I just KNEW it was a lot wider than his ACCORD, but I was wrong and he was right.

I went through boxes, I have a lot more fabric to donate and a banker box of patterns. I told hubs we should have gotten rid of everything and bought new up there, would be cheaper I think.
Today they got the rest of the exercise equipment out of the basement and the huge 6 foot desk out of the living room. There is still too much to pack. Tomorrow going to go back in DD's room and work on it. I have to get rid of more. Now I'm having issues. I asked son if he wanted the Korean blanket, I got rid of one. They are big and thick and beyond warm, we have never used either. I asked if he wanted it because they are so beautiful and I hate to get rid of it. He got them for us. He said they had too many and he has the same problem. So sadly it's going too. I also got rid of one of the old blankets mom made, its too hot and we don't need it plus for a full size bed.
I'm going to put more out beside the road and get rid of it. We are taking 2 very good Lands End coats. They are very warm, but it gets pretty cold up there in the winter with the rain, we have plenty of rain coats. I got rid of bunches of coats.
Hubs said I wonder what the inspection didn't reveal as they don't look at things they can't see of course. I'm sure there are other things wrong with it. We will find out for sure soon. Doubt there isn't anything hubs can't fix.
We are both tired though I was able to stay in most of the day. Tomorrow have to hit the packing again and purging. DD and I have to go to her heart doc at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon so that will cut my day off early.
Hubs worked out in this heat. He came in a few times just dripping with sweat to cool off. It was brutal, was 93 with humidity. If I walked outside, felt like an oven.

There's parts of a pedestrian bridge, made in Italy, being transported along the canal to its destination in Buffalo. We've all been avidly scanning for info on when it will be passing by our various villages for days. Well, it finally came thru tonight! I had a board meeting but DH got to see it. Afterward we drove down to the other "port" where it tied up for the night, before going thru the final couple locks tomorrow morning. Well, the first part anyway - the tug needs to go back to retrieve the second barge afterwards. Going under the lift bridge. The l o n g barge, bridge barely visible just peeking above the top edge above the banner. Around Rochester, I think, from earlier today.

I have not had more than 3 hours of sleep for several nights now.
Even last night, I did not sleep more than 3 hours, and I had an even longer day today, than my work days.
And I still can’t seem to unwind and relax even tonight, even though in a couple of hours, I will have been awake for 24 hours.
Some of the sleepless nights recently have been because my stomach has been acting a fool, and I know why that’s been happening. Other nights, my stomach has been acting a fool and/or my sinuses have been acting a fool. Other nights, I just couldn’t sleep for reasons I couldn’t figure out the next day.
I am SO tired. But for one reason or another, and sometimes, for no apparent reason, I can’t just do what normal people do, and get some sleep. It’s driving me crazy, like it always does when I go days and weeks without being able to sleep.
I don’t have to work tomorrow, and that is good since I am somehow exhausted and restless at the same time, yet again. But I do have a lot of shit I need to do tomorrow, and I can’t afford to spend the day just being a bump on a log.
Sleeping is just a basic thing that not just humans, but most animals do. I don’t understand why such a basic part of life has become such a problem for me over the last 20 years.

Good morning, invisipeeps of Y Ma'am immersed in summer mode. Welcome to Tuesday. I hope your day offers sustained electrical power, relief from heat exhaustion, and much good ice cream, with jimmies if you like. I hope someone who adores you shows it. Didn't get to Costco yesterday, so will go today. DH was in recovery mode yesterday. Getting sick really took it out of him. It was a day to go slowly and avoid the heat. I did some laundry, just need to put it away. And run Nino, as Franklin the Dog continues shedding. Again, the early morning revealed no sun, but clouds and mist. It was the same in the evening. I took this photo of tiny dinosaurs in the water exactly one year ago, when the sun shone bright:

In early again. Have an appointment at 9:30 to get the snow tires off the van. Yes, I procrastinated. But, it paid off because a couple weeks ago I found a place that will do it for free.

I'm sitting outside for as long as we can handle it today. I just took a deep breath and realized my neighbor a couple houses down must be doing the same - that deep breath was all weed. woof lol....

PP has a suspected UTI. He announced there was a problem by waking me and DH up all night Apparently he felt left out of all the upcoming medical appointments and missed the vet? It’s not like I wasn’t taking him in 1-2x a week for over a month…or like he didn’t have his annual wellcheck freaking yesterday I’d be more sympathetic if he hadn’t dragged me all over the same circuit three times last night trying to lick specific areas, presumably where someone really interesting had peed. Like the sides of trash cans

I am about to be 50YO. I'm 5ft 7, normal size. My bra size is 40HH. 38DDD in the 6th grade. It took a long time for me to be comfortable with my breast due to abuse by male students. Not anymore. But that means that I also can not wear certain clothes comfortably. I am glad you are comfortable/at peace with the body you have. I have some friends/family that got boob reductions b/c their large breasts caused back issues etc. one girl from HS. She is about my size and had huge chest. She got a breast reduction in her 30’s and was so happy about it. I ran into her once when I was working downtown and she was so happy with the results she told me all about it. I do see a chiropractor every 4 weeks for back issues. The funny thing is that I wanted a reduction in my 20s and 30s and could not afford it. Now I can afford it and am not interested.

Did I tell y'all that a unit a couple of buildings over caught fire on Friday night? I was watching Netflix with the twins and saw a bunch of flashing lights so naturally I looked outside. There were all kinds of fire trucks outside. I'm far too nosy not to go outside. Some random guy said smoke was pouring out of the unit before the firemen got there. Luckily the family got out and nobody was hurt.

Here's a chuckle for today. When DS was failing HS, we shelled out the money for a fancy-pants tutor. Well, it came out of his taxable, so he paid for it. We just got an email solicitation from the very fancy pants business. They offered to coach DS to get into Med School. By someone who worked at MIT for a long time. I had some fun writing the response. they're trying to buy another vacation home

It looks like the Covid hospital ward has finally come to an end. I managed to escape.
This version was really different. Both DH and DS slept 18+ hours of the day, few symptoms other than fatigue. The sleep was really deep, the few times I needed to rouse TD, he took waaaay longer to wake than normal.
I am having lunch with my neighbor today, so will be testing myself. Even if I feel ok, the absolute last thing I want to do is spend somethin* from this house to her. She’s 86.

Finally, it looks like there is going to be another onslaught of boxes arriving with formal dresses. At this point, my sister has ordered and returned 8. I know what her problem is, and she keeps repeating it.
When I ordered dresses, I ordered a bunch of different styles. A few looked like crap mostly those that had any sort of waist on them (empire or otherwise). I quickly saw that wasn’t working for my body….and hers isn’t that much different. So I pointed this out to her that she needs to look for dresses that do not define the waist. She ordered another 5 dresses, and all of them were similar to what she has ordered in the past.
I know she’s getting frustrated, but don’t know how to convince her to stop ordering the same thing. I’m tempted to just order a batch for her like I did, to try to make her see how much differently different styles work……or don’t.

Took the kids to Perkins for dinner. I hadn't been there forever and it was so good. I haven't been to a Perkins in ages. I don't know if we even have one anymore. Fun fact. My drunk cousin got us kicked out of Perkins once trying to pass of a bottle of alcohol as a bottle of syrup.

ok, so I already knew that I have been more of a homebody this year than usual, esp after busting my foot and not even driving anywhere. but I just got an automated message from my car dealership to say that I'm overdue for service. (I have an appointment for next week...) the last time I brought my car in was late January. so that means I've driven less than 5000 miles in 6 months? yikes. oh, and I finally caught my neighbor coming home. she was able to help me carry the huge piece of plywood that's been covering the dog pool out behind my fence. we will be cooling off this afternoon, YAY!

To help sober me up. I however did not get us kicked out. ETA: Dh also broached the subject of engagement rings at Perkins too, when it was clear we were on that path. he'd found some ads for rings that I had torn out of magazines in my desk drawer. I still remember the mix of excitement and terror feeling in my stomach.

I've been spending on the Amazons. I'm not sure we'll donate much in terms of school supplies this year. I am getting some better deals on the amazons than in the stores. And I'm trying to pick away at St. Nick/Christmas for some of the kids.

I ended my Prime sub since DH has one. I'm thinking of reinstating it just to get the Prime Day deals and then cancel once the period is over. I need to start Christmas shopping.
