It's 106 here today, but at least it's a dry heat. We hit around 100 degrees today in Memphis. But we have plenty of humidty. So the heat index hit 119 degrees mid afternoon. Curently 96 degrees with a heat index of 113 degrees. The same yesterday. The heat index also hit 119. Hopefully rain tonight and over the next five or so days. I surely do not miss the heat + humidity that is Memphis. I do miss the rain, though.

Well, the Celine Dion movie was depressing as hell. ![](https://i239.photobucket.com/albums/ff155/JiminiChristmas/ymamsmiles/cry.gif) I'd better put a comedy on now to recover a little. CMT has a Jeff Dunham marathon tonight.

I just got back inside from Mister and the dogs accompanying me to tend to my tomato plants. All I really wanted to do was get a good look at them, tie whatever needed tying up, and take the ones with BER off the one San Marzano plant that is so darn temperamental.
Most of them are struggling and not growing much, I really think it’s the soil I used for them. Nothing I used that soil for has done well or even gotten off to a good start. I will not buy that again, and already threw away what I had left. I had better results using Miracle Grow.
I did not water anything, so I am really hoping it rains tonight like the forecasts says it might. If it doesn’t, I’ll water whatever needs it, before I go to work in the morning.

We are in our second drought of the year, which is rare for June/July. The first was around April. Storms were threatened today, but watching the radar it looks like the broke up and passed north and south of us. We really need the rain.

My Mom use to say she didn’t need a dishwasher (machine) because she had me. The last house I lived in with her, did finally have a dishwasher.
I did not have a dishwasher during the years I lived in my Grandmother’s other house. But when I bought my house, it did have a dishwasher. It died around the same time that I went broke. It was a few years before I could afford to replace it.
What I learned from that time is that I don’t ever want to live without a dishwasher again if I can help it. I know now that I HATE washing dishes by hand. So much so that I make sure anything I buy for my kitchen is dishwasher safe. If it can’t go in the dishwasher, I’m not likely to buy it in the first place, and if I already own it and it can’t go in the dishwasher, I’m not likely to use it often.
When the dishwasher here died, I made it very clear to Mister that it had to be replaced asap, because I wasn’t handwashing dishes for 2-5 people every day. I would only do it for the time it took to buy a new dishwasher and get it delivered. Otherwise, everybody BUT me was gon be washing dishes every day and I was still gon have the same expectations about my kitchen being clean. We bought a dishwasher as soon as I settled on the one I wanted.

I mixed my soil with sheep manure and my tomatoes, lettuce and herbs are growing like gangbusters. I even used tired old soil because these are really big pots, and I can't haul new bags of dirt up the stairs every spring.

I am outside watching the fire department putting out a fire in a neighbor's garage. The neighbor lit a fireworks rocket on the street and it tipped over shooting its stuff into the neighbor's garage. No one noticed it had started a fire for several minutes. They called the FD.
I was outside watching them light fireworks so I saw it from beginning to end.
Karma for their stupidity.

We are under fire bans up here so there were no official or non-official fireworks for Canada Day.
I was pleasantly surprised that no one tried anyway.

Last week when DD was home for a visit, she told DH about her plan to get married when she goes to Vegas in the Fall. She said it was a very anticlimactic conversation. Based on things he has said in the past about marriage in general and some comments he’s made about her guy, she was expecting some pushback. Basically he said whatever will make you happy.
Then he tried to get me to give her my rings. She didn’t really want them and I still do. I guess he figures since we ended up never having a wedding, they don’t mean anything. If I could still fit them over my knuckle, I’d wear them on special occasions. I’m just not much of a jewelry kind of person.
He hasn’t worn his earring with the handcuffs charm for a couple of decades either yet he didn’t offer it to C.

There was a local store that would sell them but they closed for good mid-June. They didn’t bother getting any in. That likely helped

Good morning, vigilant invisipeeps, observing fireworks or not in your home bases. Welcome to Friday. I hope your day is delightful in every way and includes adult beverages if you indulge or adult desserts if not, or maybe both. I hope you have reason to celebrate this day. Today we need to prepare for another show, which will be either tomorrow with a 50% chance of rain or, rain date Sunday, with a 55% chance of rain. We'll see how it goes. Hoping for the best. Our celebration yesterday was delicious. With DSis and ODB we had prime chuck burgers, potato salad made by ODB and the desserts I'd made. YDB couldn't make it. He has been working on his roof and found a leak the night before that he was up until the wee hours tackling then developed a migraine. We did not see fireworks. After the smoke detector issues we were really tired and went to bed. Franklin the Dog and I did get to the beach yesterday. I caught this beach house on the cove under a spiral of clouds in the pre-dawn light: ![Beach house on cove](https://i.imgur.com/gPvT8F1.jpeg)

Stayed up too late and woke up way too early. Will definitely nap today.
Will try to trim the kitchen supplies today. DH even got on board, saying that he can cull some of his BBQ supplies - which currently take up a full cabinet.
There is a charity nearby that helps kids with house supplies and furniture when they age out of foster care that I will donate them to. They accept plenty of other things, some of which they sell or auction and 100% goes to helping foster families. I need to look into volunteering there.

We had a full house last night. Kids stayed up late with Anomia card game and wine and beer. Baby great grand goes to sleep easily and sleeps all night. They are lucky most babies don’t. He was delighted with a birthday push trike. Made by Red Flyer, nice to see its good quality. We had a Fisher Price toy garage our kids loved. Bought a new toy garage and it was junk. Flimsy plastic that sort of clipped together but kept falling apart when played with. DD said she’d look for a vintage toy garage on eBay for this little guy. Club’s BBQ was huge with so much variety . Lake water was cool and delightful. Much fun on the big floating trampoline and slide. Cleaning ladies came on Wednesday but today house is a mess. Baby stuff all over, suitcases for DGS and wife. Lots of towels and bathing suits But I so much enjoy having them here. Going in August to ODS in California, 7 of us DIL calls it the Big Visit. We’re renting a Air BB 3 doors down that has a big pool We feel blessed to be able to enjoy them

Putting basil that I cut yesterday on the dehydrator. Love fresh herbs. Need to carve out a spot in the house for some plants so that I can enjoy all winter.

I'm up working. I did finally sleep more than 4 hours last. night. Which is a godsend.
I realized that I was far more upset about being pregnant with the missy than I am about the paycut.
I don't even know I how I feel about that.

I have the stress eating munchies right now. And I'm working in the kitchen.
A bad combo. One of the reasons why I am the size I am.

yesterday was okay. We picnicked in the local park, but then DH got into a light altercation/argument with some disc golfers who nearly hit me. DS was there too, and we were both trying to calm DH down. He later apologized for getting that angry, but DS was still a little wary. He's never seen an argument like that up close... I certainly don't do that and neither does XH. DH is from rough upbringings and he said it just kicked in due to seeing me almost being hurt. I love him dearly but I told him that you don't know what kind of mental issues (or weapons) people have nowadays and it's not worth getting shoved into the back of a squad car or the back of an ambulance at worst.
After DS got picked up, we got a little loopy and chilled out/snacked/watched comedies for the rest of the day. And then had to get up a million times to try to get DH's dog I'm gonna call Princess P to pee between fireworks. Locals were setting them off til past 11 and both P and JB (my kitty) were hiding out in the bedroom.
Aaaaaaand, back to work today.

I'm sitting here once again wondering why I didn't ask off for today. I was up way too late listening to the booms and comforting my dog. She had been coping pretty well for the light days leading up to last night, so I had high hopes. I was so wrong.

Standing in the bag check line for international flights at YVR. Something is broken, so the line is not moving at all. There are a few hundred people waiting in the middle of the line.

I'm going to have a pity party and think of all things we can't afford now.
1. Offspring/Red hot chili peppers is coming near me. Would die to see them.

I love being at work when there's almost nobody here. Only drawback is nobody made fresh coffee and they have the AC turned off...or really turned down. Although, normally they're freezing me out, so right now I'm comfortable, as long as it stays cloudy and rainy out today I should be fine. The overhead music also turned off which is a bit weird because it was on when I got here this morning.
I have a bunch of mindless work to do today, so no distractions is perfect.

it's gross here today, rainy and cloudy but humid AF. good day to stay in and crank out all of the laundry - both beds, all of the towels, and I haven't done any clothes in a couple weeks now. exciting day, eh?

I really regret not sticking to my plan of taking today off. I was unexpectedly off last week b/c of my parents, and I'm off next Wed - Fri, so I figured I should work today. But now, this seems like a bad plan, haha. Hopefully since 90% of the team is off, it'll just be a nice quiet day and I can do things like get a run in, fold the laundry, etc and not really have to worry about work.

That would hurt my feelings too. Big question is do YOU like soon-to-be SIL?

4th was nice, it rained for like 2 hours in the afternoon and was a light rain when it got dark so we went ahead and did the fireworks. If it didn't rain we would not have done them. We tend to pick some up out of state when traveling. The neighbors and their neighbors, and the people behind us (that we can't see because of the trees) must as well. But we are all older as well I think because all the booms were over by 10. We ended up not having anyone over, we invited people a few months ago but didn't really follow up with the past few weeks we have, we may need to do something in the fall. A tends to feel like the black sheep of his family or the out cast, I think some of it is in his head, I am sure he was at one point with the past he has told me about, but now I think it is just life shit.
Today is getting M (A's daughter) friend home, picking up A up from work, he has to give his work truck to his assistant while we are on vacation, and K(A's oldest son who is watching the doggies for us for a week). Packing and getting everything ready for us to leave at 3 am.

I thought Tennesseer was saying that he saw them shooting fireworks in the street not that he saw one go into the garage and start a fire.
