It's a fabulous cause Andi. I started fostering after DH because I needed something to fill the emptiness and I have plenty of room and love. Of course, I could use a cat cuddle today and I don't have any fosters.

Punk did that to me yesterday, shredded the tissues in the bathroom garbage. I'm sorry we've been hiding out in the house this week, but you would melt if we stayed outside like usual. I know it's hotter and more humid elsewhere around the country, but it's hit 90s here at the coast all week. we're just not used to it anymore.

MPL border collie pup, you have room for pup to run around and border collies need lots of exercise and are usually very smart A traditional farm dog! I like him too. I don't think he'll last long though. One thing about this place is they place dogs fast. There were 6 in that litter posted yesterday and he's the last one.
I'm going to email them today. I submitted an application 2 weeks ago when we looked at the shepherds and I haven't heard anything back.

How many years do you have before retirement minnesotapaintlady I think you are trying to retire in the same timeframe as I am for my dayjob, maybe even less? (I'm on the 8 year plan to hanging it up. Sooner, if DH can find a full time job.) If that's the case, my first choice would be the 10 year old dog.
Personally, I would want to wait to see what my retirement will look like (especially if you are serious about doing the RV thing) before I committed to a puppy. But, I am over having more responsibility and more complications. Then again, I ended up with an extra kid instead of a dog. If you are like, that Gira, she's so boring. Of course I want a long commitment. I'd totally do the puppy. 5 years and 364 days, but who's counting! ROFL My absolute #1 first thing I've always planned to do when I retire is get a dog again, ESPECIALLY if I do the RV thing. The only reason I didn't get a new one when our other dog died in 2014 was there was so much other crap going on with Ex 2.0. Plus Carrot was little, ODS was just getting into all the activities and we were never home, so I kept telling myself "when I retire" I'll have all the time in the world for a dog again.
Now I'm just getting anxious partially because I think Carrot needs a dog buddy...especially now that his brother will possibly be gone for good come September. Don't want to get an older one that is a bad fit though so trying not to be impulsive. We would have 100% had that 4 month old lab had he not got snatched up right after we met him though.
99% of the pEEps on this board!! The 1% of us have already retired.

And we're back to mixed bag messages. JFC.
I know medicine is not exact and I know realism is needed.
But FUCK. Getting 4 different doctors in the 40 minutes I've been here is too much.
Dad didn't sleep at all. Not sure I can convince him to do so while I'm here. I'll try though.

Some day I will have that, including glass doors. Soon, right? I know you've been beset with delays, but you're on a roll. It will come. Yes, checking in is on my to do list for today. Last two parts were to ship July 13. I would think they have arrived. I guess then it has to work with the schedules of the contractor and the tiler. I told them I want this to be a continuous job as I don't want to be in construction hell for months. I was told about 3 weeks from start to finish. Most of that is letting the tile cure, etc. It would be great if the first week would be while I am in Canada

minnesotapaintlady Do they let you give prospective dogs the "I won't chase chickens" test? countrygirl2 The house is really pretty. It looked as if the main bathroom had a corner tub and a walk-in shower, but the second bathroom only had a tub/shower. You have mentioned that DD's mobility is worsening so you might want to switch over to a walk-in shower in her bathroom which would make it easier for her bathing needs.

Maybe it's just Jackson then. He was a mad man. He constantly had the zoomies and would eat poop. He is very smart and could take direction well, but only if you had food. He destroyed everything! Part of it also has to be his size. He was already 35 pounds when I brought him home at 3 months. You can't keep him out of anything or anywhere, he's a bull in a China shop. He'll find a way to get what he wants and is way too smart. Devil dogs size made normal puppy behavior a problem. Add in extremely high energy when I have dh constantly warning against high impact exercise before 18-24 months and yeah....it's been rough. Right! Especially when they have no idea how big they are. It's cute when they're a 10 pound lap dog. Not so much as a 110 pound lap dog.

minnesotapaintlady Do they let you give prospective dogs the "I won't chase chickens" test? They'll "cat test" them for you at the shelter which gives you a little idea of how they'll behave there, but yeah, chickens can be a huge issue for some dogs. The shelter is an hour away and you do have 30 days to return if they don't work out, but I think you're then branded as a "returner". I don't know. Maybe it happens quite a bit and they still let you get something else. People bring their other pets along to the visits. I could bring a chicken!

Yes, I think the house is too close too, but what a beauty and the floors are heated and look at the garage. Then the view is awesome. Hubs says oh I don't need a big garage and stuff. Yes, he does. But the good news is the prices are coming down, so there is that. But if we do anything it would be next year. Oh my, just got a call, another very old relative passed away last night. Hubs family is one of those where the hubs lost a wife and married a SIL. His grandmother and the other guy's grandmother were sisters or something like that. I can't figure it out, but they are related. So, we have another funeral to go to in a few days. They day they come in 3's. But this old gentleman was fortunate, he had only been in the nursing home a couple of weeks and had hospice and died at home after 3 days. The house looks like a duplex to me. It says it's a 2 car garage.

They think they're toys or something. Macy killed a bird playing with it before I figured out it wasn't a mouse. I just saw her throwing something grey into the air and picking it up and throwing it again. My scary ass wasn't going near a mouse. By the time I figured out it was a bird she had manhandled it so much that it was gone. I felt bad.

Today is our last full day at my brother’s house before we head back home tomorrow. We won’t reach home until Sunday but still. We’ve had a great time!! There will be many tears when we leave.
Today is also my birthday!!! I’m 43. First time I’ve spent it with my brother and his family, and it’s been a long time since with my brother.
My DH and my brother are golfing while us ladies (me, SIL, our mom, my 2 DDs, and their 2 DDs) are killing time until we go roller skating. I believe we are having steaks tonight too! Yum!!

Happy birthday Taz.
I grabbed Gwen something she was eyeballing in the gift shop yesterday. It's one of those fuzzy headbands you use when washing your face or other skin care.
Probably could get it cheaper at Walmart but I don't have the time right now.
Plus it was a small positive thing to do.

I'm worried this is that last oomph your body gives before you die. Or this is as good as it will get and we need to let her go.
It's so hard to know.
Apparently Dr Gloom is the head of the team. Yay. She's very well regarded in her field but IDK if I can handle seeing her today.
If a minister shows up I'll throat punch him. Fuck God and his reasons.
My dad needs his wife. Bob and I need our mommy and the kids need their grandma. She belongs on Earth.
