Waiting for my tele med appointment. Checked in and waiting for doc to call.
Hubs told me to relax today. I'm staying inside, may work on DD's closet and pack stuff from it. I have her dresser and some clothes packed now.
I need to go over her shelves and pack things she wants to keep and go. We have lots of things in each room that need to be either packed or gotten rid of, but its doable now. Like he said we have a week yet and part of another so doing good.
Hubs is hiring the guys to help tomorrow, hoping people come, our goal is to get rid of. After what we have paid them won't be a profit, but that's ok. We both keep saying its very freeing to have this stuff just go away. We have used it, enjoyed it, and a lot packed away so this is good for it to just go.
I have gotten rid of more fabric, Christmas decorations, and other items but still have to much. If I could go through everything again, probably would divest of even more.
At 1 we sign the papers, I'm kind of excited. It's a lot of money for a modular, but we do get a big hobby room and a decent garage so that's a plus. Hubs said he isn't sorry to just have a small yard to deal with. Though I worry he is going to be bored.
Little guy said when I come home from Russia, just think, my grandma and grandpa will be here all the time, he was all excited.
I still think kids need their grandparents, I would have been thrilled to have mine growing up. I just think you miss something not having family.

So I went to pay my 941 Payroll Deposit for tomorrow's payroll, and I got an error code. I cannot figure out how to look up what the error code means. To log into my account there is a que. I have number 4,258 in the que and the line is paused. Once my number comes up, I will have 10 minutes to log into my account. I think the problem is that I have to use ID me for work and personal reasons. It looks like I need to add my work e-mail addy to my personal account. I might have 3 or possibly 4 accounts. Personal, DH's business and a business I have and my work. Of course, work has 3 businesses and I only have one e-mail addy for work. LOL. This is going to be a mess, and apparently there is nothing but a bot on the ID me site to answer questions. Good think the work taxes are not due until next Wednesday. Going to lunch. Interesting that you had issues making the 941 payment and ID.me not working correctly. My ID.me is tied to my personal email address but I can make my side job’s 941 payment without any issues along with my day job’s extension/estimate payments too. I also use it for my day job’s TIN matches too. Maybe it was just a fluke today. Good luck! Getting information on their web site is very cryptic. The automated suggestions were unhelpful. I finally read something that said if you have too many browser windows open that might be the problem. I shut everything down, restarted my computer and I got in. The count for their que line had not moved in like 4 hours at the point I did that. What I read about IDme, that company is really making Billions on a government contract. They were positioned and in right place at right time when the government realized the amount of fraud that was going on in Pandemic Unemployment claims and mandated verifying people's identity.

We are taking the motorhome. Hubs decided we can put the grandfather clocks on the bed and strap them down to keep them from getting damaged. He is also towing his tool trailer with it, so that will help. He said if he wants to take a nap he will just sleep on the couch. He is waiting now for a starter for the generator, he thinks that is all that is wrong with it. It runs, the starter just wouldn't start it. Hope he is right. I will need to clean it up for him too.
I'm renewing the emergency road service, Coach Net. I had it for years. One time I had to get an alternator installed on the road. Another time had a flat tire and they had someone come and replace it. The service was good and you really need it. With these big motorhomes, it can cost a ton of money to have one towed in if you are way out somewhere. It's now $249 a year, but well worth it.

Argh I am so sick of this sinus migraine. I would much rather be home in the dark curled up in my bed. Instead I took Sudafed and I am working. Boo!
And apparently my nose either bled last night or earlier this morning. Awesome. That's usually a sign we're moving into infection territory. Boo!

Speaking of hoods. I used to live in a densely populated Hispanic area before. I currently live in a primarily black area. I was just thinking earlier about how I may possibly be moving back to the Mexican hood. It's a safer one than where I was, but still pretty Mexican. So….. stereotype that might get me in trouble, but Imma take the risk and just be honest anyway. Despite what certain people try to say about Mexicans illegally crossing the border and painting them as dangerous people that are raping, robbing and murdering every chance they get, that is NOT the perception people I know, have. Where I live, they are known for being about their business and doing good work in a timely manner. The stereotype also comes into play with that because if you are looking to have some work done on or around your house, people tend to advise and refer Mexicans, because they will do a good job, in a decent time frame. There is a community that is mostly Mexicans near my first house, and a similar community near where Mister lived before we bought our house. Aside from the Hispanic communities, the other demographics were different compared to where my house was and his home. But the issues in both places, had nothing to do with the Hispanics/Mexicans (I am trying to use the proper terms and not be offensive, so please forgive and educate me if I’m not getting it right) living nearby. Every single thing that ever made me feel some type of way or not safe, was due to somebody that was born and bred in the US, and either what we consider black, or white. I do understand that bad people do cross our borders and come into our country and wreak havoc. I am not denying that. I am just saying that I disagree with immigrants being painted as criminals indiscriminately, because in my 50+ years of living, I’ve had way more serious problems and issues with people that were born and bred in the US than anybody that came here from another country. That is just Trump and the Republicans "Otherizing" the Mexicans. The statistics show that immigrants are responsible for less crimes than Americans. www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/debunking-myth-migrant-crime-wavenews.northwestern.edu/stories/2024/03/immigrants-are-significantly-less-likely-to-commit-crimes-than-the-us-born/

It makes sense because you're not going to want to draw attention to yourself and be deported regardless of whether you are here legally or illegally.
I was chatting with my boss from Germany once who is a permanent resident and he was talking about all the ways he could end up having it revoked and be required to return to Germany.
It was crazy. Stuff that we as citizens may just get slapped on the wrist for could have him packing his bags.
So I've always been skeptical of the claims Trump and Republicans make about crime rates because it doesn't line up with what people who actually are immigrants have told me about the system.

My part of the subdivision, approximately 1100 homes, is probably 60% Hispanic and maybe higher, with a whole lot of everything making up the rest of us. We have less crime than many areas of Houston. Our Hispanics are probably 70% Mexican with tons of Salvadorans, Guatemalans, Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, and Guyanans making up the other 30%. I could argue that, because most of these Hispanics came from really sucky environments in their home countries, they are some of our better citizens. You may remember that our Salvadoran neighbor coerced every young person in his very large family to register and vote in the last election by giving them rides in and photo ops with his very hot sports car, and reminding them what their life would be like (if they were still alive at all) back in El Salvador.

Where I used to live in Maryland is one of the most diverse areas in the country with immigrants from everywhere, including a large minority from central American countries. DS went to an elementary school where ESL students natively spoke a combined total of 22 languages. I hired, happily, a lot of very good help over the 20+ years there, including an expert electrician and a plumber.

My Salvadoran neighbors own a large commercial cleaning company employing hundreds. The Mexican guy two doors down owns his own remodeling and flooring company, and his twin brother is a Houston police officer. The master plumbers who work at our home from time to time are usually Hispanic or Asian.

Finally got our Iowa taxes paid. Tad late but whatever. I guess I must not have been the only one who hated the old web site and decided Iowa must not want my money that bad if they are making it so hard to pay because the web site is completely revamped. I didn't need a BCIN, complicated password, rectal swab, eye scan and the DNA from five generations of my mother's family to get in this time. They even have a quick pay option! Yay Iowa came into the 21st century on at least one thing! Can we file directly through the website yet? That is what I'm waiting for. I refuse to pay Turbo Tax to e-file a tax return with 0 tax liability and no withholding.

My sister in California's husband was a Mexican born in Mexico to an Mexican born father and an American born mother.
When I have visited her, everyone is friendly and hard working. However, she has told me not to be in her neighborhood after dark from the first time we visited. She has said it again this year.
Her husband did not want to work the fields like his parents did for their entire lives, so he sweated away in a bottling factory.
Two sons. One has led as normal as a life as you or me. The other has a drug habit and has spent his adult life in and out of prison. His brother got him a job. He quit before the day was over. It didn't pay enough. It also wouldn't have put him in prison.

I did a walkaround to pick up poop before the landscapers come to mow this afternoon. I'm dumb, I forgot how much cooler it is in the shade out here near the fire pit. the huge oak covers most of the backyard, so it's nice. I grabbed my laptop and the tablet (although I could pull the cover off the tv in the tiki bar...) and I'm parked on the bench out back. I'll get a couple hours back here til the batteries run down. I hope the guys come soon, so that I can pull out the splash pad for the pups to cool off. I don't want to do that and soak the lawn before they cut it.
ETA - woof. I just picked up the mail, which included my electric bill. I apparently haven't remembered to pay that since March, oops. I guess I escaped the threat of disconnection as they overhauled the account numbers at some point, so that probably wasn't on the radar.

Being on summer hours, I am about to logoff of work. DD is off on Fridays so she will be here shortly. We are going to watch "The Descendants : The Rise of Red" on Disney+. ETA - Told DH that DD will be here soon. He said "Oh yeah, its Friday, you can be done with work at lunch while the peons are working 12 hours". My reply - "If you work hard enough one day you too could have the benefit of summer hours". Like I never worked 12 hours. He also said that was a very corporate reply, LOL.

I still think kids need their grandparents, I would have been thrilled to have mine growing up. I just think you miss something not having family. I'm glad you're making money, to pay the guys for their help. Having their help would be such a relief! And very worth it. We collect so much stuff over the years. It's nice in a way, to need to get rid of the excess. I'm so happy for you!

Well, this sucks!
DS has been under the weather for the last few days. She's done a pretty good job of keeping herself isolated in the basement.....but she didn't take a covid test. I suggested to TD that even though we both feel fine, we should probably throw some tests into our bag in case we felt crappy while across the border in BC. TD has a runny nose, so took a test and came up positive.
We have just lost 3 days of $$ at the B&B we are staying at - unless the guy takes pity on us. TD's not about to go up there and possible infect the elderly that are going to be there. There will be about 6 in his family that covid could possibly be an issue.

Gira is there some reason you have to keep the kids in private school? We all went public and seemed to do ok, just curious, could make life easier for you I would think. They go to public high school anyway don't they? Yes. The reason is otherwise my kids go to a failing elementary school. It has been dancing around various degrees of failing for about 15 years. There were some better years, than covid. About 25% of the kids in 3rd grade can do math and read at grade level. It's not because of the kids who don't know English yet. That's only about 30% of the school. It's because 70% of the kids come from low income households. The school draws from low income apartments. The houses around the school are worth 400-600K. Our district does not know how to educate low income kids. Seriously. Once, about 12 years ago, they did a study on how to catch up 7th graders that were behind in reading. They tested how 1 on 1 support, combined with way more reading time improved test scores. Now, most of us would be like "well, duh. Lots of interventions like 1 on 1 work and more time reading would improve things. Teachers were *shocked* that the kids were actually able to catch up. They thought this was all novel and new. Jesus, my face is still cringing when I think about it. It's like, seriously, how dumb are you? The only way to get out from the elementary school is to move or pay for private school. I love my house. I love where we live. I will not give it up to get into a different elementary school in our district. The high schools are amazing. Room for everyone, from the serious students to the kids that barely pass. I've always maintained that if a kid can't read by HS they are sunk. We also don't want to hire tutors and put our kids in Kumon if we go the public school route. The little ones are tired after a long day. They don't want another 1-2 hours of more work. And after Covid, there's just no way in hell I want to be the one responsible for supplementing my kids' education. Covid absolutely broke me in that way. I also don't like how the school system goes about teaching diversity, etc. There's no acknowledgement of Christmas, valentine's day, etc. Like it or not, Christmas is a holiday. It's not called "Winter eve and Winter Day" Ignoring all of our differences doesn't work, in terms of teaching diversity, etc. We've known that for a while now. The schools now also passed discipline changes. Teachers can't take obnoxious kids out of the classroom. So, if you have a kid that is being an ass belting out Taylor Swift songs in class all day long, you just ask the kid to stop. If the kid does not stop. You have to figure out a way to teach over them. Worse, if a kid calls you a b*tch or anything else, you have to keep that kid in class. My kids know they don't have to like their teachers, and calling them a b*tch or worse is unacceptable. I don't want my kids to be a in a classroom where the teacher has to do everything: teach, be a quasi parent, social worker, health care person, referee. I want to send my kids to a school where all the teachers have to do is teach. Don't get me wrong. I'm really not happy with Catholicism and I've been toying with checking out a luthern church. I find it's much easier to have conversations about social issues with my kids rather than have to go and teach them the basics that they are missing.

Back from the vet with my 9 year old, 80 lb fur baby. She has partially torn one of the ligaments in her left knee. She did this several weeks ago, and was only slightly limping here and there. I finally said well let's her checked out and wow. I did not think it was this serious.
I feel like a bad dog mom right now.
Vet said she is healing well. She is on medication. We need to stop her from jumping and running like a gazelle. So no more drives in my older higher SUV. We will use the low to the ground Civic. I'm researching ramps to help her get on my bed - she sleeps with me. I need to look for a different frame for my bed, cause right now with the footboard there is no room to put a ramp.
She really should weigh less than 80 lbs. So we are going to work on that as well.

After breakfast I ran some laundry and cleaned toilets. I have the arborist scheduled for July 31. Still no power for over 1/2 million but they are working on it. Unfortunately, we are getting daily thunderstorms and they have to stop during lightning so that's a delay. Venturing out to lunch was exciting with most traffic signals still not working and many streets blocked by power repair vehicles. Also I made the mistake of answering yes when the wait staff at the Chinese restaurant asked if I wanted regular heat in my dish. Six tissues and two large glasses of iced tea later, I was through. It was good

I am so sorry! I hope you get your $$ back and TD's case is mild. I really respect those who are decent enough to avoid infecting others, some folks just don't care. Thats not happening. I managed to get through to the B&B and canceled our room. No refund. I am kinda bummed as family we’ve not seen in a few years will be there. TD’s getting sicker. He said his throat is hurting, and he just crawled back into bed. I’m the only one still standing right now.

Exactly. TD does not want to draw attention to his naturalization status, so he errs on the far side of toeing the law. #metoo. Though being an overly fluffy, white-haired Caucasian woman makes that quite easy. At least at a glance I fit right in. Yep. Being Canadian doesn’t exactly put a target on his back. Regardless, it’s not something he wants to jeopardize.

DH is doing much better. He's kept down some liquids, 1/2 piece of toast and a Melona bar. Now he's sleeping. I'm glad he is.
Wonder if he should take a Covid test. I may have him do it, although Covid seems very unlikely.
